[Music] but the forest greeted them with a dark cold silence the bushes empty this opening animation is so freaking pretty and just some quick housekeeping i've never played a resident evil game before so i had no idea what to expect going into this so most of my opinions will be from an unfiltered set of eyes so i will definitely miss things feel free to add your own wins in down below also this opening animation reminds me of coraline so much he greeted her warmly and bit his own wing each of our four lords are obvious representations of the four lords bat lady demotress fish moreau the weaver beneviento the horse carl and finally the witch at the end is miranda and of course the little girls rose i like to see her being trapped in the mirror as some sort of representation that rose and miranda are kind of one of the same in the sense that i think rose might try and bring back ethan in some capacity the same way miranda wanted to bring back avath but the easier answer is that being in the mirror is just in reference to her being pieced up into the flasks what is with the creepy story she's only six months old stories like this is how childhood trauma starts moran mia we moved here so that she wouldn't have to deal with any of that remember there's nothing wrong with my memory okay that was scary and really well acted by katie o'hagan for those who didn't play biohazard like me this opening in the house quickly and effectively establishes their relationship and where they both are at mentally they did this so well for me at least when mia got shot my jaw was on the floor i can only imagine what it was like for those who went through everything with these two and seven the rendering of this house has got to be one of the best creations of a real home nothing really feels out of place or manufactured especially the endless amount of wine like there's a lot of wine there i mean i probably turn to the bottle too after what traumatic events they've gone through did they name their kid rose because it's obviously their favorite one not probably not funny thought though more likely it's that rosemary was named that by the devs because often rosemary is used to mourn the death of somebody the actual plant not pieces of rose and with ethan technically being dead this whole time it's fitting to keep on this name a rose is beautiful but has nice little pointy thorns to protect itself a little nod to her power she can wield later so there's a lot of jazz in this drawer and there's a particular cd that says jazz standard theory and from what i found the jazz standard theory is short musical compositions anything can be turned into jazz and the melody can generally appeal to a mass audience i know i'm massively simplifying that but it's a perfect representation of the design philosophy with this game it's a short game staying in line with biohazard's mechanics but adding more action or jazz to the gameplay and made the game less scary and more appealing to newcomers to the horror genre it's completely intentional that capcom gave us so much to explore around the house we get some respite from the awful events of seven we get to be happy for these two just for a second which is all just primer to make it hurt all the more when chris murders mia it's a local recipe wow you've gone full native haven't you a little tongue-in-cheek line since this is actually miranda cooking i just i don't understand why you are so i did not see this bullet coming at all and i don't watch promotional or marketing material for content till after i consume it so these next few minutes have me shook and the scene just doesn't hold back watching mia a wife and mother get shredded with bullets like this just hearts to watch i just i don't understand why you are so most of us probably missed it our first go-around but if you look mia's first reaction to the bullet is that of anger she's not wincing or in pain of course at finally say it this game is drop dead gorgeous and not only that it's optimized super well with tons of polish developers need to take notes because this is how a game should play on release i only experienced one bug and it was like a floating axe or something it was just a perfect experience with all the ravens it feels like miranda's watching over ethan odin style maybe maybe they're out maybe they're out god ethic could be so dense and innocent sometimes so much so that i literally laughed out loud when he asked himself this but hey can't knock the man for being hopeful he's a civilian to a degree but is smart enough to check the mag and chamber around well that's one way to get to the attic [Music] and not to be outdone the other lichen shows a great way to get to the basement dead buddy with everything ethan's been through i thought he'd be a little more hardened but it's nice that he always airs in the normal guy and crazy universe side of things [ __ ] what the [ __ ] was that with this being my first resident evil game i was so confused as to why he was so calm about his hand after research this is just another tuesday for him so some nice character continuity i guess son of a [ __ ] do you see how fast i swung this game can really get your blood pumping this isn't creepy or ominous at all i love how big house just kind of starts strolling through to make matters worse doesn't get some grand intro i mean he does because superhero some have speculated that the old hags miranda in disguise and i don't think so i like the idea of this just being a crazy lady who worships miranda sure miranda turns into the hag in front of us at the end but she does the same with mia so how are we to know for sure i like that you can't just run on these guys in the wheat field and find them right away they'll rustle around a bit just to add some tension louisa open up it's me elena sometimes fun framing can be done using the perspective of the pcs such as with seeing the gun poke out before anything else ethan sitting here makes me think of his time sitting at the table at the baker house for those that played seven i'm sure this incurred an squares being lady d and her daughters the horseshoe obviously being carl and the string of beads for moreau and the two schools being veneviento as losing her two parents was her big thing well well i didn't think anyone was left it's our boy nicholas i mean heisenberg my favorite of the lords i know a treasonous statement i think carl learned a thing or two from ebony ma i want to see [Music] this doll is so [ __ ] creepy but there's something about her that's a little adorable you mean you'll screw around with them in private words of fun in that oh i think i can hear all the fun in that jesus christ [Music] [Applause] nothing like fresh american ground beef carr's little runaway is more of a test to see if ethan's got what it takes to help him take down miranda i bring you fresh prey you are so kind to me daughters and me starting to go a little steady then let's devour his man flesh quickly mother i am the one who captured him now now daughters first i must inform mother miranda we haven't had nothing but maggoty bread for three stinking days every injury had me dying because still to this point i didn't understand how his healing worked but still that's some raw ass [ __ ] pulling your hands through the hooks like that ethan would excel at sawtraps little small hint to the daughter's weakness it's a simple riddle but it got my caveman brain thinking love how much lady demotresque's castle has all these little riddles and logic puzzles mother miranda i regret to inform you that ethan winters has escaped that fool heisenberg never too quick to blame carl are you demotress sticking to hating your arch nemesis slash brother oh [ __ ] how the hell is he saying so damn calm oh what the [ __ ] is literally what i said when this happened not knowing this isn't his first star wars rodeo it wasn't till now that i realized how magic this it is yes i know it's the mold that's making him so resilient too but still dimitriz has got an extra large bathtub that's all i would put a win in for every single foreshadowing we know we get in this game but that would be like every note so i'll just stick to a few dagger shadowing [Applause] i think i'm more turned on now funny how much of this game is logic puzzles and thinking how to use your items to progress and about every boss fighters shoot at with guns even if i'm disappointed with this it's still really cool taking all these giant creatures not as much as i'd like how can a man be almost dead they told us way early that ethan was dead life for life what kind of sick medieval [ __ ] is this something about that delivery gets me handles give me ptsd in this game now why you have your daughter right in your own hands well i guess she takes after daddy that flask seems to contain her head you can't just say that so casually duke oh lady dimitrisk beautiful even in death that waistline yes the devs knew exactly what they were doing when they created lady d oh [ __ ] that [ __ ] how nice of the lycans to wait to come at you in a horde for the first time right after a nice pistol upgrade settle down first you must use that key and collect all of your little roses flasks where are the rest of them there are four in total you have the one and the other lords have the rest i'm getting fatty dark souls 1 vibes from the way the duke is talking about each lord's location having to take each one by one before facing gwent i mean miranda right as you grab rose here the scariest part of the game commences this house is just a big family mind [ __ ] for ethan having to take apart his late fake wife and come face to face with beta rose taking apart her body getting a puzzle piece and finding out what to do with it was really fun even more because it's all tied to this small designed area versus all of castle demotress this reel is giving me some real sinister vibes it's not even funny or a pun i'm just stupid because i used a homophone anyway i was ready to see some duct tape [ __ ] at the bottom of this well and have it be filling up or something [ __ ] i saw it coming but had no clue it'd be that [ __ ] thing that's what i almost ended up looking like fellows thanks mom you're the real one [Music] the juxtaposition of this terrifying creature making normal baby noises makes it all the scarier and we can't fight back which hypes up the horror and anxiety of the situation even more [Music] oh poor girls losing in hide and seek i'm sorry girlie i never wanted to hurt you and because capcom is so nice they let us be the seeker real quick i thought my game is bugging out for a second but since the game has been so polished up to this point i'm pretty sure it's intentional and creepy as [ __ ] and if it is a bug who cares because i didn't realize it because everything else was so polished see what can happen laser disc activity blue when a game is taking its time on [ __ ] monster i feel like on the surface that's just a quick dig to hurt ethan but these lords are actually upset about rose's existence as she is actively ruining the family they had i mean it was on the way out anyway but she's not helping the entire house was hands down the best level of the game strictly because of the segments downstairs and with how much i enjoyed it i've really got to play resident evil 7. does this look familiar to you one [ __ ] you duke we just got attacked by an overexcited fetus in a dollhouse and two yes it looks like evelyn it's already been shown that the duke is some omnipresent type so maybe he knows about the events of the baker house and is just looking to have some personal entertainment with taunting ethan ah miss angie just adorable porcelain dolls are very popular you know to everyone's detriment well we found louise's husband at least we don't gotta explain to either what happened to the other louisa should have went with him because you can't do get help without a partner i do anything hey buddy why are you looking at us like that [Music] [ __ ] stay back i really just want to take a needle and pop each one of those not a huge fan of this little run across the water bits but at least the levels are staying varied ah they turned it sideways to mess with pea-sized brain individuals like myself what are you trying to get at i could lend you a hand we love a villain's good guy team up so sweet of carl to ask for our help and cheer us on this is a really fun gauntlet to really flex our power as ethan from barely being able to take on two of these creatures to now waves i want to know where leon's at i think i can give him a run for his money and to cap off our power flex we get revenge on the big house is seath in here some quick clarity on who attacked a fan welcome so generous shut your [ __ ] hole i'm sorry about that thanks lady super-sized [ __ ] ugly a psycho doll an amoronic freak his nicknames for the lords are gold you know i gotta win the sauce wind turbine subversion i don't exactly understand the effective use of this experiment maybe a siege monster but whatever its use case it's cool this place is messed up this is for anyone who forgot the re engine is in the top three for fidelity and engines you guys remember medal of honor frontline on the ps2 that the sneaky submarine base mission why is my brain immediately brought back to the underground portion whenever i'm seeing this windmill man might be the best boss fight in the game as it's more than just shoot and not die you gotta dodge around him and attack him from the rear man manipulating metal is just a cool ability stairs wherever i go yes please and yes stairs is what makes me most excited about this power did this boy talk to michael bay before creating this final form homeboy for sure looking like devastator from transformers too you killed my wife you son of a [ __ ] you think i killed mia that wasn't her it was miranda what it was miranda what she's a bioweapon of course she is seems she also survived being shot so now i'm here to finish the job glad to know for sure that chris is still one of the good guys at least this shoot tiller dead boss raises the stakes even if artificially by giving us chrissy's cool tank remember evelyn and her power over them all rose is her successor i guess it only makes sense since both mia and ethan were infected with the mold and naturally made a child a moldy child so stupid come on and face me well you did ask ethan the temple of doom would like to have a word with you miss god damn it when does it end when people stop buying resident evil games terminate miranda and rescue rose love that chris is the best uncle and still on the mission to save rose oh buddy we playing as the boulder punching boy himself i know i talked about ethan's power flex but this is a power trip just mow me through the liking like they are nothing really makes you feel the exaggerated swagger of an american soldier i've had enough baby imagery for one game miranda to act so soon even so you should have told him chrissy's crew isn't afraid to stand up and correct him when he's wrong so love having a good leader we finally get some real documented answers on how and what the four lords are when it comes to their powers [Music] mia's alive i was caught in houston experiments so since she just got experimented on wouldn't she have powers as well but later it's assumed that she's dead i've got questions so i guess making me look forward to another game ethans alive what i guess evelyn just posts up to taunt ethan really ties in the events from the first game which has felt decently separate when it comes to narrative consequences don't misunderstand me as i get there isn't any moldy ethan without the first so here we are anyway you were always dead so that's what the old hag meant when she said how can a man be almost dead you mean you didn't think it was weird no matter how much you got hurt i thought it was [ __ ] weird yeah take me to miranda i assumed as much and am already on the way everyone needs a friend like the duke my power is leaving me rose jack you will see once i kill you properly get her now chris shoots miranda again in front of ethan two better results this time miranda has a pretty lame moldy form i'm not counting ben avientos i guess we all love humble leaders my daughter [Music] at least she was committing evil for a sympathetic cause right come on it's not that much further watch over so they never show us ethan's face even though he does have a model created for him that's gotta mean they're bringing him back into some capacity because i feel like if he were gonna show his face it should be right here to really highlight his sacrifice [Music] speaking of self-sacrifice oh that cut was satisfying you like to be the main character [Music] i like to think that rose is singing this song which is just a musical rendition of the village of shadow's storybook which is just her story rose is wearing mia's wedding bands so that either means homegirl moved on or died either way it's sweet that rose is wearing a token from both her parents ethan's jacket's on her you're needed evelyn rose evelyn ava they are all basically the same now right because miranda pulled a baby out of the mold so it's likely just pick whatever you want or to be at that point so her name's really just to choose your own adventure book now well the model used down there is ethan but there is no knowing who the hell this really is teasers for the next game this was my first ever resident evil game i don't know why but i've never played one in all my time of gaming probably mostly due to the fact that i've never been huge on scary games but i saw this was coming out it looked gorgeous and i had never played a res game before so i thought no better time than now and i'm so glad i did village is a great short sweet thriller action game with obvious horror roots and elements now i haven't played resident evil 7 but i've done my fair share of research that is a horror game through and through and it's going to make me piss my pants when i play it but village opts for a different direction you already got to experience the helpless horde cramped of the baker home so no need to retread that ground so capcom decided to open up the world not to the degree of open world but linear open world within each section there is quite a bit of exploring you could do which for the most part is really enjoyable and often gives some little lore tidbits or just some nice loot this also allows us to take our time and not rush through the beauty they have crafted for us to enjoy if something catches our eye we can stop for a second and appreciate it instead of being thrusted forward by narrative or contrivance now i said this game feels more like an action thriller than a horror game i mean that for the most part there are the obvious horror sections and themes but after you get the shotgun you kind of become a badass tearing through the lykan and these giant moldy bosses once i had a ready supply of ammo and weapons nothing really frightened me and capcom knew this think of the lycan stronghold leveling nothing was really scary about that it's just straight-up fun feeling like doom guy tearing through their fortress and then squaring off with big boy at the end ethan even gets a little one-liner and tells him to eat [ __ ] more often than not you're fighting and or puzzling your way around an area than having the [ __ ] scared out of you and i personally really enjoyed this as i'm a pisces and a little [ __ ] so everything scares me i'm jumpy and generally don't mess around and get very defensive when i'm scared so i was pleasantly surprised with the moment-to-moment gameplay of this game not being so horrifying now before the 10 of you still watching at this point moan at me oh yeah when the game wants to be scary holy [ __ ] do they do a great job these moments of horror always come from whenever you're at the disadvantage like the opening walk into town but most pointedly the god damn house of beneviento they pulled out all the stops to make that section horrifying dolls i think i could just stop there but dolls flickering lights no way to defend yourself that goddamn fetus the level concept is similar to one earlier with lady d she's constantly following you around while you're trying to puzzle but all due to the presentation of everything i'm emotionally scarred by a baby than our sexy lady hands down the house was my favorite part of the game which is one of the theme park rides of the game that was the design philosophy here capcom wanted village to be a theme park of horror instead of just one horror experience for 10 hours we got body horror we got confused boner horror traumatizing horror mad scientist horror each section gives us a new twist on what to be afraid of along with new gameplay challenges to embark on sure most end with shoot at mole till dead but it's the journey of course that makes it all great there will be some that don't like this approach as the experience feels very segmented and choppy and that's okay if you feel that way capcom wanted to try something a little different with these first person resident evil games and i think they completely delivered on their promise if you want your horror game to be like pt in the house of beneviento you we've still got resident evil 7 better to have devs challenge themselves than just recreate the same thing over and over and over in call of duty anyway since my knowledge of the resident evil genre is limited i know there are a lot of games in the series i'm curious how ironic it is me saying that the story here is whatever to me it's there and it's a good enough reason to get ethan into action looking to save your pieced up daughter is a great motivator so whatever just really didn't give me much to bite on to or care about anyone and that's most likely a byproduct of having the four lords plus miranda all have to share the same stage i know that resident evil games aren't always 100 the best stories ever and always begin and end the same with new buy weapon take it out we won [ __ ] there's more bio somewhere and village is no exception to that fact so i'll say that they were more worried about making fun moment-to-moment gameplay than giving me a story i could really sink my teeth into and i'm okay with that the last few videos have been story dense and it's been fun to take on something more gameplay-oriented i'd say even if you don't like horror or resident evil games give this one a try even if you just watched this point there's enough here worthy of exploring and experiencing yourself plus it's only like eight hours long so just make a day of it i'm really interested in exploring more games of this series and the channel and maybe someday soon i'll cover resident evil 7. after it's sequel like i have a habit of doing
