Hi, I’m Jenny from the MSQC. Take a look at this gorgeous quilt behind me. This is so pretty. It’s just so soft and romantic. It’s just really pretty. The fabric is called Petal. It’s by Tanya Wayland for Free Spirit by Westminster Fabrics. And it’s just a gorgeous line. Love this line. The whole quilt is made using this one block right here. So it’s a charm square that’s just bordered on two sides. Really a quick and easy project. To make this quilt you’re going to need four charm packs or a layer cake cut into fourths. You’re also going to need a little over a jelly roll. I’m not 100% sure on the yardage. But it’s about three yards. And you’ll cut that into 2 ½ inch strips or you can use a jelly roll. And I think it will take a little more than one. So what we’ve got going on here is we’re going to take our charm packs and we’re going to chain piece them. So what I like to do is I just lay my strip out. And you know I set that over on the sewing machine and I just put my charm on. And I’m going to sew down. And I don’t cut it or remove it at all. I just lay another one on like this. And I just keep sewing until the whole strip is full. Because you’re going to do this to all your charms in the whole charm pack. So once you get that done, see I have these right here sewn on. You can see that. You trim them. And I’m going to do that right now. Just trim off these edges. And you can do this with a scissor if you’re really careful. It’s a little more accurate to use a ruler. And then I’m going to put these over here on the ironing board because we’re going to press those open. So let me get these, I’m going to do a couple of these for you so that I can show you how, how I do this. There’s one more. Let’s do this last one. Ok so now what we’re going to do, we’ve sewn it on the one end, we’re going to press those open. And I’m, I’m just going to press these to the light side. You can do either way. I generally like to go to the dark but I like the, the ease of lifting up the smaller piece. So now what we’re going to do is we’re going to take our strip and we’re going to go over to the sewing machine. And actually I’ll just show you really quick here what I’m going to do. So I’m going to lay the whole piece on the strip like this and sew down it. And just add my next piece and add my next piece. And that will make the completed block. So let me show you how I’m doing this. And then I’m going to stop right at the end and add another block. And you really can put those as close together as you want to. I tend to leave a little bit of space, that’s just personal preference. And one more. Alright we’ve got those done. And now we’re just going to cut them apart. And so again I’m just going to use my ruler, cut these little pieces. And it’s kind of a good idea when you lay these out to, to, to lay them all out before you start because it’s, it’s easy to get that angle off, if you’re angley challenged like I am. So again I’m just going to go ahead and iron these. And I’m going to set my seam and roll them back. It’s just so easy to roll them back like that so they end up, they end up on the light side. But I think that’s ok in this instance. Of course I’m not, I don’t die over the whole pressing thing. I mean we do the best we can, right? Ok so on the first row we’ve got our, our, I call this the corner right here. This little edge right here I call the corner. And we’ve got our corner up to the top. And then the next one, our corner goes down to the bottom. Then when you lay the next piece out your two charms are going to touch. And again your corner is just going to go up to the top and down to the bottom like this. Can you see how that’s working? And then we’re going to do one more here. Actually let’s go ahead and start the next row. So next row is going to happen where you’re just going to start one block over. So this one goes down and then this one turns this way. And then this one goes this way. And you can see how that’s going to happen. So it starts the stagger where they come down like this. It just makes it really quick and easy. I’ve got another one to show you just to show you how quickly a quilt can change by changing the fabric. I made this one here out of Me and My Sister fabric called Good Morning. Look how darling that is and how bright and how different it looks just by changing the fabric. I call this Tumbling Charms. And I hope you enjoyed this tutorial from the MSQC.
