a quick trip to an estate sale and unexpected estate so as I was heading to the post office to pick up viewer mail did I come back with anything good vintage Christmas vintage Halloween vintage Easter Thanksgiving Valentine's Day anything vintage stay tuned to find out [Music] [Music] I'm bored 130 years old named [Music] actually street [Applause] fifteen that's my chair 45 yeah so as you can see or made me not see because the lighting in there was a little bit off prices were pretty high and the reason for that was because when I was paying for the items that I did purchase there was another lady in there she bought a few things and she had asked the people that were holding the sale where they got their price for the doll house and the doll furniture and the lady went over to the table and said oh wow I looked on eBay and I found you know these prices good ol I found it listed on eBay I mean face it those that do resale when you go to yard sales estate sales dirt stores most times a lot of people you know they do look up prices on their phone so when we say look they looked on eBay well everyone does it's just being realistic about what is listed on eBay factoring in what has sold factoring and chipping and then looking at the price that you're offering these things at you know those individual pieces of furniture I don't know who in this area is going to pay that much for one piece same as with the adult sized furniture the real furniture I think that the desk the small child seat desk that was over a hundred dollars the wooden ironing boards those are pretty expensive you know some of those items were very high-priced even for the cheese boxes I mean that that's that's pretty much market value here no that's I don't even think that I think if you put a cheese box out of the flea market for $15 you'd have that cheese box for quite a while so I always still like going to an estate sale just to see what's there this one obviously it wasn't a lot of older items they had long a burger baskets which I know people collect not me so what did I pick up I did pick up this it is not old and it was made in China sorry I know I usually like to buy things that are old and that you know aren't repros but at first I picked this stuff and I was like it's not normal it's repro it's made to look old made in China and then I my brain started thinking which thankfully that's a good thing and I thought that this would look nice or it would be appropriate in my Halloween decor it kind of reminds me of an old fence so I thought that I can use it as like a spooky fence for a scene with some of my vintage Halloween items and it was only three dollars now in store such as Hobby Lobby TJ Maxx Marshalls I'm sure that this probably would have cost anywhere between fifteen to thirty dollars so three bucks was a good deal and I could probably even use this for Christmas you know it would look nice just thought of this the lights the battery-operated lights that they usually have at the dollar store that are on a string there's only maybe ten small lights if you strung that across that will look perfect so I bought that and then I didn't get two of the books that they had there oh this was three dollars I think I said that I bought two books there were two dollars apiece I thought maybe she would charge me three a dollar piece but she didn't so this one is mechanic's pocket in the Miranda copyright 1904 printed by international textbook company Scranton Pennsylvania so you know it's just nothing super fancy tables electricity sizes of wire all things you need to know in life but I thought that this would be good for when I get my Etsy shop up for people that do junk journaling I thought this would be good and I will get my Etsy shop up I promise then I bought this book it is a little I'll get to it I promise Holbrooks Essex County New Jersey business directory including Harrison and Kearney carinii hover mounts at Hudson County and mathematics price of dollar 50 so I paid 50 more sense than one of this was made in 1894 so again great at things will beat that so some nice advertising this is what was in there so it's all like they say you know businesses you have the oh and file practical machinist and toolmaker x' i probably pronounced that wrong the newark horse exchange auction of horses wagons harnesses and blanket every monday so just great information about businesses that were in these counties you know back in the late 1800s this was in here it's a specimen of work executed by the newer New York with oh and bank note company how pretty and then this is the back so these are some of the works that you can get done decorator and painter dog this wasn't goodbye for two dollars let's see there's any other beauties in here that may even hit it oh oh here's these are sorry so this is an insert an attached insert for Samuel Blair slate roofer look at the the picture they just don't do that this anymore you go online there's that paper as a dying art there was no here's another insert so Church and slate and porters and jobbers I love that word jabbers tools metals and supplies another neat answer so a book like this look how this criticism is artistic ladies hairdressers and manufacture of human hair goods so as I was saying a book like this you know is it's great for so many reasons historically because you can find a book like this you know closer your library perhaps your local no County Museum if you do have one and if you're interested in what businesses were back at that time or say you had you were doing your genealogy and you discovered that a relative worked in one of these places or a relative owned company and you don't know much about and granted this will give you the county and the street that business moves on but that's more information than perhaps you knew before and it's also is great to just see what was and then essentially what isn't or to trace down where a building was located that's why books like these which often are scanned and put online in PDF form sometimes they're free sometimes you have to purchase them but they are great sources of information for just the historical aspect the genealogy aspect and just to see what was and what wasn't and then who doesn't love looking at the advertisements the illustrations and graphics the print that they use I enjoy it and for two dollars it is almost as expensive as a cup of tea from Dunkin Donuts I don't drink coffee except iced coffee I like I love Dunkin Donuts tea and a medium costs just a little bit under $2 depending on which town you might from sad that I know that but hey I do enjoy their tea so yeah I bought the fake cast-iron decorative piece and two books for a total of seven dollars and I learned that you know we're gonna do when you go into the state sale or yards on they have eBay prices you you choose whether you want to purchase that or not that's pretty much all you you can do because it happens a lot now it happens a lot so you see it and you just decide hey I'm still gonna look at the other things cuz you never know what they might have overlooked such as the books here which I think we're good fine so I hope you enjoyed this little Estate Sale adventure I'm in the mood for a really good digging estate sale where it's every nook cranny open the doors go on the basement going the Attic but those seem you know once every couple of months hopefully now that I said that they'll be one in the next couple of weeks that I can go to so we shall see but I hope you enjoyed this thank you for watching if you haven't seen so my other videos Estate Sale videos go back watch them and let me know what you think so again hope you enjoy this thank you for watching have
