Dr. Jerry Falwell's Vision for Liberty University

[Music] we're standing here on Liberty Mountain we're standing on the ground that more three years we afraid that will one day be the site of greatest Christian school we prayed that way we believe God gave us this mountain for that purpose there's no one with more faith more compassion more vision or virtue more determination more confidence than Jerry Falwell man who love God with all of his heart and he loved people with all of his heart what I try to do if I thought I might succeed well I thought I might win my city to trace legible God will increase your vision young people and you need to get a vision that and I want you to just be a walk I want you to be on the playing field of life God has bigger plans for you than you have for yourself I've said to these young people repeatedly and I say it again to you today you are the hope of America when you leave the graduation platform of Liberty I want you to leave it running leave and running with a vision burning in your soul you're gonna change this world for Christ I had a vision to build a Christian educational institution where the Christian worldview was mutually agreed upon I also had a burden of vision that we would compare favorably with everything Notre Dame Brigham Young to so well with Foreman and roman-catholic is a world-class institution and everyone here knows of my burning vision is to build a distinctively Christian University with 25,000 resident students 25,000 external students the buildings and the 4,000 acre campus are nothing more than a means to an end the end to train up champions for Christ who can go into the business world into education into government into the pulpits of the world carrying the glorious gospel of Christ I'll never forget that crab-eating back in the snow because it seems like their God just came down upon us but we walked we trudged out of that stove believe me there's gonna be a university here on this mountain [Music] you
