right hi I'm Jenny from the Missouri star quilt company I've got a really fun tutorial plan for you today it's this little quilt behind me this is the disappearing four patch now you've heard of the disappearing nine-patch or if you haven't you should check out that video but this is the disappearing floor patch and it's so quick and easy to make a quilt this size you're going to need to charm packs one printed charm pack and one solid charm pack now I'm using this Dillon charm pack by Windham fabrics by Whistler Studios for Windham and it is darling you know I love the blue and white stuff so it's just another one of those that I love so this whole block starts with a four patch and I'm going to show you how we make that we're just going to take two printed pieces and two solid pieces and put them together and we're going to chain piece those so I'm going to lay these fold them over just like this and then I'm going to pick this one up and we're going to just zip down the side of it quarter of an inch and then before I take that one down I'm going to grab this one here and we're going to zip crossed it okay so now let's come over here and clip these apart we're going to clip them and then we're going to head to the ironing board and iron them open now I like to iron mine so that the seam is going to end up on the dark side so if you lay your dark piece on top and you iron that and then just roll it back because whenever you're using a solid fabric or a light fabric you don't you're not going to want this seam part to show up on the light which it will do it will show right through if we're not careful okay so now I want to turn these so that they make a four patch just like that and we're going to sew these together and since we've pressed both those seams to the dark side to the dark side then who are kin nestling right up together and this will make a perfect four patch now if you want you can put a little pin right there I'm just going to hold those together with my fingers and we're going to go sew these together so here we go and I'm going to lift this up and make sure these are snug tight and then we are going to iron this open right here and just roll this back oops there we go so that makes a nice little four patch with a nice little closed Center so let me show you how we're going to do this we're going to take our four patch that we've sewn together and we're going to take our ruler and we're going to take our rotary cutter and we're going to lay this ruler the inch line on the seam so right here where you have your sewn seam together we're going to lay that ruler on there and we're going to make a cut just like that and then we're not going to move anything we're just going to turn our rotary mat and this is where those handy little spinning mats come in really handy because you don't want to move all your little pieces you just want to be able to make your cuts and turn and again we're measuring out an inch from that seam line and we're going to do this all the way around the square so there we go and this is my third one line it right up on that seam and then we're going to do one more all right there we go and lay our ruler on there we're dealing with such small pieces you really you really don't want to have to pick this up and turn it okay so now we've cut on all four sides now what we're going to do is we're just going to take these two corner pieces right here and we're going to swap them so we're going to put that one there and this one there we're going to do the same thing right here and then right here in the center we have this little tiny four patch and what we're going to do is we're just going to turn that just one turn so that it you know we have opposites checkerboarding together then we have three rows we need to sew together so we're going to sew the top row the middle row and the bottom row together and I'll do that right now okay so now now we've got these three rows sewn together and we're ready to sew our three strips together to make the block you want to make sure that your layouts right check it and double check it it's either easier than ripping and so we're going to go ahead and sew these together and I'll meet you right back here so now we got to sew the last row on and our block will be ready all right here we go now I'm going to sew a little bit and then I'm going to peek under here and make sure that my seams are nestled right together and this one too these tiny ones you want those to go right together so we just go slow over that and we're going to press it and open it up for the big reveal and we've got this cute little block just like this so we hope you enjoyed this tutorial on the disappearing floor patch from the Missouri star quilt company the
