decluttering essentially i've compiled some of my favorite videos some more recent and also some older ones to bring you this longer video and the ultimate cleaning motivation i know that with the you through the entire makeover process start to finish and showing you some organizational ideas diys to create an elevated modern feel and then the final reveal if you are working on a similar let's get started [Music] so before we start this transformation i wanted to give you guys a little before clip to show you exactly what we were working with and what the space looked like so you could really appreciate this process as you can tell the pantry has turned into a catch-all for anything and everything over the last few years there was no organization or reason why a lot of this was in here so first and foremost i had to remove all of the items from the shelves and the floors before any decluttering organizing and work that had to be done inside the pantry could happen [Music] the time of our lives [Music] [Music] now that everything is out i'm going through each item one by one purging anything that i can not only did i have to get through all of the food but there was also paint dog things tools cables so many random things we definitely had our work cut out for us i'm going to be consolidating all this into piles items that i can donate because we no longer use a keep pile and then our recycling slash garbage pile this probably is one of the biggest declutter and organizing projects i have ever worked on at once so i kind of just started in the area that was closest to me no rhyme or reason sometimes it's just overwhelming you don't even know where to start so that's why i just jumped in [Music] the time of our lives [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] uh [Music] the time of our lives [Music] if you're like me and have more pillows than you will ever need let me know how you store them down below in the comments they are one of the most challenging things to store because of their size so it was time that i donated and let go of a few the rest of them i just moved to a bin that i can keep in the attic because there was no reason for them to be in the pantry they were just taking up space but we're going to get through this stack before the next step [Music] next up is all of this food that's sitting on the dining room table i'm going through the canned goods pastas things like that making sure nothing expired then i will separate them into piles or sections so i know the quantities i have i can map out how much space i need and what type of containers we are definitely making progress but have a long ways to go throughout the rest of the video i will also be sharing realistic and sustainable organization tips that have helped me along the way that i hope can help you too [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] since i wanted to get the most done that i could this one day before continuing i spackled whatever holes were around so that could set up and dry while we worked on taking the shelves out and ripping up the carpet which needed to be replaced so so bad i think it was original to the house so yeah the floors were definitely something i was excited for the moment [Music] [Music] we will still be high when the lights out [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] after considering a few options i thought it was best and the most cost effective to keep the shelves that were originally in the pantry but replace and add a few to make them more functional while keeping us on budget the shelves are from the container stores so they are really really nice quality for wire shelving even though they aren't my favorite but there was nothing wrong with them so i wiped them down to get them as good as new and now that the walls are prepped and ready to go i'm going to add a fresh coat of paint the color i chose is pure white from sherwin-williams i wanted this space to be light and airy and the paint alone made such a difference [Music] [Music] why don't we go back to your bedroom [Music] [Music] the flooring that we're using is from lowe's the brand is shaw i believe and this is a vinyl plank flooring in the shade sea salt hickory we ended up choosing this color because it matches all the bathrooms closets and laundry room floors throughout the house but they have several different shades to choose from i really wanted something that was inexpensive but also durable and this was totally it i luckily had joe here to help me do the floors and i also wanted to mention there is a latch type door that leads to our crawl space you may have noticed we are leaving that as is but once the rest of the floors were finished we added some cord around to hide any gaps and then the baseboards were ready to be painted [Music] you'll see the biggest change storage wise in the next few clips i replaced the white shelf with a wood shelf just for aesthetics i have a similar shelf in the laundry room and i wanted to keep it somewhat consistent and i loved the contrast with the white i also chose to keep the wood as is not adding any stain to preserve the natural color and then underneath the shelves if you remember i had like a random unit that was just sitting on the floor not meant for in here so to utilize the space properly we bought three additional pieces from the same line at the container store they happen to be 30 off and probably one of the best additions we made i can sit beside you while you're going on about your simple life nothing left you thinking that maybe you're not different ego [Music] i guess it never [Music] inside all that greatness and all of your adventures you're all alone [Music] hold up hold up baby i can't sit beside you while you're going on about your i tried to plan out where exactly i wanted the bins and baskets before starting to organize i took a picture on my phone so i could refer back to it and i highly recommend doing it this way so you hopefully won't have to move things around too much and you kind of know what fits where from the beginning overall i wanted certain things to be accessible and having a plan going into any type of organizing makes the process so much smoother depending on the space that you have floor baskets or oversized baskets are always a great option for bulkier items in my case i'll be filling these with some paper towels and also all the dogs food and dishes i found these at homegoods and they are a decent size i love the detail of the black tassel on them to bring more of that color into this space too ago [Music] oh [Music] moving on to a few dinner items i really like these organizers because they are tall and narrow so these are great for pasta rice mac and cheese the cornbread mix that i'm adding a little bit of everything i'm storing some chicken stock in another one so these are definitely one of my favorites they're a great staple shape to have [Music] [Music] i opted out of airtight containers for me they're just not practical the chances that i will come home from the grocery store and empty chips and snacks into them is pretty slim i'm also not consistent with what i buy so to wash them each time seems like a lot of work that's why we chose these pull out mesh drawers do what makes your life easier i can't stress that enough i can now keep those snack items in here they're somewhat hidden but very very practical [Music] [Music] didn't know it'd be so hard to figure out who you really are yeah i guess our dreams are safe there's no passion to look on my toes [Music] tried [Music] sure [Music] know [Music] the lazy susans are for sure a top organizer for me they are so versatile you can see everything that's in them when spinning it around there are compartments so it makes it really easy to store and divide little food items like fruit snacks or bars we have a lot of protein bars and i always make sure the label is facing outwards that way when i'm spinning it i know what's inside i went back and forth with this lazy susan i don't even know how many times but until i found a solution that worked it's all trial and error with the organizers and there is no right or wrong so right after i finally get it to the way i want it i'm going to work on the canned goods this new shelf is designed for cans so i'm organizing those in a rainbowish order and then i'll move on to an overflow lazy susan which has a little bit of everything on there mustard ketchup hot sauce the essentials [Music] know [Music] if you want an organized space but want to keep it budget friendly and spend less time maintaining baskets are the way to go items like pasta sauce cans things that aren't necessarily aesthetically pleasing and can tend to look messy are hidden but also grouped together making it simple to find you'll see i dedicated one to all the pastas and then one for the pasta sauce [Music] [Music] okay so this may be a little extra to some of you but it's so satisfying at the same time most oils or vinegars come in different shapes and sizes and it could be hard to organize them so i found these glass bottles on amazon a ton came in the pack i want to say like 15 or 20 so i could definitely add more as needed and then the labels are from etsy i'm adding them to the front of the bottle this is one of those things that takes no time at all but makes the biggest difference [Music] [Music] like [Music] um [Music] like that [Music] uh [Music] next i'm going to transfer over any powders the glass jar that you see me filling now is from ikea they are narrow and tall but hold a lot and i'm going to be filling these with flour and powdered sugar and then from here i'm packing these smaller canisters that have a wood top with protein powder and other things we reach for every day [Music] i want you more than my name i wanna float on downstream go and find my wild dreams [Music] ups and downs no in [Music] [Music] you know [Music] [Music] function was a super important factor to me which is why anything front and center as soon as you walk in are the things we reach for the most or daily and then overflow or items i need every once in a while are higher up to the left-hand side out of the way i love seeing the process of everything coming together so i'm almost finished putting all of the bins and canisters where they belong i even added a hook for a mask which is such a 20 21 thing and then i will finally vacuum the floors [Music] we're about to finish with the floors and then i will quickly show you the before clip just to remind you of what the space looked like prior to the final reveal i cannot believe what a transformation is i hope that you guys being that we're in a new year i've tried to make it a priority to get my house organized and just more functional so that's what we're doing today if you enjoy this video please give it a thumbs up i so appreciate it subscribe if you're new and let's get started [Music] [Music] my intention with this video is to declutter and organize with what i already have i didn't buy any new organizers for it sometimes with organizing i know i can get caught up in buying bins and putting off projects until i have every bin i think i need and it's totally not necessary you do not have to spend a lot of money or any money at all to get an organized space i will probably end up buying a few things here and there in the future especially now that i know what each space needs but for now i'm using what i have and making things work that way go ahead and get started with whatever you have with or without a budget for organizers i know it'll make you feel so much better too those projects will be coming up in just a few minutes [Music] the counters are cleared off i'm going to go ahead and unload the dishwasher so i can get it filled right back up with the dishes in the sink my goal is always to run it at night after we eat dinner and unload it first thing in the morning before work but for some reason just with the two of us i feel like the dishwasher is always so full there's always extra dishes that pile over we do cook a lot of meals at home but even so once a day sometimes isn't enough so i can't imagine if you have children or larger families how much you're loading and unloading it let me know how many times a day you run yours to try to keep up and when like what time of day do you run the cycle [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's crazy [Music] and i can't believe [Music] i don't wanna feel so lonely tonight every time we spend time i wanna do this [Music] now i'm going to tackle this nasty stove so i honestly put off cleaning this thing all the time because i don't enjoy it at all but it was due for a serious cleaning i'm going to be using this easy off spray this was my first time using it on the glass stove top i use it all the time inside the oven but never on the stove and you guys this worked incredible i was shocked around the rings of the burner there were these stubborn marks that just would not come off no matter what i did or tried and this took them right off i sprayed the product on and let it sit for three to five minutes or so i think if you have really bad staining you can leave it for even longer like a few hours and then i scrubbed it with a damp sponge and every single mark aside from a few scratches on there came right up and not only that but it left it streak free so i would highly highly recommend this method if you have a glass stove top too [Music] [Music] it's funny [Music] [Music] our pantry was in need of a serious refresh over time these areas have become a little disorganized food items are out of place or things that shouldn't be in here are in here from everyday life the floors were covered in excess drinks boxes so first i'll clear that out so i can walk in here at least and then work on the rest [Music] [Applause] [Music] me [Music] this lazy susan is one of my favorite organizers we like to keep all of our bars protein bars or little snacks in here i'm going to go through it quickly and sort things by category just straightening up and then move to the one on the left and do the same this one has jello peanut butter um extra olive oil so basically an excess bin and then after that i'll finally start clearing out some of the random food and boxes that are thrown on the shelves [Music] me [Music] continuing on i like to maintain this can organizer by matching like items up and also storing them in a rainbow order it's a little bit extra but it makes it aesthetically pleasing when you open up the door since you do see this right away after i get through these we'll restock some drinks that i had and also refill a canister with some cereal we're huge cereal people i try not to buy it for that reason because i know it's not the healthiest but we did see this wendy's frosty cereal the other day while we were food shopping and i had to try it if you do like chocolate it's a good one to pick up [Music] [Music] it's always the same story with you but i just cannot refuse you i'm sad after [Music] [Music] if you did watch my pantry makeover video i think that was almost a year ago now you probably remember me saying that i don't really organize snacks or chips in containers that still holds true today just because we do go through them so quickly sometimes i buy the same things over and over again but not always and it can be a lot to keep up with washing them each time too so i love these drawers for that reason this way they hide the packaging but also keep all the snacks in one spot i had two little jars left over that i filled with goldfish and one with these spicy veggie fries just to use them up and get them out of the way but for everything else i'll just check expiration dates and straighten them up [Music] why am i so curious [Music] [Music] i [Music] in new york they banned plastic bags i'm not sure if that's how it is in other states but my point being is that you have to bring your own to the stores and we honestly always forget even though we have this massive pile sitting in this basket which was originally intended to be a cleaning basket so i'm going to work my way through what's in here sort what i can take out put these bags somewhere else so we don't forget them and then put it all back in a neater way [Music] baby listen carefully cause i got something listen carefully [Music] this is mason's basket right here with his food but as you can see random stuff has been thrown in here as well so i'll take everything out just like i did before refill his dog food and then it will be finished with the pantry and can move on to the next task i know a lot of you watch yellowstone too so let me know what you thought of the finale a few weeks ago and what you're watching now because we do need a new show my sweatshirt is from etsy i'm obsessed it took a few weeks to ship out but i will link it below because i know some of you will have questions [Music] stop this [Music] we've made our way upstairs to flip over some laundry that was waiting to go into the dryer i had that running while i was organizing downstairs i'm also going to get the sheets off the bed we're still sick over here i know my voice is not the most pleasant to listen to so again i'm sorry about that i'm just trying my best but i've been washing these sheets more frequently just to stay on top of the germs [Music] i'm clearing off the top of my dresser to make room for the next project i keep all of my pajamas and like bigger t-shirts in these top right drawers ninety percent of the time i'm in baggy t-shirts and sweatpants stealing joe's clothes not cute pajamas but now i'm going to open them up to show you all what a mess it is i just have everything shoved in here i could barely open the top drawer let alone find what i needed and it was just not working anymore so what i'm going to do is completely empty them out go through each item one by one get rid of older things i don't wear anymore refold things that need it and get the straw functioning and straighten back up [Music] [Music] until we get lost far [Music] isn't always the best sometimes your turns makes me dizzy but with you i don't need [Music] [Music] until we get lost foreign [Music] until we give us [Music] i'm definitely someone who enjoys a realistic organizational idea so i hope you guys are enjoying this video we still [Music] so now we're going to tackle these smaller draws in my nightstand the top one is for all my bathing suits and the bottom was cover-ups and things i wear to the pool or beach we go on vacation quite a bit so i do have a lot in here but my goal is not to make this look perfect i find it really hard or challenging to fold bathing suits because of the strings and the little pieces to them and it never looks that organized to me if you do have tips let me know down below instead of focusing on that i really wanted to donate what i was no longer wearing and reaching for and then put all of this back in a way that i was at least able to see what i had [Music] [Music] i know projects like this can seem so overwhelming and that's part of the reason i've put it off for so long but doing this a few times a year or even two times a year while it does take time the after is always worth it having everything neat and organized and only having what you need and wear in the drawers is just the best feeling [Music] me me [Music] say you love me say you don't [Music] just give me something so i can move on pull me closer or push me away [Music] let me know if we'll be okay cause i can't stand another moment of you playing with my mind i'm so tired [Music] again these are not in any way shape or form perfect but i can see what's in them now and that's all that mattered to me this pile right here is all of the clothes i was able to donate from those two drawers alone so i was happy about that now we're in the living room picking up putting away the blankets fluffing the pillows things like that we still have one more area to organize down here so that'll be coming up in a few minutes and also the recipe at the end so make sure you stick around for that if you are looking for surfaces wiped down the house is in good shape the boxes in the dining room are deliveries for joe and his job so i'm leaving those since they are heavy and full of stuff that he has to organize himself but other than that the main level was pretty clean we'll move on to the bathroom soon but for now i'm going to take care of the floors down [Music] i can't wait here you forever [Music] put your body on the kitchen table and move the dishes looking at me with those eyes [Music] this is our cabinet downstairs in a guest bathroom and as you can see it desperately needed to be cleaned out it was such a mess actually embarrassing at this point so i'll remove all the items in here wipe it down with an anti-bacterial wipe and then get to sorting all of this [Music] cause it reminds me of the times [Music] [Music] [Music] i've had this acrylic nail polish organizer for years now and love it it's from amazon the only problem is i rarely do my nails so a lot of this nail polish is super old by now and it needed to be tossed once i've gotten through these bottles i'll work on everything else that was in there most of these things i use every now and again so i'll separate things into bins and when putting them back into the cabinet whatever i reach for more will go in the front so it's more accessible [Music] [Music] i'm sure someone's wondering what that little toothbrush is for in this bathroom i use it to clean my ring my wedding ring so i like it in the front because i use that about once a week but now that everything is organized it's time to clean i'm using anti-bacterial wipes on the counters and sink and then those combined with the clorox wand for the toilet [Music] since i woke up i can finally see [Music] the very last thing i'm doing for today are the upstairs floors just a few seconds left and the house will be fresh and ready to go for the week [Music] [Music] oh so quiet today i'm sharing this yummy cajun pepper chicken recipe and it's so easy you're going to start off by cutting these mini bell peppers or you can use regular size either way you're going to layer that at the bottom and then add some chicken on top and completely coat the chicken in some cajun seasoning we love the tony's brand but use whatever you can find [Music] i added some minced garlic to each piece of chicken and next i'll top that with a thin slice of cream cheese the last step before baking is to sprinkle cheddar cheese over the cream cheese i cooked this chicken on 375 and once it was done cooking i turned the broiler on for a few minutes to brown the out in the master bedroom making our bed and then i'm gonna move on to quickly pick up the rest of the [Music] i can be there room you there for you the night is young won't you sing for me won't you won't you sing for me [Music] i could stay awake till [Music] we're going to get to this pile of laundry later on in the video but for now we're moving into the bathroom for the fun part or as fun as cleaning gets at least i bought a new product to test out in here but before we give that a try i'm picking up what was out on the counters and also getting things cleaned i wanted to go ahead and give the outside of the blow dryer a really good clean there was this brown like nasty dirt on the handle probably between oils and makeup on my fingers it's been there for a while and i've yet to make time to clean it off and it's been driving me crazy so we're going to take care of that now i spray the handle down with the clorox sentiva solution in the tahitian grapefruit scent that's a mouthful which is my all-time favorite and got to scrubbing [Music] we do it on repeat [Music] do we don't repeat [Music] i don't know where you came from i don't know what you did to my heart you touched my soul like a fandom and you did it right from the start like [Music] i always have the hardest time keeping the grout in the bathrooms clean you can see some spots in the before shot of what the grout is supposed to look like it's a very very light gray almost white and over time it's turned quite a bit to a brown color between makeup dust dirt all that but i bought this zep grout cleaner and brightener from home depot i poured it over the grout and left it for three minutes as instructed at first i was hesitant when seeing the results i visibly saw the dirt coming up when i wiped it away but the color didn't change much so i stepped away from the bathroom forgetting that the grout had to actually dry and when i came back the entire floor looked brand new although this product is really powerful it works this stuff honestly should be a staple in every house if you do have tile i figured i would like it based on the reviews but it did such a good job you guys i was so impressed i've tried a ton of cleaners before and nothing has worked like this one didn't [Music] is [Music] [Music] through [Music] is [Music] [Music] thing i oh to do [Music] now that the grout is clean we've moved downstairs and i'm going to tackle our kitchen which was very neglected as you can see i'm going to start by clearing off the counters and putting everything back where it goes [Music] i got some dollars in my pocket and i really wanna spend it on you nothing wealthiest [Music] and do this [Music] [Music] [Applause] right here i'm showing you these mini banana yogurts from trader joe's i love these as a snack so i want to share them i think they are intended for kids but it's the perfect amount in my opinion they also come in a pack with strawberry but if you like banana these taste really really good highly recommend picking them up if you have a store near you but yeah we've moved on to the dishwasher also i realized last week a lot of you guys don't have a dishwasher and some of you don't even like using one so let me know in the comments below if you like using a dishwasher over hand washing if you have that option i am a total dishwasher girl i avoid hand washing at all costs aside from the crock pot but i'm curious as to what you all prefer and if you are hand washing a hundred percent of the time just have to let you know you are the real mvp [Music] [Music] i'm moving the dishes over from the sink to the dishwasher most of them need a quick rinse nothing more and then we'll work on the crock pot and getting that scrubbed out [Music] me [Music] i can't believe that you came into my life you made me feel again now it's my turn you [Music] the bottom of the sink was absolutely disgusting after i got the dishes loaded and this crock pot rinsed out so i'm using a little bit of baking soda mixed with dawn and a sponge and i'm going to get this cleaned up [Music] for me [Music] i know it's hard for you to give it a try but you are not alone i'm here with you i think you owe it to this beautiful night to lose all your control let me show you a place [Music] as soon as i'm done with this i'll begin taking some stuff off the counters to work on our next project i feel like i always start cleaning in either the kitchen or living room or two most used rooms when i'm doing a bigger cleaning day but starting in the bathroom today really got me motivated to keep going probably because it's something i typically don't like doing so it felt good to get it out of the way but when you are cleaning all day what room do you usually start in let me know down below [Music] i picked up a new scrub daddy sponge to really give these counters a deep clean i don't do this that often on the regular i spray them with either a multi-surface cleaner or like a granite cleaner but they were to the point of needing more so what i do is spray them down with dawn this is gentle enough on the stone but also breaks up the grease and dirt and i'll work my way around the entire kitchen scrubbing the soap in with my sponge it's so satisfying to me to use this sponge paired with soap it just gets all sudsy and i love it once i feel like i've gone over every area i'll use a wet cloth and wipe off the soap that way sometimes i do follow up with a granite spray this day i didn't but you want to make sure you get up all the soap either way [Music] um [Music] [Music] [Music] is [Music] i'm gonna be free be free [Music] whenever i take the time to do this i make sure to go over the edge as well this spot is often missed when i'm wiping them down daily but your counters will feel incredibly clean and spotless after doing this you'll see in a few minutes what a difference it made the counters look like a mirror it's crazy so shiny and brand new [Music] [Music] you show me [Music] our glass stove top gets dirty so easy this was just from a week of cooking and i do wipe it down with a multi-surface cleaner in between but usually save the deeper cleaning until i have time if you watched last week's video you know i tried this easy off spray for the first time on here and loved it i'm using it again today it works so well to get up all that stuck on stuff that usually requires a ton of scrubbing while the product was sitting for the three minutes i went ahead and disinfected the sink and also put some of the decor and appliances back on the counter [Music] myself [Music] myself [Music] [Music] as you can see here that did an amazing job at cleaning the stovetop but to make it look even better i'm going over the glass with a multi-surface spray this will take away any of that leftover residue and while i had it out i went over the top part where the knobs are and also the [Music] microwave now but i hope you slow it down [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] now that the kitchen is finally clean we're moving on to the dining room and living room there was a lot to straighten up in here too i'm going to start by picking up some boxes and cleaning rags that were out and then i'm going to put the coats away so we can move on to the couch area just [Music] [Music] you didn't even see me feeling every day [Music] today [Music] is [Music] [Music] just [Applause] [Music] me [Music] [Music] when vacuuming the floors today i wanted to get completely underneath the dining room table it's been a while brand bona at home goods or tj maxx i think it was home goods and it's the cedarwood scent i thought this smelled incredible it was not overpowering sort of subtle which i liked and reminded me almost of like a men's cologne or some of you may know the candle from bath and body works called flannel it was similar to that personally i love that type of scent so if you do too definitely check this back upstairs where we left off i have this pile of laundry to get through and also the bathroom i wanted to clean the toilet in there [Music] hello [Music] [Music] me [Music] [Music] like a thousand times [Music] it true [Music] [Music] i'm spraying the toilet with the same cleaner i used in the beginning of this video the sentiva tahitian grapefruit and now i'm going to use a clorox toilet wand for the inside i love the fact that you can dispose of the pod or the brush part whenever you're finished that way you don't have to leave a dirty brush sitting in your bathroom i have seen some
