what's going on everyone dotsgaming here and today i'm bringing you guys the updated 2021 version of the elder scrolls online complete beginner guide and now this is updated for the blackwood patch now this does cover the entire game i know every year i get some questions about saying oh does this guide only cover blackwood no this guide covers the entirety of the elder scrolls online game everything you could possibly want to know to get started eso doesn't necessarily do the best job at showing new players a lot of the systems and how the game works so i like to make this guide like i said to showcase those things to newer players and help make their starting days of eso a lot easier now i know this guide is incredibly long but treat it as like an encyclopedia a game guy that you can come back and refer to whenever you have questions about a certain part of the game or sections because that's what the timestamps in the description are for so you can come back look through the list of things you want to know about click that and then watch that section or if you're downloading the game right now and you just want to learn everything the game's got to offer you can feel free if you are so brave to watch this feature-like film all the way through but without further ado guys let's dive into this year's eso complete beginner guide eso runs off of a buy to play model simply buy the game and you are good to go eso does do four content releases every year though three dlcs which are smaller content releases as well as their big chapter which blackwood is for example which is their bigger content release now the dlcs that come out every year are actually included in your eso plus membership that's the premium membership that you can buy for 15 a month that'll go into a little bit more in depth in the next section but the dlcs are included in that membership while the chapters are not you do have to repurchase them every single year now there is a bunch of different editions out for eso right now and in the past eso's done a really poor job at showing how to actually purchase the game but it did a lot better job explaining it this year eso can be purchased on playstation xbox or pc however i will say that if you do buy the game on pc i do highly recommend going through the eso store directly and i don't think it's necessary to add the extra layer via steam because that is just another point of failure for the game to potentially have problems now if you scroll down here you can see all of the different uh features like the extra pre-purchase things i'm recording this before blackwood is released that you would get um but if you want to compare the different editions you can come down here and take a look so the blackwood collector's edition i'll just ignore the pre-purchase items because when this comes out this will obviously be gone the blackwood collectors edition will come out with these the collector's addition bonus items as well as all of the previous chapters in the base game as well as obviously blackwood the blackwood collection will ignore the collector's edition items but then give you everything else the blackwood ce upgrade is if you already own the eso base game and just want to upgrade your current account so you would simply purchase this if you want the collector's edition items and to upgrade then the regular blackwood upgrade would be for if you don't want the collector's edition items to want to upgrade your account and then the base game which is the standard edition just simply includes morrowind and the base game now something to consider though when you are actually buying the elder scrolls online previous chapters do end up becoming like labeled as dlcs in the eyes of the premium membership so if you're not sure how you're feeling about eso and like you're not sure how much you would like it i definitely recommend just buying the cheapest version the elder scrolls online standard edition and then if you end up liking it you could always just purchase the blackwood upgrade separately and then subscribing to eso plus would give you all of the previous expansions however if you want to jump into the new content you're like dots i want to really give this game a try and really want to see everything it has to offer you could just simply buy the blackwood collection which will give you literally everything uh from the past and then if you end up liking the game and you want to subscribe the subscription will again give you all those past dlcs because you'll technically already have these um expansions these previous expansions on your account and that is how it works when you actually purchase these things because you can purchase them off the micro transaction store which i'm going to cover in the next section they are tied to your account because sometimes people go oh if i sub for a month i'll get all these chapters and then i'll unsub i got them but no that's not how it works you only gain access to those while your sub is active but if you spend the crowns that you get which is the micro transaction currency on these things that you'll still have them on your account when your membership expires but again i'm gonna expand on that in this upcoming section the next thing that i want to cover is the eso plus membership as well as the crown store now eso plus is the games premium membership and you get access to a bunch of additional rewards from having this membership so like i mentioned in that first section you get access to all previously released dlc which is the smaller releases that come out throughout the year you also do get the equivalent number of crowns which is the in-game currency for your purchase so for example you're spending 15 a month on eso plus you would also get 15 worth of crowns every single month you get access to exclusive deals for eso plus members you get the almighty craft bag the big thing with eso plus like the biggest benefit of it is inventory management without eso plus your inventory management is kind of a huge pain in the butt i do have a guide on my youtube channel though called tata manager inventory without eso plus if you are so inclined but honestly to get the most out of your eso experience the craft bag is a huge quality of life item because it basically gives you an infinite storage bag for all crafting items and without that they really do clog up your inventory space you also do get double bank storage for your account bank space and this game is account wide so this will double that storage you also get increased progression for bonus experience crafting inspiration which is basically crafting experience trait research which i'll go over in a later section of the video as well as gold acquisition you also can put double the number of allowable items in your player house i will go over player housing again later as well as transmutations crystals because you do get a double the cap for those as well and then you do get the ability to also die costumes now basically what a costume is is like what i have is just like this is the way that my armor looks but i could put on a costume that basically overrides the way that all of the armor looks and i can also dye those but without that i wouldn't be able to um so that is what you get from actually having eso plus but in terms of the actual crown store itself most of the stuff on the crown store is completely cosmetic they have a lot of mounts on here too they do have some utility items like you can buy some like poisons and potions but they're not better than the stuff that you could already get in the game uh you can also get experience scrolls that give you increased experience gain for a number of hours um but thankfully i don't think there's anything too terribly paid to win on the crown store uh again the biggest thing that i would say like the biggest benefit from having eso plus and purchasing all this stuff is definitely going to be that inventory management stuff but people do always ask me what are the best things to buy with my crowns on the crown shop now i personally recommend um there are some basically like npcs that you get to give you um things throughout your adventure so like basically i recommend buying this guy his name is tiffis he is a mobile banker so you could basically have your bank access anywhere in the world you can also get a um a traveling merchant so that if you would like to dump your like junk items off of your character into a vendor without having to go back to a town you can do that with her as well um you i can also definitely recommend some account upgrades that you can get here too you can upgrade to get unlock the imperial race which is here on the crown store there's also a couple of classes on this crown store as well for example the necromancer class is purchased through the store as well as the warden class is also purchased through the store and then the final pack if i can find where that is the adventurer's pack is really really helpful i don't know where that is though jk eso boomer moment it is now called any race any alliance this is another really good account upgrade that lets you play any race on any alliance because without that you can only play specific races that are on specific factions so i highly recommend all of that the things that i mentioned here because they're all account wide upgrades past that you can obviously buy what you want but those are some of the biggest upgrades that i recommend sinking your crowns into the next section that i'm going to cover is the factions and races in eso so eso is a tri-faction game but thankfully the thing is with the factions in this game they only have restrictions inside of the world pvp area of cyrodiil otherwise it doesn't matter what faction you play on you can still group up together for like battlegrounds dungeons quests whatever you want to do the only restrictions that the factions actually have are in that like i said that open worlds pvp area but the three factions are going to be the daggerfall covenant which is the blue faction the aldmeri dominion which is the yellow faction and then the ebonheart pact which is the red faction there are also different races that correspond to the different factions with one neutral race but do keep in mind that if you have the um any race any alliance pack as you can see you can do just that play any race on any alliance but going through the actual races for the different factions you have starting with the daggerfall covenant you have the bretton you have the orc and you have the red guard for the aldmeri dominion you have the high elf the what elf and the khajiit and then for the ebonheart pact you have the argonian the dark elf and the nord now the neutral faction that lazar mentioned in the previous section is purchased through the crown store is the imperial even without the any race any alliance pack you can play the imperial on any faction that you want so just something to keep in mind but with going into the next session we will also discover what classes you are able to play and thankfully any race can play any class now one thing that people do tend to ask me is what is the best race for each role now i'm going to explain this later on in the video but i'm going to just kind of give you like a small look into how character builds work because the thing is picking the right race in eso is very important now certain races are better for certain things so there are physical damage dealers in eso which are known as stamina characters you also have magical damage dealers which are known as magicka characters and then you have tanks and you have healers now some of the better races for these things in terms of magical damage dealers bretton is really good for magicka so is high elf um so is a dark elf and then also you could potentially go by with argonian and khajiit in terms of stamina base races your red guard is really really good as is the orc wood elf and khajiit are both good for stamina as well also followed up by the dark elf and the nord for your tank races nord is really good imperial is fantastic argonian is also a solid option but if you do play on the daggerfall coven or the aldmeri dominion you could pass with the khajiit as well as the red guard finally the healing races that i recommend are definitely going to be the bretton followed by you could do high up or khajiit for the dominion and then you're going to want to go with the argonian for the ebonheart pact now i just wanted to give you guys a really quick overview here in this complete beginner guide without getting into the minutia of everything but if you want to see more about the the races and what is best for what role and have a deeper dive into their racial passives i recommend taking a look at the video i have linked in the description below beneath all the time stamps where it will show you what race is best for which role and dive into the minutia of all the racial passives for the specific races moving into this next section we are going to cover the classes in the elder scrolls online there are six available classes in the game with two needing to be purchased from the crown store but we'll start with the base game classes first and then discuss the purchasable classes so the first class is the dragon knight that is my class so hell yeah dks but dks are super super fun class man they are a dragon based class that uses a heavy emphasis on fire as well as poison type damage they tend to be really tanky and in the fray and are honestly just a really really fun class to play now something to keep in mind though about the classes for eso is that every class can play every role so for example you can even tank as a dragon knight which is actually one of their better they're one of the better tanks for pve but you can even heal as a dragon knight if you are so inclined i personally play a magika dragonite that is my favorite class but dragonites again very focused on that fire and poison and a lot of draconic themes one shout out about the magic of dragonite as well magic of dragonite makes a very good melee magical class so if you're looking for a melee magicka type of class the dragonite will be good for you moving into our stereotypically mage class we have the sorcerer sorcerers have a bunch of daedric pets at their disposal magical sorcerers rely really heavily on lightning-based attacks and dark magical attacks while the stamina sorcerer uses the power of wind at his disposal now again you could also tank and heal on this class as well one of the pets also gives a ton of healing so if you want to heal you can have a pet that assists you in it so it's a really really fun class to play if you're looking for a class that's literally never bad the mag sork the magic of sorcerer is the equivalent of the mage from world of warcraft if you do play wow so sork definitely a solid option moving into probably one of the most popular classes in the game that is going to be the nightblade the nightblade is your stereotypical assassin with your stamina nightblade playing with that sneak archer play style if you're so inclined whipping out double daggers if you want to or you could even go for a big 2h for some bursty damage now if you do play magic nightblade on the other hand you instead change out that you know you know sneak archer play style for instead you could potentially go for a uh like it's more of like kind of like a blood bender type of deal it's really really cool it's a very interesting style um but do keep in mind that even though the nightblade you can think of it as again that more sneaky class you could still build you know like a brawler nightblade build if you want to you can tank on this class you can heal on this class so if you're looking for the classo with the only in combat stealth mechanic knight blade's going to be the one for you moving into our paladin class is going to be the templar the templar is exactly what it sounds like it's going to be your light and sun class you know stamina templar and magicka templar both kind of use using the light in different ways but that's that's kind of what you get from your temple you know your templar is your stereotypically really good healer as well uh their tank spec is not bad not the best but they they are primarily seen um for like pve they're really really good at healing and they can play as melee for both magicka and stamina or magicka can even play at quite a distance so templar is going to be like i said that's stereotypically paladin class now moving into our paid classes the first one that we have is the warden the warden is going to be your like a nature type of class utilizing like i said the elements of nature ice and animal companions at their side if you're looking for like a ranger type of playstyle or like you have you know a permanently active bear pet all the time the warden is going to be for you warden is really really solid in all roles they're a very solid tank very solid healer and they're good at both magical and physical based damage healing but like i said if you're looking for that kind of nature ice type of uh theme warden's gonna be a really good option for you and finally moving into our final paid class we have the necromancer now necromancer is going to be your raise the dead kind of a class but one of the cool things about the necromancer is that for the sorcerer and for the warden when you have your pets you have to actually control them and have them do certain things but all the necromancers pets are what's known as fire and forget which means that you basically summon them and they just do their thing you don't actually have to control them which is pretty cool however if you just raise some dead guy in the middle of a city people aren't going to like that because as you can see certain necromancer abilities are known as a criminal act and you will be wanted by the city guards if you do you know ray some dead guy in the middle of town so it will tell you though on the necro abilities which ones are considered criminal acts so you know do keep that in mind you won't it won't be like a surprise or you have to guess it'll label it very nicely on the skill but the magic of necromancer is like an elemental necromancer where you're uh you can summon like an uh like a bone wizard you had deal a variety of damage flame frost and shock while on the other hand your stamina necromancer is like a disease and poison necromancer so you can kind of have you know your your different skeletal guys explode with disease damage or have them explode with flame damage you get some of these huge flesh colossuses to smash the ground too it's a really really fun class and uh again tanks well heals well and does both stamina and magical dps very very proficiently moving into our next section we are going to cover character creation now character creation in eso is pretty solid it's not as good as some other games like black desert online but overall it is pretty solid so when you do create your character again you can choose your different alliance as well as your race and then your gender you can also choose your class obviously as well and then in terms of the actual character customizations you can you know have a variety of body types from very very large to very very skinny to super super jacked you can also obviously adjust your character's height skin color you have body tattoos and markings or scars that you want to add and then you can adjust a variety of sliders for on your upper body and your lower body you could also come here to your face and adjust it if you have a relic a softer or more angular look you can change your character's voice obviously you can change their hairstyle and their color you have features like age their beard you have a bunch of head markings and uh like war paints that you can put on different face adjustment sliders you obviously have eye color and eye adjustments uh brow color and brow adjustments in case you want to have like super bushy eyebrows you could also of adjust your nose mouth and ears or if you want to just hit the random button and see what it comes up with you could obviously feel free to do so now a new feature that is coming out with blackwood is that when you finish the tutorial for the game you are going to be able to choose where you want to start your adventure now i'm not going to spoil that for anybody and show the new tutorial so that you can experience it for yourself but when you get to the end of it you will be questioned by an npc about where you want to start your adventure now if you let's say you chose a totally you know like like an expansion or a chapter and you eventually decide you know what i would like to start the main quest line for the game the original game and see what that has to offer and plus i want to get my soul magic line which you do get from that you're going to want to go to any of the starting towns for your faction and then as you walk towards the gates of that town an npc called the hooded figure will question you and then that will be the basically the breadcrumb quest to get started on the molag bal quest line now for the ebonheart pack that is going to be davin's watch for the aldemary dominion you're going to be looking at uh volkel guard which is down here and then for the daggerfall covenant you are going to be looking at uh daggerfall now if you do also decide that you would like to start on your faction storyline and you would like to start it in order i could show you guys where to start that as well for the ebinar pact you will start at rock for the old married dominion you will start down here in canarthy's roost and for the daggerfall covenant you will start here at um port or excuse me makai so those are your different quest starters different quest areas the tutorial does a decent job at showcasing certain parts of the game too however it doesn't give you a super of an in-depth dive so that's why we're here with this video today but one of the good things that i'm really glad they added with the newest tutorial is that you can choose which chapter you would like to start questing in or even if you would like to start with the base game story so you can really customize your adventure because one thing to keep in mind is that eso is a totally sandbox questing experience in the zone scale to you so you can quest and do things in whatever order you want and you are not locked into a predefined questing order [Music] now the next section that i'm going to cover is the elder scrolls online user interface because when you first start the game i know it's going to be really confusing there's going to be a lot of menus and a lot of things and you're not going to really know what anything is but when you do get started as you can see down here on the left whenever you hit enter this will bring up your chat so you can you know say whatever you want in chat you can also make different windows as well for different things up top at the the top here is your compass so you can see north south east and west and see you know just kind of like some icons around you and things that are in certain directions if you also would like to bring up your mouse cursor you would simply press the default keyboard on pc which is period and you can bring that up as well um if you do also sneak you will be able to see if you're hiding or not and just like in skyrim when that eye is closed that means you are hidden and no one can see you but if you go into someone's heel division you end up getting detected and the eye does open now here at the bottom you can see your abilities your ultimate ability as well as your consumable potion that you can use in combat again i'll go into depth of all this stuff later in the guide you can also see your magicka which is your uh which is a resource your health and then your stamina which can be a resource for abilities or determines things like you know sprint dodge uh block but again this will all be covered later more in the guide now one thing i always get asked is how to show these things at all times because as default they do fade away when you're not in combat you're going to simply want to go to combat ability bar and attribute bar set those to roa show with resource number set to number and percent so you can see the numbers on your bars just like mine now you could also up here see your quests if you would like to um and you could like cycle through them to lock onto a different one i also have a mini map add-on i'm going to cover add-ons in the next section but i do have a mini map add-on so i just put mine right here and then if you press a button to open up a menu you can get brought to here and you can see a bunch of different menus now the first one that we have is the crown store which we went over earlier in the video we also have crown crates which are loot boxes that contain a bunch of random stuff as well as you know cosmetics mounts and things don't really recommend buying these as the rng that on them is literally trash so i don't recommend buying them uh you also can go here to open your inventory this will show you your inventory and all of the stuff in your bags as well as your gear and your stats you also do have your character which gives you an in-depth look at your stats and any active effects on yourself as well as your mount skills you can also take a look at some advanced stats if you are so inclined and you can also go here and set whatever title you want and set your outfit i have a couple different outfits so i can set which one i want uh over here you also have your skills pane you have a lot of different skill lines in eso again i will go over this later in the guide but you can open that here so you can see all of your active abilities your passives and as well as check out all the various skill lines you have on your character you also then have the champion point menu this is a new uh this got completely overhauled with the flames of ambition patch in the beginning of 2021 so we do have this new champion point system here again we'll discuss that later in the guide uh we also have our journal now the journal contains a lot of different things and this is like your quest log it has information about antiquities again we'll discuss this later in the guide you have your lore library for if you collect books around you can kind of see which ones you've collected your achievements pane and then leaderboards for any you know for like you know certain uh pvp things for trials solo dungeons and instances as well as battlegrounds you also have your collections your collections is going to showcase all the stuff that you've unlocked your on your account including you know cosmetic appearances furnishings uh pieces for like a variety of cosmetic items your assistants that i discussed earlier um you also can uh you know one of the like i mentioned these two npcs earlier you can also get ferrari the smuggler which is like a fence to sell stolen goods too uh you have your mementos which are like um you know like little things that you can use that do cool effects and stuff so if you want to use those you can do them here you have uh tools mounts non-combat pets emotes and then anything special you've collected now these are this is your story tab now this is really important because let's say you start questing along while you're in eso and then you decide like you know hey i want to do something different you can come to this story tab and as you can see as you click through these different stories you can accept the initial breadcrumb quest to actually get you to go to do those things you also have your list of collected and not collected houses with the ability to teleport to them a list of all of your different outfit styles as well as the brand new set sticker book so there are a bunch of different gear sets in eso again we'll discuss this later in the guide but as you collect them they will get put in your sticker book so that if you do later on decide like i don't know if i should keep this or i don't know if i want to you know maintain like this item in my bags or my bank or not and you end up getting rid of it it will be saved to your sticker book so that if you do decide like hey i want to like remake these things i didn't realize it was good you can actually completely recreate the item using a currency called transmit stones which once again i will discuss later in the video but that's a cool new feature that was added relatively recently you also of course have your map that has a bunch of different icons on it it can show you quests uh just like a general item key and uh stuff like that you also have your group pane where you can set your group dungeon mode to either veteran or normal uh your zone guide which can basically show you kind of like how to progress through a um like how like to progress through his own like what waste shrines which are your fast travel locations you've unlocked uh the cool thing is that in the eso the story quests have a specific icon which is this so you could also make sure you're on the correct quest uh and then a bunch of other stuff that you can check if you like or into zone completion and the cool thing is that if you want to start the zone story specifically for that area you can literally just click start zone story and boom you'll be good to go you also have your dungeon finder as well as your battlegrounds you could also select your role here you have your friends list uh your guilds which could be in up to five guilds at once and again the guilds are not faction specific they're account wide so your account basically joins the guild you can join up to five your information on the alliance war which is the open world pvp area your mail notifications and then your help menu uh and then up here you could also see your current level i'm champion point 1361 and uh yeah there's also i have an fps counter up here too that i activated through the settings but as you can see that's what the ui has in eso i know it can seem really confusing when you first get your hands on it but as you can see each menu has its own purpose and hopefully that did clear some things up [Music] the next section that i'm going to cover in this guide is going to be add-ons now add-ons are available for pc only so if you are not on console i am sorry you will not have access to add-ons but add-ons can do a variety of quality of life things for your game to allow you to have actual build templates to a mini map to just a bunch of different things like customizable user interface looks like for example the reason my ui looks like it has this night mode appearance is because of add-ons and when you want to download add-ons i highly download i recommend downloading them from minion and the website is minion.gg that's where most people from eso do get their add-ons from and you when you do download them you'll see this thing called add-ons and now you can see all the different add-ons that you have as well as the libraries to make the add-ons work and in addition in your keybinds you will then see add-on keybinds and then when you actually go into your settings you will also see add-on settings that you can go and configure now i do have a separate guide on my youtube channel that does have all the add-ons that i have installed but if you are so inclined to want to kind of like i'll just like quickly go through the list that i have action duration reminder add-on selector um these are for a trial so new players don't have to worry about them combat metrics bug catcher daily alchemy dark ui doughboy's lazy rick creator dressing room dynamics ep grayskull inventory insight map pins master merchant me at stealth text uh you can ignore this one potion maker raid notifier uh taos ap session uric skill point finder photons key minor mini map search box weapon charger and yet another compass so those are the add-ons that i have you want to learn more about them as well as how the i have the entirety of my ui setup because i don't want to basically just redo that guide here the complete beginner guide i will again leave that linked in the description below for this next section we are going to cover attributes and build types before we actually discuss these i need to explain a fundamental way that skills in eso scale skills scale with the resource that they cost as well as its corresponding damage type so for example on my magic of dragon night here if we take a look if i could actually open up my skill window if we look at flame lash flame lash costs magicka which means that it is going to scale and deal more damage the higher my magical pool is as well as the higher my spell damage is it will also have a higher chance to crit the higher my spell critical is and it will penetrate through enemy spell resistance the higher my spell penetration is spell resistance obviously dampens magical damage and penetration goes through that resistance magicka recovery then also influences how fast my magicka recovers and this recovery ticks every two seconds on the flip side of things we also have stamina skills so a skill that caused stamina as we can see with cleave will deal more damage the more stamina you have as well as the higher your weapon damage is it'll also have a higher chance to crit with higher weapon critical and it will penetrate through more physical resistance the higher your physical penetration is now there are some rule breaker skills to this but those are normally denoted in their tool tip so for example if we look at flames of oblivion even though it costs magicka it says in that last line this ability skills with your highest offensive stats so even though this ability costs magicka if as a stamina character you know you're playing a stamina character and your weapon damage and stamina are really really high flames of oblivion will scale with those numbers not your magical numbers on the flip side of things ultimates also scale very similarly to skills like flames of oblivion where they will deal more damage more healing whatever the higher your uh you know highest like damaging resource is also ultimate's cost ultimate which generates while you are actively in combat as well as while you're just attacking your opponents you will generate a resource called ultimate and then you will spend that ultimate on this final skill now that actually can segue out like i said into the different types of builds you have four primary types of builds magicka damage dealing stamina damage dealing tanking and healing magical damage dealers are i'm sure you can guess builds that focus on magicka so typically you'll dump all 64 points into magicka and then you are going to focus primarily on gaining spell damage maximum magicka spell critical spell penetration for your offensive stats and then magic recovery to help resustain your resources on the flip side of things a stamina focus builds will put all of their points into stamina to focus on getting their maximum stamina pool high and then trying to get weapon damage weapon critical and physical penetration as well as stamina recovery to make sure that they their weapon and stamina skills deal as much damage as possible and have the ability to then recover that stamina resource now on the flip side healers are very similar to magical damage dealers and have the same type of step priority looking to focus on maximum magicka and spell damage primarily because the main healing weapon in the game the restoration staff the skills scale with magicka now a tank is kind of like a little bit of like a rule breaker to this system because the tank kind of plays like a hybrid where you use skills for different things because for example as a stamina character often times you will still use a magica skill for the utility that it provides not necessarily for its damaged so just using an armor buff as an example right i have a skill called volatile armor which gives me a gives me major resolve increasing my physical and spell resistance by about 6 000 for 20 seconds i will explain what these buffs mean but this is just for an example stamina dragon knights can still use volatile armor even though it costs magicka simply to gain this major buff simply because this buff is not affected by magicka or you know spell damage even though the skill costs magicka because it's a predetermined you know amount like the major and minor buffs of predetermined amounts so it doesn't matter how much magic of my character has you can use this for utility same thing for nightblades the nightblade stealth ability it puts you into stealth and then your next ability deals a crit there's no damage on that skill so it doesn't matter how much magic or spell damage that you have it's not going to make the skill any better or worse you know what i'm saying it you you use it as a stamina and i played for the utility so that's kind of where have the builds kind of like how the builds kind of work and so how that plays in with the tank is that a tank it's going to kind of have a hybrid between magica health and stamina where you want enough health to make sure that you're tanky you want enough stamina to make sure that you're able to cast any skills that cause stamina blocking with your shield also cost stamina and dodge rolling also cost stamina again i'll go over this stuff in the combat section um but then you'll also have some utility spills that cause spells excuse me that cost magicka but generally the rule of thumb is get to like 35k plus health on your tank when you are near the end of the game and then just keep your stamina higher than your magical pool and you can basically distribute your attributes however you want because it'll depend a lot on your gear your race and a bunch of other factors but a quick and dirty version of basically everything i just said magicka builds will put all their points into magicka and focus primarily on magicka and spell damage and its modifiers stamina builds will put all their points into stamina as well as focus heavily on stamina recovery weapon damage and its modifiers and then healers have the same priorities magicka damage dealers and then tanks are kind of a hybrid between magicka and stamina in addition our final resistance that critical resistance will reduce the amount of damage taken by a critical hit based off of the amount of resistance that you have now do keep in mind that monsters in the world of eso cannot deal critical damage so this critical resistance will really only kick in when we are pvp and like i said it just dampens the amount of damage we take from a critical strike so what can help lower the incoming burst damage on us and this critical resistance applies to both physical and magical attacks [Music] our next section is going to cover status effects and damage types so if you did not watch my previous section on damage scaling i would highly recommend going and watching that section before watching this one but certain damage types cause certain status effects and certain damage types are associated with certain resources so associated with magicka are the magic damage type fire ice and shock and yes magic is a separate type on the other hand for the physical damage or stamina damage we have physical damage poison damage disease damage and some things have something called bleed damage on it and those are all associated with the stamina stat and weapon damage while the other ones are like i said were magicka and spell damage and popping up on the screen i have a graphic that comes up with some of the most common status effects so the burning status effect will be applied when you deal fire damage to a character and when you apply the burning status effect on an enemy they will take fire damage over time based on your max magicka and spell damage um we also have chilled the chilled status effects can be applied by dealing frost damage to a character and chilled enemies will suffer from minor maim for four seconds reducing their damage by five percent now if you also um have an ice staff equipped through some of the istat passives you will also apply minor brittle which increases their critical damage taken we also have concussion now that happens with shock damage children's with frost concussives with shock that can cause status effects will be applied while dealing shock damage and they will suffer from minor vulnerability minor vulnerability increasing their damage take it by five percent now for poison damage you will apply the poison status effect and that will cause a poison damage over time kind of similarly based to burning um and it will tick and deal damage over time bleed uh when you deal bleeding damage also have a chance to cause the bleeding status effect which works exactly the same as poison and burning we also have disease the disease status effects can be applied by dealing disease damage to a character and that will cause a minor defile for four seconds which will decrease their healing received by eight percent weapon enchantments damage if you have an enchantment on your weapon which you can put that on will have a 20 chance to apply a status effect single target direct damage attack has a base chance of 10 area of effect abilities have a five percent base chance single target dots have a three percent base chance area f effect dots have a one percent base chance and then light and heavy attacks have a zero percent base chance now these base chances to apply status effects can be augmented by certain um like weapon traits which can increase this chance as well as certain passives from your skill lines now just keep in mind that because these uh status effects are associated with certain damage types they will also be appropriately mitigated by their resistances so burning children uh burning damage for example will be mitigated by spell resistance while like poison and bleeding will be resisted by physical resistance the next thing that we're going to talk about in this guide is weapon swapping so in the elder scrolls online you can have up to two weapon bars at the same time you can either hold one weapon certain weapons will be held in both hands so you can only equip one weapon however other weapons are held in only one hand so you're able to hold like let's say like a one-handed axe and a shield or even let's say two one-handed axes so that you will be dual-wielding now the cool thing is that you have two weapon bars so for example my what's called my front bar has a staff on it while my back bar if i switch here then switches to my one-handed shield now when you do switch bars you also get a brand new set of five skills and an ultimate so these are the skills that i have access to when i'm on my sword and shield bar and if i press my weapon swap key binds it will swap to my front bar which has my inferno staff skill so i'll have access to these skills here and these skills here you unlock this at level 15 when you start playing and when you first unlock it you will have nothing equipped here so if you were to try to swap bars you know you won't have any skills here and you won't have a weapon so simply if you want to equip a weapon for the first time you simply can just drag it here okay like this like so and then if i can find my shield you can also drag the shield on here and then bam you now have weapons equipped so when you swap to that bar you can now place your skills but like i said this is unlocked at level 15 and by swapping between these two different skill bars you will have access to different skills now just keep in mind that skills that give you a buff on a specific bar do not apply when you switch bars so let's use flames of oblivion as an example this gives me major prophecy while slotted giving me major major prophecy major savagery increasing my critical by 26.29 so as we can see on my back bar right now i have 30 spell critical but if i swap to my front bar where flames oblivion is not present we notice that my spell critical drops all the way to 18 and that is because i no longer am gaining the benefits from flames of oblivion because as far as the game is concerned i do not have it equipped right now in a spell slot so just do keep in mind that certain permanent buffs like that that were on skills that are slotted only apply on that bar same thing with certain passives that is something to keep in mind as well on the other hand a skill like volatile armor gives me major resolve when i activate it but now since it's actually active on my character even if i swap bars it's still active because as you can see i still have the spikes in my back because it's an active buff so just want to kind of differentiate between active and passive buffs active buffs will be active on both bars while passive buffs from slotted skills or passives will only be activated on the bars that they're on there are certain things that are rule breakers to this like certain arena weapons but it's a little bit out of the scope for this guide and so you know i just didn't want to i don't want to get too much into that here today [Music] for this next section we're going to be talking about skills skill points and sky shards so you gain skill points in the elder scrolls online in a number of ways and skill points are what are used to unlock your ultimate active and passive abilities so you can gain a skill point by simply leveling up from one to fifty you can collect three sky shards which are item glowing shards that you could find around the world and by collecting three of those you will gain a skill point you could also complete dungeon quests defeat the final boss in a public dungeon level up your pvp rank etc there's many many many ways to gain skill points and skill points like i said are what you need to unlock ultimate active and passive abilities so your ultimate ability is what is slotted in that final skill slot on both of your bars so you can have two different ultimates at one time on your character and then you also have five different skills one for your primary bar and one for your secondary bar so in total you have 12 skills that are active that you have to physically press to make them do something at a time some skills do have passive slot benefits uh so by simply having the ability on your bar you will gain some passive bonus and those skills will tell you what they are but for the most part most active skills need to physically be pressed in order for you to do something some require a target some just buff your character but again you have to actually click the skill passive abilities on the other hand are active on your character at all times so for example at all times the damage of my burning and poison status effects are increased by 50 percent at all times as you can see there are no restrictions on this passive it doesn't say while i do this or while i do that it's just so something i have up in my character at all times but there are certain passives that do have certain uh requirements for example my one-handed shield passives will require me to obviously have a one-handed shield equipped in order to gain access to this passive so fortress says with a one-handed shield equipped reduce the stamina cost of my one-handed shield abilities by 10 and reduce the cost of blocking by 36 so this is something to keep in mind when you are looking at your passives in general you are going to want to gain passives from your all of your class skill lines any weapons you are currently using your all of the armor types that you currently have on your character your racial passives medicinal use from alchemy and then any other passives that you know your that correspond to skills that your character is using so for example if you're using some active skills from the mages guilds you're going to skill line you're going to want to have mages guild passives etc now active skills have their own leveling process as you can see a lot of my skills here are rank 4 molten whip 4 burning members 4 and golfing flames 4. now the way that skills work in the elder scrolls online is that they have a base skill and then once that skill levels up from 1 to 4 you can actually morph that skill into a different one so you can actually give it some more power or even change the way the skill is so for example my searing strike here i'll actually bring up a picture has a base version again searing strike and it can be morphed into either burning embers or venomous claw the burning embers morph will deal flame damage and deal flame damage over time and then heal me for 80 of the damage or whatever percent when the effect ends while the venomous claw morph will deal poison damage deal poison damage over time get stronger as it ticks and costs stamina now for my magic dragon knight i went with burning ember since again as i stated in an earlier section because it costs magicka it will get stronger based off of my magicka pool and my spell damage but on my stamina based dragonite which has a larger stamina pool and weapon damage pool i would go with the venomous claw morph since that's going to be the stronger of the two morphs for my character now not every skill has a stamina or magical morph many do but not all and primarily you're going to see your stamina morphs on your on your damaging skills occasionally skills that restore resources but for them a lot of times your utility skills cost magicka but just because when you look through your your skill lines you're going to see oh man all of these skills all cost magicka you know a lot of them do have stamina morphs so that is something to keep an eye out for while you are leveling up and if you also want to see what skills are best for your class and roll while leveling you could also feel free to check out the leveling builds on my website dotsgaming.com and those will help you in your adventures but every single time you want to get an ultimate skill an active skill or a passive skill you have to spend a skill point in order to get those passive skills will get stronger with each rank so this is two out of two so at rank one i would probably get five percent and at rank two you get ten percent and every single time you invest in the base cost of a skill and then morph it that's one skill point each time so one skill point for the base cost and then one skill point for the morph um and another question i do get all the time is is it possible to get you know all the skill points i need for a complete build and maybe to do some crafting later on because you have to spend points into your crafting passives in order to actually be able to craft and yes you can have enough skill points to do all of that stuff there's a ton of sky shards in the world and a ton of skill points to collect so do not worry that you will run out of skill points there are a ton to collect for your character now skills level up when they gain experience while on your active bar so for example as you can see currently my first skill bar my destruction staff is my active bar so molten whip burning embers engulfing flames rearming trap etc those skills will gain experience as i gain experience while this bar is up so they will level up but if i want to gain experience of the skills on my opposite bar i need to make sure that this is the active bar on my character while gaining experience for these skills in order to level up for example now that i'm on my secondary bar the skills of my primary bar won't be gaining experience while i gain experience on this bar so placing skills properly on your bars while leveling is really really important for your leveling process especially because you also need to level up your skill lines in addition to leveling up the skills and the skill lines will level up in a lot of different ways some skills need to level up from one to fifty some are one to ten and if you hover your mouse over a skill line it'll tell you how that skill line gains experience so for example my art and flame skill line will simply level up by gaining experience but if i equip additional art and flame skills this skills advancement will increase even faster and all of your class skill lines have that same type of deal they all level up in that way so what i always recommend to a new player is you want to make sure you have at least one skill from all of your class skill lines on your front and back bar in order to make sure that your skill lines are leveling up at a good rate weapons and armor on the other hand are a little bit different weapons and armor will gain experience by you just simply wearing and using them but weapon skill lines will also level up even quicker if you have a weapon skill slotted so you can see up here improve this skill by using a gaining xp with a two-handed weapon equipped but you can also equip two-handed abilities to increase the skills advancement and make it even faster so let's say i wanted to level up my two-handed really really fast i would use a two-handed weapon maybe you know slot like i said two two-handed skill lines and my two-handed would level up at a pretty quick rate but let's say i want to level up my destruction staff and maybe my one-handed shield at the same time what you could potentially do is use your destruction staff as your weapon but slot the first skill from the one-handed shield skill line on that bar so as you can see equipping one-handed skills will increase the skills advancement so even though i'm not using a one-handed shield you can still level up your one-handed shield skill line by simply having this skill slotted so that's just a little trick uh for leveling some skills up but generally what i recommend people do is like i said have one skill from all of your class skill lines on your front and back bar so make sure you have three of each and then you can fill out the rest of your your skill bars with either your weapon skills uh maybe you can put an armor skill there if you want to uh various guild skills though the rest of the of the skills are up to you but like i said you can feel free to check out my leveling builds for some recommendations but definitely make sure that you have those class skills slotted so you can level up your class skill lines as quickly as possible now i did mention that skills are morphed once the base rank hits four and then you can morph it into another skill once you morph the skill though that new skill will then be at rank one you still do wanna rank up the skill to rank four even though you don't get another morph and the reason is is because as you level up the morphed skills they will gain additional benefits sometimes the skill will cost less sometimes it'll deal more damage sometimes it'll heal you a little bit more sometimes certain durations will last longer so do keep in mind that even once you morph a skill it is still important to level it up to rank 4 by gaining experience as i've stated in the section to make sure that you're gaining the most benefit from all of your active skills the next section that i would like to cover is weapons and armor in eso so unlike other games your weapons and armor are not attached to the type of class that you play and you can use whatever combinations of weapons and armor you want at any time but with that being said certain weapons and armor do favor certain play styles and i'm just going to explain what those are today so you know roughly which weapons to use while you are playing the game now there are six main weapon types you got your two-handed weapons which is yours your two-handed swords battle axes and mauls you got one hand in shield dual wield which is dual wielding one-handed daggers swords axes and maces you also have your bow skill line you have your destruction staff skill line which is your elemental staff skilled line which includes flame frost and lightning and then finally you have your restoration staff which is your healing staff now like i said certain weapons favor certain play styles and you can kind of get a rough idea just based on taking a look for example if we look into the two-handed weapon the first skill is uppercut you slam an enemy dealing physical damage and it costs stamina so as we learned earlier in the guide this is going to favor a more stamina-focused style on the flip side if you look at the destruction staff you have force pulse caused just costs magicka deals flame frost and shock damage so as we can see this is going to favor a more magical focused play style and in general your magical weapons are going to be the destruction staff and the restoration staff while your stamina weapons are going to be the bow dual wield two-handed with one-handed shield being your primary weapon for tanking now with that being said that does not mean that weapons can't be used by the opposite role one thing that's important to learn when you start playing elder scrolls online is that eso is fundamentally a game of passives so for example if we look at the passive abilities of one handed shield you have something like a fortress that only requires the one-handed shield equipped you don't have to actually use a skill and it reduces the cost of blocking by 36 percent this increases the amount you can block by 20 percent this improves your standard bash attacks which is when you are um holding block for example and you press your cc breaker interrupt button you will cause a bash which deals damage so for one-handed shield that deals more this increases the amount you can block from projectiles so as as you can see we can use this for a defensive weapon bar on even on a magical classic for example when i pvp on my dragon night here i use a one-handed shield on my defensive bar because my class is a bit on the slower side so having this extra defense is a really potent thing to be able to use um you could also potentially even use dual wield as magicka with one of the class with one of the passes from twin blade and blunt as you can see daggers axes maces and swords all give you different bonuses the same applies to 2h as well but if you notice that these are not like denominated specifically to stamina all you have to do is be dual wielding and you can increase your spell your critical chance by 405 for each dagger your weapon and spell damage by 71 so you could potentially like i said use these alternate weapon types even without using the skills and one thing to note in eso that changed relatively recently is that whenever you light attack which is that left click which i'm gonna go over in the combat section um this left click as well as these heavy attacks which is when you hold down your uh your left mouse button assuming you're not talking about pc those scale with your highest resource so for example my light and heavy attacks for my one-handed shield even though the skills in this weapon line cost stamina as we can see um it doesn't matter these light and heavy attacks will scale with my magic and my spell damage since those are my highest stats now in terms of what weapons you're going to want to use in what situations i have a more in-depth weapons guide on my youtube channel that you can feel free to check out if you want a deeper dive into this but i'm just going to quickly go over uh some combinations here in this for the complete beginner guide for stamina damage dealing in pve you will generally want to use dual wheeled and bow sometimes there are you know alternate builds that use alternate styles but they tend to be a little bit more niche in general for pve in eso as stamina you'll be dual wield and bow on the other hand for stamina pvp two-handed tends to be your go-to weapon line due to some certain skills that are in the weapon line that are really really beneficial and you also can use basically almost anything on the back bar the other stamina weapon lines so two-handed generally is your primary but you could also use one-handed shield if you want a more defensive build dual wields for some alternative offense uh like on offensive bar so you could run two-handed dewatch this is typically more done in bleed build and then finally you have the bow because one of the passives is called hasty retreat that gives you a big speed buff whenever you dodge roll so to uh the bub is really good for some mobility on that back bar on the flip side on the magical side of things destruction staff for damage dealing tends to be your primary weapon with at the moment in time flame being the best elemental staff for pve so typically for pv damage dealers you will use two flame staff bars on the other hand when it comes to pvp you can kind of mix it up a little bit based off of your build um as we can see uh it is going to be the ancient knowledge passive gives you different bonuses based on the type of staff you have equipped so if you have an inferno staff equipped your single target abilities will deal more damage with a lightning staff your aoes will deal more damage and then with an ice staff it's more of a tanking staff actually allowing you to block more increasing how much you can block so again for pvp if you have a lot of aoe maybe you want a lightning staff but for single target you're gonna want an inferno staff restoration staff is it tends to be the healing staff so when you are healing an eso you will generally run a restoration staff with a destruction staff on the other bar um typically the reason you're gonna wanna do this is because you're going to want to actually use um elemental blockade which actually lays some damage on the ground of either the frost or storm variety mostly for healing now i know i'm kind of going like a little bit into some uh you know later building techniques but i do just kind of want to explain it to you guys here the reason that you want frost or shock is because they supply important debuffs to enemies when you are playing in dungeons that are important for group play that generally it is expected for a healer to bring so that is why you want to you know it depends on your group sometimes you'll need to supply the frost staff buff sometimes you'll need to apply the lightning staff buff but regardless um you'll typically want to use either a um a a lightning staff or a frost staff so that you can provide those debuffs now for magicka and pvp you do have some options generally i recommend your front bar or main damage healing staff will typically be a staff either frost or excuse me either lightning or fire depending on your build and then your defensive bar again you have a couple of choices you can either go with the one-handed shield if your build is a bit on the slower side or you can go with a restoration staff for some extra healing but typically if you do go with the one-handed shield that's going to typically be if you're going to be getting heals from your class skills uh but that's just a quick overview guys of the weapon skill lines now one thing to also note is that weapons in eso also do have traits all gear has traits weapons armor and jewelry but i'll go over the weapon traits right now and then we will cover armor our weapon traits are going to be charged which increases the chance to apply a status effect we got defending which increases the amount of total armor that we have infused which reduces the enchantment cooldown on our weapons and also increases its potency nirnhoned uh grants us more weapon or spell damage uh powered increases our healing done precise gives us more critical sharpen increases our penetration training gives us more experience gained while decisive gives us more ultimate whenever we gain ultimate now besides weapons we obviously have armor like i mentioned so armor also got a recent overhaul in eso and now works a little bit different than it used to so certain armor types in the game have different uh bonuses and penalties but there are three primary armor types in the game you have light armor medium armor and heavy armor in general light armor tends to uh prefer more of a magical based play style medium armor is more of a physical damage play style well he uh heavy armor is more for tanking also light armor is also used for healing now as i mentioned these have different bonuses and penalties so for light armor the bonuses you get are reduced magical attack damage reduces the cost of roll dodge reduces movement speed penalty of sneak reduces the cost of break free so that is when you break free from acc and reduces the cost of bash which is what i talked about earlier light armor penalties will increase the amount of damage taken from martial attacks aka physical attacks increases the cost to block by three percent and decreases the damage done with batch by one percent now something to mention with that increased damage taken for martial attacks is that the armor types and eso have different weights so for example a light armored chest will have the least amount of resistance a medium armor chest will have the the second most resistance and then the heavy armor chest will have the most resistance through that armor value so as we can take a look at a piece of gear here my chest is reinforced um if you notice that my armor value from that is 3077. if this was a light armored piece it would be significantly lower so do keep in mind that in addition to having lower armor values from light armor you will also take additional marshal damage so it's just something to keep in mind we also have the medium armor bonuses which medium armor has no penalties but the bonus is that reduce the cost of sneak by one percent uh reduce the cost of sp excuse me reduce the cost of sprint by one percent sneak by five percent block by three percent reduces damage taken from area of effect attacks by two percent for two seconds after you roll dodge and increase the movement speed by two percent while you're immune to cc because after you cc break you actually are immune to cc for a shirt short duration so during that time you will actually move quicker on the heavy armor side you have inc reduced damage ticket for martial attacks increased amount of damage that can be blocked increased damage done with bash reduces your damage taken while immune to crowd control on the flip side we also have increased damage taken from magical attacks as a penalty reducing the movement speed the sprint by one percent again you're obviously in heavy armor so you can't sprint or roll dodge as much increase the cost of roll dodge and then finally increases the size of your detection area while sneaking by ten percent and these are all all these bonuses and penalties are per piece worn but as we can tell by looking through the different passives of the skill lines you can like i said you can see which um which play styles they prefer you know this is um you know something like this actually reduces the amount of snares and sprint uh it reduces the cost of sprint so you can move a bit quicker because your armor is lighter this also gives you magic recovery and reduces magicka cost spell warding gives you spell resistance spell critical uh is given through prodigy and while concentration gives you spell penetration on the flip side medium armor gives you weapon critical stamina recovery reduces stamina cost reduces sneak and detection area cost uh weapon damage is increased and you also can move quicker and roll dodge costs less on the flip side with heavy armor you get increased resistance increased health recovery you also restore magic and stamina when you take damage you also get more max health you can restore more resources from your heavy attacks because an eso when you use a heavy attack which is what i mentioned earlier that when you hold down that left click you restore resources and this passive makes it so that you restore a lot more resources and then finally you have rapid mending which gives you additional healing done so in general when it comes to pve it's pretty straightforward light armor you're going to or for magic of damage dealers you're going to wear mostly light armor i'm talking six or seven pieces of light armor for stamina damage dealers you're going to want to wear six to seven pieces of medium armor and then for tanks you're going to want to wear six to seven pieces of heavy armor if you do on the off chance want to use a different like armor type you can for example you could wear six pieces of light and one piece of heavy because again all of these bonuses are per piece worn so if you want some of these extra heavy armor bonuses let's say on your magicka build to be a little bit tankier and to just get more armor you can do that because there's also another passive through the undaunted skill line called undaunted metal which gives you additional stats on your build per armor type worn so if you have let's say six pieces of light and one piece of heavy on you'll get an additional four percent stats because that's two armor types therefore two percent per type now like i said generally that's for pve on the pvp side of things um in the past there was a lot more of like a stereotypical like uh staple loadout that you're gonna want to use but nowadays things can be a little bit more complicated you can kind of mix and match the different armor types a lot more generally though what i recommend if you're going to be a magic a damage dealer you're going to want to wear a combination of primarily light and heavy armor light armor for the damage heavy armor for the tankiness you can also if again if you want to just be more tanky you can wear mostly heavy armor with a little bit less light armor that's personally what i do on some of my characters um but again it depends on your setup but generally you're going to want to combine light and heavy armor more damage more light armor more tankiness more heavy armor and it's the same type of thing for stamina you're going to want to wear combinations of medium and heavy armor you want to wear heavy armor if you want to be tankier more heavy pieces means more tankiness while more medium pieces means more mobility and more damage again there is also going to be traits for armor in the game as well so let's take a look at those so the first ones we have is divines which increases your mundustone effect you have invigorating which is going to increase your um stat recoveries and penetrable gives you critical resistance and reduces the items durability damage infused gives you extra armor enchantments uh like extra armor enchantment percentage nirnhold will give you extra resistance reinforce will just straight up increase the item's armor value which also gives more resistance uh sturdy reduces block cost training increases experience from kills while well fitted is going to reduce the cost of roll dodge and sprint now there's also jewelry in the game as well and jewelry does include uh some traits in addition uh so the traits that we have for julia are arcane which creates our maximum magicka bloodthirsty which gives us more weapon and spell damage to targets under 90 percent and it scales up based on how much health that the enemy is losing harmony increases the damage healing resource restore and damage shield strength of synergies that we activate uh we also have healthy which increases our maximum health and fuse which gives us more jewelry enchantment effectiveness protective increases our physical and spell resistance robust gives us more max stamina swift gives us more movement speed and finally triune gives us more health magicka and stamina now guys again similarly to my weapons thing that i mentioned earlier if you do want a more deep dive into armor i do also have an armor guide that is completely standalone armor guide on my channel link is going to be in the description below but for this i just wanted to give you guys some stuff to consider while you are leveling generally what i do recommend too if you are a new player wear different combinations of the light medium and heavy armor you don't have to go crazy with necessarily being specific because you really do want to level up all these skill lines to try to get as much of the passives as you can on the weapons you could be a little bit more selective you know if you know you're going to let's say be using a destruction staff because you're a magical damage dealer feel free to use this all the time but that's just going to be an overview though of the weapons and armor in eso and which ones you're going to want to wear in which situations [Music] the next section that i'm going to cover is mundustones now mundustones are basically these big rock things that you can interact with in the world and they give your character a passive benefit they're really similar to standing stones in skyrim so for example this guy currently has the apprentice mundus stone on his on my guy so i'm currently gaining 299 increased spell damage because i went and interacted with the apprentice mundustone and they're these can be scattered all around the world in different zones or you can have them actually in your player house there are player housing in the elder scrolls online i will go over it a bit later but you can actually get the mundustones for your house so you can simply come back to your house and use the mundustones instead of going around the world and uh going to their specific locations but i will go over what all the mundustones are right now and i'll also go over in what situations you might want to use certain mundustones so the first one we have is the lady which increases your physical and spell resistance we also have the lover which increases your physical and spell penetration we have the lord which increases your maximum health the mage increases your maximum magicka the tower increases your maximum stamina the astronaut increases your magic recovery the serpent increases your stamina recovery the shadow increases your critical strike damage the ritual increases your healing effectiveness the thief increases your critical strike chance and the warrior increases your weapon damage the apprentice increases your spell damage and finally this deed increases your run speed as well as your health recovery now in general for pve damage dealing as a magicka character your best options are going to be the shadow the thief or the apprentice those are going to be your three best mundustone choices now these may change based off of balances that come in the later patches but at the time of making this video the shadow the thief and the apprentice are the three best for a physical damage dealer it is the shadow the thief and the warrior for a tank you're looking at using the uh the atronach for more magical recovery because a lot of utility skills as a tank require magicka and being able to recover more magicka is extremely important and we also have the lord which increases your uh maximum health that's also really good for a tank and then finally for a healer we have uh the astronaut again to increase your magical recovery and increase the rate at which your magicka recovers as well as the ritual which increases your healing effectiveness so either of those are really good options and then of course for pvp uh you have a lot of other choices you know for example the mage and the atronach are good for magicka pvp the serpent and the tower are good for stamina pvp in addition to the ones from uh in addition to the warrior for magicka or for stamina dps and the apprentice for magicka dps but in terms of pvp mundus a lot of it does come down to preference and what you enjoy but those are the the what the mundus stones do as well as a general overview of when you're going to want to use certain ones in certain situations in this next section i'm going to cover npc guilds in the elder scrolls online there are six different npc guilds that you can join very similarly to the other elder scrolls games we have the dark brotherhood the thieves guild the fighters guild the mages guild the city order and the undaunted the fighters guild mages guild and undaunted are included in the base game and are way more tied to your character's power while the dark brotherhood thieves guild and citric order are acquired from dlc or in the case of the citric order the somerset chapter in order to join those guilds now if you assuming you have the dark brotherhood dlc the these guild dlc and the citric or and the uh somerset chapter the way that you start uh enjoying these various guilds is you need to go to the stories tab and go to zone dlc and then if you do dark brotherhood and click accept quest as well as thieves guild accept quest you will get the quest lines to start off on your adventures to join these two guilds for the somerset chapter you need to simply start again the queen's decree it's the starting quest for uh summerset and throughout starting the uh opening main quest of somerset you will eventually be introduced to the citric order and you will be able to acquire that skill line and the citric order is a very good skill line and if you have summer set it is definitely worth investing the time into getting but the undaunted is crucial to every single character the mages guild are as important for all magicka based characters and the fighters guild is important for stamina based characters so i'm going to focus mostly on those three as they're more um they're more crucial for your uh for your character's power so the mages killed the fighters guild the undaunted are joined by going to the starting city of your faction so if you're on the ebonheart pact you'll be going to the uh to davin's watch in stone falls if you are on the all-married dominion you'll be going to volcan guard in auradon and if you are on the daggerfall covenant you'll be going to daggerfall in glenumbra and you're going to be looking for this icon to join the mages guild this icon to join the fighters guild and you'd be one of the ends in order to join the undaunted so if you want to join the mages guild you simply go into the mages guild in your faction starting city and when you come into here you will be able to talk to one of these npcs they will have a quest for you and you will be able to talk to them and join the mages guild it simply is going hey i'd like to join the mages guild bing bang boom you're in and you gain access to the skill line and you level up the major skill skill line by collecting more books around the world so you could also do the mages guild quest the major skill does have its own quest line but it levels up by collecting those lore books it just gets very similar to sky shards where you can find them scattered around the world and you can acquire them and level up your mages guild now if you want to join the fighters guild you simply come here talk to this guy be like hey i want to join the fighters guild and they go all right sounds good and then you join the fighters guild and you level up the fighters guild by killing undead by killing daedra as well as con uh closing dark anchors aka dolmens which i'll be going over in a later section of the guide now finally the undaunted the undaunted is basically the guild focused around dungeons and dungeon diving and you're gonna want to come to one of the inns in your starting town and you will see these guys all sitting around a table drinking some mead talking about their dungeoneering adventures and if you talk to them you'll get a quest to go simply do a dungeon come back talk to them and you'll be able to get your undaunted skill line and to level up the undaunted skill line you want to do dungeon achievements pledges which i will be going over later in the guide um and you could also potentially do some delve quests that you can get from the undaunted enclave which can be found in the fashion capitals but again i'll be going over that in the pledges section but this again is focused around primarily doing um dungeon quests uh and dungeon and when you join all of these npcs guilds you get a corresponding skill line that goes with it like i mentioned and i mentioned how you level these up but some of these skill lines are you know they give active abilities in an ultimate like the fighters and mages guild um undaunted only gives actives no ultimate this gives only two passives while the mages guild and the fighters guild have some more passives and then you have the dark brotherhood and thieves guild which are passives only and then the psijic order is really similar to fighters and mages where you have four actives as well as an ultimate so you're able to get a wide variety of benefits from these guild still lines again some are more integral to your character's power and some like the dark brotherhood and thieves guilds are just kind of some more rp elements but using these guild skill lines you're really able to customize your character a little bit more and make them that much more your own the next thing that i'm going to talk about is player guilds guild stores and traders so in the elder scrolls online you can join up to five different player guilds at once for those of you who have never played an mmo before a player guild is simply it's like a clan you know it's a group of people that can join one group and you get your own chat room and you guys can go out and do various types of activities together but the cool thing about eso is you can be in up to like i said five guilds at once and of course there are different types of guilds in this game uh just like there are in other games there are guilds that focus on pvp content there are girls that focus on running trials which is this game's version of the raid there are guilds that are just social guilds there that you know just focus on the social elements of the game deals that are focused on role playing and most notably for eso that's way different than any other mmos there are guilds that are focused on trading so for example the main trading goals i'm in spicy economics uh they have a guild trader in mournhold which is a one of the capital cities and they have a guild trader there now you might be saying i don't know what that means i don't know what a guild trader is or what a trading guild is there is no central auction house inside of the elder scrolls online eso goes off of a guild trader system so the way it works is that all guilds have a guild store so if you go to your to any bank you can find a bank by this chest icon in any of the cities if you go to a bank and talk to the banker you can click guild store and you can sell items on that guild store or buy items off of that guild store now assuming you don't have a guild trader a guild store is simply just a place where you can buy and sell items between the various members of your guild but if you have a guild trader the guild trader is an npc in the world that makes that guild store public facing so while somebody who let's say who's not in spicy economics they can purchase from our guilds trader but they can't sell on the guild trader only people in the guild can sell on the trader but when you have an npc that's public facing anyone can buy from the trader but assuming that the guild didn't have a trader that wasn't public facing you would only be able to per you only guild members would be able to purchase from that guild store and the way that guild traders work is that if let's say you know you are a guild master and you want to build on a guild trader you can simply go to a guild trader here and you can click bid on trader and you're able to place a bid on the trader for your guild and have a potentially you know have that guild uh that mpc be represent your guild in your guild store and it's every week it evaluates who placed the highest bid and whoever placed the highest bid takes control of this skilled trader [Music] the next thing that i'm going to cover is mount training bag space and banking so as a new player these three things are the primary things you should be spending your gold on i see a lot of a lot of new players make the same mistake where they buy all you know a ton of stuff that they don't need but these three things are the primary stuff that you need to be worrying about spending your money on and leveling up while you are uh going through your starting adventures so starting off with mount training when you hit level 10 you're going to get a mount from the level up rewards because every time you level up you get some rewards and one of those rewards at level 10 is a mount and you're going to notice very quickly that when you get that mount it's very very slow so you want to make sure that every day you go to a stable which is shown as a horse head on the map and you go and you talk to the stable master you click view stable and you can see you could buy a mount if you would like to but you get one for free from the level 10 reward so you could just use that or you could buy one off the crown store and once you have a mount equipped which you can do by going into the collectibles going to mounts and setting one as an active mount you will be able to see this window for riding trainer and you have three writing skills speed stamina and carrying capacity so speed increases this uh movement speed of your mount stamina and uh increases your amount lets your mount sprint longer and you can take more hits before you become dismounted and carrying capacity increases your bag space so what i recommend to do in a pers for an order is to level up speed to maximum first trust me you want to do speed first or your amount is slow as all heck when you go if you're going to be pvping you're going to want to do stamina second so that if you get hit while you're mounted going from one place to another you won't immediately get dismounted and someone won't have to jump on you but if you're a pve player primarily and you're not going to be getting hit by stuff constantly while you're going around on your map carrying capacity might be a little bit more beneficial to you to increase that bag space for you but ultimately i would just say do speed first and then do stamina or carrying capacity in whatever order you want now it's 250 gold every 20 hours definitely make sure to do this every day it really really really helps getting this leveled up now besides this i also did mention leveling up your backspace as you can see this guy only has 120 bag spaces i do want really need to level this up a bit more um and that will get leveled up as i also get more carrying capacity on my mount you know because that influences your bag space but if you go to a pack merchant which there's one all the way tucked back here if you go to a pack merchant you can talk to this guy and buy a backpack upgrade so you can increase your inventory size by 10 more slots by talking to this guy and buying a backpack upgrade so it can be seen if you hover over like for example the uh the weights here on the map you can see it says pack merchant you can go talk to the pack merchant and you can upgrade your bag and then finally the last thing that you have is the bank so if i go over here to the bank all right so we travel over here the bank is a shared storage pace across all of your characters it's not like characters have an individual bank there's a any one of your characters can access this this bank that you have so you can simply go to the bank and you can so you just talk to the banker bank and you can deposit and withdraw items from your bank as you need if your bank space is not at maximum uh size you will also see a thing at the bottom that allows you to upgrade your bank size to be larger now bank space is not the only way to store items you can also store items in storage inside of your player house and that is again you can go to that storage on any one of your characters and access the items that you store in the trunk i just kind of want to cover this uh now with the banking section just simply because it has to deal with item storage now you can get these chests in a multitude of ways you can get them from the crown store you can buy them with telvar which is a currency from doing the imperial city dlc you could also get them from doing writ vouchers which is something that you acquire from doing uh like quest like crafting daily quests i'll be going over again those later in the video but there's a multitude of ways to get these chests and you can basically place them in any one of your player houses and you will have access to them for storage like i said across all of your characters and i thought i was doing a really good job at filling the load screen time here with chatter just trying to travel to my house talking about a variety of things but i'm gonna probably cut it right here and fast forward to when i'm actually at my chest but now as you can see i'm inside my house and i have these varied storage coffers so we have three right here and one big boy over there so if i go into the storage coffer you can see there's a ton of different items in here tons of items in here stuff in there i have nothing in this one yet and then i get i have a banker inside of my guild house so this is just another way that you can get some alternative storage that's shared across all of your characters besides just going to the bank [Music] the next thing that i'm going to cover is key binding so simply by pressing escape and clicking controls you are you are able to select whatever key binds you want for various actions inside of the game up to four different types of binds now i do recommend if you are on pc getting the photons keybinder add-on because for whatever reason eso does not have an account wide key binding selection so if you set up your keybinds for one guy and make a second character you will have to do it all over again so if you simply use an add-on like photons keybinder you'll be able to keybind all this stuff and share it across all of your characters now do not forget a lot of add-ons do require keybinds to actually be able to appear for example the combat metrics which is the dps counter that i use the fight report will not appear unless you toggle a key that will actually make it appear same thing with dressing room which is that add-on i use to switch my gear sets it won't actually appear unless i bind a key to it so if you have an add-on and you're like i can't find it i don't know where it is be sure to check the add-on key bytes to make sure that you need that you have a keybound to that specific add-on to make it actually appear the next thing that i'm going to cover is the outfit station because we all know we all know that fashion is end game so the outfit station is where you're able to customize the appearance of your character how your character looks and what their outfit looks like so you can find it in any major city for the most part and i'll go show you uh what the icon looks like you can find it right here you can see at the bottom of the daggerfall millworks outfit station and when you go to that outfit station you are able to use it and you have to select your outfit to outfit one and then you can assign any number of what are called motifs to your gear to make them look a certain way and motifs are acquired through a variety of ways in the elder scrolls online and they're tied very closely to your crafting profession so i will be going over motifs a little bit more in that section but basically motifs are just things that you collect to make your gear look a certain way so when you come to the outfit station any known motifs across your entire account are now accessible at the outfit station so you can make your helmets shoulders weapons whatever you want look a certain way and the cool part is you're not tied to let's say a certain weight so for example right now this guy's wearing heavy armor i can make it look like i'm wearing light armor if i want to um i can make my two-handed axe look like a two-handed sword i can make my uh one-handed base look like a dagger like you can you can customize it in that way no you cannot make your staff look like a sword it needs to be of the same skill line so for example i can't make my one-handed weapons look like big two-handed weapons it needs to be across the same skill line you could also dye your weapon to make it look a different color if you would like i highly recommend whenever you do the die sort by hue and not by rarity it makes your life infinitely easier so you're able to dye your armor to make it look a certain way now like i did mention earlier there is costume dying so this is what my character's outfit looks like but if i wanted to i could wear a costume instead that would overwrite my character's outfit so if i wanted to wear the nord hero armor i could put on the nordic hero armor and as you can see it overrides my current outfit and now if i wanted to change the colors of this as an eso plus member i could go to costume and hat dyeing and i could dye my outfit whatever color my uh my costume whatever color i would like now do keep in mind that every single time that you change your outfit and make a change it either costs gold or outfit change tokens which can be purchased on the crown store the next thing that i'm going to cover is way shrines and fast travel so waste shrines are basically the things that you use for fast travel in eso once you walk to a waste ride and discover it you can fast travel to that way shrine at any time so let's say you are not at a waist shrine and you want to travel to one you can just simply find one on your map click it and for a gold cost you will fast travel to that way shrine do keep in mind that successive waste shrine travels will cost more gold if you do not use another waste shrine to travel there so i'll be able to show you once i've actually successfully traveled to this one what i mean by that but if you use a waste shrine to travel from one to another it is free and then obviously as you saw it wasn't at a waste shrine so it had a gold cost but let's say now i go up so you guys you can see if i go up to this way shrine i can select another one for no fee but assuming i teleport the exact same way i just did and i want to teleport to another wayshrine as you can see it will cost 1100 gold that goes down over time so after a certain period of time i'll be able to teleport again for that 146 gold and the gold cost of your wage shrine travels does scale with your level so don't worry it's not going to be as expensive when you are level three and don't have any money so the higher level you get the more that those wage shrine uh travels will cost but way shrines are not the only way to fast travel there's a couple cheeky ways that you can fast travel so for example if you are in a guild you can look at any one of your guild members right so let's say i want to travel to deshawn i can right-click this member in my guild and click travel to player and of course as soon as i did that he went somewhere else so if i click travel to this guy i'll be able to travel to this guy for free but it will also raise the cost of my next fast travel not using a way shrine so just because you fast travel in this way does not mean you could use this to circumvent the gold cost no you don't spend any gold fast traveling in this way but if you try to fast travel like i said to a different waist shrine you know not teleporting to a player you know to a different waist shrine and not using a white shrine it will cost that extra gold cost as if you did fast travel with the gold cost i hope you kind of see where i'm going with that explanation i know it can sound a little confusing but hopefully that makes sense but besides just teleporting to other guild members you can teleport to group members in the exact same way so if you were if i was in a group of somebody i'll be able to right click hit travel to player and would be able to go to them so i definitely do recommend making sure you're in a guild for for easy fast travels it's really really nice to be able to right-click someone fast travel it'll put you near the nearest way shrine and then you can travel to wherever you want for free so it's a nice way to basically fast travel around the map without spending really any gold so it's a really nice way to do it but that is all the different ways that you can fashion travel you can actually one more way before i head off for this section you could also travel to your houses you can fast travel to houses so for example i have the rosy lion which is located in daggerfall it's like a little apartment so if i ever wanted to teleport to daggerfall instead of teleporting to the daggerfall away shrine uh you know maybe for a gold cost i could just travel to the rosie lion and that'll put me right in the heart of daggerfall so those are all the different ways that you could fast travel in the elder scrolls online the next section that i want to cover is the max level cp and scaling so in the elder scrolls online you're going to as you level up you're going to be going through level 1 through 50 and then the second you hit level 50 you're going to then enter the endgame progression system called champion points and then you will hit cp 10 giving you some champion points to use in each of these three categories now one thing that i also want to mention is that eso does have scaling in the game where the world will scale to you up until cp 160. so as let's say your level 45 and you want to play with a friend that's level 32 you guys can absolutely do that together because the game will appropriately scale to your guys's levels which is really really cool makes it easy for people to play together and all of this though causes scaling like i said up till cp 160. now cp 160 is an important number because that's out also where gear stops getting better so you're going to notice that as you're getting more gear the gear has levels that you know are between you know level one and champion point 160 and as you level up you'll notice that gear scales and that you know as you pick up more pieces as you're leveling up they'll always be your level but that like i said stops at cp 160 which i really do like with the elder scrolls online because that means there is no continuous geared treadmill once you are cp 160 you have the maximum level of gear and you will have that cp across your entire account by the way so because champion points are account wide so you can start earning max level gear for your entire account because gear can also be shared between characters which i think is super super cool and you don't have to worry about them ever changing this value with the way that the eso scaling works in the game there really wouldn't be a point for them to change this so cp 160 will always be our gear cap which i think is really cool but they did overhaul the cp system in flames of ambition uh which was the patch that came right before blackwood now if you want to deep dive into the champion point system you can feel free to click the link in the description below i have a deep dive guide into it but i do just want to give you guys a brief overview here for the complete beginner guide so that i can you know you have a rough understanding of how this system works so like i said once you get past level 50 you are going to be earning champion points now every time you level instead of regular levels with the colors alternating between red blue and green now in general red champion points tend to kind of favor your um you know recoveries reducing the cost of core combat skills um and some more defensive type mechanics on the flip side you got your warfare this includes most of your offensive and defensive uh champion point bonuses you also get these passive bonuses from here uh like i said this is more for kind of like sustained for your resources and reducing costs while this is actually more offensive a defensive and then crafting is actually more of an rp type of line where you have some quality of life stuff in here you have things specifically related to like thieving and stuff with the dark brotherhood so like the justice system and murder if you're so inclined um but this is basically like a quality of life type of line here now as you earn champion points here this is going to look a bit confusing but if you reading the tooltips will be really important here because if you read something like eldritch insight as we put points into this we are going to gain maximum magicka and this is passive as we put points into this we are just gaining that magicka hooray it's nice it's a nice passive bonus that we have but you're probably wondering what dots what is that bar at the top there are certain champion points that you actually have to slot them in order for them to become active so for example if we look at my unassailable star this reduces the damage taken from area of effect attacks by two percent per stage and this has five stages every 10 points for a total of 10 percent and so for this actually to be active though i need to drag it up to this champion point bar because if we look over here with arcane supremacy if i was to put points in here look at that line at the bottom it says add to champion bar to activate so if i don't add this to my champion point bar i will get no benefit from this star so that means that there's going to be a different combination of stars that you want that give you all of your passive bonuses for example blessed is a passive star eldritch inside's a passive star tireless discipline etc as you look through like i said if it's a if it doesn't say that you need to add it to the champion bar to activate it it's passive okay and then like i said you could have up to four slotted stars for each category that will obviously vary based off of your roll whether or not you're pvp pve or maybe playing solo you know same type of thing for red as we can see this reduces the cost of roll dodge um this reduces the cost of that cc break it's just called break free um we also have something like this over here this reduces the cost of block while if we look at one of my slottable stars um this gives me more health magic and stamina recovery and i have to actually slot this in order to gain it and at the moment like i said you can only slot four per color although this may change in the future now there they did just do something though with the maximum level in eso um it was originally you needed a lot of cp to actually get max effectiveness i think it was somewhere upwards of like i think 20 100 or something like that in flames of ambition but they did lower it with uh blackwood and now it's i think more around the 16 1700-ish mark uh so it's still quite a bit of points but it's definitely not nearly as bad as it used to um and they also did i'm on the um the flames of ambition patch servers right now but they are you'll notice that some of these values are slightly different they did also reduce the amount of bonus that you gained from some of these stars these passive ones um so it makes it it will make it easier for new players to catch up so do not think that if you are you know let's say cp 500 and someone's cp 700 they're not gonna have like a gross um power advantage over you and thankfully the good thing is that eso runs double xp events all the time so it will be relatively easy to grind up your champion points and like i said i also do have a grind guide on my youtube channel if you do want to take a look at that link will be in the description below something else to note with the champion point system though is that you do need to gain the points in a certain order so for example you're going to notice that you need to st you will only start with these couple of passive stars now once you put points into them you see that they have these lines that connect to other stars now you need to hit at least one stage and a star boom to be able to unlock the stars next to it so now i can put points into bless so for example i want to access all these points up here i'd have to get one stage of bless and bam i can get these stars up here now you're gonna notice that there's a couple of these like uh sub trees in here so for example i have 10 here but i have the sub tree here before i can get to these three stars so we just go into here and again same thing you just need one stage so we'll get the one stage of offensive penetration and then i can unlock these other sub stars or i can go back up and i now have access to these three stars over here so that's just something also to keep in mind with actually when you start placing your champion points to try to place them in an order that allows you to unlock the bonuses that you would like to unlock but that's just a brief overview guys over the champion point system max level and scaling in the elder scrolls online our next section is going to cover vampire versus werewolf versus mortal which you should use why you should use them and how to get them so vampire now it used to typically be a more uh passive experience where you would kind of get vampirism for some additional passive bonuses to your character with only a couple active skills it was like two active skills and an ultimate so it was mainly a passive skill line but now zenimax has made a vampirism its own experience with you getting a full skill line with five active skills and an ultimate as well as its own set of passives now you might be wondering well which type of people are going to want to use vampirism now vampirism is going to be used by anybody who wants to play as a vampire i know that seems pretty obvious but vampire will have some pretty um severe drawbacks attached to it um because along with being a vampire you know you can't just get this great skill line without having some sort of pat drawback otherwise everybody would just be a vampire now the way that vampirism works now is that you're able to feed on targets around the world and pc play uh npcs you can feed on them and basically increase your power as you feed on these npcs and you could upgrade your vampire stage so higher stages will make you a stronger vampire at the cost of your humanity and the stages will decrease over long periods of time so if you want to keep your vampire stage high and there's four of them so if you let's say you want to stay at stage four you're gonna have to periodically feed to make sure that you keep your vampirism stage as high as possible now as you stage up there are going to be some drawbacks and they get a bit more severe as you stage up your health recovery will start at going down by ten percent at stage one thirty percent of stage two sixty percent at stage three and a hundred percent at stage four you will take five eight thirteen and twenty percent more flame damage as you stage it up your regular abilities aka your non-vampirism abilities will cost more uh costs more stamina and or magicka as you stage up your vampirism so it's gonna start at three percent and go all the way up to twelve percent and your vampire ability costs will go down though so the actual vampire skills will thankfully cost less starting at six percent cost reduction all the way up to 24 now do keep in mind that these numbers are subject to change from recording right now but you might be wondering why is the vampire stage so important well as you increase your vampire stage not only do these passives change from the fee from the feed passive but you also gain some other additional bonuses so for example dark stalker is a passive that you gain at stage one as you can see this passive strike from the shadows you get at stage two which gives you weapon spell damage as you come out of invisibility sneaker mist form which is a skill a blood ritual allows you to infect other players i will go over this in a second on death was stage three or higher reduces your damage taken by up to 30 percent based off of your missing health and then finally unnatural movement so while you're at stage four it reduces the cost of sprint by 50 and if you continuously spin for three seconds you will automatically become invisible which is pretty cool so you're going to want to stage up your vampirism if you want all of these passives so like i said basically as a vampire if you're a player considering to use vampirism you need to kind of take these drawbacks and these benefits into account if you're deciding if vampirism is something that's right for your character but you will be primarily uh be seeing vampirism now used by more magicka characters although stamina can take some advantage out of it because certain skills do cost health not a singular resource for example one of the morse of eviscerate will cost health one of the morphs uh both of the morphs of blood frenzy cost health um but you know these last skills that all cause magicka stamina won't get as much use out of so stamina only has like maybe one skill it could really use and if it wants to use the ultimate it can this is going to be definitely a more magical focus skill line also something to consider though for pvp is that certain skills from the fighters guild are going to deal more damage to you as a vampire and like it says here from the feed pass if you will be taking more damage from fire a lot more damage from fire while you are pveing and fire is a very common element in pve so it is something to consider now the other thing that we can be besides vampire is we can be a werewolf if we want to be now werewolf is a basically completely stamina focused line you will never be a werewolf as a magicka character um also with vampirism you're a vampire at all times you don't have to transform into anything you are your character is a vampire and those passive benefits and drawbacks will be active on your character at all time on the other hand as a werewolf you have to physically transform into a werewolf in order to gain any of the bonuses and the drawbacks from being a werewolf the main drawback from being a werewolf is that when you're in werewolf form you take extra poison damage as well as extra damage from fighters guild abilities and pvp as i mentioned earlier but if you're just chilling in human form and you're not transformed at all you will receive no benefits or no drawbacks so like i said werewolf is basically going to be used by somebody who wants to play specifically as a werewolf um as you saw when you played a vampire you still had access to your regular skill bar you still had access to uh you could still use skills from your class your weapons your armor because you're just walking around as a vampire but as a werewolf you need to physically transform into a werewolf in order to get these skills as you see you got a werewolf bar here so you're going to have to put these skills on that werewolf bar and physically transform into a werewolf in order to gain access to these skills you will not be gaining access to pounce as you can see outside of werewolf form if i even try to use it as you can see it's grayed out it requires that i be in werewolf form so i need to have it on this werewolf bar in order to actually use it so if you want to play with your regular weapons and everything then werewolf's not gonna be for you werewolf is for players who like i said want that full werewolf experience um it is it's good for it's pretty good for pvp and pve um again you need to want to use only these skills when you're playing as it will lock you out of your other weapon skill bars but one of the cool things about having the werewolf transformation slotted if you do choose to want to use it is that your stamina recovery is increased by 15 so let's say you don't have a need for another ultimate on any of your bars feel free to slot this just for a huge 15 boost now you might be wondering okay well those sound great those sound awesome but what about just playing as a mortal what if i don't want to play as a vampire or a werewolf you absolutely do not have to neither one of these are really a requirement anymore it's just like a bonus that you can get on your character if you want it so if you want access to those vampire abilities and to truly play as a vampire character you can play as a as a vampire you just need to keep in mind that because the vampirism is going to increase the cost of a lot of your non-vampire skills it's going to be a lot more difficult to use your regular skills when you're just running about you can leave yourself at stage one if you want to but you do need to keep in mind that your vampire skills will be more expensive um because you won't be staging up your vampires and you will not be gaining access to really any of the passives from vampirism you'll only be gaining access to some of the active skills it's really up to you how you want to manage that so you can either stay at stage one and not really have any of the drawbacks and just use some of the skills but not get any passives or you could stage it up and go for the full vampire experience werewolf is going to be used if you want to play as a werewolf and then you'll just simply play immortal if you don't want to use any of those two skill lines it's really up to you to choose how you want to build your own character now if you do decide hey i don't want to be a vampire or a werewolf anymore i've contracted these diseases and i don't want to be these anymore how do i cure it you can't go to any of the mages guild it will be priests of rk i believe it is talked about in the back of the mages guilds uh in any of the big cities and you can go talk to them and they will cure it now before you can even get it cured you have to get it in the first place and there's a multiple number of ways to get it you can buy it off the crown store but i do not recommend doing that it costs about 1500 crowns when you're not on the pts i believe to purchase these skill lines do not recommend doing that because there is a passive in both the vampire and the werewolf skill lines that allow you to bite another player and infect them with the either the vampire disease or the werewolf disease as long as you go to a vampire or werewolf shrine with that player and typically players in guilds and in zone chat will be more than happy to help infect you your character so that you can get the skill line for yourself and then you're going to get a quest that you have to do and bam your characters all set up to go do not pay for a werewolf or a vampire bite if anybody tries to charge you they are a rude dude it's really not common practice anymore so do not pay anybody asking for money there are plenty of people in this game who will do it for free it's really bad practice to ask anybody to pay um or there are also like npc mobs like certain werewolves and certain uh vampire characters in the world that can cause you to contract the disease a quick search online will tell you which those specifically are but honestly it's just infinitely easier to ask a guildy or add somebody in zone chat hey i'd like a vampire werewolf fight can you help me out um so those are just some things to consider about vampire versus werewolf like i said the skill lines have changed a lot since previous iterations of eso the uh werewolf has kind of always been its own self-contained thing to play as and it's pretty much stayed that way and vampire was always something that you could add on to your characters but it really is not that way anymore it is its own experience similar to werewolf um like i said some players are just staying at stage one to use like maybe one or two skills and not utilizing any of the passives but ultimately it's up to you if that's how you want to play go for the full vampire experience or just not use any of these and play as a regular character without using any of these skill lines and having to suffer from their drawbacks the next thing that i'm going to cover is rededication shrines aka character respecting one of the biggest questions i get is dots i place the skill point where i don't want it is my character ruined do i have to delete it and start over no you can respect and move your points around by coming to one of these shrines inside of any of your capital cities so i'm talking morton holds for the ebbin heart pact we are talking eldon root for the all married dominion as well as uh way rest for the daggerfall covenant and when you go into uh you can see on the map here there's this symbol rededication shrine you will see these three shrines and these shrines will basically allow you to redo your points so i'm in morton holds right now and the the specific shrine names are different based off your capital but if i go to the shrine to soon i can make a donation a generous donation to redo my skills or just my skill morphs now the way it used to be is if you wanted to redo your skills it would basically wipe out all your skill points and you have to redo everything again but now if you want to redo your stuff you hit let's say skills and you can pick and choose which points you want to change how you want to move things around and then when you can confirm you can just pay a modest gold fee and you will be able to redo your points now do keep in mind the more skill points you are redoing the greater the cost which is why you know if you want to redo your skill points at level 7 it's not going to be 11 000 gold for you it's the more points you have and the more points you will actually be reassigning the greater the gold cost now if i also go to i don't want to talk to you again if i also want to go to here the shrine to kind i could redo my attribute points if i so desired and then finally the shrine tamara is basically used for um marriage in the game so let's say you guys have a scroll of mara and you and another character come to this round of mara you two can get married i know you'll also get rings of mara which also give you a 10 xp boost but that is the rededication shrine and how you redo your points the next thing that i'm going to cover is dungeons in the elder scrolls online so dungeons are four player instances that have one tank one healer and two dps and you unlock these at level 10 and there's a ton of different dungeons in the game there are two difficulties as well normal difficulty and veteran difficulty so you can think of this as kind of like a normal dungeon and a heroic from uh world of warcraft so when you are a lower level obviously you will only have access to some of these normal dungeons and then as you begin to progress into your champion point levels you will unlock some of these veteran dungeons to do as well but like i said they're just four player instances where you go and you you know it's like a dungeon from any other mmorpg where you go and you fight ad packs you fight your bosses finally you have your big final boss and boom you get some rewards from it now you can also do just you know like normally you could do a random normal dungeon per day or a random veteran dungeon per day and get you a huge boost to your experience or and so a package of premium undaunted exploration supplies so as you are leveling up throughout the game i recommend doing at least your random normal dungeon every single day so that you can get that big boost to experience as well as that great batch of supplies to help your character not only level up but get some really good loot along the way and dungeons are also a really good way to acquire gear so as you are leveling up your crafting professions which i'll go over a bit later in the video you can get tons of gear that you can deconstruct for materials and that also will cause you to gain a ton of experience so it's a really really really good way to do some leveling also dungeons are incredibly fun uh the veteran dungeons also the final bosses all have a hard mode so you can basically increase the final difficulty of the final boss which will give you an extra challenge if you and your team want to take it on and especially the dungeons that come out in the dlc's a couple times a year those ones tend to be the most challenging of all and will uh will push you and your group mates to the limit in terms of uh actually fighting stuff and working together so like i said four player dungeons one tank one healer two dps is the traditional uh the traditional makeup of a group and it's you know your normal dungeon from any other game you could also queue up for the dungeons themselves so you can queue up for individual specific dungeons if you would like or like i said just toss yourself into the random queue but you could also travel to the dungeons manually if you so desire you can see them on your map for example this dark shade caverns one and two here so if i wanted to i could travel to this dungeon with my group without going through the q system now something else to note i just got this asked a lot in my streams and i actually wanted to amend this to this section before i move on there is no like maximum number of times you can run a dungeon in a day you can do a dungeon on a limited amount of times if you want to it's not like wow where you can only do a dungeon x number of times per day or you get raid locked out of trials or anything which i'll cover in the next section you can do trials and dungeons as many times per day as you'd like the next thing that i'm going to cover is trials so trials are the elder scrolls online's version of the raid that you would see from other games so the way that trials worked in eso is that there are 12 members in a trials group and the ratio of tanks to healers and dps does kind of vary from trial to trial but the general rule of thumb is going to be two tanks two healers and eight dps some uh trials require three tanks some trials only require one and you kind of flex in and out the dps as needed but they are 12 man groups so it's basically like for those of you who have no idea what a raid is from another game it's basically like a hard dungeon that i described in the previous section so dungeons are you know four player things that you have to tackle together you know where you have to dive in and take out all these different mobs and take off the bosses and picture that but just harder and that's what a trial is and there are two types of trials in the elder scrolls online there's a full trial as well as the more arena style trials now full trial is basically like i said a super hard dungeon with different mob packs that you have to take on you have uh different bosses that you have to fight etc the arena trials on the other hand generally have no to minimal ad packs and mainly focus on the boss fights and for those trials you can choose to either take on each boss individually or go straight to the final area and fight all of the bosses at the same time so obviously the the higher number of bosses you choose to fight in that final fight the harder that encounter will be now there is no cue system for trials like there is for dungeons you basically just have to find a guild or a group and get together and go and do the trials and obviously uh finding a guild is a really easy way to to get into trials or you could go into craglorn zone chat and ask for um ask for people to to run trials there's always pickup groups going and also similarly to dungeons there is a hard mode for the veteran modes as veteran and normal trials and the hard mode for veteran is exactly what it sounds like the final boss will be much more difficult have more mechanics have more health more damage etc that you have to take on so like i said trials 12 members usually it's two tanks atps and two healers and it is basically your raid for the elder scrolls online the next thing that we are going to cover is synergies so synergies are ways that group members can interact with certain skills casted by allies so just to show an example of that we have the standard of might from the ardent flame line of the dragon knight class and if you look at that last paragraph it says an ally near the standard can activate the shackle synergy dealing 10k flame damage enemies in the area and immobilizing them for five seconds so basically it's just a way that allies can interact with skills that you cast now not all skills have synergies that will denote in the tooltip whether or not it has a synergy and a basically like a prompt will come up on your allies screen that says you know it'll say like the default keybind that you have and it'll say shackle and you can click it and it will use this energy so i absolutely recommend using synergies when they pop up since they just add a ton more damage to your group as well as can also offer some defensive properties or resource sustain the next thing i'm going to cover is the justice system inside of the elder scrolls online so just like other elder scrolls games you don't always have to be the hero and be the good guy you can go on a large murdering spree or become a thief and steal stuff from people and generally be a more uh villainous type of character but obviously if you do that it will come with some consequences so if you trespass and get caught by somebody or if you steal something you will accrue a gold bounty and the item that you steal will be marked as a stolen good then if you get accosted by a guard you could either choose to fight and flee or you can just pay the bounty and lose those stolen goods but uh doing other things like obviously murdering somebody in the center of a town where everyone sees will cause the guards to be attack on site your bounty will be a tad bit higher and you will have to basically die at that point in order to clear your bounty or wait until the attack on sight goes away and then you'll just be accosted like normally now don't think that just because if you choose to get killed by a guard you save the gold if you do die with that bounty on you and you have the gold available the gold will be taken from you automatically and the guards are insanely hard to kill you're not going to be solo in any guards they are basically impossible to kill so yeah you need to keep that in mind but if you get this huge bounty or you get all these stolen goods and you want to actually do something with them there is a place you can go to and that is the outlaws refuge which is noted by this icon on the map so if you go to the outlaws refuge there are fences in the outlaws refuge that you can talk to that you can sell your stolen go goods to because just like in skyrim and other games your more trustworthy merchants don't want your stolen items but if you want to sell them to a fence you can absolutely do that to get some gold for those items or you could also launder the items and keep them for yourself also you could come to the outlaws refuge and have them pay off your bounty for you if you don't want to pay it to the guards and lose all your stuff because if you pay off the bounty of the guards you do lose your stuff but if you want to be able to just you know keep that stuff but you know not constantly be attacked then you could talk to the fence and do it for you so store a fence and like i said you can just sell or launder laundry lets you keep the item selling you basically allows you to sell and there is a cap though on an item of num uh items that you can sell or launder per period of time so that is something to keep in mind but uh that is basically a quick overview of the justice system as well as the outlaws refuge obviously no one here in the outlaws refuge will attack you so if you have a bounty this is a safe place to go there's also a lot of them there's banks there is a general goods merchants there are some guild traders as well uh which i went over in an earlier section but and do keep in mind that certain necromancer skills will anger justice npcs and cause you to be attack on sight and accrue a bounty but those skills have a note on them that tell you whether or not it will cause you to anger a justice npc the next thing that we are going to cover is housing eso has a really robust player housing system that in my opinion is very very very well done and people get super into housing there are literally people in the game whose entire end game journey is just making houses so you can do a ton with this system you could also use houses that basically act as a guild headquarters as well so it by allowing guild members to travel to and from your house so it's a really really robust system that has a lot to offer so if you want to take a look at houses you do have you go to your collections go to the housing tab and you can see houses that you've collected and houses that you have not you can also go to these houses and preview them and see what they look like furnished and unfurnished and speaking of that you can buy the house either furnished or unfurnished with either gold or crowns so obviously the ones that are furnished will be a bit more expensive than ones that are not most houses are available for either um gold or crowns uh but some are crowns only something to keep in mind uh and some also require an achievement in order to purchase them so again something to something to keep in mind but you can get really really really robust with your uh with your houses you can actually put mundus stones in your house so if you wanna you know not have to travel all around the world in order to use a mundus stone you can put a bunch in your house you can also put target dummies in your house so i know that if you ever want to do like a damaged parse and see how much damage you're doing you can put target dummies inside your house you can also put crafting tables inside your house as well for the variety of crafting professions including specific set tables which allow you to craft certain item sets you can also in addition put a banker and a general merchant so you can put a banker and pc inside your house to allow you to access your bank you can also put storage chests which give you some more player storage inside your actual house similar to skyrim you can also like i said uh put like an outfit station inside your house you can put a transmutation station inside your house which i'll be going over a little bit later in the guide uh you can put the general merchant inside your house so if you want to uh sell stuff to the merchant you know that you have in your inventory you can feel free to do that so there's a lot that you can do with the housing inside of eso you can actually even put bus or um uh what's it called trophy statues from certain dungeons and raids that you've beaten you get certain crown store exclusive statues that you can put inside your house you can also get a music box that will play certain songs from the elder scrolls online's soundtrack there's just a lot of different stuff that you can get you can really get crazy with customizing your house but like i said you want to check out the uh if you want to also get a free apartment you can get a free one as well there will be something on the crown store um i for it's like a free brochure that you can get if i go to my quest log i should still have it on this guy it's called i believe it's called the friend in need so if you see that questline in the crown store you can get a basic apartment in a city for free but like i said some of these larger more larger houses are going to have a gold cost or cost crowns but you can get really in depth with your eso player housing and there's a lot of variety and customization at your fingertips the next thing that we are going to cover is combat basics all the little basic things of combat so that you know what you're doing when you're actually fighting stuff so a lot of mistakes that i see people in eso make especially when they first start is they literally only use what's called light attacks it's just like left clicking your mouse and this is all they do they think it's like skyrim and they just left click until the cows come home okay there's more to eso combat than just using light attacks there are also skills that you have at your disposal which you can see on my bar here at the bottom so you can combine light attacks and skills to do a variety of different things place dots on people have good direct damage uh stuff like that in addition to light attacks uh light attacks will obviously deal some damage they will proc any enchants that are on your weapon so as you can see this guy has a flame enchant on his front bar staff and it will also cause you to generate ultimate which is the resource to cast ultimate so constantly putting light attacks inside of your rotation is extremely important now let's say for example let me burn some of my magicka here let's say you burn your magicka really really low okay and you're like man i don't have enough magic to cast my skills i'm not sure what to do you can do a heavy attack which you charge up by holding the left click and letting it go all the way through and as you can see you gain resources now stabs will cause you to gain magicka while melee weapons and bows will cause you to gain stamina upon their heavy attacks you can also do a medium attack which is like a halfway in between a light and heavy attack so it does slightly more damage than a light attack but doesn't restore the resources like a heavy attack does you also have blocking blocking is done by holding your right click and will mitigate damage coming into you as well as block many projectiles and cc so using block at key times is really important but do keep in mind that blocking does cost stamina as well as stop your stamina regeneration so as you can see my stamina is regenerating a little bit here but if i block it stops so you can't just sit and block forever and have your stamina continually regenerate it will stop regenerating while you're inside a block and obviously once you are out of stamina you can no longer block you can also do a dodge roll so dodge rolling will allow you to basically do exactly what it sounds like dodge incoming attack so if someone's trying to hit you with a long ranged attack or hit you with a hard-hitting melee attack you can dodge roll it and it will cause you to take no damage from it but you will obviously have to spend some stamina in order to do that and more uh concurrent dodge rolls will cost more and more so you can't just again roll across the entire map the more you dodge roll the more the cost is increased until these little green uh swirlies around your feet when they go away then your dodge roll is back to a normal cost so we have light attacks heavy attacks medium attacks blocking dodge rolling and also you have jumping so you can jump around you also have bashing aka interrupts so let's say you're going against a target here and you see some kind of like lines flaring out from the center of their body you can do what's called a bash and basically interrupt their cast bashing again costs stamina and will prevent them from uh in you know casting the skill that they are that they are doing bashing is also the exact same key for cc breaks so let's say your character is stunned and you press the bash key or the interrupt key which is noted by as the keybinds you can break free of any cc's that your character is under and for those of you who do not know what a cc is i'll be going over that in a later section but but that is the basics of combat and you also have your skills so that is the basics of combat you want to you know use all of these things together in order to create a basic flow of combat now we're going to get into in a bit of an advanced tactic in the next session which is called animation cancelling but i recommend that everyone learn animation canceling from their first starts inside of eso so you can build good habits while going through your questing journeys that come end game you will be ready to play at the best of your abilities the next section that i'm going to cover is animation canceling animation canceling is extremely important to basically squeeze out as much damage out of your character as physically possible and it's something that i recommend that you try to practice from day one now i want to dispel a common myth about animation cancelling first it is not cheating plenty of games have animation cancelling in them and i'm not sure why this huge belief that in eso it is considered cheating when the game was originally designed by zos animation canceling was not an intended feature that they had but when they built their engine and put it together they noticed that animation cancelling was a thing and instead of trying to remove it they just embraced it and realized that it basically adds a certain skill cap to their combat and allows you to the best of players to make to make and complete multiple actions with inside a global cooldown so with all that fancy jargon out of the way animation canceling is exactly what it sounds like you basically end an animation first before it goes through its whole thing and you still get your intended desire so for example you can cancel light attacks so instead of doing this whole uh this whole action here where you bring your staff forward and bring it back you can cancel off the second part of that animation with another action to basically optimize the number of things you can do in a certain time period so i think it'll be better if i explain it as well so we're going to go over some different types of animation canceling here the first one and the most important is light attack animation cancelling it's basically where you cancel a light attack with a skill so you would basically at normal speed this is what it would look like if you did an animation cancel light attack skill light attack skill as you can see it's pretty slow but if you cancel the animation so if you use the skill very soon after the light attack it cuts off that whole entire back part of the animation and look how much quicker it is you could also do a similar thing with heavy attacks or right before the heavy attack's about to go off uh you're about to bring your staff forward you could also click a skill as well now besides light attack animation and heavy attack animation canceling there also is weapon swap canceling which i believe is the second most important type of animation cancelling where you can cancel a light attack or a skill with a weapon swap so you can go skill weapon swap skill weapon swap but if you did that at full speed it would look like this skill weapon swap skill weapon swap you see how much slower that is then if you were to cancel the animation and squeeze it inside of a cooldown you could also combine the previous two that i mentioned so you can do a canceled light attack with the skill and then combine that with a weapon swap so you can do light tech skill weapon swap see how quick of that all happens so that's why learning this at from an early level is important but in my opinion these are the two most important ones is light attack cancelling and weapon swap canceling those will make any player way more efficient than those who are not but i'll go over some other ones here as well we also have block canceling so you could use a skill and then block skill and then block so it'll cancel off the second part of that animation you also have dodge roll cancelling so you can use a skill and then dodge roll so as you can see instead of using a skill and then dodge rolling you can do skill dodge oh except for amount of stamps you can use skill dodge roll you see how it makes it a bit quicker and like i said you can combine all of those various things with the light attack canceling so you can if you want to do white tech skill dodge roll you see how quickly all that happens as opposed to if you were to go light attack skill dodge roll except roman stan you know so being able to animation cancel will just allow you to do things much quicker so we did light attack into skills uh skills into weapon swaps skills into blocks skills into dodge rolls i already said weapon swap and we also have skills into bashes so you can do a skill into a bash skill into a bash all right so you could also use bash to cancel skills and any single time i've mentioned that you can cancel a skill with something you can also cancel a light attack with it so if you want to you can always light attack weapon swap but generally the most efficient way to do it is to use a light attack into a skill into another action for the animation cancelling but like i said the most common one that you will do as 99 of players that what you're going to want to do is mainly focus on the light attacks and the skills and the skills into the weapon swaps if you can nail those two things down you will be a very efficient player and much further ahead of those who are choosing to not learn how to cancel their animations the next thing that i want to cover really quickly is soul gems and why they are so important now you get soul gems from doing a wide variety of things from completing dungeons to getting it in your undaunted package from uh their your random normal per day but soul gems are extremely important because they allow you to resurrect any character of any level so if someone you know one of your friends dies near you and you have a soul gem you can use that soul gem to revive them or if you die yourself out in the world you can use your soul gem to revive yourself at your current location if you do not have any soul gems on you another player will have to revive you or you will have to revive at the nearest way shrine soul gems also allow you to keep your weapon enchantments because you can enchant your weapons with um enchants to make them deal more damage it enchants uh it can recharge those enchants because as you can see as you can see there's a little bar above that fiery weapon enchant i have when that runs out i will no longer have an inch an enchantment on my weapon or basically it won't proc but i could use the soul gem to recharge the weapon enchantment and it will be firing off so you never really need to buy these if you're just running dungeons regularly you will have a ton at your disposal but i just wanted to go over these really quickly so that you guys know how important soul gems are to keep on your character and acquire at all times this next section is going to cover a lot of different things we're going to be going over the basics of crafting certification research set bonuses and motifs so the first thing we're going to start with is the crafting basics there are a total of seven different crafting professions in the elder scrolls online we have alchemy which deals with the creation of potions blacksmithing which deals with heavy armor and metallic weapons clothing which deals with medium and light armor enchanting which deals with creating enchants for armor weapons and jewelry jewelry aircrafting obviously the crafting of jewelry provisioning is the creation of buff food and buff drink and we also have woodworking which is the creation of stabs and shields now to unlock any of these crafting professions the best way it is to just go to a town and interact with the various crafting tables once you interact with these crafting tables you will unlock that crafting skill line and you can see everything for the skill line in terms of the passive bonuses that you can unlock now the basics behind the crafting will start with uh woodworking blacksmithing and clothing and jewelry crafting is that there are raw materials and you have to basically take these raw materials and refine them into refined materials then using these refined materials you can create a bunch of different items and the more of the type of material you use the higher the level the piece of gear is up until a certain point then you have to go to a new material and as you can see each you know the new materials correspond to a certain level of uh sort of a certain level range of of item then once you have the refined materials and you choose what type of item you want to make you have to use a style material and the style material determines what the actual gear piece looks like and that's where motifs come in motifs are basically these little chapters or books that you have to read that make certain gear pieces look a certain way so for example if i have the aldmeri dominion style i can craft gear that looks of the style of aldmeri dominion but i have to use the actual motif to learn the style and then use the style material to create a piece in that style also once you learn a motif from a certain crafting style you can then use that motif in the outfit system which i went over in an earlier section and that will be unlocked across your entire account and you do not need the style materials for that you just simply need to obviously like i went over in that section pay some gold but if you want to actually craft a item looking a certain way then you need the style material after that you have trait material so you can craft gear with a certain trait now traits i went over a little bit earlier basically are kind of um bonuses that your weapon or armor gives to you now to create an item of a certain trait you need to have the actual trait material and you can create the item of that trait but even before that you need to do what's called research and you need to research that gear tree in order to be able to craft with that gear trait now to research an item you need to basically acquire an item with the gear trait that you want to research let's say training for example if i want to create a training bow i need to acquire a training bow and then basically bring that bow to this crafting table go to the research tab click on the uh training it'll say researchable over here and then i can research training for bose but it will destroy that bow in the process so it's really important though early on to save up as many different items for researching as possible because doing research from day one is incredibly important and the reason being is that the research timers get very very long the more traits you have research so for example the first trait might only take six hours the second one might only take 12 but your final trait for a certain gear type will take up to 30 days in order to research so it's extremely important to get this started as early as possible as well as keep a banked uh like to keep items banked to research because you can research items straight from the bank it's not like you have to have all this stuff sitting in your inventory at all times now research and knowing gear traits also goes hand in hand with creating set bonuses now what are set bonuses so set bonuses are exactly what they sound like bonuses that you get for wearing more than one piece of a set so for example my magic dragon knight wears burning spell weave if i wear one piece of burning spell weave i don't get any benefit besides just the trait and the enchant if i wear two pieces i get a line of maximum magicka if i wear three pieces of burning spell weave i get spell damage if i wear four i get spell critical and if i wear five pieces of burning spell weave i whenever i deal damage the flame damage ability i have a 15 chance to apply the burning status effects to an enemy and increase my spell damage by 507 for eight seconds and this is a set that i got from a dungeon but you can also craft gear items with gear set bonuses but in order to craft an item with a certain gear set bonus you need to have a certain number of traits known so for example if i wanted to create a set of the julianos gear set which gives two lines of spell critical a line of max magicka and a big line of spell damage i would need to have six traits known for every single gear piece that i was trying to create with giuliano's so for example if i am trying to craft that we'll just use woodworking for our example here if i was trying to create a giuliano's inferno staff i would need to have six different traits known to even be able to create a giuliano staff in the first place and then actually have the trait that i want to create the item with note if then if i wanted to create a nice staff i would need to have six different ice staff traits research etc etc so that is why researching from the beginning is extremely important and research also plays into the transmutation system which i will be going over a little bit later in this video now in terms of certifications to get certified in a certain crafting profession this will allow you to do a daily quest called a writ and a writ basically gives you inspiration points which allows you to uh which is basically the experience line for crafting uh gaining inspiration means that your crafting gets leveled up and if you do these ritz daily they will give you some they'll cost some materials will give you some gold back some other materials and stuff and it'll give you that inspiration points and it also when you do the um when you do the training for the certifications you learn the basics about the different types of crafting professions so i would recommend going to uh the mages guild and talking to danelle toleno in order to get the research uh in order to get certified for alchemy provisioning and enchanting then you can go to millinette at the fighters guild to get certified for woodworking blacksmithing and uh clothing and then you can go to uh the rit area inside of eleanor in somerset in order to get uh there'll be an npc there that will have a quest that will give you the uh certification for jewelry crafting and you can learn the basics about the different professions there but so that you know i explained how woodworking uh blacksmithing and clothing work they all work relatively similarly uh the way that alchemy works is you need to simply combine multiple ingredients together as well as a solvent in order to create a potion so very very simple then with provisioning you need to own you need to have a recipe known and then acquire and then use a bunch of different ingredients within that recipe to actually create the food that you need and food is extremely important for your character buff food gives your character a lot of bonuses extremely important for endgame power and then you also have enchantments uh enchanting which basically is the combination of a bunch of different runes i can show you some in my craft bag here if you go and combine a bunch of different rune types so you have the uh an essence rune a potency rune and an aspect rune and then if you use one of each types of these you will be able to create a an enchant for your gear and like if you want a more in-depth look at crafting i have a complete crafting guide on my youtube channel that i definitely recommend checking out this video here i'm just kind of going over the a brief overview of crafting here but i will say that the best way to level alchemy is to actually create potions the best way to level provisioning is to create um food but for jewelry crafting enchanting woodworking clothing and blacksmithing the best way is deconstruction so basically you take the items that you don't need from research and you deconstruct them basically you turn them down into raw materials and that is the most efficient way to level up these professions so all that gear that you get from running your dungeons and your quests that you don't need deconstruct them don't just vendor them deconstruct them in order to level up your crafting and now a common question i always get is dots do i need a separate crafting character for my main you absolutely absolutely do not your main can 100 be your crafter so basically what you want to do is focus on getting the skill points that you need for your main build passive skills etc and then you can take the rest of them and funnel them into your crafting professions if you so desire even if you don't want to be a crafter though like i said i recommend at the very least doing the researching for jewelry crafting woodworking blacksmithing and clothing because of the transmutation system which i will be going over later in the video the next thing that we are going to be going over is consumables and quick slots so in addition to the five abilities in the ultimate that you have available to you at all times are in combat you also have a quick slot bar which allows you to slot potions and other items that some could be used in combat and some can be used out of combat for example potions can be used while you are in combat it basically allows you to restore some resources get some nice buffs for your character they're very very very important for your end game power and are just a good thing to have so you can slot these potions on your quick slot so if you go to your bags for example and press the default keybind of q you are able to assign you see slottable items you can slot a bunch of different potions if you would like onto your bar in order to gain those benefits you could also slot buff food onto your bar as well which again is extremely important for your character's final power so you can put buff food on your quick slot bar so let's say you know you're in combat and your buff food wears off you can reapply it you can also put different uh vendors and merchants for example you can buy a banker as well as a general merchant from the crown store and you can put those on your quick slot so that let's say you know you're out and adventuring and you go oh i need to access my bank you could just hold q navigate to your banker summon the banker and he's there and then dismiss so very very simple you could also put siege here for when you're fighting in cyrodiil i will be going over pvp in a bit but you can put siege here as well so that you can quick access the siege inside of combat but that is a quick overview of consumables and quick slots you have your potions that you can quick slot you have your buff food you also have different convenience items such as the banker as well as siege but if you want you could explore some other things here that you can put onto your quick slots but like i said bags press q that gives you access while you're out in the world if you want to change hold cue and you can select using the mouse from your different quick slot items and these quick slots do have a cooldown so it's not like you can just use them um all the time the quick slot potions have a cooldown uh of 45 seconds but otherwise you know stuff like siege the banker and food does not but it is something to keep in mind when you are using potions from your quick slot menu the next thing that i'm going to cover is the major minor buff system in the elder scrolls online and this is a very important system to understand if you want to know how buffs and debuffs work there's two types of buff types and two types of debuff types we have major and minor major it basically is a lot of an effect and minor is basically just a little of an effect but you can only have one instance of any particular major buff on you at the same time just as you can only have one instance of any minor buff on you at the same time and i think a better way to explain this would be to actually give you an example so if we look at volatile armor from my draconic power skill line from being a dragon knight when i cast a skill i get major resolve and major ward which increases my physical and spell resistance by 50 to 80 for 20 seconds now i can't have four instances of major resolve on myself at the same time giving me 20k spell resistance doesn't work that way you can only even if i switch to slot five skills that gave me major resolve for some reason i would still enroll casted all of them i would still only get 50 to 80 resistance you could only have one instance of that major resolve buff on you at once okay and it's the same thing for debuffs if i was to use a debuff such as uh let's just use minor or major defile uh do i have a skill off the top of my head let's just say major defile major defile basically will reduce your healing taken by thirty percent now you can't hit someone with three different major to file debuffs and make their healing reduce them by 90 percent you can only have one instance of that major to file debuff active on the same time but you can't have a major and a minor so for example if i again we're going to talk with volatile armor 5280 i could also have minor resolve and minor award which increases my physical and spell resistance i believe it's like 13 20 or 1380 so it's basically like a smaller version of this major buff but you can have major resolve and minor resolve or major ward and minor award but similarly to the major buffs you cannot have you know 15 different minor wards running on you at the same time only one instance so if it's a name so do keep this in mind that if it is a named buff like this you can only have one instance active on your character at the same time and it's extremely important to optimize your character by not overlapping with these major and minor buffs now i do want to say i want to mention this really quick there are one important buff for every of character and then one important puff for every stamina character you need to make sure that you get from somewhere when you get to end game for magicka that would be major sorcery wherever you choose to get that from whether it be potions or whether it be your gear you need to have an instance of major sorcery somewhere in your build as a magic of damage dealer increases your spell damage by 20 for 47.6 seconds from this skill or if you are stamina you want at least one instance of a major brutality somewhere on your bar so major brutality increases your weapon damage by 20 for 30 seconds it is incredibly crucial to your build to make sure that you have at least a form of this somewhere in your build so something to keep in mind while you are playing but that is just a quick overview of the major and minor buff system and i hopefully you guys understood how that system works [Music] the next thing that i'm going to cover is player versus player in eso eso has a bunch of different pvp modes you have a really large scale pvp you have dueling you have medium scale and more small scale so there really is something for everyone but the first one that i'm going to talk about is cyrodiil which is the big alliance war now as i talked about earlier in the guide there are three factions in eso and this is where the only time your faction matters you can only play with ebonheart pack people on the ebonheart packs ultimate dominion on the album dominion and daggerfall covenant on daggerfall covenant you cannot play cross faction because the factions are obviously fighting each other so if you go take a look at cereal this is what the map looks like so if your ep will be starting at the top right dc the top left and aed will be the bottom now the way that it works is that you obviously have these keeps are different colors based off of your faction red for ep blue for dc and yellow for aed and the goal of the alliance war is to take as many keeps from the enemy as possible to then strengthen your hold on the map now what happens is as these keeps are connected you can actually travel to them so for example if i on ep i started the northern morrowind gate i could actually use a thing that is there called a transistor shrine which will allow me to move to any keeps that are connected so as we can see i can literally travel all the way to castle alessia simply by traveling through those transistors stones because they are all linked together now around each of these things as you'll be able to see are these things called um they're called resources and these resources will give the keep certain bonuses so taking the resources before you take the keep is also a good thing uh the resources also if you take all three of them you will then cut off travel to the keep so for example if uh dc right here comes from bleakers and takes these two other resources they will then prevent the ebonheart pact from traveling from let's say arius to chalmin because those lines won't be connected because they will have all three uh resources around them and as you can see by looking at the scoreboard here you get points and bonuses for keeps held outposts held which are just like buildings in between keeps resources which i just talked about and there's also elder scrolls that you can capture that give your faction certain passive bonuses so by capturing those elder scrolls and then bringing them back to these uh temples that are deep within your uh territory you will be able to actually gain bonuses you can also bring the elder scrolls to certain keeps but generally the temples are a safe spot because they're super deep in your territory now there's also as you can see there's bridges and there's also these things called gates which can be normally traversed across or through to get from point a to point b but these things can also be destroyed by enemy players and so if you though that does happen you might need to travel through this little path here but cereal is the big faction war you have siege weapons you can siege castles destroy walls breach them with um rams and stuff like this if you're looking for large-scale siege pvp where your season castles or having to defend a castle with counter siege this is gonna be a good pvp mode for you you can also get some cool rewards from pvp as well for example if we capture these six keeps that are around the imperial city which is here in the middle the faction that takes all of these keeps will have the emperor because they do own all the keeps surrounding the imperial city so whoever on your faction has the highest of the pvp currency which is uh called the alliance points you get alliance points for killing enemy players taking resources defending resources taking keeps defending keeps you get these points for doing those things and the person with the top number of points once you are crowned emperor as we can see we can see the emperor's status here um excuse me whoever has the top number points when you take these six keeps will be crowned the emperor you will get a bunch of like cosmetic rewards for that you also get a temporary skill line while you still hold these keeps that basically makes you insanely powerful there also are alliance ranks that give some rewards as well you get certain dies uh you get skill points for the alliance ranks so and you also get some icons next to your name which is a really cool thing to learn while you were doing the alliance war uh so now there's also different instances of cyrodiil there isn't just one there's a couple of different instances we have the alliance lock campaign which is going to be again if you go into this campaign you are locked to that campaign for your alliance so for example on my ebonheart pact character if i go into an alliance locked campaign i cannot play an old married dominion or daggerfall covenant character on this campaign for a campaign cycle same thing with uh so we also have the standard no cp you can join this on any character you want whether it be um eberhard pact daggerfall covenant or ultimate dominion there's no alliance lock on this but this also has no champion points enabled as we can see by the name the standard campaign is the exact same as the alliance locked campaign champion points are enabled to both these campaigns except for this one does not have the alliance lock and then the below level 50 is for people who are just that below level 50. there's also another uh type of pvp i did mention the imperial city you could also go there in pvp if you would like uh this it's basically a pvp ve zone really really fun you can get to some fun fights there uh one campaign has champion points enabled and one campaign has champion points disabled now you can also basically set one of these campaigns to be your home campaign or your base campaign and basically what a home campaign is is that is where you you basically contribute to the alliance war that is where you can also gain these points to try to get the emperor um if you do go into one of these other campaigns you can still gain alliance points you could obviously still help your faction but you will not be on the leaderboard for that faction so if you gain like all those alliance points you're not gonna have a chance to be crowned emperor you can only do that in your home campaign in the imperial city you also earned a currency i just want to mention this you want a secondary currency called tel var stones which can be used to buy a variety of things in your home base in the imperial city so if we go into here we can actually take a quick peek at the imperial city there's different districts that you can capture and as you capture these districts you get certain bonuses mortal bar earned and then you could also go into the sewers underneath is an entire sewer system underneath the imperial city and you can also kill things down there pve mobs to gain talvar or gank enemy players and there's also a a boss in the middle that can give you some pretty cool rewards if you're so inclined to go fight it and typically there can be some big fights down there now there's also 1v1 dueling if you simply walk up to another player and challenge them to a duel by holding the interact key which on pc at the base is f you can do that as well and then for smaller scale engagements there is also battlegrounds now battlegrounds are 4v4 v4 with multiple different game modes including deathmatch domination capture the flag basically chaos ball which is kind of like someone grabs the ball and you try to hold it as long as you can and then and you gain points as you hold it and then crazy king which is domination except for the points just constantly move around not really a big fan of that game mode but uh that is there too you also get some premium battleground supplies for your first daily bg the day as well some bonus experience now there's two types of bgs that you can queue for at the moment in time you can queue for random battlegrounds which will throw you just into the fray into any one of these game modes with any random teammate but there's also solo random battlegrounds now the cool thing about this is that um this is where solo players can queue again you get thrown into all these different game modes but you will only be thrown in with other solo players when you're in the random battleground mode you have a chance to also be put in with uh pre-mades so might not be the best unless you're also in a pre-made yourself um so if you're just playing by yourself and you want to guarantee to play with other just solo players you can simply play in the solo bgq also one thing to keep in mind is that in battlegrounds the champion point system is also disabled uh but you do also do gain alliance points in the battleground pvp just like you do in cyrodiil as well now one other thing to mention is that there also is an alliance war skill line there's two alliance or skill lens you have assault which also gives you some passive bonuses specifically when you are playing in cyrodiil um as well as support you get some other pvp bonuses here as well and these skill lines tend to be really really good for um a bunch of different things vigor is a really heavily desired skill for magicka based characters uh excuse me for stamina based characters as one of your primary heels um so i do recommend that as a new player you do go into ceredo and there is a tutorial when you first walk in the tutorial gives you some ap gives you a skill point as you basically pvp and gain more alliance points which increases your reliance rank as i mentioned earlier because to increase this rank you need to gain those alliance points you will then be able to unlock more of these skills and more of these passives to be able to use in your builds next section that i'm going to cover is transmutation so this was added in the clockwork city dlc and transmutation in my opinion is one of the best things that zoss has ever added to eso and this basically allows you to change the trait of a weapon gear piece or jewelry item so whenever you do various activities in the game you can earn these transmutation crystals and you need 50 of them to change the trait of an item so you can either go to the clockwork city and do uh get you know do the transmutation there or you can actually get a transportation station for your house and i'm in my house currently and you can transmute your items at that table so you basically need to interact with the transportation station and you can see your various items and you can transmute them so for example if i want to change the trait on my acts of hunting's rage uh actually i need to do a different one because that one's already known honed okay so we'll do i'll do my my bone pirates axe it's defending let's say i want to trade change it to something else once i have 50 transmutation stones i can basically choose from any trait that i have unlocked and i can change it now i mentioned in the crafting section that research is incredibly important for transmutation the reason that it is so important is because you could only trait change items to traits that you have researched so for example on this guy i only have nirnhoned axes known so i can't transmute to a sharpened axe i'd have to put this item in my bank log on to my crafting tune and transmute my uh this axe to sharpened if i wanted sharpened on my crafting tune so that that's why research is so important because even if you never want to craft if you ever are farming for this you know this item that's taking you forever to get and you get it and it's in the wrong trait and you don't have anything researched you're gonna be stuck with that bad trait instead of being able to transmute it to a better trait so make sure that you trend uh you do all your research so that you have all of your different traits known and like i said once you collect 50 stones up to a maximum cap of 200 if you have eso plus 100 if you do not you can then change the trade of your item and it will be shown by this icon if it is transmuted so you can't translate an item and then research it on another another character once you can transmute once you transmute it it's bound to you and the item is uh cannot be used for anything else like transmutation but or excuse me like research but this system is really really good makes farming items a lot easier and i definitely recommend uh always keeping a reservoir of transmutation zones for whenever you want to make a new set of gear the next thing that i'm going to cover is the best way to level up in the elder scrolls online so i am of the opinion that for a new player the best way to level up is to just quest i it's just how i how i believe like how i think i don't think it's a good idea as a new player to just straight up power grind your character to level 50 and start grinding up cp mainly because you know your first trip through an mmo you only get once you only get that first experience with you know that bit of wonder that you have from being in a new world and experiencing the story and learning your character like that that first time only happens once with it with a new mmorpg so i really recommend that you guys just you quest up your first time around go to the different zones explore some of the story you know cue your daily dungeons cue your daily battlegrounds and just have a good time and take your time it's no rush to end game eso is not a theme park mmo so there's so much you can do even as a lower level player it's it's the journey the leveling journey in eso is actually one of the best in my opinion it's not like wow where it's just like you know go get me 10 more husks like it's it's it's a lot better all the quests are voice acted you get involved in the story you have to make decisions in certain quests and whenever you make those decisions anytime you walk past certain npcs like hey you're the guy that did this so it just really adds to the rpg element of the mmorpg that is eso but if you're like that's gaming screw off i don't care i want a power grind and just get to the end of the game the best way to do it is to literally just kill mobs that is the fastest way to grind up now there are a ton of different grinding locations you can do so many different things any area that has a high density of mobs will be a really good spot to power grind your character especially if you are with a friend if you're with a friend you guys will gain an xp boost so as a group of two go out kill you know find a high density area of mobs and just kill them all and just literally do that until you're the level that you want to be uh you could also do dolmens as well if you do choose to do dolmens i recommend the al-aqir uh dolmen grind so you basically just go from here and you rotate either clockwise or counter clockwise it sometimes switches but you can just bounce between these three dolmens and they'll be a good way to gain experience power grinding through farming mobs is a bit better overland is better than instanced by the way and but dolmens is a good a secondary option for power grinding but i really do encourage you if you're a new player to to give the leveling process a try through questing it i think you'll have a much greater time that way and plus i think you'll learn your character a little bit better if you actually just progress you know pick up the skills slowly get your passives you know kind of quest out you know and play with your skills as opposed to just power grinding getting to the next level with all these skills and being like i don't know what to do plus whenever you do choose love with requesting you're going to discover lore books throughout your questing adventures sky shirts are at requesting adventures way shrines throughout your questing adventures and if you're just power grinding you have to do all of those grinds separately uh after after you just do your power grind so that is something to keep in mind also i did mention the guilds in an earlier section make sure you pick up your major skilled fighters building undaunted first thing when you create a character i want to mention that here in this section just so that you know people here are looking for good ways to level make sure that you che you get those three guilds first since they're very instrumental to your character's power and it's going to be easier to get them leveled up while you're leveling than if you just try to if you grind them separately afterwards it can be kind of a pain trust me i've done it before and it can get pretty boring but hopefully uh you know you guys choose whatever leveling process works best for you and that you think you'll enjoy most and these are some of the best ways to level up in eso the next thing that i'm going to cover is the best way to make gold in eso there are so many different ways to make money in this game there there are there are tons of different ways and i'm not gonna say like there's one necessarily best way there's one this one that like there's so many different ways in this game that you can make gold but the one thing i do want to highlight is doing ritz that i did mention those daily crafting quests that i mentioned in the crafting section doing ritz is incredibly important especially once you're a max level crafter because you can get a ton of different materials from doing ritz that you can sell for a good profit you could also get these things called master ritz that are really really heavily desired by end game crafters and you can sell those for a pretty penny so doing your ritz every day is extremely important for gold generation you could also do item flipping i have a guide on my youtube channel about item flipping it's no surprise that in an mmo that there's a very good way of making money in an eso there's tons of add-ons that make it easier as well so you can go check out that guide if you want to learn how to flip items you could also just farm raw materials i have a couple different farming routes as well on my youtube channel and website that you could check out um and then you know you can get you know sell motifs that you loot from various places that you get from dungeons you can turn your ap into various motifs or gear pieces as well and sell those there there's an infinite amount of ways to make money but especially while you're leveling i just recommend you know selling ornate items which are items that can be vendored for a higher amount and while you're deconstructing items um and you're getting all of these nice uh crafting materials stuff that you feel that you don't need feel free to just sell it on a guild trader and you can make some good money throughout your leveling process but let making golden eso is it's a wide range of things to do so just find your favorite method pick it and go and go run with it but these are some of my favorites personally the ones that i mentioned here you could also farm talvar inside of imperial city if you are at the end of the game in pvping so if you want to see a talvara farming guide you can check out my youtube channel as well so check i i just recommend you check out the guides on my youtube channel and you know listen to some of the other stuff i recommended in this section and you'll be sitting on a nice pile of gold in no time so for this section guys i want to go over builds leveling builds pve builds pvp builds and solo pve builds and which ones you should use so on my website dotsgaming.com i have a wide variety of builds like i said solo pve builds root based pve builds pvp builds and leveling builds and coming with blackwood i will have companion builds at some point as well now i like i said have a wide variety if you simply come to my website and go to the eso tab here and then scroll down you can see the variety of different build uh categories and then you can just basically come down and pick whichever builds you're looking for now one thing i do want to mention specifically with my leveling build here is that my leveling builds are a little bit non-traditional compared to other leveling builds i personally think static leveling builds are kind of pointless uh you don't really i think need to follow one specific path while you're leveling and i think you should instead be experimenting and trying and leveling up a variety of skills in the game and that is what my leveling guides do they give you the optimal race that you should be playing a bunch of race choices good gear combinations to try on what your attributes should be if you should be playing vampire or mortal or werewolf your appropriate mundustone potions and food and then for the ability section you're gonna notice that i have quite a lot of ability choices and i always get asked this question every year that's gaming i only have 12 skills that i can use between my two weapon bars why do you show more than 12 options and that is because these are a list of viable choices that you can use i am a firm believer in that for the leveling process you shouldn't just follow a static leveling progression just be like okay use these skills use them the whole time and then never touch anything else because you don't really learn anything that way you don't learn what skills are good you don't learn what skills are bad you don't learn why you like certain skills and how certain skills might combo together for you know some fun you know ability synergy and i just think that while you're leveling up you don't really have to worry about being crazy optimal because the leveling process in eso isn't overly difficult to begin with so i basically tried to go through all the different classes and all the different roles magical stamina healing and tanking and give you a list of viable skills that you could try to use and put on your bars in whatever combinations that you want to just kind of allow you to experiment and try things out and then eventually as you get towards the end of the game you can feel free to go on to a you know graduate up to like a regular build so for example if you want to do uh you know dungeons and trials you come to my pve builds here you can scroll down to one of these different sections let's say you want to play a magic dragon night in pve you can click this build and it'll bring you to the page and it will show you the setup your weight trait enchants how to acquire the gear it'll explain the gear sets gives you a list of skills uh your champion points my guides go over everything you need to know to successfully build your character and i also have the same thing for player versus player i do also typically recommend you know some i do get asked quite a lot dots can i use one build for both pvp and pve and i typically would highly recommend against it uh pvp and pve and eso do have very different needs and you can very easily have more than one build on your character i think at one point one of my characters had like six different builds on him uh that you could just simply change with add-ons and stuff so i do recommend you know it's not that hard to carry around two sets of gear so i think it's better to do so um but again if you come into the pvp builds it's the same type of thing where i have introduction the gear setup explanation you got your skills uh vampire versus mortal champion points all that same stuff for the pvp builds as well so like i said guys dotsgaming.com tons of guides builds for beginners leveling solo pve pve pvp anything that you can look for for eso so feel free to check that site out to get a build set up on your character today the next thing that i'm going to cover really quick are weekly vendors so you have two different vendors that appear every single week from friday to sunday that offer different things so you have the alliance point vendor which is more commonly known as the golden vendor and that is located in the base camp of every faction in cyrodiil the vendor will spawn on friday and despawn on sunday she will sell monster set shoulders in epic rarity i will be going over monster sets a little bit more in the undaunted pledges section and they have the trade options of impenetrable or infused and she will also sell legendary overlands and dungeon jewelry with the trade either being arcane healthy or robust and but the items that she sells will vary from week to week the luxury furniture vendor will also sell nice furnishing items that again will vary week to week for your in-game house and they will also like us at spawn friday and despawn on sunday with his goods again changing every week and he will be located in cicero's food and general good shop inside of the hollow city of cold harbor so be sure to be uh check out these vendors weekly to know what loot they have and what items you can buy if you're interested and if you join my discord server link in the description below we have an eso news tab where you can see every week what items are being offered by these vendors the next section that i'm going to cover is on daunted pledges so undaunted pledges are daily quests that are given at the undaunted enclave that you can start you doing at level 45. now the undaunted enclave can be found outside of the three primary capital cities of mournhold way rest and eldon route and this gear this these daily quests are affiliated with the undaunted guild now the three quest givers that you are going to want to talk to for these undaunted pledges are urglar chiefbain glarion the redbeard and maj al-ragath now they give a variety of quests for specific dungeons because again that's what the undaunted guild is all about and when you do the quests from these three npcs by beating these dungeons on certain difficulties you get keys which allow you to earn certain gear pieces now erglard chiefbain gives the quest for the downloadable content dungeons while glaring in the redbeard and maja ragoth give quests for the base game dungeons now if you complete their quest their dungeon quests on normal mode you get one key if you complete them on veteran mode you also get one key but if you complete them on veteran hard mode you get two keys now basically these keys are really really important because they are used to unlock something called monster shoulders now there's a two-piece set that you can get in eso that a lot of builds you take advantage of and that's called your monster helm set where basically the helmet that is affiliated with a certain dungeon monster will be actually obtained from doing the dungeon on veteran difficulty while the shoulders are obtained from this place here the undaunted enclave by doing these pledges so just let's take take a look at one of the ones that i use for my dragon night zone is a perfect example i got the zone helmet from doing the scale caller peak dungeon on veteran and then i got zhang's epulse from doing the uh pledges here and then unlocking the chests that can give me the shoulders now the way that it used to be is that once you've got these undaunted keys you have to actually come to these chests over here and you would have a random chance at unlocking a piece of gear that you wanted but thankfully xenomax is heavily cut down on the amount of rng required in this system and you can actually get the shoulders from the people that give the quests so let's say you get a bunch of keys and you want to get a a piece of like a monster shoulder from glarion you hit his store and you have a bunch of options on what you can get you can get the city of ash coffer which can give you two different possible sets crypt of hearts coffer gives you two possible sets all of these different coffers can basically help kind of narrow down the set that you're looking for giving you only two possible options that you can get but keep in mind that this does cost five keys to be able to use one of these more specified sets if or one of these specified coffers excuse me if you would like to get a um the coffers for cheaper but have a larger loot pool you can go for the mystery coffer which again gives you a set from literally any one of these coffers at random and it's good because you could basically see what sets they offer so glarion offers a set of gear if you go talk to maj she offers a set of gear so you could basically kind of you know mouse through and see which ones you're looking for and then if you go to urglor chief bain you could also talk to her as well and you can again scroll through these to see what your options are now something that i recommend for all new players like i mentioned earlier you can start doing these dungeon dailies at level 45 but like i mentioned the champion point section of the guide gear cap is cp 160. so what i recommend that all new players do is you do these dungeon quests every single day from level 45 to champion point 160 and just absolutely hoard all of your undaunted keys once you hit cp 160 and your account is at gear cap you can then come to these vendors and unlock any monster helmet that you actually are trying to get because you'll have all these keys saved up you'll have a lot of chances to get the gear pieces that you're specifically looking for and as long as you do them you unlock them on your cp 160 character you will be guaranteed to have gear capped pieces so just a little trick to be able to give you a lot of chances when you first hit cp 160 to be able to get the gear that you're looking for because then at that point once your champion 160 you could also go run the alternative veteran dungeons as well and go get the helmets for the sets that you're looking for so this section like i said guys just wanted to go over on daunted pledges explain what monster helmets are and show that uh you know that these are definitely an important thing to do the next section that i'm going to cover are the arenas inside of eso eso has like i mentioned earlier in the guide has dungeons and it has trials but it also has different content called arenas arenas can be looked at as either solo or small group raids so basically there are some marinas that can be for group play that are basically like the difficulty of a raid except for it's for a dungeon party size but then there's also some basically solo raids and all of these different arenas offer rewards that are specifically tied to those arenas and typically these weapons are heavily sought after for end game character build so they're definitely worth looking into and these typically most of these pieces will go in the weapon slot so the main arenas that you have in the game right now is we have dragonstar arena which can be found in craglorn this is a four-person arena you also have the maelstrom arena which can be found in rothgar which is a solo arena we also have uh if i could find it vape trend hollows which is also a solo arena you also have black rose prison which is down here all the way in murkmeyer and that is also a group arena black rose prison requires the murkmeyer dlc in order to unlock vatran hollows requires the mark hearth dlc and then you also have maelstrom arena which requires the uh orcinium dlc within dragonstar arena is included in the base game i just wanted to mention these arenas to you guys just so that you know they existed if i were to mention like which arena i think new players should prioritize i would definitely recommend checking out the mailchim arena really really good weapons come from this that are typically heavily desired for end game pve builds now one thing also to mention is that you can get these really powerful weapons on either normal or veteran difficulty the veteran weapons do have a extra line of you know stats on the weapon but it's definitely not necessary to get that so you know if you're a newer player you don't have to worry if you can't handle veteran quite yet the weapons that come from normal are perfectly fine and normal is miles easier than veterans so definitely something to keep in mind if you would like to get some of the weapons from these arenas the next thing that i'm going to cover is crowd control there are two different types of crowd control in the game hard cc and soft cc so basically a hard cc is something that completely prevents your character from making any action unless you cc break it that would be basically like something like fossilized stunning them for three seconds when somebody is stunned they are hard cc they cannot do and complete any actions until they can see until they cc break out of that stun you also then have soft cc which is something that basically controls your character a bit but you're still able to complete actions so if you're rooted for example that is a soft cc you can still play your character but your character's movement is restricted until you dodge roll out of that root and then you also have something like a snare which slows your character's movement but you can sell again you can still you know do actions and complete actions and there are different immunities for these there is a hard cc immunity so once you cc break you're immune to hard cc's for a short time and once you get out of a root you're immune to soft cc's for a short time this was introduced in the elsewhere chapter actually um so there's a wide variety of ccs in the game i just wanted to basically mention that they exist because some people don't know what that acronym means it stands for crowd control and specifically for pvp you always want to make sure that you have some sort of hard cc somewhere on your bar so that you can stun your opponents and prevent them from completing their actions for this next section i would like to discuss world events so eso has a variety of world events in the game you have dolmens geysers the new oblivion portals dragon attacks and harrow storms now these are all relatively similar in terms of concepts but they have are basically different based off of you know the area that you're in but they're all basically just world events where a bunch of bad guys you know really powerful bad guys are in the world and then you have to try to team up with a group of players in order to kill them the base game once is called the dolmen so the dolmen is basically affiliated with the original base game quest line with molag bal and his dark anchors so basically at these dolmen locations the dark anchors come root themselves into the ground and daedra spawn and you basically just have to kill wave after wave of daedra which this scales with difficulty as most of these do based off of the amount of players around and then when you kill the final boss of the dolmen you can get a chest that has some rewards inside of it very similar concept with summerset though except for you know the mobs here tend to have a bit more unique mechanics either tends to be like bosses at these locations that have kind of like i said more interesting mechanics to them um but again very similarly to the dolmen you gain uh all these world events have the similar thing you gain rewards when you actually meet the boss affiliated with the elsewhere chapter was the is the dragon attack if it's ever a dragon attack on the map you will be able to see it and basically the dragons will come onto the ground and you and your fellow adventurers need to attack the dragon and kill it there's also in um skyrim for the uh greymoor chapter there's also harrow storms if you go deep into black reach you can find heroes storms down here which our world events down here look really really cool um again very similar thing waves of enemies you gotta kill them kill the things get the loot you know pretty similar concept um and then with the new chapter uh blackwood you know i'm on the live server right now so i cannot show it but there are going to be these things called oblivion gates which are going to spawn not at specific locations kind of like these other world events but rather at random locations around the map um that are you know specifically in the blackwood area and then you basically have to go inside of the portal and it's kind of similar to almost like the oblivion gates back from oblivion where you need to you and your fellow adventurers need to basically go through the gate and basically navigate through it and kill a wide variety of monsters and demons and and whatnot and the further in you go the harder the waves of enemies get but you know the further you reach you will eventually get some good rewards from it so these are just some cool world events that spawn throughout tamriel that you are free to participate in with your friends if you kind of discover them as you walk upon them or even if you're by yourself you can participate in these and team up with other adventurers to take down the bad guys the next thing that i'm going to cover is the zone guide the zone guide was added in wrath zoned in my opinion was one of the greatest additions to the game the zone guide basically shows you all of the things in the zone that you can do and help you identify where you need to go to to start on that zone storyline so that you're not doing side quest thinking okay i'm actually doing the story quest but in reality you're just doing some random side quests so it shows you a bunch of different things that you've completed on the map such as public dungeons world bosses while you've gotten way shrine different delves you've explored um and as well as the story quests and if you've won and as well as some achievements for the zone and what's cool is that if you want to do a story quest for the zone you can simply do continue stones zone story or start zone story and it'll show you on your map where you need to go to actually go on your zone story so it really really helps you guide you through each zone to show you you know okay these are what the things that you need to do these are some things that you haven't acquired yet or areas that you haven't explored so it's a really really helpful way if you're going into a new zone and you don't know where to start to get you started on your adventures inside of that zone antiquities is basically a mini game inside of eso where you're going to get these things called leads which tell you about a treasure buried somewhere in the world you then have to scry that lead to find out where the treasure is go to the location find the dig site dig up the treasure and boom it is now something you have in your possession and the items that you can find in these dig sites vary from just basic furnishing items for your house you know random trash gear that you can get dropped but the big thing that people want to go for is one of two things either the mythic items which are the new one-piece set bonuses that offer a ton of additional utility and power to your character but you can only wear one at a time or there's even a new mount that you can get through this system now what you're going to want to do when you get started with antiquities is to go to solitude in western skyrim and go to about where i am on the map and you'll see a thing on the wall that is calling all antiquarians and that's going to be your starting quest you're going to grab that and then go through the intro quest and it's going to teach you all about scrying and all about excavation and how those processes work but what's going to basically happen is that once you get a lead which is the first step that you need to be able to describe you can get leads from a number of ways from just either mobs uh in the world in certain zones you can get them from treasure chests uh public dungeons delves lots of different places you're gonna basically get a lead and then you're going to have to scry it and now as you can see on the screen scrying is basically like mine sweeper where what you're going to need to do is get all of these different symbols uh next to each other to kind of match up you're going to click them and try to discover all of the various glowing circles you see which are called foci the more foci that you discover the more um kind of fine-tuned your area will be shown on the map like as you can see i only discovered a couple foci here i still missed i think too so the area that it's shown on the map where the dig site is was a little bit larger but if i discovered all of them it would show me a smaller dig site which would make it easier to find then you simply go there dig it up with your tools go through the day mini game and then bam you then have your item now there are a couple different abilities that you're going to gain access to as you level up your your two skill lines for these um so do keep that in mind that as you level them up you will get skill lines that make the scrying easier also the leads have various uh levels so the higher level the lead the more difficult the scrying and excavation processes will be but the greater the rewards you'll also notice that when you do excavation and scrying that you will have little uh like stamina bar so to speak for the scrying it is like at the bottom in that little vial and for the excavation it's at the top with that little like stamina looking bar thing and once those run out you will kind of fail the lead or the excavation or you just simply will stop kind of where you are and if you didn't get any bonus loot from the excavation you only get what you have dug up so far and for the scrying if you just miss out on certain foci like i said the area where you're going to have to search from is going to be bigger but overall the system i think is pretty straightforward and they've done a great job with the tutorial quest that kind of explains the system to you but i just wanted to give you a brief overview here for the complete beginner guide to give you kind of a broad picture of what the system looks like now do keep in mind that if you do want to level the system to max level and get everything that you need you're going to need to farm up quite a lot of skill points but i think between 25 and 30 so do keep that in mind that you're going to need a lot of skill points when leveling these skill lines up to be able to farm max level leads you'll also notice that you can find your available leads that you can scry listed in your journal the next section that we are going to cover is the companion system that came with blackwood now this isn't going to be an in-depth guide but rather just a quick overview of the system so you know enough to get yourself started so companions are summonable npcs that fight with you in combat and could go on adventures with you now they can quest with you actually do dungeons with you or do trials but they cannot be summoned in pvp or solo arenas companions can be summoned or dismissed at will very similar to assistants like tithis and nuzema and they can give you passive non-combat bonuses while they're summoned and at launch with blackwell there's going to be two companions but i can imagine that we will see more added over time and i'm not going to go too deep into the specific companions to try to save some spoilers but i will show you where to find them bastion can be found here in the southern area of blackwood at deep scorned hollow while miri can be found in the northern section at doomvalde volpinas once you find a companion you will need to do a quest to actually unlock them and then once you complete that your companion will start at level one and as you progress through leveling they can level up to a maximum level of 20. companions level up via experience gained with your character directly from combat and these companion levels and unlocks are all account wide and also do note that companions are affected by experience scrolls and experience events now companions can fill any roles in the game dps healing or tanking and you can outfit your companions to do whatever you want them to do each companion has their own associated class weapon armor guild and racial skill lines weapon and armor skill lines will level up by simply using that gear type guild skill lines will level up from associated dailies and the rest of the skills level up as the companion does companions use up to five skills and one ultimate the ultimate is controlled by the player using the default pet control keybind for pc which is why and the rest of the skills which have cool downs fire off in a priority system with one being the highest and five being the lowest so generally i'd recommend putting your high skill cooldowns as the highest priority like one and two and your low skills as and your low cooldown skills is a low priority like four or five that way your companion uses their bigger skills first as they come off of cooldown companions will also have their own associated gear pain and the companion gear is a bit different though than what a player can equip and the gear has its own unique companion traits which are as follows quickened which gives cooldown reduction prolific which gives ultimate generation focus which gives critical strike chance shattering which gives penetration aggressive which gives damage done soothing which gives healing done augmented which is the ability buff and buff duration increase and bolstered which reduces damage taken and finally vigorous which gives maximum health companions also do have a rapport bar which essentially kind of like a rep with that npc rapport is gained by doing companion uh by doing things that companions like while they're summoned and rapport is lost by doing things that the companion dislikes while they're summoned as you increase your rapport with a companion you will unlock special story quest for said companion and that quest will take you on a special quest adventure unique to that companion also once your report gets high enough the companion can then go to your house as a guest and hang out there and if the rapport gets low enough the companion will automatically unsummon itself and because they don't like you and are mad at you but you can resume them if you want to you can also assign companions with specific armor motifs costumes weapon appearances dies and mounts but do note that you cannot equip a helmet motif and costume helmets are removed now guys with that being said that is going to be it for me today with my eso complete beginner guide and i hope you did find this helpful like i said i like to remake this guide every year because i think eso is a great mmo for casual players looking for a nice chill experience but i don't think the game necessarily does a good job introducing new players into the game systems so i like to make
