hello and welcome to episode one of knit sip happy my name is nancy also known as wheel's wife on instagram and ravelry and i'm here with my glass of wine today to get me past the first episode jitters nice cold white wine today it is intermittently sunny and cloudy so my lighting may change a little bit as i'm sitting here in front of a nice big window for some light so i've wanted to do this for a while but i thought i would be brave and do it today and show you some finished objects things that i'm working on and some dream knitting i've got a vacation coming up with lots of car knitting time um and i will need to fill my hands with something to keep me occupied so first uh i'm going to talk about socks if you follow me on social media you'll know i'm a big sock knitter i need a lot of socks i do test knits i sample knit and i've recently started designing sock patterns as well but i'm not going to bore you with all of that but i am going to show you a lot of socks probably um i usually knit anywhere from two to three pairs a month i do a lot of gift knitting for family and friends i also do a lot for me even though i have way more socks than i can possibly wear in my lifetime but i just love knitting them easy portable projects that you can have a little fun with but today i finished these are the leftovers this is a new yarn base from yarn indulgences uh bfl sock blend and i tested up a sample pair for debra to take to the kawartha yarn festival in ontario i should mention i'm located in moncton new brunswick canada i'm on the east coast of canada beautiful beaches a lovely scenery we have been here for over 20 years and love it carrying on with the socks so i only have one here but this is the second of the pair the first sock is still with debra that she took to ontario so this is the sugar frost socks it's a simple textured pattern top down heel flap and gusset look at the camera nance not at the screen i hope to get better at this um yeah so this is sock number two deborah has the first one lovely squishy bfl nylon i can't wait to net pair for myself it's a new base in her shop and she'll be linked below the next pair of socks that i knit holy cow they almost need a screen for themselves these are a manly man pair giant 11 long legged feet for my grown son so this is my freddy beach sock pattern and this is in a commercial sock yarn and i just dropped the tag way over there so i'm going to just read it it's the comfort sock and walla it's a german sock yarn he can use it and abuse it it goes he usually puts his socks in the washer and the dryer so he doesn't get anything fancy but he does love his hand knit socks so this pattern is my freddy beach sock again i'm not going to uh to talk too much about my patterns i wanted to talk about all of my whips not just my designs but this is a fun slip stitch with an elongated that was designed to look after one of our favorite places look like one of our favorite places in fredericton new brunswick which is the capital of our province if i talk too fast you can always slow me down but comment below that i'm i have done this all my life i have things to get out and i go quick i apologize the other uh things i wanted to show you i just pulled um a t-shirt off the blocking mat this is a renit for me i didn't wear it today because i was already wearing my garden gate which i turned into a t-shirt it's by jennifer steingass i test knit this a few years ago love it keep minnington in another one and just never get around to it um i would like a longer sleeve version of this it's a fingering weight color work sweater i love fingering weight sweaters i'm at that time of life where i tend to run a little hot and cold and a fingering weight sweater just seems to to even things out for me and keep me going anyway back to this one this is edie it's gonna be hard to show you it's a linen t-shirt that i've knit uh this is by isabel cramer i have knit lots of these before i think this is my fifth version this is actually the second time i've knitted with this yarn this is uh the knit picks uh lindy chain i had knit this in a larger size a few years ago and i wanted to reuse the yarn but i wanted to rip out the sweater so i ripped out the t-shirt and i've re-knit it in this lindy chain color is clarity it's a nice linen cotton blend it's perfect for the summer it's nice and light easy to wash and wear and drapes beautifully interesting story the reason i started knitting isabelle kramer designs is because my maiden name is kramer and it's spelt exactly the same way which you don't see very often as an aside drop that on the floor and we're moving right along look in the camera not yourself nance maybe it's time for another sip of wine slow me down maybe the other finished thing that i have to show you is another test knit um this is um going to be coming out july 1st from jill karina i will link her instagram below but there's no project to link to yet because it hasn't been released again i'm not sure how this is going to show this is the summer flirt cardigan uh beautiful weight fingering sticked cardigan that i did in bamboo yikes i was really concerned about the stick stitches slipping i had a friend of mine the lovely debra of yarn indulgences actually machine sew the stick for me because i don't have a sewing machine um so this is going to just has two buttons at the top a gorgeous lace yolk and then vanilla all the way down so i just put two buttons at the top where are they there they are two buttons at the top and it'll be worn open um i wanted to have something just a layer over tank tops um or or shirts that are sleeveless dresses that i could wear at work with just provide a little more coverage um i do have to i did full length sleeves which in retrospect was a mistake um i need to rip these sleeves back and turn them into three-quarter length sleeves this 100 bamboo yarn stretched quite a lot vertically and it the sleeves don't and it stretches it also stretched out horizontally so the sleeves don't stay pushed up on my forearms so i have to make a few small edits to that and give it a light re-blocking and then take some pretty pictures so i have it ready for release so that's it for finished things i'm going to gather up my uh whips and i'll be back to show you those hello you might notice this is nancy from the future i'm no longer wearing my garden gate i'm wearing my two finished garments i've got a different color wine that's also a clue that it is a different day i'm drinking rose a today rose all day it's a hot hot day i just got home from work and while i'm still in hair and makeup before i go into weekend mode i thought i would do a better job with showing you my finished objects that were garments um i looked at the footage as i was editing it and i did a terrible job showing you my finished objects garments so i have slipped on my uh summer flirt cardigan over my edt so we're not quite getting the the correct vibe but it'll give you a better idea so summer flirt cardigan i'm going to stand up and give you a better view it's a lovely lace yoke um there is an option in the pattern this pattern hasn't been released yet it's a test knit that i've done it's coming out next week july 1st but there is an option to do a longer yoke with an extra lace repeats to just to make it a deeper yolk i'm less a fan of that look i was just looking for more traditional looking cardigan open fronted just with two buttons that i can wear over tank tops or perhaps summer dresses just to make them a little more appropriate for work um i love this cardigan i um the only modifications i made it a little bit longer in length and i had mentioned in my earlier footage that these sleeves i'm going to have to modify them the bamboo yarn has gone very loosey-goosey so i think i want to bring it up to three-quarter length sleeve maybe even a little bit higher just to help them i also think i might need to do something to tighten up this neck again this bamboo yarn is is stretching with the weight um and i just think i need to tighten up this neck so i need to drag some real wool out if i put a crochet edge all the way around my ribbing i think that will pull it in but i don't want to do it in the bamboo because i think i'll have the same stretching issue okay is that all i need to say for that pattern is coming i will link my ravelry page but again there's no ravelry project to our pattern to purchase or look at yet because it hasn't been released but this will be the summer flirt cardigan all right i'm going to take off this cardigan it's a warm one in here this door has been closed all day to give the air conditioning a chance all right still not looking at the camera okay so this is evie i'm gonna have to come back just a little bit further all right i love this shirt i have knit this i think this is my fifth one i have ripped out one of them because and used reuse this yarn i did mention that in the earlier footage but i didn't really tell you what i did um i do modify this not a ton um v-neck you do a pickup along the v-neck you don't have to you can do a raw edge i like the pickup and i did it a little tighter this time just to bring it up um a little bit again and make it more office appropriate and tighten up the back i found the one i'm wearing now is just a little loose and it's falling off my shoulders a little bit so it's raglan and then you've got these great texture bands which you don't have to do they're quite subtle but it's a really nice nice look i've done some without lengthened my sleeves just to get them past my lovely middle aged arms i like my sleeves a little bit longer and modifications to the body you can see i mentioned before i am quite pear shaped i'm narrower in the middle and then quite white as i go down to my hips so i followed the waist in sorry the waist decreases that are in the pattern i followed those and then in the pattern when it says to start the waist increases or the hip increases goodness me i did those hip increases every inch which is a lot more than is recommended in the pattern but it gives me that skimming shape that i like in this and makes it so comfortable to wear there's a purl stitch detail all the way down and underneath the sleeve you can't really see it's just a nice little detail and it's got a rounded hem you do some short rows front and back and gives you that nice shape all right i hope that is a better job and show off of these again it's my first time doing this and showing it off cheers i hope that showed the projects to a better example of what they really are than me just randomly holding them up i'm going to insert this footage somewhere in there probably right before whips so it's going to be a little disjointed my apologies for that hopefully i'll get better at this if i do it again now back to nancy of the past okay i have a pile of project bags down here uh these are projects that i'm working on i've got a few behind the camera that i've abandoned and if i do this again i might pull them out and show them to you all right in my gorgeous mishnoch bag that i got at knit city montreal i just started a new project yesterday in ilimani sabri which is a cotton alpaca fingering weight blend so i have it's naveen n-a-v-e-e-n i will link it below and if i get smart enough i might put a picture in there we'll see how that goes there's no picture i didn't figure it out um so it's a v-neck uh shaped shoulder a-line uh summer top hits all the buttons for me lava v-neck lovin a-line fingering weight cotton so this is where i have gotten to i've got the sleeves here the start of the v-neck at the front the back and repeat it's showing a little brighter than it is on the screen but it is a lovely kind of turquoisey blue and you'll also know if you follow me at all that's kind of in my comfort zone as well so i've got three skeins of this ilimani sabri which should be plenty to do this i just started it'll be great when i can get into the round and not have to do all those long purl rows with the increases which is what you have to do to get to the v-neck i love the v-neck enough that i will do the purling so that was that project the other garment i have on the needles and it's been a bit neglected because i think i have sized it wrong this is um sunshine coast by heidi kiermeier i am knitting this in a nettle bamboo linen blend gorgeous got a sheen to it it's blues and purples and quite lovely that color is actually pretty good um i have gotten down past i've separated for the sleeves and i'm working my way down the body this is um i'm doing it three-quarter length sleeves it is a lovely a-line shape which works for me i am totally a pear shape smaller on top bigger on bottom so a line works for me i changed the gauge on this it's a dk sweater and this yarn is not quite dk and i think that's where i made my mistake i need to take it off the needles and put it on the try on cords and see i might even steam it i just need to see before i carry on if i'm going to be able to block this to something that i'm comfortable wearing i also didn't alternate skeins and i've got a bit of flashing underneath my boobs and i can't decide if that's going to bother me or not the um of ripping back about eight inches of stockinette oh might even be more than eight inches ten inches of stockinette doesn't overly appeal to me but i have a sunshine coast already knit in a larger size and i wanted another one that fits better i really want the garment so but i also really want to like wearing it and you know what they say if it's bothering you now it's going to bother you when you wear it so i have a feeling i'm probably going to ripping it back anyway but i think i need to try it on first and see if it fits and if i need to make an adjustment so i'm going to rip it back anyway if i have to make adjustments i can do it then tbd i will let you know next time so that's it for garments on the needles right now um i have a mint green linen hang on it's hidden back here nope it is i promise i've got this i've got three skeins of this lace weight from small bird workshop it is a 50 linen 30 cotton twenty percent bamboo blend i love summer knits um it is very very fine so i'm gonna have to hold it double i don't know if you can see yeah there we go um i'm gonna have to hold it double and i tried to swatch yesterday using my um zings my knit pro zings and i kept dropping a strand um which doesn't bode well i might try swatching with my higher higher i'm holding it double i didn't even get as far as finishing a swatch to wash it to see what my gauge was i just kept dropping one strand of the yarn and thought this is going to be so annoying so it that's why the sabri got cast on yesterday because i finished my edie it went outside to block yesterday and i thought i have to cast on something else summer is so short around here and i want to have these great short sleeve garments that i can wear so again tbd on this one i will try to swatch it and see where i'm at i'm tempted if i can get it if if i can get the holding it double stranded gauge right i thought a ranunculus would be nice because if it's cropped that's fine i can just do my short sleeve and and then knitted as far as i go i've got three skeins of this at 660 meters so times three divided by two i've got just under a thousand meters of this so i could easily do a nice size ranunculus if i can knit it without dropping a strand okay time for a sip and moving on um no i think i'll do this one first so in this great little dolphina bag i'll link her below um this is a wine themed bag so of course i had to have it i slay all day rose is a particular favorite so this was a project i cast on to work in deborah's booth in yarn indulgence's booth and honestly i haven't worked on it since because i want to save it for working in her booth so this is using sock marl which is a um 75 sorry i'm lying it's an 80 20 superwash merino nylon blend with this great marl in there so this is the label i did something funny to the color and i started to knit um my by the shore sock pattern which is designed for this yarn it uh just moves the stripes that feather and fan just moves that moral uh kind of fun anyway so that's as far as i got on that over montreal net city weekend we were nice and busy and i was doing a lot of talking and not as much knitting apparently so that is put aside to the next time i work on her booth and the other only other sock that i have this is another long-term sock whip hold that thought i need to cast on at least two new pairs of socks i've got um lots of empty sock needles right now i only have two socks on the needles both of which are ones i'm not really working on right now um this is my movie theater sock i went to the movies for the first time um back in may i went to see downton abbey uh with my daughter first time i'd been to the movie theater since november or december 2019 and i like to knit uh just a plain tube it i've got it on a magic lube needle here purely because i stole my 2.25 millimeter 9 inch chow goo circular which is my preference for vanilla movie knitting because i can just knit around and around and around and not have to manipulate the needles anyway this is um just a 50 gram ball of reggia sock yarn that i will put contrast heels toes and cuffs it reminded me of licorice all sorts just with that that color palette anyway nothing very exciting just a vanilla tube that will eventually become gift socks for somebody because it's commercial sock yarn hand-dyed sock yarn only goes to me um knitting friends who know how to take care of it and my daughter samantha uh is knitworthy of the hand-dyed yarn everybody else that it socks for gets commercial because if they put it in the washer and the dryer or they don't hang it if they treat it badly it will stand up for them so i do a lot of opal and reggia and nitpix for commercial sock yarns for family members so the only other thing i have on the needles and again it's been abandoned for a little bit because cowl season ended and i kind of lost the will to live on it um i'm knitting it out of two of my hand spun yarns we haven't talked about spinning yet that's coming that's my fiber stash tour de fleece is coming up so that's exciting we'll talk about that um anyway so i'm knitting uh this cowl in two different hand spuns they're fingering ish i tend to run fingering sport weight for my spins again this is totally i have a color palette i have a theme i like my cool blues greens purples i'm not a fan so much of brighter reds and oranges and browns it's just not my jam so these are the yarns this is a merino silk i think and this is a merino nylon i've done socks in this yarn it's gorgeous if i do say so myself oh and this one i actually dyed the fiber i went to deborah yarn indulgences and she let me play in her die pots and i dyed some fiber to spin and then knit with okay to the project this is on a short circular so this is a cowl that has a provisional cast on and then it'll be kitchener together so this is called the heavenly peace cowl by uh becky norman bex creates i will link it below so this is basically one repeat that i've done i realized i have to do all of this all over again to get the double length cowl that i really want um and i kind of yeah no i'm done with you for now um i'll pick it up again in the fall or the winter it's it's great it's a fun project it's just some slip stitches and some striping and i love to see the way the hand spun is working up love it i i just fell out of love with it right now uh not in the mood so it will get done and i will love working on it because the yarn feels great and i love the colors just not right now so that's what's on my needles um at the minute other than the truly abandoned projects that i'm looking at now and trying not to feel guilty about as i'm thinking about casting on all of the new things but i did just finish up a spin um i am i would consider a relatively new spinner i've been spinning for three through just over three years um i had a great lesson at good vibrations which is an awesome local yarn shop in st john new brunswick on an ashford kiwi i bought it my friend and i went and we had lessons together amanda sweet skein of mine one of my knitting besties we went and had a fabulous day uh learned how to spin both bought wheels and quickly fell down a rabbit hole i have since purchased two electric spinning wheels one is the uh eew six which is this big bobbin um and my first one was the electric nano uh e wheel i love them both i also love treadling so here i am i fell down a rabbit hole hard i have three wheels technically four i bought another wheel that just happened to come with a skein winder that i wanted i might insert a picture again if there's no picture apologies i will actually show you show you in the future anyway long story long this is um just finished applying i need to skein it up and wash it and weigh it it is a merino uh silk blend i do believe from fiber imp um yeah i don't know what it'll be i'm pretty sure it's going to come up anywhere from a fingering to a sport decay i'm still struggling with consistency on my spins um my sweet spot is a three-ply sock weight fingering sport is because that's what i knit most with um i love a fingering weight i don't tend to like anything decay or worsted but they do make good gif knits and i do have a lot of decay and thicker weight when i was learning to spin that's the spinning i do have more on my wheel and tour de fleece is coming up quickly um i don't really have any firm plans for tour de fleece i'm going to be away from july 2nd to the 7th or 8th or so we're off on a little vacation my husband and i so i'm not going to take either of my wheels or any of my wheels with me sometimes i'll take my little nano with me but we're going to be doing a lot of touristing a lot of walking so i don't think i'm going to take either of my wheels with me so technically tour de fleece for me isn't really going to start until the middle of july so i might only get 10 um 10 12 days maybe maybe um tour to fleece the other thing i wanted to talk about um i got a beautiful advent calendar from amanda sweet skate of mine who is in fredericton which is about two hours away from me i've already name-dropped her once i cast on with my advent the jelly roll blanket so it's designed to be knit up in strips look at the camera nance not it yourself hello um wine wine helps everything doesn't it um okay so yeah i uh i had plans i had great plans for this blanket i'm knitting amanda's advent calendar um with nitpix stroll and the dove heather colorway is the contrast color i didn't want to do random strips but i didn't want to do another cozy memories blanket so i thought this might scratch the itch for me um i did the first couple and counted rows and the way that you pick up following strips you're picking it up on the purl bumps of the garter or the garter bumps i guess to make this ridge to look like a jelly roll quilt great i was zinging along i was really liking the way that it looked until i cast off and woven the ends on my last strip and realized i have a problem so on the right hand side is where i started and i've gone over to the left and you can see that this left gray square is a lot smaller than this right gray square i didn't count rows on my blocks i was just picking up the bumps until it changed colors and then i changed colors and knit them picked up the bumps changed colors kept going i stopped row counting that was a mistake because somewhere along the line i've gone wonky um and i don't know if i can the blanket itself is still a rectangle it's it's skewing a little bit you can kind of see with me picking it up but the the blanket itself is still rectangular it's just this top row has gotten very small i don't know if you can see you know i've gone off a considerable number of rows there kind of see the pink behind it so in order to fix it i would have to pull off the last two i'd have to rip out the last two columns for sure if not the last three columns to fix this i can't decide if i want to just in the next column start it down lower and just try to reorganize and get my row counts better to square it up so this has got put away i was kind of doing some squares every now and again through advent i did i kept up i was really pleased with myself i went through the whole color scheme of the advent um and it was lovely and it was fun and i was really enjoying it and i finished watching west side story on disney with my daughter when she came to visit and wound in the ends went oh look how pretty that is and swore heartily i'm not gonna i may swear but i'm not going to consciously swear on here um i do love a salty little language um so yeah so for right now this has gone away um i'm tempted i've i've woven in all the ends i was so good i wove in the ends as i went this is the back side i've woven in all the ends do i really want to rip it out i'm time to just rip it out and do a cozy memories but then i've got to unpick all of the ends first i don't know so i had put it on instagram not really kind of explaining i hope i've explained it well enough here um that the blanket itself isn't not square it's just the last the top bits of the blanket are no longer rectangular and the number of rows they should be it's a bit annoying and i just don't know what to do i really want to i really want the advent i want to keep using the gray and alternating but whether that's a cos memories blanket and i rip it all out or i just try and fudge this it's a blanket how much is it really going to bother me i don't know anyway that is really the last bit of knitting i'm going to show you today so next up is some dream knitting hang on i'm just going to grab some yarns and i'll be right back well my goodness i'm telling you fibs again i just looked down and found another abandoned whip but i have i have an excuse for this so my birthday was back in april i had two birthday cast ons one of which i finished and didn't bring that's okay um oh no i didn't finish it it's the sunshine coast with my other birthday cast on that is as we know problematic and need some help so i was influenced by uh sophie knits and things who's another local knitter here she cast on orbits by unwind knitwear and i thought yeah i need to get me some of that so i bought the pattern and cast on for my birthday i'm using two yarns it's a color work sweater gorgeous yolk color work i'm using sweet skin of mine [Music] colorway is being boho so it's this gorgeous pinky laven no it's a it's a pinky purpley tone i'm using that as my main body color and then i found this hand spun in my stash that has notes of that pink undertones oh gosh oh i love it love it love it and i may take this on vacation it's not summery but i don't think i care it's fingering weight so i'm in the ballpark right okay let me get untangled here and show you how far i got before i moved to summer knits because i thought i'm not gonna be wearing this until september october anyway so there's no rush so it's on a short circular but just to show you the start of this yoke oh it looks so good on camera yes yes decision made this is going on vacation with me i love it so much i love knitting with my hands spun this is a new thing for me and i'm really trying to to knit with my hand spun more but yes orbits it's been hanging out in this beautiful big blue mama basket just sitting been abandoned since the end of april so that's going to get dusted off i'll take that on vacation with me i'll have to put it in a project bag i don't think it would travel so well in a basket the other thing i need to get let's stay with garments i have this cone of holst coast which is a cotton lambswool blend it's a lace weight to fingering weight very fine very fine um it's one of these yarns that still has the spinning oils in it it's from holst i don't know if i said that um i bought this a few years ago in their black friday sale when the canadian dollar didn't suck too bad to the american because you buy it in american dollars they are in denmark i dropped it um so i've already knit my trescao in this i might put a picture if i think about it i'm making so much work for myself i don't know if i can do if i don't include the trescao what i'll do is i'll put a link to my ravelry page with pictures in the show notes down below if you get stuck that's where it'll be um anyway i have so much of this yarn left i forget how much is on there but it's 500 grams um and i have this in my stash um from yarn indulgences zed fluff called granite falls and i just happened to see these in my stash together earlier this week and thought ooh they would be a gorgeous something i have two for sure excuse my reach yeah i've got two skeins of this i have two skeins of this granite falls look in the camera nance not yourself making faces looking at myself granite falls and this host coast i think they have to be a thing um i don't know what thing they're going to be yet of course i automatically default to ranunculus with mohair because it's just such a fun sweater to knit and it's so awesome to wear um yeah this is on my radar not sure yet open suggestions if you have any kick those out of the way looking in the camera again it must be time for more wine all right next up i've got to get some socks on the needles um christmas is coming i have my lovely friend leanne leandugue on instagram i'll link her below because she does crank sock tubes to sell them you can send her your yarn she will crank sock tubes i gave her a whole bunch of commercial yarn back when we had a meet-up in may yeah it was may in may and she's going to crank me some tubes 64 stitch tubes i have some people who need 56 and 72 stitch socks so those i'm still gonna hand knit um so my son's partner um i'm on the fence between these are both nitpick hawthorns i have a specific pattern in mind i've got a new design that is in testing now um and i'd like to knit the 72 stitch in one of these this is blueberry speckles just super light speckled and then this one's a little more variegated i'm kind of really interested to see how this would knit up um this is going to wear like iron for her they have three cats and a dog and hardwood floors and they're just going to go in the washer and dryer so part of me thinks that is too light quite frankly i think it needs to be a little darker and i'm even thinking that might be too light looking at it in the mirror maybe i need to do something navy blue that's just going to show the dog and the cat hair though anyway i think i'm taking up one of these too to cast on uh basically to to knit along with my testers i've got testers uh knitting my smoke gets in your eyes sock i'm not gonna bore you with all of that i'm not on here to sell patterns i'm on here because i love knitting i love knitting podcasts and i have a lot of knitting so i thought i would just come on and share what i have the other all the thing i'm thinking is because of course i need a new pair of socks and i think they should be in this gorgeous hand spun this is a plump fingering it's a merino nylon blend um deborah of yarn indulgences you're going to get bored of hearing me say this she has a merino nylon blend in her shop um stop looking at the camera stop looking to yourself and the pretty iron look at the camera um i think these are going to have to be socks for me i don't know what pattern they might just be vanilla while we're driving so i can uh chat with my husband while he's doing all the driving uh we are off to uh quebec city uh old quebec city we were supposed to be going to europe again this year uh we've been attempting europe for three this is our fourth year and again it just didn't feel like the right time we run a small business and i just wanted to be closer and more available for staff and you just don't know where things are going to go in the world right now so we chose old quebec city for our vacation this year because we figured you couldn't get much closer to europe than old quebec city with the cobbled streets and all the historical buildings and sights and sounds i haven't been since i think i was 13 it was a school trip and my husband hasn't been since he was in his 20s in the navy so i'm pretty sure he only saw the inside of cd gross bars somewhere i'm pretty sure he did not do any of the historical and cultural things we're going to be doing yeah so this is also on the radar for me i've got this other hand spun it is not a fingering weight but oh my word when i spun up this fiber i was like i hate it it's it just it just looked yeah but look at the colors and look how it worked out this is a plump dk to worsted i'm i keep thinking i want to put it in a yolk a color work yolk but i don't knit a lot of worsted and dk weight sweaters because i find them too hot cowl i don't wear hats wear a fussy bunch i have one person in my family who wears hats it's my son and he's like no mom i've got a hat i don't need another one um yeah so this keeps jumping out of my stash at me and asking what it wants to be it's a 100 merino yeah i thought it was going to be awful i applied it up and it's stunning i love it i did this i think on last year's tour de fleece um i have had a few new things come in to my stash it is substantial it is to my right here which is why i'm looking at it and then of course look in the camera not it yourself i hope you're drinking along with me because this is going to be a drinking game i even have a post-it note i have a post-it note over the camera that says look here i might need to uh make it a little more obvious uh anyway stash i have lots um i've had a few new things come in mostly bags actually um the gorgeous margaery which is what i named her my sheep bag from eldonwood crafts came in from the uk it was a pre-order on my birthday i had to do it it arrived in may super fast service can't recommend it enough thank you emma elton woodcraft and then nora george yarns closed down and was doing a massive d stash of personal stuff and store stuff so it would have been rude not to and i got this beautiful jewels so sweet violet liberty rainbow bag i've always wanted one of these and never managed to catch the updates they go so quickly and as they should it's glorious put that back try not to spill my wine that would be tragic i also got the yellow fringe supply bag i've never had a fringe supply bag she had a yellow one i thought not my color necessarily but wow is it bright and sunshiny and beautiful so i had to have it great deal um and she was also selling some of her store yarn nora george yarns sadly no longer dying but this is her april changing seasons and my birthday is in april i'm at april baby and i thought that would be gorgeous and something for me i don't know what and then i mentioned we had a knit together um about i think there was 14 or 15 of us met outside in sussex new brunswick which is about an hour and a half from moncton it's kind of in the middle of fredericton st john and moncton which is where i we have knitting friends um and we all decided to get together and just kind of hang out we were so lucky the weather was beautiful not too hot there was a good breeze kept the bugs off of us we did a mini swap which they're already put away we also did a little exchange if you had some skeins of yarn in your stash that weren't being loved and that you knew you weren't going to knit you could bring them and exchange them so i have a lot of 100 merino or [Music] wool blends for shawls and things without nylon i knit a lot of shawls back in the day i think we all did um i have a lot of these yarns that don't have nylon i can't knit socks and them and i've got more shawls than i can shake a stick at so i took some of my they were gorgeous it was hard to hard to part with them um but they were snapped up i was happy to see but i took four skeins came back with three which was just fine um this beautiful vivid canadian dyer this is a oh it's a club color from 2016 starfish i thought that was just beautiful and totally my jam uh red sock trying to run away red sock blue sock another canadian dyer this is grasshopper and it's beautiful greens and blues again a little bit of purple there totally my jam and fleur a bomb i have never heard of this dyer and this is i think an 85 yeah this is an 85 15 um superwash merino nylon just a nice tonal really in that nice soft bluey turquoise that i love so much so that's what i had for incoming goodies recently i'm trying not to buy yarn again because i just have so much and i have a sweater quantity of silk and linen coming from uh deborah at yarn indulgences we're doing some sample knitting for her which i can't wait maybe that will be my vacation another vacation that my husband will be horrified when he sees how much knitting i'm going to be bringing we're planning on doing a lot of touristy walking walking walking um i don't know where i think i'm going to find all this time to sit and knit but it is a long drive to quebec city from moncton it's about eight hours we have an electric vehicle so we're gonna have to stop and charge which is great especially with the price of fuel right now it is june 2022 and the price of fuel has gone bananas all right cheers i've done this in a few different chunks now that i will pop together i'm not sure if i should tell you more about me or not i think i'm gonna leave that for another time because if nobody watches and nobody's interested then you don't care who i am and what i do in my daily life i also love to cross stitch into other crafts but we're not gonna fall down that rabbit hole anytime soon unless i'm desperate for content if i keep doing this um i hope this has been enjoyable for whoever is watching out there again i'm i'm doing this and joining this club because i love knitting i love the knitting community i watch knitting podcasts a lot and i've wanted to do this for a while so here i am i had makeup on i had my contact lenses in my hair is remotely kind of done my husband is out working in the garage and i had some peace and quiet and here we are i hope you are having a great day evening wherever you are in the world my motto knit sip happy i hope you enjoy yourself with all of your knitting and i will hope to see you soon cheers you
