it's a hybrid [Music] [Music] sh sh [Music] all right well today we have the ls Miata on the lift it is time to give this thing some fixing and some upgrades it is not in the best shape it's ever been that is for sure it's been sitting for the better part of 2 years on and off it sat for a full year without being touched and we kind of drug it out tidied up some odds and ends fixed some things got it just barely workable did the bare minimum took it to the track and fortunately we did get through the event but barely we had some some some big problems pop up so it's time to fix all of those problems and do some upgrades that I've wanted to do for a while anyway so the reason that we're getting this thing now is because it is about to go to the biggest event it's been to in years we are taking this thing up north and we are going to be doing a Toge event this is like a dream come true for me bucket list moment we're going to be drifting up a legit public Mountain Road now it's going to be shut down for us so we we're doing this all legally but it's a big deal it's not a lot of people get to do this and I am so excited for it and this is the perfect car to do it in both for the Nostalgia sentimental reasons and it's kind of the right amount of being Rowdy you know makes about 500 wheel having grip having speed but also you know it's not so insane like it would be to take something like the vet up there so yeah that being said we got a bit of work to do so I need to quit Jibber jabbering we need to get to it I want to change the injectors I'm pretty sure I have a spare set somewhere in the container in the spare parts tote for this car which we probably should bring with us anyway so I think the first step is to go dig that thing out and see what we've actually got on hand for this thing because it's been a while and I don't remember where anything for this car is so let's get to [Applause] work all right let's see a spares here we go oh it's a heavy [Music] one this is the tote that we needed I am going to bring it but injectors are not in here I could be completely wrong about having spare injectors or they're somewhere else I feel like they're in a small toe somewhere all right well we got all our fuel system stuff I did manage to find my spare injectors so we have the 700s that are the same size and then I actually have a set of thousands that I got in case I didn't have enough fuel for the dry shot of nitrous but we didn't need to go up in size so we stayed with the 700s but I did realize that I did have a new spare set but but I already swapped them in like two times ago when we drove the car um so these are used I'm pretty sure I clean them but I'm just going to go ahead and clean the newer set float test it and if it's all good we'll just run those and we'll bring these as spares um if we need them worst worst case we have the th000 CC's that are brand new we'll just have to retune it which is not a big deal but there's no point in running an injector that we didn't even need that large of for nitrous when we're not even running the nitrous anymore it would just be way larger than we need so uh we'll try to stick with those but we need to clean them and then we need to test them make sure they're good hopefully there's not too much fuel in here well there was a bit that is the good thing about running E85 is I don't worry as much about spilling it I me it's just going to evaporate anyway I learn the uh the hard way what it what happens if you don't maintain your injectors and you don't check them we uh ended up having to bow out of competition at round of clutch kickers because what turned out to to be two clogged injectors we thought was everything else and um from that day forward I'm very uh very cautious about that I try to stay on top of my injectors and always check them frequently it's not as big of a deal with an NA engine like this we had those two clog up and um lean out real bad but if you do that on a you can't really get away with that on a turbo engine so it's a lot more important but it's not good for it either way because basically what ends up happening is in my scenario I had two cylinders that were lean so the ECU adds fuel everywhere to compensate it doesn't know which two cylinders are lean it just knows the overall air fuel mixture is lean and then you end up you know basically being rich in the cylinders the injectors aren't clogged and then lean in the cylinders where they are and that's just not good for anybody so the car has been sitting I like to uh I like to test and clean the injectors just to be on the safe [Music] side so all right these are all mint dude I'm not even going to bother testing them some more I will clean them just cuz why not but go ahead and test their other four we got 50 50 52 and 52 it's pretty close those are almost 52 actually so 52 54 54 for these are all in pretty good shape that's [Music] exciting yeah these are a tiny bit off but I think they're fine especially once we give them a good Queen they'll probably be all right all right easy as one two three injectors changed our Queen not changed but taken out Queen and reinstalled so I think we're good I guess I'll test for leeks cuz uh I think I'm going have to wait for the system to bleed down I'm going to check for weeks I want to know now I'm GNA wait I'm gonna wait because we need to take the uh surch tank apart out back and the fuel filter off so not make more work for ourselves Let's uh get that done first and then we can come back and check for leas so at the last event we had a random problem with the fuel boiling and basically the car just losing fuel F completely cutting out and um what we ended up doing was basically the way I have this setup right now now we have two feed pumps so this is our surch tank so let me show you let me let me paint the picture for you so our stock fuel tank is down under there there's a fuel hat we have one D Works brushless pump in the stock tank stock hanger all that so that comes out feeds through this filter into the surch tank and it fills up this surch tank and then in here we have two pumps that then feed the fuel rails feed the engine and it returns to the tank and then the overflow when this gets full it returns to the sock tank and the way I had this set up we have one feed pump in here running all the time idle cruising part throttle and then once we go above 3,000 RPM the secondary fuel pump comes on and supplies that extra bit of fuel so what we realized is that maybe the first pump was going out from sitting submerging E85 for a year um but either way I changed the setting to where both fuel pumps come on all the time and then the car ran fine so that leads me to believe that our one pump is uh it's struggling okay larger wire is stage one don't forget that remember that if I ask you later I'm going to quiz you later on that cuz I'm going to forget larger wire stage one but anyway yeah so I think our first pump is we kind of maybe maybe vapor lock the system and tore it up so what we're going to do is change both pumps so right now in this uh surge tank we have two 3040 L perh pumps and we're kind of right on the verge to where we could get away with only running one pump all the time but with 500 wheel on E you need a pretty good amount of fuel flow e requires more fuel flow 500 wheel is a decent amount we'd be right on the cusp of making it work with one pump having enough fuel flow so that's why we have them staged to where the second pump comes on once we get above 3,000 RPM and are going to need that fuel but we're going to change this we're going to do this a little bit differently an idea I have that I'm going to take over from the vet an evolution if you will so we're going to a pair of larger pumps these are 340 L hour we're going to a pair of 415 L per hour pumps now that's not because we need two 415 lph pumps to run on this car what we're going to do is run it all the time on one and then the second one will essentially be a backup and not just a backup but an automatic backup so we're going to program it to where if the ECU sees a drop in fuel pressure a air fuel Wing condition or something like that that would insinuate that one of the that our main pump is having an issue we're not getting enough fuel flow it'll automatically kick the second one on without us having to do anything and that way we have that kind of safety net if we have some sort of issue the pump sucks something thing up a wire comes loose any any of the above we have that second one to come on automatically that's how I ended up doing it in my vet because we have three of those same 415 L perh pumps but we really only need two of them to make the 1100 wheel on E so I set the third one up to come on automatically if something were to happen to one of the other pumps um so we're going to do the exact same thing here I think this is a better way to do it that way we're only relying on one pump and even at a bare minimum we just swap the wires and have the other pump run if we weren't able to program all that stuff which we are so we're going to do we're going to do it the the modern way but it just gives us options I think it's a better setup than uh relying on needing both pumps to be working if that makes sense so yeah uh these will swap into this hanger this uh D Works surch tank is set up you can see these little collar those are for the smaller pumps and then that's without the collar for the larger pumps um so these will bolt right in should be a pretty pretty easy little swap we got to do some wiring do some stuff get this built back together and put everything back together but before we do that just so I don't forget I want to go ahead and change the fuel filter I got a new one and I I don't want to put this back together and test it out and then forget to change the fuel filter and have to bleed the system down again now this is obviously not an oil filter but the same problems apply with the O-ring if you don't lubricate the O-ring it will stick so like to put a little bit of oil on the O-ring just like I do with an oil filter and I'll clean the excess obviously we don't want any uh oil in our fuel but a little bit of oil ain't never hurt nobody all right let's try to do a hot swap here and minimize our fuel spillage well even with lubricating the overing this one's a little tight pretty sure we changed this not this last time we drove it but the time before which was a year before but that's besides the point so once I had the fuel filter change out of the way it was time to take apart and rebuild this surge tank hanger now fortunately I have two of these one in the Miata one in the turbo truck and then the fuel cell surge tank that's in the vet is very similar as well so I'm very familiar with working with these and you know what I need to do to get everything to fit right one of the more important things is that we've got to basically cut the feed hoses at the right link so that the pumps are at the bottom of the tank but they're not so far down that they squish against the bottom of the tank we want to get every last drop of fuel out of that surge tank but we also don't want to have problems with the pumps you know sucking to the bottom of the tank or the hanger not sealing correctly because it can't bolt down all the way so It's Tricky it's definitely something you've got to get right and uh take your time on so I got everything measured made sure that was good got the pumps in and tightened down and then all we got to do is add some ring terminals so that we can wire this up I normally use non-insulated ring terminals but I was out of this particular size from probably the last time I did a fuel cell or a surge tank setup so I used some insulated ones made sure to heat trink them and then we got all the wires tightened down and with that the surge tank hanger assembly is complete with two brand new 400 pumps all right we got our fresh gasket and we go this [Music] way all right it's time for you to shine which one was stage one and which one was stage two do you remember comment down below if you remember without rewinding which one was stage one which wire which one was stage two I'll give you a second think it through I remember if you said large was stage one and smaller gauge was stage two you would be correct oh I don't like that it's funny how much better my wirings gotten since uh I built this car all righty let's put these hoses back on here all right new pumps are in I still got it programmed to turn both of them on all the time so I do need to change that still um but I want to go ahead and just test it make sure we got no leaks back here up there and make sure it fires up all right well we got no leaks up at the injectors we don't have any leaks that I could find back here we now have new pumps new fuel filter I think we are ready to go there aside from just changing the uh setting in the ECU to only running one pump all the time with the other one as a backup so uh that being said few more things to do we got to do an oil change it's uh it's only got like an event on it but it's got like a year and a half two years on it so that's really why it needs to be changed more than anything uh that's pretty simple straightforward the really the biggest thing that I'm stressing about is we don't have inate safety harnesses and the event we're going to requires inate safety harnesses now I bought these brand new I know they're still good but they have to be in date and the only harnesses I have that I could really take are in the vet so we're going to have to take the ones out of the vet and put them in this car so that we have some inate harnesses but I say all this because this car is in the way of getting this car down to get the harnesses out however the bus is in the way of getting this car out to get this car down so we have a little bit of uh musical cars that we need to do I'm going qu dri jabber and I'm going to get to it kick tires like the fires um I kind of get a kick out of moving stuff around anyway so you know I ain't complaining [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] so after we finished moving everything around it was time to get straight back to work on working on the car first thing was to swap the harnesses pulling the old harnesses out of the me and the good harnesses out of the vet now fortunately raldo and Jos came by to Lim me a hand in getting the car ready because it's kind of a last minute rush it always is with the vents you know I try to be prepared and I try to leave myself plenty of time but there's always just more to do than you think one of those things being filling six five gallon fuel jugs because I don't know how much fuel I'm going to go through and I definitely don't want to run out so doing that prepping everything spilling some fuel changing the oil is also a bit of a process in this car because where the dry stump tank is you can't just drain it we did make a big revision when we mounted the tank in the vet and we put it in a place where you can just drain it but on this car it is a whole process of unbolting the tank undoing the lines draining the tank out cleaning the catch can and then putting it all back together hooking all the lines back up the oil filter is also not great because of where it's mounted it was the only place it could go but it's you know effectively upside down so then oil spills everywhere it's a process moral of the story so but we got the oil change done and we're cruising along all right oil change is done and dusted you know we're in Hustle mode when I barely film anything and there's stuff everywhere but host's here he came to help me get this thing sorted out and ready thank God he did because I would not have got it done in time raldo was also here earlier help uh we got the new harnesses in I just need to final adjust them to size but we fully stole the vet harnesses I thought about just doing one pair but we went ahead and did both pairs and it's nicer anyway you know it when after looking at the old harnesses the the car deserves some new ones the old ones were pretty crusty June 2021 is when these expired these were these were pretty crusty this this looks nice compared to the rest of it they were they were in rough shape so honestly it works out we had to do the harnesses I ain't mad about it uh yeah that's I don't know oh I guess from the fuel yeah I was wondering what was that boiling fuel that geered out when we had the fuel pump problem U but yeah fuel pumps are changed car is registered oil is changed uh tires are mounted they're in the bed of the truck fuel is filled in the trailer that's all in there but uh we'll probably give this thing once over and then put it in the Box we got the car all strapped down and secured closed up the trailer and we are ready to head out first thing in the morning for quite a long drive up into the mountains so we started making our way North and this is going to be the longest trip that I have done with this truck and trailer combo it's the first real trip with this trailer to get up there so I'm pretty excited to see how the whole combination does we put a lot of effort into tow rig situations and hopefully this is the one we'll find out all right update we have says 4 and 1 half hours left I've managed to only make one fuel stop one stop and it's cuz I needed fuel I had like 60 M left to empty I got the aux working I am so happy so the truck has had an with the Bluetooth for like months now um but it's been the offseason I the most of the events I've gone to are osw I don't mind doing an hour drive with no music a lot of times I'll drive with no music cuz I'm just not you know I'm thinking about stuff planning stuff whatever so it wasn't it didn't really bother me but as I got in it clicked I remembered that the Bluetooth wasn't working I have no way of listening to music cuz I've tried everything I've tried plugging in USB tried Bluetooth tried hard resetting the system soft resetting the system everything it won't even it's hard to explain but you basically when you press the button to add a device just nothing happens it doesn't even go to a menu it's not like it tries to connect doesn't connect it just won't even try so I was kind of panicking I ordered this Ox cable adapter and it didn't work at first but then at some point it started working and now I have music and podcast and this would be a long solo drive with no music or podcast it's probably the longest solo trip I've done in a long time normally it's always me raldo and Jose but you know their Shop's been so busy lately they've had so many projects going on that I mean it's always tough for them to get away for a weekend um because it's it's more than a weekend you know you've got two days of driving and then you've got a day or two on each end um you know getting there and and all that so anyway they weren't able to come on this one so it's a solo trip solo Mission um and again it's been I I haven't done a long one in a while so I'm jber javer you guys are the only people I have to talk to right now so uh but so far so good it's been a pretty chill Drive lots of traffic uh lots of two-lane highways and stuff but overall I you know can't complain I'm chilling um but we got we're over halfway uh based on the map you know obviously it hit traffic and it take you longer but uh we're over halfway which is good so I'm going put this podcast back on keep driving keep on trucking well we hit [Music] traffic made it this far without hitting any real traffic so I I mean I can't complain cuz we're going to need fuel again soon we got 96 mil range I've been on a mission to make it to my fuel up Point without stopping had to check on the old girl seeing the car in here just looks so cool in this trailer any car that I've had in here looks sick TR so clean and organized love it all right let's roll this is hopefully our last fuel stop of the trip more traffic says it's going to end soon I think we're almost through it oh I see a semi- truck in a ditch that's probably what this is for then cuz it it doesn't really make sense that it's here cuz basically all the other traffic we were going through is in Charlotte and like the outskirts of Charlotte so that makes sense Rush Hour Charlotte it is 6:30 now it's been traffic since like 4:30 um but then I saw this patch up here when I was looking for a place to stop and get fuel and I was like what that what is that for it looks like there's nothing up there which is why I stopped earlier to get fuel but that's definitely what it's for d I don't know how they even going to get that out and in the mountains now you can kind of see the peaks in the background there not sure if we got to go over any big mountain climbs on this uh this route or not guess we'll find out won't we I just felt my ears pop oh there's a truck pulling off oh he's getting off oh gosh it's chaos what is happening there a lot going on up here have to put you guys down but we're into the mountains truck's got to really uh earn its keep here all right I got to let you go I got to downshift you can see all the trucks with their hazards on cuz we're going up a mountain this is the first time I've had to tow up a mountain with this truck um but the trucks just lose speed on a long grade when they're going up steep grades but short they can carry speed from the next though this guy's really going to screw me if he doesn't speed up soon um but you know when you're doing that over two three 3 4 miles you lose your run and then it's low gear and Full Throttle we're running a steady 20 lb oh there's 30 lb of boo 20 lb but she's doing good so far knock on wood I don't even want to say those things but Co temp stay steady egts are a little spicy for my liking but trying to minimize I try to stay under 20 lbs of boost if I can for sustained periods so you know we're in between 15 and 20 chugging away how fast are we going 65 not bad going through a Donal donel there one thing I hate about this truck 1100 1200 RPM right now there it goes it finally down no right back to fourth gear it's so silly the shift strategy is awful like throttle does nothing and it's terrible for a diesel to Lug it at low RPM or put it under a lot of load at low RPM so I've got I end up having to manually shift it with the buttons which you got to press them like three times to get them to work sometimes might as well have a stick shift [Music] [Music] [Music] well we made it parked up in the parking lot oh trailer lights at night so nice I got all our tires car is unstrapped I thought about just driving the car over to my room cuz it's kind of far but I got the one wheel so at least for tonight I'm just going to ride the one wheel over there this is our uh Paddock literally a closed down Rose wild so hilly too oh man the camera never does it justice West Virginia gets a lot of hate for certain things but it is one of the I would say top three most beautiful States I've been to uh it is incredible here so let's get this car unloaded I think this is where we're supposed to be all I saw ahead of me was trucks and trailers oh it's chiloo [Music] [Music] [Music] oh shoot this is the wildest uh pit Paddock I have ever seen in my life look at this dude this is crazy morning morning dudee this is wild my mind is blown right now it just doesn't stop don't dude I didn't even recognize you we do want to take this very serious because like these guys put a lot of effort to put this on very happy you guys have all been selected to do this but at the end of the day this is a serious thing you can talk to some of the guys that were here before like it is serious please the number one thing is to be safe cuz if one of you guys up then we can't drive and that's what we're really upset about let's be honest you know I mean we want you to get hurt or anything like that [Music] [Music] so I always tell myself at a new track where I can't see the whole track that I'm going to do a sight laap and I don't know if I ever do a sight laap and if there was any time where I should have done a sight lab this would be it I don't know if we're going uphill or downhill but Chelsea's in front of me and and if he drifts it I'm going to drift it I mean that's the most exciting part is having no idea what's coming around the next corner so we're going to send it woo that was nuts I did it first dve with Chelsea I had no idea what the road was what the corners was my car was like hiccuping so hopefully it cleared itself up I don't know what that was and we're going back up wo oh [Music] wellow that was uh amazing kept having this Hiccup and I can see the air fuel was going red I don't know it's weird but I want to check it out cuz that's this is not the place to have your car cutting out on and off on you it did it at first and I thought maybe the the Holly had to learn a weird spot that's now changed with uh the different pumps but I I don't know weird I wish I had datal loged it all right first to First Complete lap down and up was uh intense man it literally is like if we were to drift the dragon which is something I've always dreamed of doing it's there's a lot of elevation lot very twisty turns guard rails you know it's in drifting I mean in anything the more you do it the more proficient you get in it the more second nature it is and it's been a long time since I've been drifting and it's like chaos I can't think about anything else all I can focus on is not dying you know you know and that's that's what we do this for you know to find those new challenges and that was intense the first run though I was so the the fuel cut thing was annoying so I I was just thinking about that and kind of on edge as to whether it was going to do it again it only did it once on the runup so I don't know if there's a weird spot in the tune and the H's going to learn it out or if that one pump isn't isn't enough so I went ahead and changed the setting to where that second pump will come on at 3,000 RPM which is how I had the old setup and we'll see how that does you going back out is that [ __ ] dud wild it's wild wild like I was shaking that's the first time in a long time that I've done anything drifting where I couldn't just think about random things while I was doing it I know I was just like fully focused I'm still getting warmed up and then we'll get some laugh I'm so glad we're here same dude we're behind the Miata are we going are we going please don't feel cut this time car please be good to me this is not the time or the place to be doing that nonsense you just wait till we get back to of you then you can do it oh [Music] it's seemed better that time I got to give these people some more space next time car feels a lot better with a little more grip I like grip gives me that control slow down accelerate this is wild dude w you almost died I'm going down yeah the gravel yeah saw that I was you the black than me I was like he's about to die well the the people in front of me just stopped drifting and then I hit the gravel after that but I was fine [Music] [Music] so this might not be obvious um but the downhill is definitely sketchier than the uphill cuz as you're going uphill if you come in too hot you're going to naturally slow down because you're climbing if you're going downhill when you come in too hot you're going to naturally kind of accelerate um so it seems like a lot of these guys aren't doing the downhill which I didn't realize until I was too close to them to have enough room to drift the downhill myself so in the future or next you know I got to give them a little more space [Applause] [Music] [Music] no [Music] [Music] a [Music] no [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] what w w a [Music] oh w [Music] [Music] [Music] oh [Music] yeah my mother dude that was amazing thank you that was awesome dude that was good dude that was so fun hey let's go I'll I'll wait for you up here I'll wait at my trailer okay well this is officially the craziest driving I've ever done in my life that chase run on Vin going up going down was a little tricky man I mean one we had cars not drifting in front of us on and off so I wasn't sure when he was going to you know where his limit was to shut it down you know how close he was going to get before he shut it down and but going up man W gosh I was pushing it I was pushing it I was definitely pushing it like it was a little risky at times but awesome awesome he's changing tires right now I think we still got yeah we still got 15 minutes I think basically the track goes cold from 45 to the next time so in this scenario from 2:45 to 3 this is I don't know if there's another session after this but 45 to 3 every the last 15 minutes of every hour so that locals can't get through cuz like people live you know on the other side of this road and stuff so we got 15 minutes but I want to be ready [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Music] no so I had just enough time left at the end of the day for a full lap down and back up and since I was leading I decided I was going to send it and go fast into the start cuz I didn't have to worry about catching anyone but normally the end of the day is when things go wrong and they do oh w oh [Music] oh [Music] [Music] I think my fuel system boiled over and Vapor locked I had this happen before it gets too hot cuz I have like no fuel I have like 15 lbs of fuel pressure [Music] it's a Hybrid fuel pump [Music] yeah I can make it from here [Music] [Music] the red dot in the middle hold on one second let me get this blue but the onof reset the onoff reset button is that what it says next to it the little Sparky one this one okay yeah one second though wait yeah yeah all right ready yep yeah it's just like barely dribling there's no way I heard it kick on like that's all that came out of the so me and my buddy Sloan diagnosed the fuel system and what do you know we didn't really need the surge tank pumps after all I think our problem the whole time was lift the lift pump from the tank to the surge tank and I basically I pulled the line off going into the surge tank and turned the ignition on which would turn that fuel pump on and fuel should have geered out and instead it dribbled out so we're going to have to try to fix this thing at the hotel in the parking lot because not only do we need to drive tomorrow but tonight is a police escorted cruise to downtown for a block party where everyone's going to be bringing their drift cars it's going to be crazy and I want to make that cruise that's one of the coolest parts of the trip so we tow it back to the hotel and uh it's time to get to work current situation car is taken apart in the parking lot we're going to change the fuel pump this is the brushless one I've had for like 5 years and the sock was super gross so I think my tank needs to be replaced and I sucked a bunch of stuff up in it um Cru into town what ready cruise into town I not quite I know what' you do I got to change my fuel pump fuel pump yeah it's always something I know I just changed both my surge tank pumps and it turns out it was my intank pump was the problem so now I'm putting a different intank pump but the wiring is different cuz that's a brushless pump this is a non- brushless pump so now I got to rewire it and then put it all back together and then see if it works no big deal yeah all right we got it done it's a brand new screwdriver dude he's still struggling with that oh yes oh it's going it's going we don't even need to put this back in but he's been adamant putting it back in I had three bolts 30 minutes ago and I had to pick out 75 lb of freaking fiberglass insulation but we're going to run the the drive with the top off cuz we already have it off I might as well so we're doing the downtown Drive topless topless we had to pull the top off this guy's going wild but it fixed it we fixed it we got a fresh actually the fuel pump we put in is the one I replaced from the surge tank uh but that one was still good for sure I think my whole problem was the LIF pump either the controller or the pump getting hot and then shutting off cuz once it cools down it was fine so as if drifting a Mountain Road wasn't cool enough they organized this police escorted Drive about 30 minutes into the major downtown area nearby um so I I registered my car just so that I could drive it around if I wanted to but even if the cars aren't registered this is a police escort drive so the straight up race cars get to do this drive too and what a what a cool feeling to roll into downtown with a bunch of drift cars and a bunch of locals who are as stoked as we are to be there look at this dude all those cars down there there's not car is all the way this is Straight Up Walk party this is so cool feels like we're about to go street drifting want [Music] so after an awesome literally Unforgettable night of cruising around with a bunch of race cars in West Virginia it was uh it was time to drive again and do some laps but unfortunately our problems are not over up [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] so on the run back up the hill my car completely cut out again just like it was doing the first day and like I said this is not really the place where you want that to happen it could end very badly so I decided to drift the rest of the lap and just see if it was going to do it again if this was a problem that's going to happen a lot and it was fine for the rest of the lap but I decided to take it to my pits investigate see if I could find anything and then go back out and see if it did it again even though I didn't find anything wrong with it but you know you got to try a no [Music] so while the hard cut problem didn't resurface a new problem did and that was the car breaking up really bad at high RPM so I decided it was time to call [Music] it and we're off got Herz rig over there Shane it's a beautiful day today man wow all right we're out this is wild so I saw Chelsea last night he stayed at a different Hotel 20 minutes away we both talked about how we were trying to leave around 8 but we weren't planning on meeting up and as I was turning out of the resort he drove by and I'm right behind him now I mean I'm cing up to him see him he's he's right up there like we if we had tried to plan that to G boy it would have been harder than what just happened I just can't believe we just ended up perfectly meeting up with each other from two separate places oh man that's funny when you all leave at different times and end up convoying Sloan and Vincent are mobbing me and Chelsea are cruising man I need forward H sl's way out ahead and then Chelsea I caught up to him but I had to really mob it down the hills oh gosh thisi is getting a little close uh yeah I really get after it down the hills I just don't have it up the hill I'm also tellone the heaviest trailer of all three both of them are open trailer I got an inclosed 28t inclose at that but trying to keep up with Chelsea But It's Tricky just up the hills man I ain't got nothing for him I'm all in to do 70 and I'm scared I'm going to blow this thing up poor truck well the old Dodge managed to keep pace through the mountains we're still with Chelsea and Sloan and Vincent are right up there they pulled way ahead for a while there and now they're only two cars up it's so funny like none of us planned that anyway we're going to stop soon cuz I am almost out of fuel this thing has a tiny tank literally a 30 gallon tank my uh old Superduty had a freaking 48 gallon tank it was amazing dang I'd love to be out in the water right now that looks amazing jealous look at all those boats look at all those boats all right well we made it back home we made great time uh both ways it was nice convoying all the way back with Chelsea uh I had a blast the truck and trailer did really well I'm still kind of on the fence what I want to do longterm trailer wise I'd really like to phase that rig out and focus on the bus and make the bus kind of the prior priority there there's a there's a lot there but the truck did good it didn't let me down I trust it it was nice to not worry about it um and it did well made the whole trip without issue so shout out shout out to the truck and the trailer of course you know that thing's perfect so anyway um what an amazing time a huge shout out to the drift Appalachia guys for putting that on and for inviting me out you know I am so grateful I got the opportunity to go drive that I really hope I get to drive the next one hopefully with less car issues it's it's not normal this car has a bunch of issues but you know that's what happens when cars sit they need to get used regularly and you work those little bugs out as you go instead of all at once so you know it's part of it definitely not mad at the old girl um but you know I decided the second day the car was just having issues and I was like you know what I feel like I got my fix I got my driving in the first day I did a ton of laps I had a absolute blast uh I don't want to risk wading the car out because it just cuts out at the wrong time you know again that's not the place where you that's bad bad place for that kind of thing to happen so decided to call it but man what a just what a cool thing like it is probably the coolest drifting thing I've ever done for sure you know and basically the mayor I think of that town be Beckley I I hope I'm not mispronouncing it he's a Gearhead and he passed a bill to say hey let us use these public roads that our tax dollars pay for to have people come here and race and you know bring in tax revenue and and all this stuff and bring people to our beautiful State and it it took some time to like actually make it happen but now it's happening and how cool is that you know and the the amount of people that it took all the cogs of the wheels you know from the drift series and then the back roads of appalache guys and then you know the mayor passing the bill there's so much involved in making that happen um and to be part of it just it definitely not only feels like but is something very special and I'm very very grateful I got the opportunity to do that and uh I really hope again that I to go to the next one cuz that was the most intense drifting I've ever done in my life I mean and videos you know you hear people say this and you're like yeah sure it doesn't but videos don't do it justice it just doesn't do it I felt like I was driving like a baby when I was watching the video back because you know I'm hand breaking and stuff when I didn't need to but you you don't really you can't see the same as you do on video and this it's a lot more elevation change and it's a lot quicker and it's just it was intense and it's been a while since some drifting got my blood pumping like that you know and so I just I could go on and on this has been a long one so I'm going to let you guys go but let me know what you guys think of the trip of the toga drifting uh of all of it of the Miata uh again we' got some issues we're going to have to uh sort out it's probably something silly but you know part of it so I'll see you guys for all that we got a lot of stuff to do here now that we're back home U before the next trip so I am going to end it here but thank you guys for watching thanks for subscribing and I will see you next time goodbye
