hey guys welcome back to enj go away since we both had cobia 19 we are taking full advantage of the antibodies and exploring the city of new orleans this is the first time i've ever called 9-1-1 ever really yeah i've never had to wow yeah that was crazy i mean it was a bad spot people were stopped really suddenly bad enough that i had to turn my hazard lights on when we were stopping and then not 10 seconds later you heard the car starting to hit each other right behind us we got pretty lucky there was a pretty decent sized pile up that happened right behind us i didn't really expect to start the video out this way whatsoever but i guess we are right now we're leaving louisville and going to cincinnati we're going to fly out of there and head to new orleans so we're super excited about that should we what a way to start the trip but new orleans we're coming hopefully almost one year ago today to the date i know um two days a year ago in two days last time we were in an airport there were people walking around in hazmat suits spraying ladies and gentlemen preparation for departure please check to see that you see those security passes two window shades are open seat back side now we have arrived in louisiana we just got to new orleans for our very first time we landed went to the hotel and our very first stop is going to be mothers this is an institution in new orleans the landry's opened it in 1938 it quickly became a hangout spot for the marines because five out of seven of their children were marines two of which were women the oldest was francis and she was the very first marine being female from the state of louisiana so we're gonna go get some really good seafood [Music] so here we have dixie beer brood and new orleans since 1907. [Music] oh look at that oh baby it's good it's good it tastes like beer should taste jordan's food and drink review since 2021. [Music] catfish oysters and shrimp on here all right that's correct all right goodbye we got some food to put away oh my goodness this jambalaya was so freaking good go to mothers and get the jambalaya and the greens you must get the greens all right so we just got done at mothers a new orleans institution and i would definitely recommend it uh we paid like close to 30 bucks we got like the jumbo seafood platter i had a couple beers uh dixie beer apparently it's been brewed in new orleans since like 1907. uh we're leaving like super fat and we got leftovers after eating a table full of food we went back to the hotel to chill out before exploring the town at night and we did some people watching down on bourbon street looks like the outdoor boil bucket all nice and vented probably not the right word for it which is open on the street pretty cool after dinner we decided to go have a couple drinks walk around bourbon street nothing crazy but we did a lot of people watching which was a lot of fun we did see a couple tatas um tomorrow we go explore the city for a full day in new orleans we'll see you in the morning good morning this is our very first full day in new orleans we've never been here before and of course knowing us we're going to eat first thing we're going to killers po boys on dauphine street in downtown new orleans they apparently put their own little spin on po boys so we're excited it's our brunch ready to eat let's go i definitely went with something out of the ordinary po boy wise i got the roasted cauliflower sandwich it's roasted cauliflower with pickled radish avocado dried kale robisco sauce and it is on po boy bread but you can also get it on wheat bread i got the braised beef debris ho boy it's got braised beef and pickled peppers and green beans with a horseradish aioli right up my alley this is the exact kind of po-boy that i want to eat roasted cauliflower the kale on it's perfect that romesco sauce is wonderful with that avocado creamiest this all comes together it's perfect come here just finished up at killer's po boys i was thrilled with the it was like a world inspired new orleans centric type po boy spot and i was really happy with it vegan food perfect i got the braised beef po boy it was uh nice and tender lots of lots of beef she was sitting there picking the green beans as we walked in that were yeah on my sandwich so that's always a good side and uh about eight to like 13 bucks for a sandwich so pretty pretty good prices i mean you're in downtown so but uh overall i would recommend definitely now we're going to go get on a street car for the first time street car for the first street and head to the garden district for a self-guided audio tour [Music] so [Music] just got to the intersection of saint charles and washington where we are going to begin our self-guided audio tour [Music] the walking tour did take us to lafayette cemetery number one one of the more famous cemeteries in new orleans unfortunately the entrance was closed we were able to see some of the tombs and mausoleum from the sidewalk though they would actually bury the bodies up higher to begin with so that the heat would help them decompose [Music] the walking tour through the garden district turned out to be super interesting we got to see lots of historical houses and beautiful architecture the shapes of the streets you could actually see had a slight curve to them which followed the shape of the mississippi river the garden district used to be considered outside of the city which nowadays it felt like we were still very much so in the city here we have the house from the curious case of benjamin button it was filmed both on the outside and the inside the blue on the ceilings up here used to be lye and paint to keep nesting animals away now they do it just kind of as tradition but this is uh the house of john goodman should we just wait here until payton shows up we're not going anywhere can peyton come out and play sir peyton manning grew up where his dad and mom still live the district as a whole was super interesting but what was also cool is that every house and every building seem to have its own unique story what a peyton from just walking down the streets of the garden district it's just so beautiful seeing the vast variety of flora you see so many beautiful flowers trees things that we've never seen before because we've never been to louisiana gorgeous hey buddy you look like a dog my dad would have you out here enjoying some shade yeah yeah you may recognize the house just over here it is the buckner house it is the largest house in the garden district and was featured in american horror story next you're about to see some classic southern hospitality this sweet lady gave us a tour of her flower garden what's your name trisha chrissa i'm erin this is my husband jordan hi nice to meet you that's amazing down here where are you from uh we're from just outside of louisville kentucky oh wow mm-hmm oh we're azaleas azaleas okay we were wondering these are camellias oh wow these are roses these are roses and boxwood the park to our garden was designed by ellen bigelshipman if you come up to the mirror you can see the perspective of the columns they're corinthian upstairs and ionic downstairs and that was from a temple in greece and 69 a.d temple of the wind and the the porch was to keep the sun off the house so the hot air would rise and go up through a skylight and the cool air would come in oh that's brilliant design well thank you so much okay you have a wonderful day so nice to meet you nice to meet you thank you well what are the odds of getting your own personal tour through a private garden you know oh the garden district mentioned yeah ladies just uh now we can take her mask off now she just came out her front door as we were standing on the street getting ready to go to our next stop on the tour and uh offered us onto her property and gave us a little quick little tour of her garden she said she was uh she was born here she's lived in this uh in that house her entire life that's incredible that was amazing new orleans hospitality at its finest we built up quite the appetite and we need to quench our thirst so we are heading to superior seafood for 50 cent raw oysters really great deal on drinks bunch of good food let's go eat [Music] [Applause] just hopped off the street car took the uh trolley in from the garden district back to downtown we left superior seafood superiorly enjoyed their happy hour uh 75 cent raw oysters highly recommend superior seafood it was amazing yeah time to go up to the room freshen up then head back out [Music] [Music] away we just happened upon this awesome little jazz bar the name of which is favela chic and we just got to listen to a bunch of great jazz music and the drinks were ridiculously expensive can you call it jazz music if you use an accordion though i don't know i'm not a jazz musician anyway we had a really good time and then there's gonna be like uh like like a road like frenchman that's like royal street people walking past um i suck at getting directions uh it's on royal street though we really just wanted to know how to pronounce it oh verde heads for anyone birding we end the night at verdemart which was featured in an episode of a cook's tour by anthony bourdain he's always been an icon to us and we definitely travel because of him oh yeah yeah yeah what's up all right [Music] nice some of the cajun coos would you like one of those [Music] a dollar um okay okay fair deal give me an extra give me a dollar save the trees all right occasion koozie buddy you got two dollars 20 61 plus a dollar for the cousin sir yeah shalom yeah [Music] that's that
