how do you turn a small white boring room it's something that looks very cinematic and professional it's actually really simple because it's all about lighting three lights to be exact in this video I'm gonna take you step by step on how to create something like this and the space that we're going to be working with is about a two and a half by three meter space it's a very simple setup literally just a chair in front of a desk that we're going to use as our backdrop there's a monitor on it a lab and some accessories it is sinful but effective first things first before we get started we need to start with a blank or actually dark canvas so make sure that you turn off all of your lights close the curtains and turn off any screens that you have in your space are you ready three two one the first light that we need is a key light because the key light is our main source of light that we will be using to light us for a key light we need three things we need a studio light a soft box and a stand this could be a regular stand or a c-stand in my case I am using a Wally Max one because it was only 40 bucks I am currently being led by the amaran 100d this is a great light for creators because it is more affordable but the quality is really good and attached to that we have the light Dome SE by aperture now the reason why I want to use a softbox or light Dome is because this will soften the light otherwise it's going to look very terrible without a softbox so you definitely need a softbox fun fact Amarin and aperture are actually the same company they're just two different brands that use the same technology but aperture is geared more towards film Productions like higher level Productions whereas amaran is more focused on the Creator which is why it's a little bit more affordable and it's focused on smaller setups that will work in whatever space you have as a Creator another fun fact I actually partnered up with amaran in this video which is super exciting after years of using their products both amaran and aperture products but more importantly I had to take that opportunity to ask if I could give away a lie to you now they said no we want to a giveaway two lights so make sure that you keep watching the video because somewhere in this video we're going to be giving away not one but two lights if the soapbox is too big for you because maybe you're in a smaller space or whatever Enron actually just released this new softbox oh hello there this is the amaran mini SE it is smaller and it is so easy to use because this is geared towards creators so it's all about making things easy for the Creator creators making it efficient all you have to do is just cool the rods like this like I've just been doing and then it's ready set up in like 10 seconds if you want to then break this down because maybe you're filming in your living room or in your kitchen or basically wherever you have space right all you have to do is just pinch this four times like this and you're done the placement of the light is going to make a big difference in how you look on the camera and how your setup will look in the camera the most cinematic way to light yourself is to put the light in about a 45 degree angle so you create this little triangle under your eye which is also known as the Rembrandt triangle however like I said in my previous video I am not a big fan of this angle for myself because I think that it accentuates like textures and little pimples on my face that I personally don't find very flattering now if you feel the same way you can do what I do because what I do is I literally just put the light right in front of me tilt it down a little bit so there's no Shadows on my face if you're wearing glasses what I would recommend to do is to put the light more to the side of you so you avoid that glare in your glasses now you'll see that this results in a lot of Shadows on the other side of your face which is why I would recommend to add a fill light to light yourself evenly obviously this means that you will not be able to let yourself with three lights but with four lights so another great tip that I actually got from a friend of mine who is a DP and works a lot of sets is to tilt your glasses down ever so slightly to avoid the glare all right now it is time to spice up our setup and the way that I really like to do that is by adding colors especially when you have a white wall it's really nice to use some RGB colors and I always like to use tubes so that's what we're doing in this case we're using a brand new emerin tubes these are the two feet shoes right here and these that boys are here are the four feet tubes they're all as tall as I am the difference between these tubes and the tubes that I've used in a previous video is that these are called the pt2c and the pt4c and the other ones are called bt2c and B t4c I don't know why you're doing this to me everon now the main difference between those tube lights that I used in my last video and these brand new tube lights is the p and that stands for Pixel so what that means is that you cannot just get a solid collar with this for example and the effect but also you can create a gradient and even a rainbow if you want if we take a quick look at the menu we can see this new option that is called pixel FX now if if I select that we open up this new menu where we can select color fade color Cycle One pixel Chase two pixel Chase my personal favorite and I know that I wear all black but my personal favorite is the rainbow effect how cool is this now if we select rainbow there's also some other options because we can change the speed we can change the direction that we want the rainbow to move in and something that I would really recommend if you're going to use the rainbow setup for your setup is to pause it because when you're shooting your a-roll and you're editing it you're going to thank me later if you're pausing it honestly the uses for tube lights are endless because you could use it as a fill light but also as a practical to let your video set up for Creative projects for product photography and because they're tubes they also fit in very narrow areas or corners for example and these two specifically are all battery powered which makes it even easier to use them because now we can use them literally anywhere and everywhere for a couple of hours for lighting a video setup like this one you could go for the four foot tubes because they will just cover more of the the wall so they'll light the walls a little bit better but just like I did in my last video you could also light your walls perfectly with the two foot tubes speaking of these tubes you could win them now if you want to win one of the tubes there's going to be two lucky winners so if you want to win one here's what you want to do on Instagram go follow Ameren Europe and myself Lila from YouTube and then here in the comments write Haley to be submitted to this giveaway like I said for this setup we're using the forefoot tubes but at the end of the video I'll also show you what this will look like with the two foot tubes I'm gonna show you something that no one shows you or maybe I'm just the only one who does it like this but I am a firm believer and you just gotta work with what you got so what I'm going to do I'm gonna get this suitcase and we're gonna put the light on there I'm just gonna put it right here like this and then I need something else let me see don't tell anyone okay this is also brand new light if you want me to take review on it just let me know this is the amaran 300C which is a studio like but it's like it's a full color so any color it's basically just an RGB um Studio light that you could also use the daylight options and stuff but for now it is our stand and Bob's your uncle foreign if you're working with lights especially lights that are in frame you could consider using something like a black promised filter this one is the Tiffin black promise 1 8 which is very subtle but it does help create a little bit of a softer look and a little bit more of a dreamy Misty look since all of the lights that we're using in this setup are emerald lights we can actually link them all together in an app called cytuslink in this app you can create a scene for your setup link All of the Lights simultaneously and then you can control them in the app you can either turn them off or on Chasey tends to be the color Etc this really helps to optimize your workflow because you just open the app turn them on and you're basically ready to go for this setup I decided to go with the famous teal and orange-ish look now the reason why this works so well and why you see it in so many videos is because these are contrasting colors now obviously you can use any color in your setup but a big tip is to consider using contrasting colors because it just works as a Finishing Touch to make the background more interesting I just turned my screen back on and and I chose a wallpaper that I really think works well with this setup because it feels like the lights are an extension of the wallpaper now this part is totally optional but if you have a lamp somewhere in your house that you could use to put in the background to just spice it up a little bit more you could put a bulb in that like the RGB b7c bulb by aperture which can also be controlled with the side is link app I just turned it to a bit of an orange color because I really like how that mixes well with the teal to create another T1 orange look right there on the other side of the desk I put two glass light bulbs that I found somewhere in my apartment I put them there because I really like how the highlights make them pop and make the background a little bit more interesting you could put anything made of glass in your setup to create that same effect now if you really want to make them pop more you could put like an aperture MC either on the side or on the back to separate them a bit more from the background if you really want to spice up your setup even more you could put a light strip behind your desk for example or you could just Place some tubes on your desk to light it up even more and that is how he went from this to this and this is what it would look like if you use the two foot tubes again links to all of the products that I mentioned in this video will be in the description if you want to check any of them out now if you're still unsure about what studio likes to use or maybe you're looking for a smaller Studio light then check out my review right here or check out this video right here and of course amaran huge thank you for sponsoring this video and good luck with the giveaway don't forget about the
