Fishing Bridges for FLATHEAD CATFISH

they compete on location Jake behind the cam this is North Woods angling listen guys we read the comments we see what you guys are asking us and one thing that always comes up is flathead location patterning these fish and getting on big flathead catfish they're super widespread you can catch them anywhere through the country what we're gonna do tonight is show you a couple of real typical flathead catfish environments that we have good success at so we're gonna head upstream we're gonna go as far as we want to go and work our way back that's always the way to do it's the safest way to do it and we have to about 1 a.m. so let's do this [Music] [Applause] [Music] let me show you this rich shine absolute giant [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so we just pulled up to our first spot real excited here because this this landscapes changed a little bit every year this river changes and I think that's super super cool because you can fish in different water each time you're out so this is a creek that's actually gushing some water out here it's clear water mixed with the dirty river water and so you have this little line on the water where you can see the light and dark water and we have some wood five to eight feet in the back there and then it drops down into the main channel so that's a real good spot to find flat heads they like to stay in the wood during the day and come out towards dusk and bite our bait let's get some bait Jacob you're in the way we'll head for you here they're feisty that's how we use them all big locally caught bull heads it's our bait of choice Peter Hamby this show these guys what we have going on here I'm gonna take this Gamakatsu big river hook we're gonna put it right through his back at a 45 degree angle right past his spine so everything's captured right there nice big piece of meat holding that wide gap of the hook five ounces of weight should keep this bait pegged on the slow side of our set on the slow side of the current seen where this Creek is coming in so Peter okay it's this one out and we'll clip the next one with a little bit heavier of a lead weight I'm gonna get this real close to the bank right by the wood that we marked it's real important to get it right by oh yes he's just short of it it was just past that I think it's sitting pretty so we run clickers on these so you do a clicker you open the bail and that's what you got going on right there you can slowly pull and it gives a nice click indicator so we can know that a fish is on or not they usually just smash it there's no mistake in a flathead catfish bite that's for sure so we're gonna get a couple fish I can feel it Blake's with us he's usually good luck [Music] Moe bikes at the first spot we we're gonna go set up on a little bit better of a log jam these fish are really holding the wood right now that's where a lot of the fish are being caught so we're gonna move there for the sunset [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] spot number two spot number one was a bus it was just down river on the opposite side was a Creek Inlet a little bit of wood this is a gigantic noisy bridge bridges cross rivers all across the country and what they oftentimes do is they'll contain a ton of structure and that's exactly what we're focusing now sometimes the pain of having to deal with the sound can be worth the reward of a gigantic fish caught from underneath the river bridge so I'll put this one on the inside and shallow welcome to North Lords angling I'm six feet tall now he's seven feet tall incarnate he's he's a little buddy buddy hey buddy this is real this is no joke oh sudden that bait was just dancing on the end there and then boom you could see just a little bit something different that wasn't the fish she's still there it looks like I'm just gonna give him the beans yep got to get him out of the wood real quick though he definitely feels I could be some fish net we're hooked up is this that is this certain that's not I don't think we have another one sure anyways well with flat heads you can usually just grab them by the mouth so it doesn't really matter this isn't that ain't gonna do us much good it's a decent fish eye exam a lot was for him to his face minute he just pounded it and these are with it sat there for a good few minutes you wanna bring him to that side of the boat do a little bit of rod dancing here it's definitely a good fish this is so awesome we knew it was gonna be a decent night we had a nice front come in oh yeah step forward and I'll try again to scoop for you he sings just dig in the current to which is so much net you got a little coffee back here good way to start a second spot Peter yeah thank you sir yeah so second spot we set up on we wanted it a little bit heavier wood and we got it and like I said it's there's no mistake in where we're at but this hooks right in the top corner of the mouth right where you want it a little bit of blood just from being hooked up there but I'll show you this fish nice little flathead that's a nice big ol flatty right here this is what we're after target species a lot of times we get smaller fish mix with the big fish is a perfect medium sized fish take it any day we are after jumbo Jumbo's forty fifty pounders so we're gonna get this fish back we're gonna get a another bait out and we're gonna pound a big one tonight that's so much fun I love holding these fish alright I'm gonna get this fish back in the water nice and healthy just the way we like it suit fish can swim off and reproduce and look at that great great fish thank you buddy those fun dark for where we're fishing usually they're a little bit lighter than this but get that stick out of his mouth and when they bite down on your finger when your hands in their mouth you know they're they're ready to go so we don't have this fish out of water [Music] [Applause] [Music] Wow that's a wake-up call right there didn't even move [Music] yeah [Music]
