what is up everyone welcome back to the channel today I'm going to show you how to restore a plastic headlight so most likely if you have a mid 90s or in your car that you have a plastic headlight so what they do from the factory since it's plastic they just add a clear coat on it and so just to protect it through the years the rain and the Sun and the environmental facts and you driving down the highway and stuff like that start damaging the clear coat and start eating through the clear coat like this if you can see closer here the clear coat is all damaged that's why it gets that hazy look and it gets yellowed over time so the fastest cheapest possible way to restore this headlight is to scuff all that clear coat off and then record it with a new clear coat so it looks good so I'm gonna show you how to do it as cheap as possible you don't need any kids to do that nothing Oh what you need is a clear coat spray a fine grit sanding don't go to too rough what I have here is 800 grit I'm just gonna wet sand it real good and then I am going to click record it with a clear coat with a good clear coat so it looks good this is my parts car so I don't really care about the body too much if you have if it's your car you just want to mask the around it like this and open the hood you know you're not gonna damage anything just mask it real nice and it takes an extra minute so let's get to restoring this headlight you start sending you want to keep it which all the time okay so quickly check out all that dirty stuff that I iced cuffed off by sanding it off the upper light see look at that you know dirty buddy okay now we're gonna clean it up real good drive all that down just make sure you send it everything very nicely okay now we want to wipe it clean so it's ready for clear coat okay so after what sending this looks perfect that's what you want it to look like it's all hazed up because we wait sanded it it all looks like it's one layer it's all hazy and now we're gonna wipe it off with rubbing alcohol to get it mmm perfectly clean so now we can spray the clear coat on there case you know justyou know nice and clean now give it a few seconds what I have here is rust-oleum 2x gloss clear coat any quality clear coat should work you want to shake it real good you want to spray it from side to side like this check how it's coming out that's amazing after just the first clear coat look at it that's crazy that's really really nice that's really really really shiny and clear and perfect I'm gonna throw just one more coat after ten minutes after this dries out so just to get it super super perfect but even with one coat I mean look at it it's crazy crazy clean super nice like brand new okay so now I'm gonna throw the second and last coat it's been around four or five minutes it dried out it already looks super super nice I mean I don't need any any better results but I'm just gonna throw the second coat just to give it an extra durability and to protect it and to have it to last longer so I'm gonna start on the second coat alright guys that was it for today's upload I don't I can't think of any more affordable and faster way to do this I believe this is the best method ever you don't have to buy any special kits or anything like that and throw your money down the drain I hope this was helpful I always have these items in my tool shed like always I always have clear code and rubbing alcohol water of course and a soft sanding grit which I had eight hundred please guys give this video like please subscribe let me know what you think in the comment section thank you for watching and I will catch you in the next one [Music]
