hi I'm Travis I'm Aaron and we are our lively tribe today is an exciting day because the aloha renovation goes to her new family man his wildest and this is a crazy important one this is our first rig that we were hired by the family to hire to go and purchase a rig renovate it to their like needs and what they're gonna be doing with it and then deliver it for them so one of the fun parts about it was that they were kind of like do your thing yeah there are a few things we need these are a few things we don't want other than that just go for it and we really got to put everything that we love into this renovation and I am so excited for this family this family is a family of four they are a military family and the husband is retiring and they are gonna travel the whole u.s. for a year so stay tuned to the end of this video when we do the big reveal they'll be here in two hours and they get to see their new home we haven't shared a lot especially the final look of it all at all on Instagram because we really want it to be a surprise for them so stay tuned to the end and you'll get to see them come in and see it for the first time I mix that I can't wait I have no idea what they're expecting no way they're stoked you'll see but right now we are going to give you the tour we're gonna walk you through and show you everything that we've and here's an airplane flying over we are gonna share with you all of the hard work that travis has put into this renovation and give you before-and-afters so here we go action we purchased a 2009 Keystone hideout to renovate for a family of four and they are going to travel full time in this RV so we took that into consideration when we renovated it we used peel and stick tiles we made sure that everything is bolted down we made sure everything has locks and latches that they stay shut during travel because they're gonna take this one on the road and they are going to adventure and what's really cool is we did the exact same thing in 2016 we've renovated an RV for our family and we traveled full-time so I'm really excited for them to do the same so we'll take you around and show you what we did cool so this is the front master room and like most RVs that have the walk around bed that we rip out and we build the bed up high on a dresser and Travis custom-built the shelf above and the closet at the end and there is so much storage in here so Travis adds four full-size drawers as you can see they're very deep and they hold quite a bit of clothing so there's two of those there's also this large cabinet they can put laundry hampers in storage space up above they have the bookshelf that has a little bit of a ledge so they technically could keep books and things on there while they're traveling baskets that sort of thing I wouldn't keep the plant up there that's just there because it looks nice and on this side there's a full closet with a bar up up top and Travis custom-built this whole piece Travis custom-built this unit here it was a storage unit that hides the outside shower water lines and then up here I think it was like a box TV space well they don't want to TV at all so we took the entire thing out built new cabinets a drawer and a cabinet above here and what I like about this cabinet up here is it has an outlet in the back so that's just one of those mom perks so I would say that they could use that as like a charging station they can charge phones iPads that sort of thing up there they've got a large drawer here and then this rig didn't have a pantry space so we built this space below that they could use for Travis's camera or for pantry items and if we move this way we love building the couches that have storage storage when you're traveling full time when this is your full-time home you really need space for your things so this couch travis built and it has drawers underneath powells blankets winter clothes schoolbooks you name it anything can go in there he uses a heavy utility slide so what you call them no sounds good to me on the sides that they can hold more weight and we size it out in IKEA mattress so it's a large lounge space but it also can serve as a bed so if they have guests they can use it as a bed space we left the above cabinet storage here and put new doors on that and then we'll move on to this space which is what a Travis's favorite things to build and I'll let him share with you about the table picked up these chairs at HomeGoods the lamp on amazon a lot of people ask about RV lighting and how you go ahead and switch these out find the lamp fixture that you like purchase it and then you need to add a switch to it it's pretty simple to drill a hole and buy that switch at Lowe's you need a 12 volt light bulb and it should work and then in here more storage right here is one of my favorite drawers because it fits an instant pot so very large good for kitchen items or school books because they will be homeschooling while they travel we didn't rebuild any of the kitchen we added a new countertop new faucet new sink new drawer pulls we did take out the microwave and put a door there they did not want a microwave so this storage space is fantastic and then we added peel-and-stick backsplash we did peel and stick because they are going to travel full time and we don't want to risk anything cracking so we use these I'll add where I got those I think they were Quadro style stickers and and we did that the refrigerator is the original one but we replaced the front of it and it's really easy to do you can pop these off on the side and slide out the face and then Travis just painted some wood what is it you mmm-hmm something with like quarter-inch plywood texture okay beneath that put that in here and that's now the new face of the bridge I should have you do the bathroom because you did all this well you picked it all out I did pick it all out and Travis did all the work like everything else the bathroom we put the most time and effort probably into the bathroom it's funny MA the guy who works with us he's like man the smallest room gets the most attention and it's very true doing this tile and this tile we're we saw someone who had done it I don't know who it is I'll have to find that we'll find him kiss and I was like oh my gosh we just did that tile in our floor on the flooring and she just did it on the wall that looks amazing yes so that inspired us to do it this space yeah so this took some serious serious patience and effort but the end result is so worth it so this area is pretty pretty darn cold - what's old Travis on this rig was the potential that this backspace had when you walked in here there was an l-shaped bunk so there was a lower bunk that went across this section and then a top buck that went across this section and then ended with a big bulky storage system it wasn't super functional this space wasn't used well so we opened it up by taking all of that out and Travis rebuilt these bunks they have two young kids so they'll both fit on this bunk space we measured the bunk sizes to an Ikea mattress IKEA has mattresses that you can break into three different parts and so we use two of the three parts to make this mattress space and both of their kids can sleep back here he welded and built this letter that also provides support that also provides support and we put in some wallpaper in the back that is like ocean wave themed it was so fun to put it you've seen that in this section we purchased this outdoor locker system from Ikea I wanted to put in a piece of furniture in here I feel like furniture makes a space really feel more like home under this locker system is the electrical line that is used for the entire RV so we were able to box that in under the locker and then the kids have this large Locker space for clothing for toys for books for all sorts of things it's a really cool space and then it really opens up this room to give them a play area a place to sit a place to play and we added in the IKEA bookshelves this family also wanted the availability for a third bed so what we did was we built a trundle bed and underneath the lower bunk we have a large drawer and what they can do is they can throw a mattress inside of here but until they need it it is a huge storage space so the kids clothes can go in here toys can go in here it is such an amazing drawer I would have loved this drawer when we were traveling so until they need this space for a kid to sleep they can use it as storage because this family is traveling full-time and will be on the road a lot Travis added these cool locks to this bottom drawer to make sure that it stays closed during travel there's one on each end and those little things are really important if you're going to be on the road a lot so there are certain things that when I build these trailers I look forward to doing and the doors are always the one thing um so this part was very similar to what I did for the J feather but I wanted to change I want every time I do a new Mountain design I really want it to be something different so this is the design I came up with for this rig and I'm super stoked on it it's made out of maple plywood and these are just the this sight images of the pieces so yeah I'm super stoked on it came out really well so happy with it yeah and I built these custom handles for it they're matching on either side so yeah I love it how does it stay locked they're not fall off during trouble uh so those are super important things but it has these locking mechanisms that actually come with barn doors so that you're not able to lift it off the rack so that all the measurements for these are really important in these rigs so this thing's just measured to fit perfect so that there's actually no movement at all with this door beyond it being able to select it doesn't go up and down it doesn't go forward and back because it has a locking mechanism at the bottom so you have to route out the bottom you have to cut you know seam through it to be able to have it slide down there so and during travel it latches yeah I mean we put a locking latch on that it's kind of hidden behind it that you have to be able to lock very important otherwise this thing would definitely be rocking the role and in causing probably some serious damage so that's important to remember so I'll go to the next so when I get into these things there's always a few pieces that are one-of-a-kind custom for that exact trailer and those are my favorite parts of these and and this rig one of my favorite ones was this shelf right off the get-go Aaron had said she wanted a full-length shelf going across here and it took me a while to figure out what that was gonna look like and be but I was able to get it all together and I love love how it turned out I used some leftover cedar from from the edging that goes around the doors to make the brackets and the brackets are all angled so the angle is falling out so you have an angle going out and then a 90 so being able to match all those angles was challenging but so fun and I felt like it was totally worth it the end result so that's one of my favorite pieces that I got to do and then my other favorite piece is silly and simple as it seems was the ladder the ladder for me I was just so excited I couldn't configure it out for a little while and finally one night it just came to me and my favorite part about the ladder though it's so simple is how it structurally supported the bed when this was first up here you would pull on it and it would dip a little bit so when I came up with the design of the ladder and where to mount it these I knew these studs was gonna be exactly what this needed to support the whole bed and so yeah so this this ladder is pretty rad to me so the tables I they're always my favorite thing to build and I tend to always go back to the things I love most and I really love using cedar um it's uh my favorite wood so so we're getting to pick out all the pieces and build them as a really special table that's it's you know that looks really rad and they'll be able to enjoy themselves around it I don't know it means a lot to me too to know they'll be sitting around a table I built for him so yeah that's table and I built the leg the leg matches you know he sits right at 30 all the things that it's supposed to yeah [Music] [Music] [Music] there's a lot [Music] Oh [Music] so the family just left how'd it go great yeah Nikki cried so that was pretty awesome but they have the reaction that they love it like we love it and that's what is the most important thing and they appreciate the time and the energy that we put into it and I love it yeah we're super grateful oh yeah kids all over the place one over there one out there one walking away oh yeah yeah but yeah so you it was good it was I'm excited that it's they were finished up with it yeah I'm excited to see where they take it and this is the I'm gonna put the link right here to their Instagram so you can follow it and follow their adventures and where they go and yeah they wrote it's a really sweet sweet note mmm it's one of those things we used to make connections with our brides and grooms where we've become really lifelong friends with several of our brides and grooms and that's how it is with these families that were renovating RVs for I know that we will be friends with them yeah forever is oh yeah I'm super special so all right yeah good day Jean head over to our Instagram we have more before-and-afters will be posting and sharing what our next reservation is well the next one we gotta finishes Meredith rig me renamed after up she's next and Anna after that stay tuned peace out [Music]
