springtime at dollar tree means solar lights and lots of them these have been a dollar tree staple for years and in this video i'll show you several ways you can use them to bring some brightness to your outdoor space and for the first hack you'll need a little mirror dollar tree sells them in different shapes and sizes and all you want to do is take the top portion of your solar light and glue it to the center of the mirror like this i decided to make a couple of these i'll call them mini solar lights and what i love about this idea is that you can put these just about anywhere you don't need to stick them in the ground and they'll actually appear brighter thanks to the light reflecting off of the mirror at night now you can place one of these on a patio table or make several to line your outdoor stairs so you never miss or trip on a dark step or my favorite is to place one of these inside an outdoor lantern to make it a solar lantern that lights up every night [Music] okay so this next idea is for anyone who has ever been in need of an outdoor hook that lights up i just grabbed this wall hook from dollar tree and took the wood frame off of the front using a flathead screwdriver it takes a little effort but eventually i was able to get the frame off and once that was done i took another dollar tree mirror and glued it to the front then i grabbed another solar light but this time just the very top of it and glued it to the top of the mirror like this and here's how it looks outside you can use this to hang keys to an outdoor shed or for easy access to a dog leash if you need to walk your dog at night these are just a few ideas but you can of course use this however you would like okay so did you know that these solar stake lights once placed in the ground are about nine inches tall but you can easily make them stand four feet tall by using the dollar tree's broom mop or even rake handles yes and once you've grabbed the handle of your choice just pull up the hook or hanger part on the end it should pop right off and then place the top portion of the solar light inside i did use a little glue on these but that is optional i just wanted a stronger hold but the lights should fit into the tops of the broom or rig handles nicely and that's it in only a few seconds you've made some extra tall solar stake lights that you can place around your yard and i find these especially helpful if you have large plants or bushes around your home okay so here's another tip if your dollar tree sells these lobby dust bands you can take the hanger or hook portion off of the handle that comes with it and place the solar light inside to make a solar stick light that's a little bit shorter this one stands at about three feet tall next is a fun party idea using the dollar tree's paper lanterns these do look pretty on their own during the day but you can make them light up at night by taking the top portion of a solar light and some floral wire and make a shape like this then place your solar light inside twist the top of the wire and hook it inside the wire form of the lantern i promise this is so easy to do and here is the result a beautiful solar paper lantern next is an easy solar centerpiece for your outdoor table and first you'll need a piece of wood i grabbed this wooden dollar tree sign and spray painted it black [Music] once the paint was dry i glued some dollar tree tea light candle holders to the piece of wood trying to space them out evenly then i glued the very top portion of the solar lights to each candle holder [Music] and here's how the centerpiece turned out and how it would look during the day and here's how it would look at night now i don't have an outdoor table so i had to put mine on the ground but i think you guys can get the idea of how it would look and how it could be a pretty centerpiece to light up an outdoor table at night okay so have you guys seen these hanging lids at dollar tree i grabbed this one and the solar light fits perfectly inside so you can hang this up on its own or you can screw it onto a mason jar and hang that up or another idea that i had grab one of these hanging wire baskets and pop the hanger off of the lid it should come off really easily and this is what should be left and this fits perfectly inside the center of the basket to make the easiest solar chandelier this looks so pretty at night and cost less than four dollars to make and just one quick tip if you can't find the hanging lids at dollar tree you can always use a regular mason jar lid for this too just make sure it's a canning lid that has the little removable disk like this and the solar light should fit right inside and here's another idea turn the planter basket upside down and add the solar light with the lid to the top to create a little wire lamp or lantern you can hang this up or just as an example i put this one on the end of one of the broom handles to make a tall solar wire lantern next i want to show you how to easily make a little solar lamp and all you have to do is glue a solar light to one of the dollar tree's glass candle holders and then put some glue around the solar panel on top add a glass bowl and this one did come from dollar tree and how cute is this and of course it's even better at night and one of my favorite things to do with solar lights are to put them inside of dollar tree containers i have found that these fit into so many different faces look how pretty this one is it's new at dollar tree and i love the ombre effect and the solar lights fit into so many jars and candle holders i love the way this one looks lit up and yes even water bottles you'd be surprised at how many dollar tree water bottles the solar lights fit inside of so maybe something to keep in mind for your next camping trip or if you're in need of an emergency light and my little secret i'm just gonna tell you guys is to walk around the store with the solar light and see what it fits in because dollar tree's inventory changes all the time and you never know what fun new items the solar lights will fit into i'll tell you it's really awesome when you can find a candle holder like this that already has a hook attached so you can just glue the solar light to the top and hang it wherever you would like and one of my all-time favorite ideas is using this dollar tree glass jar the solar light fits perfectly in the top and it creates the most beautiful snowflake pattern when it lights up all right guys well those are just a few ways you can use dollar tree solar lights to brighten up your outdoor space let me know which idea was your favorite down in the comment section below and as always thank you so much for watching and until my next video i'll see you then
