so Saturday July 21st we're having a big subscriber meet where everyone's gonna bring out their go-karts and mini bikes we're gonna do some trail riding and some drag racing we're planning on bringing a bunch of stuff including the rail of the Ct 70s and the trail master but we figured we would need some backup vehicles because honestly our stuff breaks all the time and just the train out there is very hard on it honesty so we have these two red Coleman CT 200 use that Ike bought used for like 150 bucks a piece last year and we figured they would make for great backup vehicles we're gonna fire them up ride them around and make some modifications to him to make them a little peppier I'm willing to bet that whoever owned this one last they dumped it over because there's a chunk missing from the handle grip there and the brake is also gone we have a bolt missing from this front luggage rack I would have some bolts out of sprocket we have no we were chained just kind of weird that one's been yeah yeah look at the tires there's plenty of wear on those tires but then look at mine we have two bikes here one of them were leaving completely stocked and the other one we're adding a torque converter for better takeoff performance kit for the engine and we are removing the governor for more rpms we're using CT 200 kits available from go power sports comm including the torque converter converter kit is that it actually comes with engine risers so I'm sure you guys remember from a couple years ago when we had to stack a wooden block underneath the engine on a mini bike to get it to 12 the fit with the torque converter no more of that [Applause] [Applause] all right that rounds like garbage there's a chance someone had it on its side man stria filled up the muffler with hole yep oh it does have a oil in there yep all right looks like a nose dumped yeah [Music] I clear right up like magic someone someone dumped this over on its side and it filled up the air filter so since we could have a damaged engine on this CT 200 we're gonna modify the one that already works perfectly well which we probably should start with that anyway and we'll just take the good parts from this one and put it on this one as we take them off and modify modify it yep I think so yeah all right let's get started so I've got the four bolts to the engine plate unbolted moved it over to this one side to give me more room for the throttle check out the female is this the first one we've gotten that was plastic so now that the governor's removed it's time to get started installing our torque converter kit here now just want to say that removing the governor is not at all necessary when you're doing these kind of modifications but the engine will flow a lot better especially with the performance kit with the increased rpm it's not for everybody but it is a good way to get more performance for your small engine we have a 1 spacer and we have a 2 spacers looks like you need to go up from underneath with the bolts next thing we're gonna install is this torque converter with your kit comes a bag of bolts these bolts both the torque converter onto your engine oh we got to cut that off so our talking about your back plate and rear pulley are bolted onto the engine and at this point we need to point out an important difference between newer CT 200s and older ones this is an older model and it uses an engine with a 3/4 inch output shaft if you have an older one like us with a 3/4 inch output shaft you're going to need to order a different organ verdure and the engine spacers separately so they're links to those in the description too let's show people how to measure the output shaft because we get a lot of questions on Facebook and Instagram about stuff like that so all you do is just take your clutch off your engine put a tape measure to the end of the output shaft in so you can clearly see that it's a 3/4 inch the newer ones are 5/8 inch and that's what comes in the the CT 200 performance kit but we have a separate torque murder with 3/4 inch pulley to install here these belts have a flat side on one side and you turn it over and it's tapered right there this pulley has a flat side on this side and then the other piece that I'm going to be installing has the tapered piece on it as you can see so you want to make sure the belt is on correctly otherwise you're going to be going through belts like no tomorrow it's so cool no way dude we can totally do it exactly the mark one we don't even have to shorten it or lengthen let's see what you got for the throttle time what you have now I see a spring from the front cover to its linkage here no governor okay Rock Paper Scissors shoot that's me this did you get to the food [Applause] hey you got 40 yes it's not bad yeah we need to let it breathe [Music] so our torque converter conversion is complete it's performing really really well much better than the clutch as you can see it does little wheelies off the line but now that we have the bottom end grunt it's time to add the high end power so it's time to install the performance kit we need to start by taking the muffler off maybe a little bit of finagling so the kit comes with a nice new exhaust gasket is clean free of debris you talking to me or the people maybe both is ours clean and 4uw okay and there's the header so now it's time for the air filter the air filter adapter imagej we've done this before on this channel but this first time doing it on a 196 on a CT 200 so 210 millimeter nuts just like a predator do 212 so this is our air filter adapter it's nice and engraved here it also has a choke lever orange oak bracket and holds the choke down because if you're not if you don't have one you're choking pop off whatever you write yourself know something I learned in my early days of there is a jet fuel jet inside that carburetor and you can access it from underneath without taking the carburetor off air filter I didn't put a gasket in there whew don't forget your adapter gasket guys [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] or day yeah geez well well what's the verdict hey man that's probably the first time you've ever done that out of all our mini bikes this is the one you don't over 42.5 oh I mean we picked up two and a half miles an hour and that doesn't account for games and the other parts of the power band it'll dump you off like it just did yeah we got our parts bike going we just had to tighten this rock it up add a chain at a brake handle switched over the air filters and a couple other little things here and there so we're gonna do the cars and cameras Grand Prix with both bikes at the same time I can't honestly cannot handle the power I think that's all we need to know about the torque converter swap on the CT 200 yep she will engage oh yeah and you can carry a wheelie with it too really skilled yeah it would love to dump you over on it really wants to which honestly I'm not good at wheelies so after riding both of these bikes around Ike and I both agree that the only time we can really recommend a stock bike is too inexperienced riders or or people who like don't want to go fast which I think they exist I don't know I mean obviously you have insane acceleration from the torque converter I mean we learned that years ago when we put that on my nine reasons to buy an old go-kart go-kart but in a minibike it'll dump you off the back and I'll also carry a wheelie so you need to be good with your throttle modulation a couple things we didn't think about that like as we were riding around we found out is that the torque converter acts as an engine brake when you're going downhill so you know when you have like a clutch or something and you're going down a long hill you need to use your brake you could overheat it that is not the case with the torque converter you just kind of crack the throttle to where you want it and it'll slow down as you as you modulate the throttle and finally if you're gonna be doing a lot of putting around the torque converters also a better bet because the clutch will stay kind of half engaged at low speeds and you'll overheat it and ruin it so that was our CT 200 torque converter install and performance kit installer been meaning to do this video for a long time and I think it's obvious that the modified bike is better huge surprise right
