the golden games here in california continue and on track now is the xfinity women's 100 meter final and we told you at the top of the broadcast that shakira richardson was spectacular earlier today in her heat race running 10 70 uh 1074. uh i stand corrected she has run 1072 this year though and when she ran the 1072 people said there's no way there's no way in april you run 1072. well she backed up with 10 74 in the heat stares javian oliver who also won her heat she will start out of lane four so while she is in lane four uh in lane six is brianna williams and you've heard us uh say this before on nbc sports uh track and field broadcast uh we have to disclose that brianna williams coach is our very own atto bolden so uh coach very quickly how did you like her heat run wow 1109 or second race of the year she looked good i spoke to her in between she said full of confidence and more to come so we'll see she's going to be tested because the young lady to her right there with the blue hair shakira richardson i think is getting ready to run something we have not seen on u.s soil for 33 years i asked you earlier today offer who does she remind you of what who is she a blend of you said she's a blend of a little bit of flojo a little bit of gail divas and then a lot of her own yeah of course and they keep calling them up for some reason shakira has um what has become her signature hair color and nails she she says it helps her just express herself she likes to have a bit of fun with it different hair colors at different meats she said sometimes i wear red because if i'm in an aggressive mood bla i have black hair it kind of calms me down if i need to chill out i'm not sure what the blue represents they put you this way if she runs what i think she's about to run you may say you may see blue hair for the rest of the year she may not ever go away from it when she turned professional things didn't actually go her way immediately uh you know missed the team to worlds and you know the the the projected career path didn't immediately happen but boy is it happening right now she said this is my year watch out xfinity women's 100 lane seven third from the left of your screen is shakiri richardson as she builds to speed and what is that time going to be shakira richardson 10.74 10.78 this time she wins here at the golden games in mount sac and just slightly slower than what she ran in her heat is she upset at 10.78 oh the wind switched on them she just ran 10.77 into a minus 1.2 meter per second wind so she that would have been 10-6 today and i think that's what she's just figured out that yeah you just ran that fast into a headwind she's over here in lane seven brianna williams next to her got a good start but shakiri didn't take long to catch and pass her and now she is all by herself just bouncing down the track 10 7 7 into this sort of a headwind means that she is well on coursely for a 10-6 the next time she gets a tailwind and another good run from jvn oliver as well jvn as we show you the results finished in second over brianna williams with that 11 15 but all by herself 10 77 shakira richardson louis it has been a wonderful day and exciting times for the future absolutely and shakira is trying to catch her breath as she stands up you walked over here she carried you look disappointed tell me why step on up to the mic there definitely was expected a different time a different execution just given a circumstance having to reset multiple times um but at the end of the day there's no excuse executed a fine race i walked away you know with the dub so i have no i'm not disappointed if it'll help you a little bit i don't mention to everybody you were running again a 1.2 negative win so it probably was a 10-6 somewhere in that area but the time didn't show because of the win does that help a little bit does it help you feel like you did do something closer to what you expected i mean even with that comment honestly i don't use anything as an excuse right so um like i said i'm happy what i did today but then today i know i can do better so just wait for another the next race another opportunity to do so it seems as though you're trying to knock on the door of history and it's going to come somewhere is that in your mind and maybe the olympic trials could that be the place whenever it comes it comes but most definitely wanting to make history i wanted to let everybody know every time i step on the track it's got to be history made every time i step on the track it's going to be an unbelievable presentation and just for everybody to keep their eyes open and just let everybody know i think we're not done yet we will keep our eyes open and we will not blink we'll see you at the trials thank you happy mother's day you
