[Applause] well there's the lineup for the first part of it of the 3000 steeplechase the first big steeplechase race of the season the top athletes will be coming on the second page chamos certainly chet karui assafa and of course the pace will be um from nyambura also kenya a bit more about her in a moment and they have asked for a very fast pace at 302 for the first thousand but i have to say to you that uh talking to them over here chairmoss actually asked for more she wanted it much quicker than that the world lead is 9 35 72 by higginson of the united states that should go surely but 9 15 81 there's chamos and a sephir [Music] surely feature in this race the olympic bronze medalist in 2012 bronze medalist in the world was a sephir and then cheb karui the tall figure is in very good form indeed at the moment we're told in training and uh she was the world championship silver medalist last year there's nader the first five incidentally from the world championships here in this race so it'll it's the first big one as i said of the season and all three medalists from the world championships are here within those five so one or two here for experience and one or two here for records that's absolutely clear but whether they go with it we'll see sometimes i did ask specially who would ask for it and they said chimos but we'll see and chemos and chamos are come from the same stable and so does uh chip karui incidentally and cheb karui um a tall figure also one would expect her to feature as a silver medalist in the olympic games but we've got to make sure that this pace is right and quite frankly they ask for faster pace and at the moment they're not really looking too much like it emma coburn of the united states is in third place uh behind emma copeland emma coben in second place or actually in first place in the race isn't she ahead of uh the uh chairmas and the rest all just uh sitting in nicely at the moment there's not much pushing on at the moment ah there goes chairman or rather the niyambura trying to encourage it along a little bit tim but i'm not sure who asks for these uh uh times to be run we'll get a thousand meter time you know it's annoying when somebody in the field asks for a very quick pace it's usually one of the main protagonists because they're really the only athletes that can do so and then they don't pick up on it and it really it's a nasty trick to play on the rest of the field if you're not going to go with a quick pace but you request it don't request it in the first place there's chamos with very very short hair right in the middle of that pack no intention whatsoever going with this pace and coburn has gone with it let's hope she can build up a substantial lead here before the pacemaker drops out she's a good athlete coburn 923 performer finest in the uh olympic games in 2012 the pack well you could actually throw a blanket over them i mean admittedly a big blanket yeah cemos is there you can see uh um asefa there in that uh group and right on the outside chip but but the lead is what 50 or 60 meters now it's got to be 40 50 meters at least they're not making any headway at all and the crowd are now beginning to get behind the australian because at the american rather this is quite some she was 9th at the olympics in 2012 you don't mess with someone who makes the olympic final and really goes for it and if they're gonna close down they've got they've got a lot to do i'll tell you they've got an awful lot to do and unless there's a mishap on a barrier but she hurdles well good technique they have got to be 60 or 70 meters down now and really this is this would be quite a sensational result for this girl it's it's so good to see because the africans have really not taken her seriously and my goodness me they must have thought well we can pull her back any time but uh not so i'm afraid i wonder if they thought she was a pacemaker stuart because frankly they've let it go she's still 65 70 meters in the lead they're not going to catch her now shortly unless she has a disaster on the final lap this is going to be one of the great shots of the season so far well this could be one of those races when i say i'm really not concerned who comes second because with one lap to go this american has led the race right the way through they're concentrating on the second group but my goodness me they've got to be sprinters of some considerable consequence they really have they are now 13 and a half seconds behind the american going into the back straight now with just less than 300 meters to go there's a chase on but there's a long long way to go cobar and then down the back straight halfway down the back straight the rest of them going through the 1500 meter mark now they're just beginning to close the sprint is on but stuart coburn's got this sonar 200 meters to run and she can put together about a 68 second uh sorry a 308 final kilometer she's going to run a pr here 6 15 at 2k remember she was 12 and a half seconds to the good at the bell and uh koban negotiates that final water jump fabulous to see yeah it is and we've got uh yellow and uh chasing but uh my goodness me they'll now know what their problems were i don't know if they thought she was a pacemaker or what was going through their minds but she is going to win this by 30 35 40 meters and the coburn striding for the lion yeah and a brilliant time two for her brilliant run well done to her and uh it's a a yelu and a safer coming in and a personal best of course for a young woman who got away at the start said i'm going to run my own race ran it and look what she did she destroyed what one would consider on paper to be the very best look at chamos just coming across the line all the things that were said about chamos were chasing uh records you know that is quite incredible the the meeting record was set by chamos in 2012 at nine fifteen eighty one and i tell you what a lot of credit to emma coburn brilliant brilliant run as the rest come in let's just talk about the woman who won this the olympic finalist world championship finalist in 2011 just ninth in the olympics of course she's in crested colorado coached by mark wetmore and my goodness me he must be pleased as the chinese athlete comes in but uh what a performance sorry to talk over pictures at the moment but the story was at the front with an american emma koban who dismissed and i do mean dismiss the rest of the field as soon as the gun went fabulous and she looked to me very in control there was no sign of stress she wasn't tying up she was striding away off the final barrier 9 19.8 for the fastest time in the world this year it's not a us record by the way that still belongs to jenny simpson who was a good second in the 1500 meter meters tonight simpson's a us record 912 but that's a good solid realistic target i would say foreign over the coming months because uh that was a very strong run and stuart let's not forget the entire second half of the race if not more all on her own no company absolutely they couldn't make any headway towards a world leading time of course because i said to you that uh world lead time is pretty weak by uh ashley higginson forgive me for saying that ashley if you're watching but 9 35 72 has just been taken apart you
