oh now i know what you're thinking we've already featured the ferrari 812 superfast several times on love cars but you see this isn't an 8-1-2 super fast it's an 8-1-2 gts as i know it looks very similar and it does have the same 800 horsepower 6.5 liter v12 under that long elegant bonnet but the more observant of you we've already noticed it doesn't have rear coarse-like windows and it has more bulbous buttresses in fact it's got a completely redesigned rear end and there's a very good reason for that you see it's a convertible sorry spider but i'm not going to demonstrate that to you right now firstly because it looks like it's about to rain secondly you might not be able to hear me over the wind noise but more importantly my covered hair will be blown all over the place but it's actually a pretty special spider because it's the first full production front engine v12 ferrari spider since the 1969 365 gts4 better known as the daytona so named because it celebrated ferrari's famous one two three finish at the 1967 daytona 24 hour race something the payback for ford having the same result of the more the year before okay there have been some limited production special editions produced since then including the 2000 550 barcata pininfarina followed five years later by the super america then there was the sa opera in 2010 and finally the f-60 in which only 10 were made in 2014 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of ferrari entering the american market and what that means is that instead of just a lucky few being able to buy this ferrari spider we all can well assuming we have the requisite 293 000 pounds and that's without any extras and of course this car being one of the press cars is stacked full of extras in order to demonstrate to potential customers what they might like to have from this car that includes 22 000 pounds worth of carbon fiber add-ons including this carbon fiber steering wheel then there's the five and a half grand for the matte black rims one and a half thousand pounds for the rear view parking camera which you probably want three and a half thousand pounds for the passenger dashboard display which you definitely don't want well not if my wife's sitting over there you don't and then two and a half thousand pounds for apple carplay which you definitely do want so with a few more little gems added on this actual car we're sitting in cost 335 thousand pounds not got that well in that case you're just gonna have to trust me to tell you what this car is like and brilliant not to 62 in under three seconds a top speed of over 200 miles an hour and that v12 just singing under the bonnet driving a car like this is going to put a smile on anyone's face there really is no difference in the driving experience of this or the superfast okay it's 120 kilograms heavier because when they chop the roof off that district in the chassis but then when a car weighs 1645 kilograms you're not really going to notice the difference oh yes the roof i've forgotten about the roof but then you see i'm the sort of guy that lights the windows up and the air conditioning on and with me covered length hair it's gonna be flying all over the place and it'll be drafty but all right just for you will slow down to under 30 miles an hour and we'll put the roof down [Music] 14 seconds he says we're done and now [Music] now it is a very different car because you got so many different sounds it handles the same but all of a sudden your senses are heightened now i want to play with those manatino settings i want to go to race i want to hear the engine more ferrari now offer a few high-performance drive resistance features including fpp ferrari peak performance and fpo ferrari power oversteer which according to the wording in the press pack in case of oversteer the steering wheel torque will give the driver feedback to give steering wheel inputs that are coherent with realigning a car correctly i think i'll just stick it to esc off and use a dab of oppo that's the only problem you're hearing that wonderful v12 you want to hear it even more but if you want to use those 8 900 revs that really make the engine sing the sad thing is you can only use it watch the lights in first gear and most of the second gear but not all of second gear so you only actually get the 8 900 limit in first gear if you're sticking to the speed limits which means i just keep on having to slow down to first gear and then the only thing when the roads get a bit narrow you do begin to realize how big this car is oh blimey this is more like a mini stealth stealth [Music] this is tight and now the sun's come out to play they keep on saying that you know this car or that car may well be the last ever normally aspirated v12 and maybe this isn't because times they are changing so if you've got a spare 300 grand then you want probably the best possible open top car in the world to take for a local cruise down to your local pub for some light refreshment but i can't think of anything better than this 812 gts now that looks like a nice little boozer i wonder who the landlord may be pint of your best bitter please
