[Music] cette beasts is one of the best Pokemon like games I've played the art is good the music is good and their own unique twists on the Pokémon formula bring a whole new big breath of fresh air like forget even knowing all of the moves or becoming and merging with the monsters mid battle to change your strategies and move pools and all that just look at the type chart because doing like super effective moves doesn't just deal more damage they all have different effects like air can uproot plants fire attacks melt plastic type monsters and turns them into poison type temporarily the same with ice into water just really cool stuff like that but I'm here to do what I always do when there's a great Pokémon like I explain them all both why they are named what they are and what they physically are when it's not extremely obvious this is every cassette Beast explains and we start with Spring Heel self-described as an imp with leather boots it's a little Goblin devil from Victorian England it's directly based on Spring heeled Jack a popular urban legend in England in the 18 30s a devil-like man ghost with an outfit that gave him large boots and wings it remasters into Hopkin whose name polls from the Hopsin Ville Goblin folktale Creature from the mid Us in the ' 50s but honestly it is much more clever than that because it still jumps out to scare you so it hops and what is its large leather trench coat if not skin then rip Tera will rip and tear you apart and it's based on another English horror Jack the Ripper serial killer extraordinaire but now Spring Heel could also remaster into snooping an imp who snoops and is based on arene Lupin a fictional gentleman Thief with dozens of books from the 18 and early 1900s but then it moves past regular thievery and becomes scampire a vampire who will scam you out of your wealth and blood a vampire is a good followup to a gentlemen as in classic literature they are high class and are symbolic of the rich folk draining the blood of of the working class who actually do anything it's all a scam carniv viiper is a carnivorous Viper and one attending a carnival so it has a carnival mask then considering every other beast in its line is more clearly based on a mythological folklore creature from different parts of the world it itself is probably just pulling from the suchin noo a small flat venomous snake creature from Japan it becomes masquer a masquerading rattlesnake with a big MK and it appears to be growing small wings along with head feathers making me think of ketak bottle from the Aztec and it can then remaster into three different beasts we'll start with yman go a giant winged snake with a golden mask that pulls from yman Gand the giant World snake from Norse mythology midusa is a hive mind of several snakes with a sneaky mask and dress to sneak into balls and Gallas perhaps even the higher class masquerades at Migra hence the name mixing Migra with Medusa the Gorgon woman from Greek mythology with snakes for hair and lastly Arab Boro an air type snake that forms a Wheel in the Sky very reminiscent of the oroborus symbol in Western Alchemy but then it having these Wings makes it also resemble an ofine the wheel-shaped biblically accurate Angels oh no traffic crab it's pretty cute it's a hermit crab that uses a traffic cone for a shell it remasters into Weevil light a crab turning into a weevil is weird but following the traffic angle it makes more sense a traffic light has more control over traffic than cones do I suppose and in this case it looks like the giraffe Weevil specifically with their stupidly long necks and heads traffic crab could also remaster into lobst a lobster obstacle and it's a whole bunch of traffic barriers in one the center being those big plastic barrels canned Devil is a candy devil or it's canned evil oh they told me the devil would be tempting yet bad for you like candy I love the candy repper ears and the candy corn horn man it's a shame Homestuck exists candal can become malcy Mal or malish means bad in Latin and considering its new poison type and its round flask yeah yeah it's using Alchemy to make bad poison in short Alchemy is Proto like take chemistry apply religion Alchemy it's what potion and poison makers used in the Middle Ages miasm modius is a witch demon riding a lollipop I love this name though miasma in most media is an extremely poisonous gas often with negative magical properties though in its original Greek myth it's a sort of poison Spirit which is contagious and makes people infected by it violent well the rest of the name comes from asmodus one of the demon princes of Hell which represents lust backing up a bit can devil can also remaster into ven demon or vendon a classic Gumball vending demon machine pretty straightforward it then becomes Gumball or gumbal a fancier gumball machine like those swirly light up ones but the name being Gumball with two A's is great because Baal is a demon king in many demonology grimoire ba it's a Ghost sheep it says ba instead of Boo and it's also a bans she it's bansi banshees are ghost women who would eerily scream and shriek super loudly before someone in your family died whether this scream was a warning or the cause is unknown but in their original Irish folklore they were connected to Tuli the Mounds of Earth that were raised over large grave sites which is notable because it can remaster into Zom B an undead zombie sheep goat ghost that carries its own gravestone it bleeds then capric corpse is a full skeleton still buried in its grave carrying the dirt around it along it is a Capricorn corpse and Capricorns are those half goat half fish creatures from Greek myth though keeping with the ghost theming bans sheep can also remaster into Walter a poltergeist made of wool poltergeists are just a type of ghost really typically ones that interact with objects all spookily especially at night when you're sleeping hence M which means an illusionary likeness of something a figment of the imagination an illusion or apparation so a ghost siren Sirens are creatures from Greek myth which can be either mermaid likee or birdlike in this case it's the latter they sing songs to hypnotize and lure men close so they can eat them serenade here just sings serenades because it likes them and it's got a sort of bat-shaped body likely because bats use sound to travel and have speaker looking ears so here it's speaker looking Wings it's comes decibel decibels are how you measure how loud something is and a bell is a beautiful girl or woman me thinks debel is supposed to be another Greek creature a harpy half bird half woman creatures who similarly sing and are depicted with their legs in a similar fashion now even though dandelion is like ooh yeah it's a dandelion lion how original they still did go one step further and made it a foo lion often referred to as foo dogs they're the Chinese Guardian statues that stand on both sides of doors or Gates and yeah it's just that mixed with a dandelion flower at least when it becomes Blossom a it's cooler a different stage of dandelion Blossom sure but it's also a long Chinese dragon now which often have MS and M similar to lions macabra always has a skull it's perched on they just carry them around how maab which means disturbing and horrifying due to an involvement with or depiction of death and injury and in this case it's mixed with a chupacabra from Central and South American folklore a blood sucking fanged crypted with various depictions then folk Lord puts the skull on its head it's the Lord of folktales now after all it says its arms and upper body are so dense with muscle that it cannot support itself on its legs for very long it's got big hands with those big gloves with which to leave big hand prints in the ground yeah it's like reverse Bigfoot it's big hands and arguably Bigfoot is the most well-known crypted the Lord of folklore but Moth Man is my favorite favorite and that's what we get with the Domino line it's a dominant moth because it's a superhero self-described as Defenders of peace they spend their days patrolling the Skies of Woodland areas it becomes Wing Gloom a large gloomy moth with light bulbs on its head that channel its electric powers its whole body is just kind of shaped like a light bulb too because moths are so drawn to them but then it's back to superhero business as moth manic it's Moth Man and it's the classic superhero naming scheme of what they are followed by man but it's also manic which means high energy frantic excited because it's full of electricity it's even got a lightning bug butt and taser antennas huzzah and now while moth manic pulls from Western comic book superheroes dominov could also remaster into tokus sect tokusatu is your classic japanese superhero TV show genre think Power Rangers type stuff or common rider especially which started the genre and the association of insect themed superheroes with the whole genre you can definitely see how tokus sect was inspired here Squire it's kind of a squire it's Squire e a squire was a knight's Apprentice doing menial tasks for them while learning how to become a knight and this one is a Pengalin fitting because Pengalin themselves are already armored and Squire can go down two paths becoming a paladin or a black knight both come in night tropes Mana spear is The Dark Knight version a squire who gave in to their dark impulses it fits the Trope well as Black Knights often Dawn dark armor without a Crest and tend to be powerful and bulk up and almost always cover their faces it's manifested a spear and it manipulates those around it to do its bidding because it is the strongest and it also has a maniple on its wrist also a maniple is a type of Roman soldier but contrast that with palangan a paladin Pengalin lighter armor face shown for the sake of chivalry this Knight is a hero of legendary status like the Knights of the Round Table it will save the day Kelli is a black Kitty with a TV for AE I like how it's said that it has a hard time connecting with other creatures because of the head but Cat 5 connects fine with its twin ethernet cable tals if you don't know Cat 5 is short for category 5 which is basically a kind or grade of ethernet cable it's standing so upright and being a black cat kind of makes me think of the Ki from Celtic mythology a black cat with a spot on its chest or crotch in the case of the Beast that was capable of connecting with people and stealing Souls puer cut is a puppy that's going to give you a paper cut except with sheets of metal it's a boxer but not like the boxer dog the boxer fighter even though boxing gloves are padded in such boxers and Fighters do sometimes still get Cuts oh wait is it because of uppercut the the vertical punching move often used in boxing yeah I'm dumb Southpaw the boxing wolf it has metal boxing gloves on its paws and also being a southpaw in boxing and baseball too actually is someone who is Left-Handed so they don't fight or pitch the same as most people bulleo or bulleo it's a giant walking bullet and it's big and tall like a T-Rex but if it wanted to velocci Rifle could instead become guaru or giru which combines Gear with Ryu which means dragon in Japanese it's a big gear dragon a mechanical Dragon a Mecca dragon and then there's Dil it's a seal with an old-fashioned diving helmet uh scub balus that makes it a scuba suit on a walrus that is the thinnest walrus I have ever seen never Mort is a mortifying mortician dealing with corpses and poisons as a carry and loving crow like the Raven qus in the famous poem by Edgar Alan Poe never more apocalypse that's the name you're going with I mean good on you to mix the word crow like in there it just it sounds silly and it looks like that uh it's a crow plague doctor Centaur thing really it's one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse from the Bible pestilence the wides spreading of disease like the black plague only it's it's a crow riding on a horse aocr lips clle It's A Clockwork grabby hand robot it resembles the fabled Robin Hood who would NAB riches from the rich to give to the poor now the SLE bit in the name was a bit odd for me at first but get this turns out the guy who plays Wesley in the classic Perfect film The Princess Bride is the same guy who plays Robin Hood in the classic perfect musical Men in Tights considering this game's time period and sense of humor that fits right in and a metaphor Wy joke like that seems really extra fitting because it remasters into Robin Dom Robin Hood did live around Nottingham after all but it's a double meaning here because also look at it it look at this robot body look at its face it's literally a Gundam from the world-renowned OG meca anime Mobile Suit Gundam though more specifically it is a zaku from gundam but still falou is literally just a Jackalope an American folklore creature except this one will Flack you with its staff Aller gets its name from the allseeing eye typically depicted as an eyeball on a pyramid and this one's right on top of a flying saucer because your typical UFO conspiracy theory aliens are often connected to ancient civilizations like ancient Egypt which leads us to kufo notice the UFO in its name but the name also pulls from kufu who was the Egyptian pharaoh who commissioned the Great Pyramid some conspiracies believe that the pyramids are actually ancient alien spaceships or teleporters you see uh so here is a metal slug War of the world's alien I guess but aler could instead become triin the war of the world's tripod ships but with Egyptian Decor all over it like the Sphinx from Egyptian mythology it fits well coming from the allseeing eye because spines were said to be all but omnicient in terms of their knowledge and this eye of raw inspired eye is also commonly found in the same sort of UFO allseeing eye conspiracy theory stuff but speaking of aliens another disguise they commonly take in media is generic businessman in boring generic suit which we see here with bra suit a little green man in a nice suit and tie it resembles the Flatwoods Monster a crypted from West Virginia that some say fell from the sky in a crashing UFO what's the bra in the name though the Flatwoods Monster was first seen in Braxton County it becomes Flatwoods a hovering alien with round eyes and floating arms it still has the tie and collar though but now its suit is very flowy and Flaps in the wind Sans time yeah it's a broken hourglass with a sand Elemental inside it's the sands of time the sand in an hourglass it's old-fashioned sling now but in the late 1800s 40 Winks meant to take a short nap like a catnap but this Beast is a sand Elemental carrying a broken hourglass but I do like its gas Masky face gas masks can also be used to breathe more easily in extremely Dusty or sand stormy environments and I like the detail of it being able to learn hypnotized and insomnia it makes me think of the sand man in European folklore who puts sand in people's eyes to put them to sleep salamis is a salamander Mage salamanders in mythology are lizardy beings of pure fire or even fire spirits to the ancient Romans and Arabs hence also its head shaped with the little flame on top it's like those ancient oil LS from the region it becomes pyron a pyromancer chameleon they not only breathe fire but can fully control it a little flame on the end of the tongue is just to show off their skill and as a bonus fact about these guys the yellow eyes you see here are actually just sacks of flammable liquid the nostrils here those are the real eyes musketeer so this is fun it's a musketeer yet it's not a muskrat or even a regular rat it's a mouse and rather than ride around on a real horse it's like a carousel Mouse which is weird unless you take into context what it remixes into rat cell uh that's the name but I guess it's like the rat Council while also being a rat Carousel but really it's a rat king a rat king is when a group of mice or rats get their tails tied together the first one was documented in the 16th century the same time that Musketeers started being a thing and like Musketeers they were mostly found in France but Germany too tadpole yeah that's a that's a tadpole RPG slime with a lily pad hat for sure it becomes frilly pad which is a frilly Lily pad much Frogg especially if you ignore the blue part which when hiding in the water you wouldn't even be able to see anyway like look at its icon the kelp is like green frog legs it just looks like a frog here given the wiggly kelpy hair and the Spooky red eyes it and Pad Poole both have it definitely gives off nixy or Knockin Vibes these creatures from Germanic and Scandinavian folklore often have bluish or greenish skin and hide almost completely underwater only revealing the top half of their creepy heads that are often covered in sticks or kelp or algae and just like freely pad's description they would lure their prey to the Shoreline before trapping and drowning them and then fre pad becomes lillig Gator whom I love so much its icon is also very froggy but unlike its previous forms it now doesn't have eyes perhaps because given the name it's a litigator and Justice is blind but then also the whole way its Lily Pad is so down and it has these wrappings and long frilly kelp here blowing in the wind it definitely makes me think of a ronin a masterless samur with their own sense of justice and in that case it could be pulling from the Kaa for its design a yo-kai that similarly hides just beneath the water surface and has the ugly hair it sneaks up on people on the shoreline and eats their souls but if we want to stick to Europe for this whole line there is also the Vago from northern Europe it's basically a Nixie only more frog likee and more of a long-haired old man but a mighty powerful old man one that hunts in the same way as the Nixie but is also capable of leveling entire buildings honestly there's a lot of Cryptids in folkore creatures that fit these guys grindo kelpy merman some nymphs deeon Moro and this might just bundle all their General ideas together into one beast and I've talked about this one for too long so let's move on to elf but how is it ESS if it's literally an elf specifically of the more F likee Santa elf variety oh no is it helpless is that why its name is elf it's it's helpless oh maybe it's selfless it's generous because it's a Santa elf it makes gifts uh well they hide their true emotions behind a mask and then they become a grampus who is described as an angry Yeti but it is also clearly pulling from the crompus from Christmas or U tide folklore a very hairy devil-like dude who punishes naughty children come Christmas time but elfas could also become a ferious though a fay who is serious and imperious and given the green outfit and sword and wooden shield and the hat and the sword is in the left hand like yeah this is retro link link from the older Legend of Zelda games who was also an elf but this one here is also a snowman rushroom it's a mushroom with with a paintbrush wow mushrooms do come in a ton of colors though and some even seep colorful liquids which I guess is paint like Fungo well at least it's not named fun guy this is fungus vano world famous painter and all that I do appreciate the Added Touch of its outfit and pose though it's reminiscent of kung fu so maybe it's Fungo Bolam huh got to say I'm glad cassette beasts didn't just do the usual wannabe Pokémon like route which is to just like make all their monsters be it's a dog but with an element it's an onire dog you know it's so easy and so obvious and generic but but then you you look at Bolam what even is this uh it shoots lightning it's got magnet Powers uh it's described as a pinball headed creature like what they stuck a pinball and pinball flippers on the head of a like a chimp is it like that ape they shot into space Oh like how pinballs shoot up into the machine 3D space pinball oh I just Googled it that chimp's name was ham why did they name it chimp ham that's not important this Beast is named bolt ham bolt ham it's literally the astronaut chimp ham and then it becomes plasm antler it's got plasma antlers lightning is like a kind of plasma but like what is uh maybe I should just let my gut tell me what it is like that's how I got the last one what is this body shape it's like uh is it a wendigo oh no it totally is they got antlers in the same really weird body shape the wend too is an evil spirit from The Plains and Great Lakes Natives and it fits this description too Bolam having absorbed enough electrical energy that its own body has grown significantly you see in many stories and representations the wendigo Spirit possesses a human and makes them feel angry and have insatiable greed and hunger to the point of cannibalism they eat and eat and absorb so much animal and human flesh that they begin to grow into this messed up monster and chimps are very closely related to humans after all only in this case since instead of consuming the Flesh of other beasts it consumes so much electricity that it mutates and starts cracking and falling apart bushy yeah okay that's just a green man common folkloric personification of spring especially in Europe though it is sometimes criticized for being Pagan hence the little devil tale here hunt torch yep now it's got the devil horns it's got a torch and it's really good at hunting especially long distances which invokes the wild Hunt which is basically one story retold within countless European folklores and mythologies which is notable because it remasters into hedge Hearn who has a hedge it is based on Hearn the hunter from English folklore one of his most noteworthy doings was leading one of the original wild hunts you see and just like Hearn the hunter hedg Hearn has antlers and a big horn that he blows into Terra cooka that's so cute an adorable little cook made of Terra Cotta a type of clay as many ancient ovens were made from clay too just like the dogu that its body is based on these clay figures were made during the the Yan period of prehistoric Japan coldron is also a dogu but one who functions as a coal powerered cauldron large cooking pots think like Witches Brew except this one makes lava stardig grade tardigrades are microscopic creatures that live pretty much anywhere there's moisture and they are insanely durable famously they are the only known species to survive in the vacuum of space completely unharmed so here they gave it a jetpack and made it a little Spaceman it remasters into gagor it's like a little Galaga alien with intense armor inside the armor though it is just a mushy pink Worm but one intelligent enough to build this suit and explore the Galaxy notably agore and Agora is Greek for wide and open space which space definitely is mascot toy oh it's a Japanese mascot suit but a stuffed toy version of it oh no and then Masco torn it's ruined it's all torn up those are some scary claws going to tear you up Bader it's it's just a doll from Doctor Who with a Metroid head except really this alien invader is an upside down trash can a waste bin and then it's your modern plastic wheelie bin as a binter Loper it's another word for Invader basically twirly gig is a twirly gig any novelty spinning toy on a stick but it's also a soldier training dummy then Kitty Coy is specifically a Japanese styled training dummy with a bulen a wooden training sword in Japanese Kitty can mean once or to finish perhaps like the single strike that Samurai and training use constantly and Cy can mean Chestnut Kitty Cy is made of very nice wood after all but bonus fact I just learned Cy cie is also the Japanese automonopia for breast fondling I don't know why that needs a sound effect but that could explain why this training dummy is so oh no oh no I love gelatin like it's a slime with a skeleton slimes and gelatinous cubes are often depicted with bones inside of them because they dissolve all the Flesh of their prey it's jelly it's skeleton and together it sounds like gelatin like the stuff in Jell-O which itself is made from powdered bones speet has a spear-like spiral snail shell on its head also known as spires and it spins rapidly a dance move known as a pouette plus it's an ice skater figure skating involves a lot of Rapid spins too but it dissolves its shell when it becomes a Regency now a sort of sea slug with a jellyfish on its head it's still a rapidly spinning ballet dancer however the sea in the name is obvious but a regent is someone who stands in for the king or queen a substitute Queen basically it can also refer to the Regency period where Noble's often dressed like this Jumpin it's a pumpkin that jumps it's a little Jacko Lantern beanstalker adds Bean stalks and is said to be a creepy axe murdering pumpkin so yeah it's definitely a stalker this how spooky like Jacko lanterns Plus in the fairy tale Jack and the beanock Jack kills the giant by chopping down the beanock with an axe dracul Leaf now they've added on another Halloween classic vampires Dracula specifically dracul Leafs absorb life force through their Roots similar to vampires such sucking blood and similar to plants thriving off of blood meal and corpses Pond dead is a skeleton an undead pwn piece from chess it becomes skele evangelist the bishop piece in chess a religious Authority like televangelists and then it could become king grave the king piece in chess and still a Graven Undead one body engraved in stone or skele evangelist could become a queenex the queen pieace with the Globus Cru it's named after NYX the Greek goddess of darkness and the night burnus is a burning furnace a living industrial factory with a large Smoke Stack then smog Magog you know a common misconception but the giant clouds you see coming out of nuclear plant cooling towers isn't smoke or even pollution it's literally just steam but but whatever it's a big furnace Golem spewing Smog and based on the giant Gog Magog from Welsh and English mythology while also a applying the Islamic ahmadia movement's take on Gog and MOG which adds on underlying themes of blazing fire and boiling water to what is viewed as the industrial use of fire and steam that also explains why Yu-Gi-Oh and Final Fantasy also apply fire to the British giant who otherwise has nothing to do with it fauceteer is a sad leaking water faucet it's crying tears also ear is a suffix used to make agent nouns especially for French words like a Cher or a patier or a musketeer a fauceteer job is to be a faucet and Fountain is now a frowning CEST Fountain a sad showerhead with a big fancy water dress and a big fancy hat cluck a billy yeah it's a rock Billy chicken chicken say goldfish in a fish bowl attached to a walking Mech and and shark tanker is a shark that brings a whole fish tank of water on its back plus tankers themselves are large ships that transport liquids like oil across the ocean so flipping the script shark tanker is transporting water across the land pom bom now that's a fun name sounds like a pom pom but no it's a bomb that's also a Pomeranian dog honestly their fur is so poofy and outwards they already look like tiny explosions I like the fuse tail and spitzfire is a spits another dog breed they are just like bigger Pomeranians really and this one has Aviator goggles because the Spitfire was the main aircraft used by the British in World War II and also because this dog spits fire ice peek is a classic drinking bird toy only the water is frozen and so it has an icicle beak one it can use as an ice pick too then cryo Shear has two ice blades which are sheer like shears or scissors cryo means cold and a cryosphere is a climate where it's always ice cold so the Arctic and Antarctic no wonder it's bundled up in multiple layers of cloaks and scarves spark ton a sentient Thundercloud with a mechanical electr powerered body it Sparks and it's small like a child ton is the Japanese honorific for cute little children but also maybe it's pronounced sparkon sounds like Spartan which is notable because it becomes Zeus strike Zeus is the Greek god of thunder and lightning and is known to throw lightning bolts like Spears same deal here it's even wearing a Greek hoplight helmet kunco literally described as anime Catgirl which is a popular archetype in anime especially from the'80s to the mid 2000s Neco is Japanese for cat and the name could be pulling from kunoichi a female ninja which Kuno is she can become shining Kuno which is just the same but better she's an archangel now too and we'll get to what that means soon but first we got to talk about Jin atonic I love that name it's a Jin also known as a genie gashes intelligent Spirits from Arabian mythology and this one here is also literally Spirits a term for various strong alcoholic drinks like JY it's a bartender you see and bartenders and butlers are there to Grant your wishes aren't they but instead of being a Genie in a lamp it's in a martini shaker one popular Spirit drink is the Jin and tonic tonic is just carbonated water that is most often used as a mixer like with gin to make a gin and tonic so here's Gonic oh I love him plus if you get blackout drunk and pass out you become catatonic so it's just so good arid yeah it's just a robot kid that likes to play in the arcade how radical undying is not dying anytime soon plus it's an undy a European Elemental water spirit a sort of more ghostly mermaid or siren really so a fish person but spookier but still wanting to kill you this one has a harpoon spook Ona It's a Spooky yukiona a famous yo-kai from northern Japan a womanly Ice Spirit in a kimono that brings blizzards and lures men close so she can freeze them to death key is a scarab beetle carrying a miniature sun and is likely named after kepri the Egyptian god of the morning sun who is a scarab beetle H aoir is Aven yes but that name does sound a lot like aroa which is French for goodbye but given its color and what it's carrying and what it's standing on it's definitely just straight up the liver bird a mythical English bird with this famous statue now that's just one to one glass stain is a Stained Glass fairy clearly based on the glass Stig from Celtic myology at least in name the glig is a fairy woman ghost Fawn that can appear beautiful or monstrous depending on the mood and is also depicted very differently in different stories in what she does so uh can be anything Miss mimik described as a booby trapped item locker and that description is apt her head is the locker caches you find around the game and like your typical RPG mimic some of them are secretly monsters and lastly for the regular beasts it's anathema the gross Frankenstein monster and that's pretty much what it is the monster from the classic Frankenstein story plus a chimera a combining of many animals into one only in this case it's parts from many various cassette beasts but what's with that name well while very uncommonly said anathema is just a word it means something that one vehemently dislikes or a formal curse by the church excommunicating a person which is what the towns folk did to Frankenstein's monster in the story wow and as we were finishing this video up they added some more in an update this is another remaster of Bolam it's pin bolt this time Bolam leaned more into the pinball machine aspect of its design and became this pinball pixie like creature its entire body is even shaped like a peg or pin common in pinball and pachinko machines Dil gets interesting finally with its new dive BG remaster it's an Arctic diver now and has a big Iceberg sticking out of its back it being digitigrade is interesting it's like It reversed its own DNA to grow bigger as seals and sea lions used to more closely resemble otter with their pets millions of years ago adept style comes from salamis and it's a reptilian Adept or naturally skilled scholar of the Arcane Arts it actually lacks a body entirely it is a floating head with a flowy Scholar's robe and a necklace with a triangle perhaps it's just the symbol for Unity and balance in all things adep is also a common is term used for those skilled in alchemy TR worm will trap you in its jaws it's quite oddl looking with the legs uh but it's based on a bobbit worm those worms that sit in the sand vertically and reach out to grab prey with our oversized fencers and given it and its remastered worm's more European Dragon Vibes you could also say that they're based on weams basically another kind of word for Dragon like long dragons perhaps even the central European lindorm which was pretty much just a long snake likee worum with the same sorts of fins feric Claw is feris meaning made of iron hence the rust and oraw is aifer meaning golden hence the gold but both are ders basically spider centaurs these ones live in caves and Adorn themselves with the Death Masks they find in the tombs of ancient civilizations now I love pixie like like actually the name just sounds like pixie admittedly but it's wielding a pickaxe and so it's it's Pixy yeah and while it's a little mining Goblin with the super long ears they act more like dwarves tiny dudes who dig deep in caves all day and Adorn themselves with the riches they find honestly I just think these are really cute well and the DLC peer of the unknown just came out actually and it adds a whole extra location and Side Story and quite a few new beasts as well the fire type Charle Quinn is a harlequinn a sort of evolution of the jester clowning around making jokes and doing tricks to entertain others but Harley quins specifically tended to play mean spirited devil characters hence these party hats resembling demon horns and it's also a charlatan someone who tricks scams or cheats people out of their money think like a snake oil salesman or carnival game operator blunder buk blunders around on its Balan ball bottom and its fiery blasts shoot out clumsily too like the wide barreled blunderbus gun from the 17th century also to busk is to perform music or other entertainment in the street to get monetary donations just putting on a public show perhaps in an attempt to cheat people out of their money because there's also fragile AI here to join the performance too it's fragile hence the seemingly broken arms and it's a Lackey a maner who keeps shows and things running smoothly in this case it's like the guy walking around the crowds collecting donations and managing any snake oil sales and spooking away the folks who've discovered that it's a scam aair is cute it's a little hair a bunny battery I love the wire cutter ears an ampere is a small measurement of electricity and aair here Zips around back and forth in lightning patterns like how rabbits and hairs run away from predators it remasters into laitor now a whole electric capacitor and biologically speaking speaking hairs find themselves in the lagomorpha order and the family lepor day hence this Beast being leasor it having two claws on each hand works out well too as it may be pulling from the aru from Japanese folklore a thunder and lightning causing creature that is most commonly depicted as canine yes but can also take the form of other small mammals like ferrets rabbits rats and the like and plus a nearby rabbit thumping its foot on a hollow log as a call is said to sometimes sound like distant Thunder haom it's your possessed floating book troop common haunted house F but also magical books or Toms themselves containing spells or Forbidden Knowledge could themselves become Enchanted or possessed in order to protect their pages from undeserving eyes little red I mean it's Little Red Riding Hood obviously the popular fairy tale character though rather than a little girl in a small red hood this Beast appears to be a little devil or perhaps a little wolf in Disguise like the big bad wolf in the story hence Scarlet teeth yeah the big bad wolf or perhaps even your classic werewolf perhaps Little Red Riding Hood grew and became a anthropomorphic wolf herself beastly and dead inside from the trauma of the event but that is not the only possible fate for little red who could also become Rose Hood filling a basket with picked roses and still wearing her favorite Red Devil Hood a much more pleasant fate unless you're a furry minor Tom and Major Tom they are little springy robots sitting in little springy Rockets like those quarter operated popular children's rides that shake back and forth inside of a mall or in front of a grocery store these were very popular and iconic of the ERA this game takes place after all and so is what the names are referencing Major Tom is the name of an astronaut in the ever popular song Space odity also known as ground control to Major Tom by David Bowie himself it's one of those songs that will probably stay in The Ether of Pop knowledge for centuries due to its cultural impact especially through the decades immediately following its release which again is this game's time period umbrella the umbrella from Hell hence the little devil tale and having one eye also brings to mind the iconic umbrella yo-kai the casa obake a possessed umbrella with one eye two arms and one leg it hops around with its tongue all out to be even Vil and mischievous the word umbrella itself just means Shadow or casted Darkness so like what an umbrella does but it's also often associated with Devils demons witches and Hell creatures and the like it's hella cool but then we now enter big spoiler warning time the legendary Pokémon equivalent in this game are known as archangels they are EG gregorus Greek chaos magic that manifested themselves into existence thanks to the will and desires of human ity they are mostly bad news so you got to stop them that's the plot of the game Morant and Morant Gestalt are archangels of rebellion the body is broken into pieces as gastal means something greater than the sum of its parts like jigsaw puzzles you don't look at individual pieces you try and picture the whole thing to find where the piece goes morgant then may be from Morana the antagonistic witch in The King Arthur Mythos one who rebelled against the kingdom and tried to overthrow it pap or poetto is a higher being made of Otherworldly matter it sees living things merely as toys as it is the Incarnation of puppetry hence the name the suffix o x means having such an appearance or weapon like a mace with extra spiky spikes on a ball-shaped end fitting of its many spikes but these are some of the weapons commonly used by clerics in many RPGs which is fitting as this Archangel is the Incarnation of devotion makes sense as it was brought about by the devotion of a cult notably its demon head angel wings and serpent belt brings to mind the biblical Satan himself a fallen angel who first revealed himself to humanity in the form of a serpent offering a sinful fruit of knowledge to Eve notably one of morning star's signature special moves is called Temptation where it creates an apple tree nowhere Monarch is a very rubber hose cartoony AR Angel and the Incarnation of consumerism born from Mankind's dedication to consuming media so of course it's found in the depths of a mall now while it's clearly a monarch a king who creates several servants for himself in battle it is described as the King of Nothing hence the nowhere in its name if all you do is consume media what or where do you get in life nothing nowhere well considering it knows the move trick and it's a silly rubber hose graphic novel man maybe a Jester their whole stick was making soft mockery of the king so a Jester pretending to be the king would be a king of nothing and if we consider pero clowns a much later type of Jester almost they were typically black and white like his arms or black and white with red like his weird center sne now hecka hedrin that is an ever-shifting cube a true 4D shape like a tesseract its body is an incarnation of mathematic Perfection and we can only observe its 3D Shadow for it is itself is a 4D being uh you see it and you say what the heck is that what the heck is this shap it's a heck aedin hedrin defines that something is a 3D shape it means face like a tetrahedron has four faces or a DOA hedrin has 12 but because we cannot possibly count this 4D shaped sides well the heck a hedrin but also hea is Egyptian for magic it's sort of like a magic shape play fitting as Robin is is the Incarnation of theatrics and is directly named after puck in the story who also goes by Robin Goodfellow and even when you're doing the quest in this game to find Robin Goodfellow you find out that yes this is literally the robin Goodfellow from the story straight up the character from the play with a body and an art style similar to Medieval and Renaissance manuscripts the only difference is that puck originally doesn't have a donkey head but he does leave curses on people to turn their heads into donkey heads self cursed here Mammon is the Incarnation of capitalism The Pursuit Of Money above all else even the well-being of humanity in the Bible Mammon is a term used even by Jesus for vast riches specifically how the influence of gaining such riches turns you away from God quote you cannot serve God and Mammon you cannot be a Christian with vast wealth but because this scared the extremely wealthy and Powerful cathol AIC church and the Royals in the Middle Ages they decided that Mammon is a literal demon that you cannot worship and in cassette beasts here's that demon a collage of cutouts from various art styles capitalism comes in many forms but in the end it is chaos and always falls apart lamento Mori is the Incarnation of the anxiety and fear of death bones and skulls tend to be symbols of death since well forever and antlers are made of bone too so perfect it's art is very similar to a lot of alchemic and medieval illustrations especially from around the time of the black death and honestly I'm not sure what the sphere on top is supposed to resemble a bacteria or virus maybe perhaps a frog egg like the plague of frogs in the Bible or as a symbol of rebirth after death like the Egyptian sundisk not sure but the name is simply Latin lamento Mori means I lament to die or I am afraid to die balith is a monolith that is also the Tower of Babel from the Bible a tower built in a Blasphemous attempt to reach God this Archangel is the Incarnation of ignorance after all ignorance is bliss and this dude is a pretty happy jokester but it's not just ignorance the lack of knowledge rather it's man's strange ability to actively choose ignorance rather than be made uncomfortable or take a hit to their ego bilith itself resembles a child's drawing ignorant of accurate Anatomy or proper art skills and it's got a demon or Goblin head it carries the moon because in many cultures especially in the Fertile Crescent they saw the new moon as a symbol of ignorance a lack of knowledge Darkness while a full moon was the opposite the Amber Lodge is an archangel that you don't fight actually because it's benevolent it is a living building that functions a bit like the Tardis from Doctor Who bigger on the inside sentient female and able to travel space and time to to help out people yeah now Alf the red king of conquest and the Archangel of Conquest traveling around the cosmos and conquering all he can he's the main antagonist of the game and is named after the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet Alf his head being a perfect equilateral triangle definitely screams New World Order Illuminati stuff even if it is upside down but to focus in on that more in alchemy an upside down equilateral triangle can be used to indicate the beginning of a process of transformation which is sort of alf's goal transform many worlds by conquering them he can transform into Alf null null meaning zero invalid nothing and it is a chamical combination of most of the other archangels all in one a mighty powerful final boss with the upside down allseeing World conquering eye now inside of a circular Sun symbol which in alchemy is a part of the symbol for the ultimate work the philosopher stone the magnum opus ultimate godhood the gaining of Godly powers or maybe that's a coincidence because it's it's not like perfect or anything but now you'd think that last one being the final boss in all would be the last Archangel but no there's three more Helia is Helios but feminine so Helia an incarnation of the power of fusion it resembles the Sun as well as an atom as as well as an ofine those high ranking biblical Angels described as wheel like with many eyes they're typically on fire the merline is another Archangel that you don't really fight because like the amber Lodge it's just sort of a sentient vehicle this one may only be taking the form of a train to our human eyes as it itself is sort of eldrich and ancient in its power it and its Railway are just a way to quickly get around the land by quickly traveling through a vast and unknowable infinite Labyrinth that spans the mult Multiverse and so only it can truly navigate it but in itself is also supposedly responsible for all of the people and creatures you encounter in cassette beasts as it brought them all together here in this reality in the first place and it may be named after Merlin the incredibly powerful wizard from the King Arthur Mythos in some stories he's almost all- knowing and can mess with time and space and parallel worlds but being a train it's the myr line because train routes are called lines and lastly Lena who interestingly is from the developer last game Lena's Inception which is a classic Zelda likee I also enjoyed really the fight with her here is just as an Easter egg she's categorized as an archangel so she can have boss mechanics but in lore she isn't really she's a video game character whose cardridge was hit by a cosmic ray so she and the other characters in her game gained sentience and now she's here because of reality bending Merlin stuff and that finally was all of the cassette beasts and Archangels in cassette beasts explain however wait there is a super secret number zero Beast it's Magik CB who's just sort of a traffic crab but with a wizard's hat and orb it's number zero because they are so rare they are thought to almost not exist even though they were the first cassette beast in the land
