what's up family welcome to thrive as always i want to say how excited i am for the opportunity here to hopefully add some value to you and to really connect with this community this is a different kind of community we believe in living on level three somebody just put level three in the chat if you're watching this live level three what does that mean darius simply means this we believe there are three ways you can live your life sinking surviving and thriving now watch this the bible teaches there's a season to everything so there there were seasons or maybe seasons where we feel like we're sinking there may be seasons where we feel like i'm just surviving but ultimately we know the word we want to describe the majority of our life is thriving so it's okay to be there if you're sinking that's normal we just want to make a decision we're not going to stay there it's level three yeah we believe in thriving what's that there it's what's thriving what's thriving then it's doing the best i can with the resources i have considering the season i'm in that that's it are you thriving yes i'm doing the best i can with the resources i have in the season that i'm in thriving and um man we're just we're excited about it and just man i just each week i marvel at how many of you are really serious about your growth man that's uh that is so encouraging to me and i don't know if you've heard this before but i want to share it with you because it bears repeating you don't go to the next level you grow to the next level you you don't you don't do new things you become the kind of person that's able to do new things see some people are trying to do things without becoming the kind of person that can do those things some of the things people want to do um can only be done by a person that's resilient some things people want to do can can only be done by a person who has spiritual stubbornness um right so all stubbornness isn't unhealthy see there are some things we can assume we need to eliminate and god doesn't want to eliminate them god just wants to adjust them somebody just drop in the chat real quick adjust adjust so all stubbornness isn't healthy like when you're stubborn about the right thing come on when you're stubborn about the right thing jesus talks about the the importance of stubbornness in prayer right king james used the word importunity uh other translations use the word um i'm thinking of this story where jesus gives an example of somebody who's in the house they get a knock on their door by the neighbor saying i need some bread and the person's like yo go away i'm asleep and it says because the person keeps knocking the person comes to the door and gives them what they want and jesus uses that as an analogy to point out the power of persistence in prayer not that my stubbornness or persistence will alter the will of god it won't do that but sometimes it requires persistence to accomplish the will of god that sometimes the the willingness to keep going after a thing is an indication of your faith and you and your belief that that thing belongs to you i'll know who this is for i feel this is like a prophetic moment already but somebody drop in the chat go get it that's a prophetic word for some of you who are watching this right now it's okay to be stubborn if you're stubborn about the right things don't be stubborn about our immaturity don't be stubborn about our lack of health don't be stubborn in apathy but be stubborn after dreams be stubborn with goals be stubborn with obeying god be stubborn with a refusal to compromise kingdom values so anyway um i'm excited that you're committed to growth and excited to spend our time together hopefully helping you do that and so we know watch this we know watch this you you you rise to the level of your ignorance did y'all hear what i just said we rise to the level of our ignorance people perish without for a lack of knowledge whatever area you ignorant in you suffer in ignorance is expensive so we go to the most reliable source of information in human existence that's the bible this is the creator's manual and so we go to this source of information and we use this um to help us get the accurate insight information we need to achieve a thriving life the john 10 10 life the life jesus came to give so this series we're in is on making better decisions and i'm excited about this opportunity to share with you the the second lesson in this series and i i want to talk to today in our time together about the enemies of good decisions the enemies of good decisions i want y'all to catch this family i want you to catch this i want you to catch this accomplishing anything requires overcoming enemies accomplishing anything requires overcoming any enemies there is no advancement without opposition when i say enemies i don't mean always like physical enemies i don't mean literal enemies i don't always mean haters i did a teaching a couple weeks ago called handling haters and helping you manage distractions but i i here's the point the point that i that i'm making is it is naive it is naive it is unrealistic it is illogical to expect to have kingdom advancement without satanic opposition you see that nowhere in the bible you do not see anywhere in the bible which is the book that paints a picture regarding what we can realistically expect in this world okay did y'all hear what i just said i said the bible is a book we can look at and this bible paints a picture regarding what we can realistically expect in the world expect in the world because some of the frustration that some of us have in life is because we don't properly understand what life is like did you hear that some of the frustration we have in life is because we don't accurately understand what life is like we expect life to be like what we think life should be like and god's like i gave one of the reasons i gave you the bible so that you could see what life is really like and how to navigate the life that really is versus the way you think life ought to be so like jesus the bible tells us what life is really like in the area of relationships jesus was perfect what does that mean his emotions were perfect his reactions were perfect his responses were perfect the investment he made in in people was was perfect he made the perfect kind of investment all right and he still got betrayed by judas and still got denied by peter so if jesus was perfect and he experienced betrayal it is unrealistic of us to think that we can be so good to people that our goodness causes them not to be a judas you being g and i'm using this as a metaphor because we aren't jesus but you being jesus does not make judas not be judas i'm drinking my water with my electrolytes i'm sipping on some water on that one let me put on this side did y'all hear what i just said i said jesus being jesus did not stop judas from being judas so that's realistic right there that's realistic that that's right so we can expect to go through our life like man i can be so good to people that my goodness is going to make them good and i've said this before i'll say it again your generosity does not make somebody grateful your gender right how somebody responds to your generosity is based on their character not your generosity you can be equally generous in your time talent treasure opportunities information insight whatever you can give people whatever you got you can give the same amount to two different people and one person is appreciative and another person is entitled because it is not your listen to me it is not your generosity that determines a person's response it is their character some people you bless they become grateful other people you bless they become entitled same generosity see that's that's what life is really like that's what life is really like that's that's what the bible says so if we if we set our expectations regarding what we will encounter in life based on the scriptures and not just what we think life should be like then we can embrace this principle that there is no kingdom advancement without satanic opposition that the devil never makes the right thing easy so listen to me so last week we spent some time talking about how you partner how you become co-laborers with god in building the life that god has designed for you and me we become co-laborers with god in building that life through the decisions that we make that making decisions is the equivalent of taking steps in the bible the steps of a good man are ordered by the lord he delights in his way though he falls he shall not be utterly cast down for the lord upholds him with his right hand what a step systematic in the country patterns of movement that get me from one place to another systematic left foot right foot sequential one foot after the other and your decisions must be systematic and sequential and is your decisions in life they move you from one place to another so god ordering your steps is the equivalent of god saying let me influence your decisions because that's the way you partner with me in faith every act of faith is a decision it's a decision for peter to get out of the boat and walk on water it's a decision for daniel to say i'm not going to compromise i'm going to go in the lion's den it's a decision for joshua to walk around the walls of jericho god told moses to raise his hand stretch out the staff and raise his staff search out his hand but moses had to make a decision to do it every miracle you see in the bible is on the other end of somebody making a decision come on so the decisions that we make are the way we advance and i'm telling somebody in the words of jim rome you cannot change your uh destination overnight but you can change your direction in a moment and somebody right here in some area of your life you realize you're heading down a path that you don't like here's the good news you decided to get in and you can decide to get out see that that that word right there is for the honest and the objective people people who are not trying to perpetrate a religious fraud people who are not trying to act like every single decision that i made is a perfect decision that's for people who are honest enough to own where they are i'm getting ready to get into genesis in a minute to own i'm not in the garden of eden because the decision i made yeah it's come on that's an adam and eve metaphor i'm getting ready to unpack it in a minute yeah i'm not in the garden of eden because of a decision i may yeah because of decision i'm not happy relationally because of some decisions i made i'm not where i could be financially because of some decisions i may i'm not as strong as i need to be spiritually because of some decisions i may i'm not saying it's all your decisions i'm not saying there are not circumstances beyond your control that contribute to your current condition what i am saying is this word is for some people who willing to own your part because if you can own your part in breaking it you can own your part in fixing it and i want somebody i believe in affirmations yes i do i've heard people talk all kind of talk about affirmations and this that and the other uh well the bible say uh tells us we paul told believers in corporate we have the same spirit of faith therefore we believe and we speak this is facts power life and death is in the tongue that's a fact they they love it shall eat the fruit thereof i'm gonna eat what i'm speaking meaning i'm going to internally digest the words that are coming out of my mouth that what comes out of my mouth externally affects me internally that's the word that's the word so i know some people twist it and they turn into the name and claim it blab grab it call it haul it i'm not saying that but i'm saying we should be saying what the word says we should be making affirmations that's an indication about what we believe about god's truth and if you believe in the power of your words i want you right now there's something in your life that you know needs to change i want you to drop it in this chat and i want you to put exclamation points behind it i want you to say it like you would say if we were sitting in a church building i want you to say it's getting ready to change say it's getting ready to change why you're saying it's getting ready to change not because not because you saying that is going to change things you can't control you're saying it's getting ready to change because you saying that is going to change things you can control and what can you control you can control the things that you do y'all better come get me tonight i feel a unique anointing tonight this is what i feel i feel a movement anointing meaning that god's spirit is working in a unique way not exclusively but specifically to influence and to orchestrate movement now i want somebody who understands prophetic moments that when god interrupts your regularly scheduled programming and decides i'm getting ready not just to say something i'm getting ready to do something don't you miss this i want you to put right here i want you to just put this in the chat drop move in the chat come on move move that's what i sense is breaking out that's the way i sense god's spirit now is moving on the hearts of people move things that you were stuck in stagnant in habits you couldn't break move and i'm telling you god can do it quickly move somebody just got somebody just got set free right there right from your phone god's showing you god's showing you i'm so god i'll do it through the phone did you i said god is showing you i'm so much god i'll do it through a phone i'm so much god i'll do it through a computer screen i'm so much god you think you got to be at a specific address for me to give you a breakthrough you think you got to be sitting next to somebody in a row for me to orchestrate something unusual in your life i'll do it right in your kitchen he's god i feel the holy ghost tonight back to my point let's make a hermeneutical loop here there is no satanic there is no kingdom advancement without satanic opposition so we advance through our decisions and since the beginning of time the enemy has attempted come on now the enemy has attempted to orchestrate to arrange obstacles that would inhibit us from making better decisions he does not come on my decisions your decisions are the way we partner with god in accomplishing god's will for our life but the enemy does not want you and me listen to me he does not want you and me to partner with god through our decisions so he he attempt this he he attempts to orchestrate obstacles that inhibit us from doing so we see this we see this law first mentioned in genesis chapter three guys adam and eve are in the garden of eden and god has given them instruction i taught you this last week he has given them the ability to choose and then he's told them how to choose and it ain't hard in the garden he says everything in here is yours except for one so it's like you you can touch you can freely eat everything in here just don't bother that one so it's it's like one thing so the only decision they had to make is not to eat from that tree here's the point the point is there's an enemy and in genesis chapter number 3 verse 1 it says now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field the lord god had made so he's see here's the thing i think very often when we when we when we uh think or use like satanic imagery we think of the devil as strong he's not strong he's sneaky he's sneaky so he's in look at this look at this y'all because i want you to see how this works because bad decisions don't always show up looking like bad decisions listen to me excuse me evil influences don't always show up looking like evil influences because what i'm getting ready to to do is is i'm getting ready to show you how the enemy how god wants to influence our decisions that lead to our advancement and our development but the enemy also wants to influence our decisions that lead to self-sabotaging self-destruction the enemy cannot destroy you put in the chat the devil can't destroy me put that in the chat he cannot he can only influence you to make decisions that destroy yourself he can't destroy your relationship he can only influence one of you or both of you to make decisions that lead to the destruction of it gosh that should be liberating that should be empowering that should be exciting that should give us some zeal and some vitality and some zest come on that should cause us to feel turned up a little bit he can't the only thing he can do is try to get me to do it he can't do it god almighty so watch this if you're in a garden would you be surprised to see a snake i wouldn't i'd be surprised to see a snake in a gym got me i wouldn't be surprised to see a snake in a garden come on people because the devil don't always show up looking like the devil evil influences don't always show up looking evil you wouldn't look at a snake in a garden and say that's not that you you don't want it to be there but you would say it's out of the ordinary for snake to be there he's crafty and what does he do he tries to to influence and ends up successfully influencing their decisions now i don't have time to deal with all of this but one one of one of his we see one of the first tactics he employs is as he said to the woman did god actually say you shall not eat of any tree in the garden so his first step is to get her to question the legitimacy of god's word or her interpretation of it here's the point that that's a that's that's something completely different because that's an act of spiritual warfare that is an act of spiritual warfare the enemy attempting to get us to to doubt the validity of god's word and this look at the picture the devil paints god's oppressing you god's limiting you god's boxing you in and do you know how many people have fell victim to that scheme of satan have people use god's word to oppress people yes people used god's word to condone slavery people use god's word to oppress women people use god's word listen people use god's word and use god's word for all types of stuff and so the enemy wants to highlight those abuses and those misuses and cause us to think that the mis uses are conflict are the equivalent of the actual use no that ain't it that ain't it fam that's not it and so they all you know they're oppressing you you you can't live your life and you can't be yourself i'm getting ready to show you this in a minute but god's restrictions were his protection he didn't tell them not to touch that tree because it would hurt him he told them that tree not touch that tree because it would hurt them all right here it is here's the point satan says to eve he says uh god knows when you eat this your eyes will be open you'll be like god knowing good and evil and watch what the bible says guys it says when the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food pleasing to the eyes and desirable for gaining wisdom she took some and ate it she gave it to her husband who was with her and he ate it so you see a bad decision here right okay so adam and eve get kicked out of the garden of eden which is representative of they are no longer in the place god intended for them to be so eden whether you believe in it literally or metaphorically that's not that's that's a new point when it comes to the point i'm getting ready to make uh metaphorically for us it represents kind of the place god wants us to be in the state god's desired and divine design for us right his intended in his preferred present for you and me so eden represented unbroken communion and fellowship with him thriving flourishing so they get kicked out of that place they exist they're just not in that blessed place and it's not the devil fault and it's not god's fault it's their fault because they made a decision do you know god has given you the ability to decide to not be blessed somebody put in the chat right now go get him go get him go get pd right now we all want tonight listen you can decide to not be blessed what did the enemy do he influenced their decision and i can see in the text three things that in some way he will always use to try to influence you and i to make decisions that get us out of place i'm getting ready to expose them tonight somebody put in the chat show me show me because i'm sick and tired of his schemes i'm sick and tired of being not being in the place i know i'm supposed to be in is there anybody i'm talking to tonight you just sense you just feel there's a place i'm supposed to be in man i'm i'm not i'm not in that place i'm not in that place i'm there's a place i'm supposed to be in and i know i'm not there listen to me i want you to miss this there are three things now i'm gonna show you these three things in the text but i want you to see where i'm getting the language from in john's epistle 1st john 2 this is what verse 16 to 17 says verse 16 says for everything in the world the lust of the flesh the lust of the eyes and the pride of life comes not from the father but from the world imma say it again for everything in the world the lust of the flesh the lust of the eyes and the pride of life comes not from the father but from the world here it is guys these are the three enemies of good decisions remember religion takes the simple and makes it complex jesus takes the complex and makes it simple old covenant 613 commandments first 10 10 commandments decalogue new covenant 2 love god love neighbor jesus said you get the 2 right that's all 613. he takes the complex and makes it simple so it's like oh man if i'm going to make good decisions i got to get over procrastination i got to get over impulsing this i got to get over imposter syndrome i got to get over indecisiveness yep you do but all of that is fruit it's not root so when you deal with impulsiveness when you deal with indecisiveness that's that's fruit all you're doing is picking fruit from a tree that's going to grow back what the holy spirit's getting ready to show us today is the root how many want to know the root it's just three roots at the root of every bad decision is one or some of these or all of these three i see it right in the text okay lust of the flesh lust of the eyes proud of life here it is let's go to verse six i'm going to show you the first one verse 6 genesis 3 we see it with adam and we see we eat it says when the woman saw that the tree was good for food see-saw that's the lust of the eyes do y'all see that if you see that put i see it come on come on put i see if you see that put i see it now when we hear the word lust many many people associate lust with sex or sexual desire but lust is a word and it's it's often used to describe sexual desire but lust at its core simply means desire longing appetite to be consumed with got me so i want you to catch this this is one enemy of bad decisions that is incredibly important that we pay attention to it is the lust of the eyes i call it perverted perception we can't decide right if we're seeing wrong and sometimes what we see come on here come on here what we see creates on the inside of us a false sense of dissatisfaction and the and the dissatisfaction then drives us to make decisions that end up being detrimental for you and for me like there are times where people are making decisions in their marriage based off what they saw in somebody else's and people are making decisions in their business based on what they saw in somebody else's are making decisions in their life based off what they saw in somebody else's life so there's the comparison trap there is the jealousy and envy that we talked about a couple of weeks ago that's all created through what's happening with this eye gate it's the lust of the eyes come on here a lot of bad financial decisions are a result of the root lust of the eye come on here some bad relational decisions at the root lust of the eyes the enemy wants to pers pervert your perception to cause you watch this the only thing eve looked at at the moment was the tree she couldn't have the enemy took her focus off of all the trees she did have y'all better hear me did you catch that the only thing eve focused on in that moment was the tree she could not have that's the only thing she saw but she had to block out all of the trees she could have and that's what perverted perception does instead of being grateful for all of the trees she could have she became dissatisfied because of the one tree she couldn't and let me just pause and just remind somebody i'm not making light of your situation i'm not acting as as if you are not going through a season or struggle or a time filled with trials but i just feel like i need to remind you you blessed if we were in a church service i would tell you to high-five somebody and tell them i'm blessed i'm i'm blessed i'm blessed and thank you holy spirit for using thrive to remind me that i'm blessed i'm sitting here tripping about the tree i don't have when the enemy has perverted my perception and i'm not seeing all of the trees that i do have i'm tripping about the one thing god hadn't done yet emphasis on yet and i am not as appreciative for the things he's already done it's the lust of the eyes that drives so many decisions i hope this is helping all right here's the second one i see i see this with eve and i see this with adam here it is the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye lust of the eye good for food pleasing to the eye good for food pleasing into the eye that good for food that's the lust of the flesh it's good for food y'all see i've switched the order up a little bit but it's the order it's in and john first john 2 is actually orders in in the text it's less of the flesh first then lust of the eye but i went to the eyes first but here it is there but there's lust of the flesh so lust of the eyes is perverted perception lust of the flesh is disordered desires another way of putting is like deceptive desires like you know deceptive desire dr what's that well here it is jeremiah says watch this the heart is deceitful that says deceitfully wicked who can know it watch this so when people say the lord knows my heart i say right god does you don't god knows my heart i don't i know some of my heart i don't know all of my heart you know some of your heart you don't know all of your heart because our hearts are speaking to our emotional realm isn't perfect so when you say i'm not perfect that doesn't mean you're not perfect in some areas that means that's not an area in our life where we're perfect including our emotional realm so that means my emotions aren't perfect so i feel things i shouldn't feel and so do you the feelings are real but that don't mean that they're right sometimes sometimes you feel fear when you have nothing to be afraid of god is with you sometimes we feel worry and we shouldn't feel that here is my point my good people the hearts deceitfully deceptive deceptive desires come on guys come on the heart's deceitful it deceives you it will have you feeling stuff that you think is so right it'll have us feeling stuff and then when we come back around to a place of wisdom we look back at that and we're like how did i feel that was so right let me give it to you this thrive we're a family so we can keep it real how did i feel like they were so right is these deceptive desires and sometimes we make bad decisions because in the moment we really want something that's right that feels right but it's actually wrong now i'm getting ready i'm getting ready to go somewhere with this and i'm not i'm not backing down so everybody breathe because i think at least if you're a regular to this ministry then you understand my my assignment my sense of calling because i'm not just trying to transmit information i feel like part of my job is to help catalyze transformations and that is something that requires a different degree of candor and so people who can't handle radical candor not dishonor not disrespect but people who cannot handle radical candor or people who just probably don't do well with a teaching ministry like mine yeah i i have to when you're trying to help people change you can't like there can't be topics you don't touch you got to touch it can't be stuffy i'm just going to leave that alone stuff that is key to people's transformation you got to touch it now i want to give you a very practical example of the way some of this uh some of these deceptive desires are playing themselves out in contemporary culture when i say contemporary culture i'm talking about contemporary christian culture i'm not critiquing worldly culture i'm talking about christian culture here it is the desire it is what i call christian clout chasing i said it and i meant it it is a desire for fame and influence that's not really being driven by a desire to impact people it's a love of lights not a love of people see i'm go yep that's a deceptive desire because that's what happened with eve it's like you got all of this but i want i want more i want more i want the one tree i don't have i want more i want more i want more i want more i want more not realizing that more will never feel like more help me please somebody god's calling me to god's calling me too god's calling me to god's calling me too guys listen to this pivot i'm getting ready to make in this season of my life this thrive so i'm just we're going to keep it real um this is the pivot i'm getting ready to make in um in literally in this season in my life it's like the the the older i get and the longer i'm in this the more i try to align my business and the more i try to align the churches that i serve with jesus's leadership model and not just the contemporary or historic models of leadership i've seen in the church it's like at this point it's jesus for me yeah i'm with him i'm i'm i'm with him at this point right so unless something's blatantly unbiblical i can't tell people what they um what god's telling them to do or not um but if if god if they say i'm a spiritual voice of influence in their life and i'm at the point now where people are sharing me yeah i won't i want that i'm at the point now where i feel like it's my job it's like hey that's between you and god my job is to ask you now why tell me why i don't reach more people with what i want to reach more people are you getting better no you just want to be known because if you're serious about helping more people you get better is that too spicy huh is is is that is is that too spicy to say better before bigger is that too spicy to say get good before known that god actually cares about how well i'm able to steward the influence he's given me anyway their their disordered desires guys and some of our decisions it's it's because like emotionally we're feeling these things and many of us are making these decisions in isolation because many of us don't have the kind of mature kingdom community around us that can ask us those hard questions i feel like i'm supposed to leave my job all right hey there are times where god calls you to step out the boat but let's why and sometimes when you get to the root of that you'll see oh this isn't really a call to go somewhere else it's just frustration with where i am disorder desires people make disorder desires deceptive desires guys can show up in all sorts of when a person is like when a person when you're making decisions that you know you aren't when we're making decisions we know we aren't wise to please people and that's one of the things i have to help servant oriented leaders wrap their head around is something i had to learn as a leader the difference between pleasing people and serving them because sometimes to serve them you can't please them god called you to serve not please hopefully they are pleased with your service but jesus said watch the feet to serve hiya not to please jesus said the son of man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many but here's my point deceptive desires how many decisions have you made that you know were not best for you but they please somebody you love loved or liked bad decisions i've done that so much and at the root it's a disordered desire it's a deceptive desire so lust of the flesh lust the eyes the lust of the eyes lust of the flesh um lord i i got i got to quit it's just so much i'm seeing it's just like i'm getting these downloads as i'm speaking to you um i could go so far as to say i can show you in the book of timothy where paul says eve was deceived adam wasn't so if adam wasn't deceived why did he eat to please eve come on no oh you you you you don't believe me uh you don't believe me it's it's all right it's all right i got bible here it is uh first timothy chapter number two verse number 14. oh here it is i got bible now first timothy chapter number two adam was not the one deceived it was the woman who was deceived now some people who misinterpret the bible take that and try to i don't know how people do some stuff that don't it just it's like it's not just theologically it doesn't make sense logically it doesn't make sense i don't know how somebody would take one example like that and then form a whole doctrine that women are intellectually inferior to men that's just dumb to me like i don't even know any other word to use it that don't even make sense you're gonna take the anyway that's my soapbox but that's that's like bible you i don't know why i'm talking about that that's that's my bible you program my next one on my launch uh i think i just finished something called the school of the bible when i do my next one i don't know when it is because i know you're about to put in the chat when is it i don't know i got a lot of stuff coming down the pipes up i don't know but my next one's going to be a school of theology um and it's theology for the common person so i uh because i want i want people to be able to understand stuff like that like um they're people who i've heard people preach this and it doesn't mean that they're heretics it doesn't mean they're right i'm wrong it just means we don't agree i've heard people preach things and say things like um the bible says whosoever find a wife find a good thing that means the man supposed to like you know pursue me it's like well if you have a personal value system that says i don't make moves i i want to be pursued there ain't nothing wrong with that but a woman not wrong if she says i'm going to in a my own way make it known i'm interested in the like there are people literally the emphasis isn't on the man doing the finding the text says whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing it's saying that a wife is a good thing that's what he's saying it's not saying it's not given a blueprint for who initiates interest in a relationship i've been married over two decades my wife approached me one wife all my see so it's people forming a whole doctrine on sentence structure how do you form an entire doctrine about relational pursuit based on the structure of a sentence if you're a person that says i don't initiate relationships there's your wife did that i don't do that there's nothing wrong with that but you can't say somebody who does something different is unbiblical based on sentence structure and this sentence structure after it's been translated and then transliterated to english so you don't even know the structure of the sentence it's in proverbs so it's in hebrew so you don't even know the structure of the sentence in hebrew so we're forming a whole doctrine about relational pursuit on sentence structure of something that's been translated and transliterated that's why i got to do a bible you so i can get this off my chest because that has nothing to do with what i'm talking about right now at all here's my point if eve was not if adam was not deceived why did he do it to please eve disordered desire and how many times have we made decisions we know that weren't best to please people we love i'm out i'm out of time i've been with you way too long here it is lust of the flesh lust of the eyes proud of life the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food lust of the flesh pleasing to the eye lust of the eye and also desirable for gaining wisdom what what dr dares what does that have to do with anything well here's the thing remember i just read to you in verse 5 satan said god knows when you eat of it your eyes will be open and you'll be like him here's what's scary guys pride of life over estimate not uh it's it's overestimating your value is overestimating our value because we've underestimated our value there's what do you mean satan never told her she would be god satan told her she would be like god right okay i want to read something to you in the same book of the bible genesis 1 26 then god said let us make mankind in our image in our likeness wait a minute so in genesis 3 satan is telling eve you'll be like god but in genesis 1 26 the bible tells us they were made in his likeness so that she was already like him so because she so because she was underestimating her value she tried to overestimate her value am i making sense here she the enemy deceived her into making a decision to become something she already was she was eating the fruit trying to get something she already had and there are times where we make decisions guys come on come on we make decisions the pride of life we we make decisions uh under the influence of pride to a degree because we have not properly estimated our value as a son or daughter of god pride is always an expression of insecurity pride is not root pride is fruit wherever you see somebody playing big they small did you hear what i just said whenever you see people playing big they small ooh glory i feel something on this tonight and the enemy has been using my god he has been using lust of the eyes lust of the flesh and the pride of life to influence us to make decisions that are self-sabotaging but i am telling you your days of self-sabotage are coming to an end you are getting wiser more strategic in your decision-making i just speak that over your life in jesus name if we can overcome these enemies we can experience advancement i don't know about you i'm ready to make some good decisions i'm ready to make some good decisions i'm ready to make some good ones i'm ready to make some good ones believe you are too and i'm getting ready to pray this over you um i want you to see something in the text the enemy is trying to influence adam and eve not to obey god not to do what god had said and he does that with you and me he does it to us every single day and i think he does it even when it comes to times like uh like we create space at the end of a teaching like this for people to respond with generosity we believe in a in a biblical principle of sowing and reaping and we believe in this because specifically because in the new testament the apostle paul went right into believers in corinth about a special offering he wasn't talking about their regular giving to the local assembly he uses agricultural analogy to describe their acts of generosity like he he you they they were an agrarian society so he used agriculture to help them understand the way god saw their generosity and listen to me here's what the bible says paul says all right hey if you sow sparingly you respawn if you sow bountifully you read bountifully whatever here's the best part of that to me and god i'm not god god be trying not to i'd be about to go in be real for me and god hmm i live this will cause all grace to abound toward you that you will always have all sufficiency in all things somebody put in the chat right now i receive put yo come on i receive we say we receive we're not talking about i receive a check you know i receive you know i received not having to pay people money i told him i was going to pay no i'm not when i say i receive you say i receive that word you can read what you don't receive as truth he whom the son says free is free indeed you can read it but i want you oh i receive that i receive that as truth for my life this is what it says and god will make all grace abound to you second corinthians 9 in all areas that you'll have all sufficiency in all things what's grace undeserved favor come on see he says i'll i'll make favor see here's the harvest you get from a seed guys favor the money's not the harvest the money if you get like if you get a financial blessing then that's just evidence guys that's evidence of the harvest that's not the harvest the harvest is the favor that's on my life and the favor says you know what because i can trust you to be a person that is a instrument that i can use to get things through what i'm gonna do is i'mma cause favor to abound toward you so you'll have an abundance of favor some people are trying to get an abundance of of i don't know fame abundance of finances and gaza i'ma give you an abundance of favor and the favor you have is going to make sure you always have what you need everywhere but you know what the enemy wants to do he wants to do to you and me when it comes to generosity what he did to eve now did god really do he really mean when he said give and it shall be given did he really mean [Music] no don't let the enemy choke you in this area good decisions with finances don't end with but begin with a god first lifestyle that i am generous to the to the god who is using people in ministries to add value to my life in a way that makes my life better each week many of you all over the world respond and we're giving you a space to do that right now that lord third is
