all right this is the only place I have good lighting so we're just gonna make it work please stay all right hello there welcome back to my channel so I am still in school in fact I still have a week of school left to keep me in your thoughts it is Friday June 12th and I wanted to show you all orbit oh hello tuna excuse me I'm logging thank you please come again soon so I wanted to show you all what I specifically am doing for the end of the school year I did previously make a video where I share ten different ideas for virtual and of the school year activities or just things that you could do with your kiddos but today I wanted to show you what I am doing because especially one of them I am very excited about so it comes down to four different things that I'm doing with my class number one I'm doing a virtual award ceremony that's actually happening today and that's one of us excited about number two I am posting a digital memory book for my students to complete on Google classroom I did previously talked about this in that other video so if you want more information on that you can go back and watch that video but I will link the digital memory book I'm using on this video number three I am doing a virtual class Lunch Bunch nothing super special about that I'm just having my students get on the last day of school and we're gonna eat lunch together talk about our summer plans share anything we want to share and that's it number four I am preparing end-of-the-year gifts for my students and they're a little bit more like above and beyond what I would typically do for end-of-the-year but due to the circumstances I just felt like kind of spoiling my students a little bit so let's start by talking about the virtual class boards [Music] it's in the cat tower cute hashtag cat mom life but here's the deal with the awards since I have been in fourth grade I have always done bitmoji Awards they're adorable I showed them in that previous video and I got a lot of questions about them I've always loved those awards but when I had collaborative planning with my team one of my team teachers said hey I have done Candy Awards before and the kids really liked it and I thought it was a really good idea because then I could include the award and the candy that went with the award in their end-of-the-year gift so I said great candy Awards but then there was that small part of me that said I'd really missed a bit mo G's like I've always loved having a bitmoji because I think my bitmoji is adorable and all of a sudden I realized Michelle you have a computer you can make your own and they can be candy awards and they can have the bitmoji yeah so that's what I did I'm gonna go ahead and show you all the awards I will have them linked for you down in the description box if you are interested so first of all I just want it to be known that they are not actually this small I just put four of them on a page just so that I could show you faster but typically they are like a full regular sheet of paper so we have the Laffy Taffy award for always telling great jokes the Skittles award for always having colorful ideas the almond Joey award for bringing us so much joy okay not my most creative one Milky Way award for having ideas out-of-this-world Jolly Rancher award for always being a jolly classmate again not my best work starburst award for always being a star student in class M&M award for being magnificent and marvelous cotton candy award for being sweet of sugar I know technically cotton candy isn't like a candy but you know they sell those bags of cotton candy so that's what I was envisioning then we have the push pop award for always getting work done when push comes to shove I was very proud of myself for that one Butterfinger award for making our classroom of butter place see what I did there pop rocks award for rocking our world smarty award for always making smart choices crunch bar award for helping others when they're in a crunch Gobstopper award for never stopping and trying your best I need to add the word always in there note to self Rollo award for always rolling with the punches fund if award for always having fun in the classroom KitKat award for helping others and giving them a break good and plenty award for reading plenty of books this year Baby Ruth award for being super athletic during recess and PE mentos award for being a wonderful mentor to other students jokes I make jokes I'm a hunter grant award for being a fantastic mathematician Snickers award for always making us laugh Twizzlers award for always being flexible I can't talk today Hershey Award for always being sweet and kind Ring Pop award for always popping in to the class discussion sweet tart Award for always being a sweet friend light saber Award for always being a lifesaver and helping Sour Patch Kids Award for never having a sour attitude so as I mentioned I am doing the virtual class candy award ceremony today where I'm revealing the awards my students but I'm going to include the actual certificate and the candy in my students end-of-the-year gift bags now the candy who first of all I am on a little health challenge right now so it was very difficult to go and buy all of that and not be able to eat any of it however I did end up finding most of the candy at five below they had a very good selection there were a few things that I couldn't find they're like 100 grand bar and like the backs of cotton candy maybe I just didn't look hard enough I don't know but I ended up picking up anything I couldn't find at either Target or like local grocery stores now here is the best part so my team teachers and I decide alright we're gonna do the candy Awards and our school has been doing like virtual spirit days every Friday and today is a Friday so we were like okay what is the virtual spirit day that day and it's fun Friday which is essentially like Wacky Wednesday where you dress up in whacky clothes and all of a sudden it hit me I told my team teachers okay if we're doing candy Awards and it's fun Friday I have to dress up like Willy Wonka and I they thought I was kidding spoiler alert I wasn't I have gotten myself an entire Willy Wonka costume outfit which I'm very excited for because not only can I use it this year but I can use it like next year in the classroom and who doesn't want to dress up like Willy Wonka like let's just be real for a second oh and I have to show you the best part hold on a second okay so then it hit me if I'm going to dress up like Willy Wonka to do these class candy awards I have to send my students golden tickets right like I have to so I ended up making these oh there's a back layer there we go these golden ticket invitations it's literally like I just made clipart of like a ticket and then I put text on it but it says golden ticket invitation you have been invited to attend the 2020 virtual class candy award ceremony taking place on Friday June 12th at 1:00 p.m. I'm out of breath this year's ceremony will be hosted by a special guest so you won't want to miss it the link for the awards ceremony Google meet will be posted on miss phrase Google classroom on Friday June 12 at 12:45 p.m. unfortunately food and drinks will not be provided since this event is being held virtually but guests are encouraged to bring their own so obviously I mentioned that there was a special guest which is actually me dressed up as Willy Wonka but they don't know that and the reason I put that in there was just to build suspense and the best part is all week long when I've been on Google meat for my instructional hours of my office hours I will have kids pop on and I'm like hey I like how's it going do you have any questions and they're like no but who's the special guest and they've been like popping on and guessing like they've guessed our old principal and someone guest Oprah and I said I wish but no so it's just been really interesting to see my kids really getting into it this was a great easy way to build suspense all I did was pop it in an envelope mail it to each one of my kiddos and it just made the experience that much more special especially since it's not in person oh yeah I did one mention for the tickets I just printed these on cardstock and I laminated them so they were just a little bit you know thicker and more durable but it's nothing fancy so let's talk about my outfit because this is the best part now most of it did come from the Amazon with the exception of this white button-down shirt I do not have a white button-down shirt so this is actually Billy's Thank You Billy but the rest of it all came from Amazon so I have this vest it is a men's vest I just got it in a size small it was the closest thing I could find on Amazon to kind of look like the floral vest that Willy Wonka wears underneath of his jacket this is a purple blazer that I got from Amazon now I did order up actually I think it ordered up like almost two sizes I'm typically like a small and I got this in a large and it fits really well mostly because I have layers like I have the white shirt and then the best and then the jacket so just keep in mind with this you would want to order up I have this hat which I am in love with because I feel like it is the perfect Willy Wonka hat but I will say it is way too big for my head I'm gonna show you that once I put this on later this afternoon so I'm gonna have to stuff something up inside of it so it doesn't fall down past my eyes I have this little velvet yellow bow which is absolutely adorable and it just like clips on that is from Amazon a pair of white gloves also from Amazon and then this walking stick because I can't be willy wonka without a walking stick now the only bad thing is when it came it was like damaged you can see it's bent here but I figured it wasn't a big deal my kids are only gonna see the top part of it anyway now in terms of how much I spent I don't really want to talk about it I want to say it was close to like $80 and that included the best the jacket the gloves the walking stick the bow and the hat Luna not included but my thinking is I can wear this for years to come every time I do an award ceremony and I could even do like a classroom transformation that's candy related so hi Luna you do not belong in the candy factory but I figured this is something I can definitely get use out of and even like this purple blazer I would totally rock this on its own so it was a little bit of an investment but to me it was worth it I promise I will show you the outfit on but I still have to eat lunch and I don't trust myself to not spill so before I put it on and show you all I did want to talk about the end-of-the-year gifts that I am doing for my students again this is above and beyond what I would typically do I usually do the award ceremony and then a small gift for my students but due to how this school year ended I just felt like going above and beyond and that was my choice but I feel like I still did it in a very cost-efficient way so I made a little sample gift bag for Billy and I actually told him the other day like oh yeah like I have a gift for you he doesn't realize that it's made for a fourth grader but so we have just this brown craft bag I got this in like a 50 pack on Amazon so I will have plenty of leftovers for next year which is great and then there is this like sparkle tissue paper it's the kind that has like the little pieces of confetti in it and I got I think two packs of that off of Amazon to give me enough to put two pieces in each kid's bag one at the bottom and then one on top so let's talk about this little name doohickey right here so it says Billy or so really bad glare from my window there you go so it's just a basic tag and it has the kids name on it with a tie-dye fill now this is something that I just made in PowerPoint the reason I use PowerPoint instead of Google slides is because PowerPoint will let you use imported fonts and Google slides will not so I can't remember the font that I used I know it was an Amy gross head pot so I will like it for you in the description but I basically just made a rectangle and I made a black outline I put the name I did a tie-dye bill for the text and then a black outline on the text and that was it I printed these on cardstock and laminated them so again they are more durable these actually serve two purposes number one they help me be able to identify the bag but number two I figured my kiddos could also use it as like a personalized bookmark so just a little added bonus I've got the little piece of tissue paper on top I'm going to take that out and let's start with the candy because I already mentioned that that was going in here so I have each student's candy award I gave Billy the skittles Award for always having colourful ideas most of the time okay now these again I just on cardstock and I did laminate them so they were more durable and I also have their candy in here so for example skittles these are totally open I got them from my little candy stash but I haven't eaten them recently I promise so each kid has their candy in the bag that matches their award then I have just a little thing of bubbles I like to have something that my students can play with and these bubble wands who okay let me just tell you these are fantastic dhole I have been looking on Amazon and honestly I think these are even cheaper than the ones on Amazon I got these from Walmart they came in a six packet had rainbow colors red orange yellow green blue and purple I want to say they were like 398 for the six-pack I did the math and I know personally we have a 6% sales tax with tax it came out to 70 cents per bubble watt and like these are the big ones like these are not the little dinky ones these are the really big ones so I was very happy with that and then I just attached this little tag it just says you blew me away this year I have these linked in the description box as a freebie for you also if you are interested you can grab those and I just tied it on with like black ribbon that I had at home ok next thing that is in here is a little personalized name sign I like to do very personalized gifts for my students I just think that those are the most meaningful so a couple of weeks ago I want to say 2 to 3 weeks ago I posted a Google Form on my Google classroom and on the Google Form I asked my students to describe each student in the class in one word so for example it would say how would you describe Billy in one word how would you describe Michelle in one word once my students all filled out that form which not everyone got to it and that's okay I was able to pull up this spreadsheet and then I had columns of all of the words that my students had came up with for each student so I took those words and I made it into this little Werner it is a website and it's word art calm super simple I'll link it for you and you just copy and paste the words and then you can choose whether you want it to form an image or if you want it to fill some kind of text like for example I did my students names so I did the text option but you could totally do this with pictures you can customize the color now it is free if you download just the standard PNG or JPEG if you want the high-resolution you do have to pay for that but I just use the standard ones and I thought they were just fine each kid has their name with all of the words from their classmates and I tried to pick a color that that student really liked and again I printed this on cardstock and laminated it the last thing that is in here is my flat teachers now I previously mentioned this in my other virtual end-of-the-year video and this is not my original idea teachers have been doing this like the whole time in quarantine I don't know who originally came up with the idea I know the product that I'm going to show you that's on the inside came from that teaching spark so I will link it for you it is a freebie but let's start with the envelope so I just had an envelope to kind of hold it all and I printed directly on the envelope so it says flat teacher inside open very carefully and it has my fitmode genes now I have already done a video on how to print on envelopes it's my teacher monthly challenge where I wrote letters to my students so I will link that for you if you are interested in how to print on an envelope but what's my students open it up there are two different things inside first of all there is the flat teacher so it's basically just the bitmoji version of me I printed on cardstock laminated and then just cut around it which you can tell I left a white border I didn't make it super precise because who really cares but the point of this is that students will have their flat teacher throughout the summer and they can take pictures or take videos of them doing different things with the black teacher and then they can send it to me so the other thing that is in here is the letter now again this is part of that freebie so it's a little template you just pop in your own bitmoji change the text it says hello class and miss you so much and I miss all the fun we used to have together at school even though we are a part we can still learn and explore together take me with you on your adventures this summer and be sure to document our time together I would love to see pictures or videos of us exploring together your parents can send them to me at and I have a fake email address on here but I put my actual email on the ones to my students or they can text them to me at and again the one I sent to my students I did my real cellphone number because even though we're using Google Voice I don't know what that's going to last all summer and honestly I've built a good enough relationship with my students and their families that I find giving out my personal number but I know that that is a personal choice so you don't have to do that and then it says I can't wait to see them please take good care of me I would hate to get lost or get chewed on by a pet or a babysitter for that matter please keep me in a safe spot when I need rest love at this price so basically over here there's just a list of different things that they can do with me so for example let's play a board game or a card game let's do schoolwork together they hopefully won't do much of that over the summer let's do a random act of kindness like it just has little ideas for them and I'm hoping to get lots of pictures this summer so I was excited about that so that is it for their gifts honestly now that I look back I'm like you know what I didn't go too overboard and it was very cost-efficient the only things I had to buy were the canvas bags but I got them in bulk so they were cheap the tissue paper which again was pretty cheap and I honestly could have used tissue paper I already had at home I just happened to be out of it but you might already have some in home I had to buy the bubbles which were 70 cents apiece and then I had to buy their candy that was probably the most expensive piece because the candy did range I think some of them were less than a dollar but some of them were as much as like almost $2 just depending but honestly I think that's pretty good for a student gift it wasn't a lot of money I think it's something my students will really appreciate because it's personalized to them they get their award they get their name sign that's on the bag plus they get their personalized word art with their name they get the candy which they can enjoy as a treat they get the bubbles which are fun to play with and for me I just felt like it was a really good balance so before the grand finale when I actually change into my Willy Wonka outfit I did want to show you kind of my setup for where I'm going to film the virtual award ceremony so this is just my kitchen table I have this bin which is from my basement and holds light bulbs and I brought this up just to help prop up my laptop so my laptop is going to sit on top of there I have this box light so this is actually one of my lights that I use for filming box lights are really good for defusing the light so it's no too harsh so I have that there it's not plugged in right now because I don't trust my cats and they will probably rip the cord out of the wall and then all I did to fancy it up just a little bit it's making these fake candies I literally did this last night at like 9 p.m. it did not take very long basically the candy piece is two plates so there's a plate on the front and a plate on the back the one on the front I painted so I did one blue and one pink but you can tell I did not clean my brush off very well so you can see the streaks of blue that actually got on the pink one whoops but after I painted the top plate I just stapled it to a second plate on the bottom so that way it kind of gave it a little bit of dimension I wrapped it in this clear cellophane so I got this from Target it comes in a roll just like like wrapping paper and it was in with the wrapping paper I want to say it was like two or three dollars for a big roll so I took a piece I wrapped it around the candy twisted the ends and I just used like some gold ribbon to it tie it off and I did have to trim the ends a little bit because they were kind of obnoxiously long and then all I did was use packaging tape to actually tape it to the wall I taped these up last night and they're still sitting there which I'm kind of proud of so very basic set up I didn't want to make it too fancy in the background because let's be honest my costume is where everyone's going to be looking anyway but this was just a fun way to add just a little bit of props into it okay final final thing before I show you my outfit I promise I did want to show you how I'm actually presenting the awards to my class this is what my students will see when they join in the awards I'm gonna have my camera off so they can't see me yet but I'm going to be presenting my screen so they're just going to see this slide it says class candy Awards with special guest host mrs. Willy Wonka and then it says the virtual awards will be starting soon I made this in PowerPoint I actually downloaded a font called Willy Wonka that's how I got the font for class candy awards and mrs. Willy Wonka I will link that for you down below I just found like a purple swirl background off of Google put that in I took the golden ticket added that in and it's literally just text now in order to get this into Google slides I saved the slide as a JPEG and then inserted it as the background on Google slides while this is showing cuz I'm going to have the Google meat start about 15 minutes before the class candy words actually start I'm going to have some music claims so this is just a little playlist I made on Amazon music and right now I just have three songs but it's a song sugar sugar and then this is like the instrumental from Willy Wonka it plays at the beginning and end of the movie and then I want candy and I went with the kids boppers and Justin Pinkster by I'm gonna have those playing on a loop Billy and I tested it last night and it actually sounds pretty good even coming through the speakers so then when it's time to start I'm gonna stop presenting turn on my camera so they can see me and my outfit I'm going to intro it and then when I actually start with the awards basically I just took the awards from Google slides that I already had made and I just animated their name so I'm gonna start by saying like a lot beat Appy award this goes to a student who's always telling great jokes and then I animated it so their name will come in when I click on my computer so I'm basically just going through every award exactly like that so it wasn't a lot of prep the only thing I really had to do was to make that title slide and then save the songs and otherwise like the awards I already had done so it should be pretty easy alright here it is here is the costume I keep looking at like the screen up top because I just think I look very good I look very legit I've got my walking stick my gloves the hat I had to stop a shirt on up like the top part so that it would not fall down past my eyes now you can't see the best very much but it's okay we all know it's there and I do look a little ridiculous on the bottom because I'm wearing like slipper socks and leggings but I'm excited welcome to the 2020 glass candy Awards I host mrs. willy wonka now you all are in for a treat no pun intended because this year the class candy awards are being held virtually for the very first time now every award does correspond to a special candy it may not be your favorite candy but it is a candy that represents you as a student now I am NOT able to virtually and send the candy to you through the screen like mr. Willy Wonka was working on in his candy factory but I promise you will receive your award and candy next week in the mail if you received one of these special golden ticket invitations in the mail that means you are in the running to be able to win a class candy award again I am your special guest host mrs. Willy Wonka and because this is being held virtually I am hosting live from my house I mean candy factory we are going to go out mr. Sethi is calling mrs. Willy Wonka in the middle of the class candy awards unacceptable alright so I'm gonna show you what this hat looks like if I don't have any big stuffed inside of it and I don't have my glasses on that's what I get it's way way big but it's fine I literally just like stuff a shirt in here flipped it on and I was good to go so the class candy words are done and honestly it was a blast I thoroughly enjoyed it I've always loved like dressing up with my students I don't know I just get a kick out of it and even though I teach upper elementary like they still love it they'll roll their eyes and some of them will pretend like it's embarrassing but they truly do love it my students were super cute as they were coming on the meet because some of them had kind of figured out from the golden ticket that I was going to dress up like Willy Wonka but other ones had no idea so when they got on and they saw that it said special guest host mrs. Willy Wonka they were all excited and I have a camera off until it was time to start so I got to like you know turn it on and slide into the frame and just the look on their faces was priceless but it was a great time and I'm so happy that I did this because for the past two three weeks I've been looking forward to this and like that makes a huge difference and it goes to show you that even though we're ending the year online and that's not ideal for any of us it's all about what you make of it something as simple as going on to Amazon and buying a costume before the award ceremony made it so much better and it made it exciting not only for me but also for my students and it goes to show you that these like transformations don't have to be anything major I made two pieces of candy to go on my wall put on a costume made some slides that was literally it it was not a lot of prep work so hopefully this inspired you for some ideas for your classroom I would love to hear your ideas down in the comments and if you enjoyed this video please give it a thumbs up share it out with your teacher friends make sure you are subscribed to my channel and you have hit the notification bell so that you do not miss any future videos as always thank you for watching I love you all so much don't forget to put your passive pants on and I'll catch you in the next slide it is several hours later but this popped into my mind so I want to make sure I share it it first of all I understand candy is not healthy however even though I am a huge supporter of a healthy lifestyle my mom is a dental hygienist so I grew up being the kid whose mom would donate like toothbrushes to the class and would come in and do teeth cleaning demonstrations like I get it however I'm a big believer in balance and it's okay to have candy every now and then the other thing I wanted to briefly touch on is allergies obviously if you are in the classroom you need to be very careful with student and allergies if a student has a peanut allergy you cannot use any candy that has peanuts or is manufactured on equipment that man or that makes candy with peanuts however because these are virtual I was able to be more flexible but I did keep those allergies in mind so things like tree nut allergies peanut allergies begin like any of those things I made sure that their award did not have those ingredients in it [Music]
