but if you have a brand new music video that's out i know you haven't seen it i have not seen it let's go check it out because what we're just talking about is very relatable i think in terms of what's kind of prolifia is going through in there rise of success at the moment why don't we check it out let's watch this is the new music video about politia called veronica that's a meshuggah song title i already love it so what's a great message why don't we check it's a cover maybe it is you haven't seen this yet seen it let's let's check it out and see what it's about [Music] [Music] so [Music] i thought it's kind of a cool shot for the spinning and then swapping people out so they have to sync it all up i don't think it's actually that technical a shot because you could be able as long as you have it like for pre-programmed and how i know anyways okay in the weeds it's a really cool song actually we'll comment on the full thing when it's done yeah we'll go back and recap you what we think see this is why we have the screen so that when something's wrong we see right right there right [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Music] sick sick that was sick that was really sick what do you think i think it sounds very politia which i think is probably some of the highest praise you could ever give a band they've like defined a sound that you know it's them if you heard that you'd be like that's politia or a band that's ripping off politia that's a pretty amazing thing to be able to say about a band like you've defined such a sound that you could tell it's them instantly or they've influenced other bands so much that they would sound just like them and that's what it sounds like so right off the bat that's great i love the i love the mixed production there's a lot of they've always been doing this thing where they're sort of mixing traditional nerd prague guitars in a pop song format you see the songs three and a half 3 15 right so it's less three and a half minutes it sounds like the guitars when they're not doing crazy stuff or doing like vocal lines right there's a whole point and there's like a very sort of traditional arrangement it's easy to follow the chord change is easy easy to follow the drums are very sort of just simple backbeat stuff and then they're throwing in all these little bits like with the drums like doing like the gospel chops kind of stuff which doesn't interact with the beat just being simple but gives it flavor and some flair it's the same thing on guitar and they have a very unique style it's very tough to perform so it's technical then on top of that it's tough to cop without sounding like you're just trying to sound like prolifia so they've created something new by basically taking these elements which it's very clear they're just genuine fans of someone who is not a fan of these individual elements would not be able to bring it together in a cohesive way but it sounds good because they like all these things they're bringing it together no one really thought to bring these elements together oh let's bring like nerd guitar and hip hop like no one ever thought to do that and they're doing it very very well because they genuinely understand both sides and where that crossover will be right and then they understand the value of having a shorter song simple arrangement and how the ear reacts to vocal lines that are simple something you can hum along to these guys could shred outright everyone like i know and they could be doing that the whole song and they don't and they do it in the most clever way where it's like they can have a line that is very catchy but they're throwing these little flourishes these little fast things you know either beginning at the end but the main line is something that you could hum that's genius i think it's great song the video is on brand they obviously have a very strong sense of style and it's very clear that whoever directed it or whoever's in charge like the production side of that is is very much in contact with like the music video side making sure like the vision is there there's an artistic vision a look that they're trying to maintain we're talking about i think the mic was off the little pieces on the guitar and like what that is and is that something they would sell is that a kit that you could get for your guitar or something like that that's all very clever and it can be then rolled into further marketing probably the look of the album i just like it when there's attention detail on everything and it looks like no detail was spared here so that's my reaction i think it's pretty crazy right you never thought instrumental guitar would be cool again yeah ah that's a great way of putting it that's a concise way they made instrumental guitar cool again toasting kind of came out animals as leaders to kind of push the boundaries yeah and then we're looking at italian instrumental from another different angle that never we never see but what tosin did is he pushed it and more for like musicians where it's like you can do that like what i'll show animals leaders a lot of non-musicians they'll be like this is cool but you know it's a lot right you don't need to be a musician to enjoy that and you you'd be like oh wow these guys are very good at their instruments like as an aside i feel like the kind of people who listen to this and would say that would also say that about guitarists that aren't good you know so they'd actually be right in this case that's the beauty of is that they can reach the people that our bands would really struggle to because way too far down the nerd scale and they're managing to sneak that stuff in so that guy's like they're like whoa i see what you're doing that's awesome but then the average person who doesn't know anything about music just wants something that sounds good has a product that actually sounds good to listen to i could see the word like sellout or genre change or whatever like get through that but i think it's very genuine i actually think you you only can pull this off if you do it genuinely if you're trying to hit a mark you're never going to be able to make music and there's no way you can set up playing guitar instrumental music and obviously they're like at the in the spotlight now because they're either gonna blow up completely have a super successful album or people gonna turn around and hate them for being successful they're at that crossroad now it's just yeah in a way like like you said they made it cool they start elevating to this level where it has access to people we can sort of look at them to see like how far can it go because our bands aren't gonna figure that out they're the band to figure out like how far can you really take that does it sort of peak here or does it go way further i could see a lot of potential like if they can cross over into that that hip-hop crowd because hip-hop is very big right now they can cross over into that in some fashion one of the things that's really interesting to me i struggle a lot with hip-hop personally you know like i'll respect any type of music anyone who's hustling it's like good for you man but like personally i don't listen to it i don't really listen to lyrics so much i think so for a lot of people who like it my understanding is it's either a lyrical connection or a stylistic or aesthetic connection just something aesthetically that's happening sonic whatever it is that is what's getting them and that's where we're like i'm just not feeling that connection right and then there's also this sentiment that like on that side you don't really need to master an instrument of any kind be successful or to make music right and maybe you are like a great lyricist or like you know or created delivering vocals in whatever quality you need delivered to be successful there but instrumentation and all that is not really a focus if these guys could sort of bring that and bridge that gap there there could be some sort whether it's them or someone else that brings all the nerds from our side over the other side because they'll be like wow and the instrumentation's really cool and that could be that could be sort of our gateway drug into that world and it's also putting guitar in the forefront of popular music we've been dying for guitar music on the radio i mean the only time i hear maybe some guitar music is john mayer yeah and i look at this way look like we talk about anita strauss doing a pop gig now demi lovato she's like well you're bringing guitar out in the world here showing something else it's not easy to do to do i think you know when driving force started the tower was just there yeah who's coming back shredding was like on his way back guitar solo and everything i mean i think you guys did a lot of good for that that combined with guitar hero and all that made it cool because they have gamers that was like for that moment and then you're right like they just sort of disappeared after that there wasn't really anything to sort of carry the torch from there and it became like a really underground nerd thingy so maybe you're right maybe maybe there is some power wielded by these like pop bands or whatever that could like bring out guitarists in the interest of making it more of a mainstream thing you know hey you guys write this in your comment let us know let me share and me let me know in the comments i'll read every one what you think about our reaction to this new prolific song right in there and make sure you follow michelle on social and peripheral on youtube and of course dragon force and hermione youtube [Music] you
