is [Music] [Music] [Music] so what's going on guys welcome back to the channel in today's video we're gonna be back to work on our mclaren 720s as you guys seen in the previous video we did some of the bodywork on the rear quarter panels and we did a little test repair on this little uh i guess it's like a side skirt right here it goes on the door and we filled it all in and i kind of got a hammer and i just wanted to test how strong it was and it adhered really good to our original fiberglass so that's really good but in today's video i really want to start focusing on repairing this driver's side door right here there's a couple of cracks right here so we're going to grind all the paint off of it and use our fiberglass mat and repair it and once we repair these doors we are going to go ahead and put everything in primer we still have like a couple of imperfections in this bodywork that we need to just go over and everything will be ready for primer and hopefully by the end of this episode we'll get everything in primer and we can get this car almost ready for paint you guys have been reading a lot of comments and a lot of people are saying to keep this original gold color but honestly i don't know we'll see how hard it is to actually match this color because the only way we're actually going to be able to do it is finding a similar color and kind of tinting it because i can't get it from mclaren but i'm kind of leaning towards naruto gray or white those are two colors i kind of want to paint this car and i think the nardo gray would look pretty good especially like the audi and ardo great it's like a really deep gray it looks super cool especially with like all the black accents then we can paint the calipers red and then just keep the rims black i think it would look pretty cool first thing we need to do is go ahead and remove this door panel right here we need to remove this bottom section and then this top section so we go ahead and get started on repairing this clarins certified door prop [Music] wow [Music] so i was actually planning on fixing this blue door right here but as you can see this corner area is kind of broken and it's like really super thin over here so i'm thinking we're probably gonna fix this door right here because all it is is cracked right here by this mirror area and i think this is gonna be a lot easier to fix because it's really just a flat surface it's really not on the edge and this edge is pretty thin so it could possibly break at some point and also once the mirror goes on it's going to hold this entire area pretty tight right here so what we're going to do is go ahead and disassemble this door all we need to do is take off the backing plate as you can see this is the original door skin so let's get this door skin removed so we got the entire door stripped down and this is gonna be much easier than fixing the other door all we have is a little bit of damage right here which we will use our 3m special uh fiberglass repair right there but here we're going to use the actual weave so now what we need to do is basically sand this entire area down and get all the cracks out of it [Music] [Music] so we got everything pretty much sanded down and ready for some fiberglass we kind of have to grind out this entire area but we did grind everything in the back now what we need to do is mix up some resin and start filling it in [Music] so [Music] hey [Music] [Music] [Music] hmm [Music] [Music] [Music] oh [Music] huh [Music] [Music] oh tell me [Music] so we got all the fiberglass work done on the door it is taking a bit longer to dry because it is colder out today than it was yesterday like the other fiberglass dried up pretty quick so now while we wait for that to dry we actually need to go ahead and start disassembling this door right here because as you guys know we do have a little bit of damage right here right above this little 720s emblem and then we also have this little crack right here which is going to be pretty easy to fix we're simply just going to make a new piece just like that so first things first we need to go ahead and start taking this door apart and it's going to be a little bit harder than the other side because we do need to take this door panel off and honestly i don't even know where to start on this thing like it's so it's a pretty weird looking door handle but i think we'll probably go ahead and just start taking this thing off right here and easily get this thing off [Music] this [Music] [Music] so so we've got the passenger side door panel off all we need to do is fix this slight little uh crack right here it shouldn't be too hard on this side this uh driver's side is already nice and hardened so it's ready to sand and one thing i did notice when i was taking off this door panel is how wavy these these door panels are i don't know what's going on with it either that's just how they are so what we'll probably do is block it down really nice and throw a thick layer of primer over everything block that down and hopefully that'll be fine but what i'm gonna do right now is grab the sander and sand this top layer down and see how it turns out [Music] [Music] so check this out guys we got it all sanded down everything turned out really nice and smooth now all it needs is a light coat of body filler and this door panel will be done so what we're going to do right now is mix up some body filler slap it on here and while this is drying we're actually going to get started on our other door this one should be a lot easier to repair because it's just a really small crack right here all we're going to do is put a backing panel put some fiberglass and some resin in there and then both these doors will be done today [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] we got all the filling work done on this door went ahead and put it on everything went on pretty good now what we need to do is go ahead and get started on this passenger door over here first thing we're going to do is basically just clean it up exactly how we did that side [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Applause] [Music] to get the passenger door all nice and prepped now all we need to do is wipe it all down with some wax and grease remover and then mix up some of the resin and the cloth and put it on [Music] so [Music] [Music] we get this all fiberglass up and now what we're gonna do once it dries up is simply trim this off perfectly just like that and all the body lines will be there this is gonna take quite a bit to dry so what we're gonna do is go ahead and start sanding our other door right here that we put some filler on [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] so we got this door all nice and sanded out it's absolutely turning out perfect and we are gonna have to cut the hole for the mirror as you can see we did kind of fill that hole in and if we look on this door right here there's supposed to be a hole like that so what we're probably going to do is make a nice template and put it on there and then take it off and then cut this hole out which that'll be a little bit later but now that we got this door done we need to go ahead and start working on our other door check this out guys the door came out perfect it's all nice and dry we already took off this clamp right here now we just need to take off this clamp down here and we did put a stick back here just to kind of reinforce it and hold it up so we can get it in the perfect position take that stick off we went ahead and took all the clamps off now what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna go ahead and put a nice tape line right here and trim all this excess off [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so guys the fiberglass work is done on the passenger side door check that out it looks really good and we also went ahead and put a nice backing panel from the back we still need to smooth it out really good but once it's all done you'll never even be able to tell that this door was ever filled which is pretty crazy because there was a pretty big chip out of here and it's nice and strong i can't even move it we reinforced it really good so guys that's gonna be a wrap for today's video we pretty much have all the body work done on the mclaren we did have to order some special primer so we can prime everything in because as you guys know we are going to prime pretty much this entire door right here and same thing with this one try to get some of these waves out of the door i don't know why the doors are so wavy on a 300 000 car especially i don't know if it's like that on the newer mclaren's but who knows but if you enjoyed today's episode go ahead and smash that like button in the next episode we'll get everything nice and primed in and probably start the wet sanding process and then it's off to paint and guys i think i've decided on a color i'm thinking i'm gonna paint it nardo gray drop a comment down below and see what you guys think about it thanks for [Music] watching
