how's it going everyone it's Rick racket back with you again for 2024 the first video of 2024 uh got a new steam deck tutorial for you uh before I get into it though I want to thank everyone that has subscribed to this channel I'm up to 100 subscribers which is just awesome really sincerely thank you to everyone never thought I would get anywhere close to that so I'm I'm ecstatic I I really am so again very much appreciate the support I hope to continue to deliver the content that you guys want to see um More Steam deck tutorials for sure um and today I've got a pretty simple and straightforward one uh if you've tried to play multi-disk GameCube games on Steam deck you may find that the process of swapping discs swapping discs even though you're not actually doing that uh is not really that straightforward now most people have probably figure this out but just in case here's the tutorial so if you have a game like the twin Snakes uh you may be tempted to just try and launch the game like you would any other game from the steam deck menu I have it right here you can definitely start the game up and but once you get to the part where it swaps disc you're up crap Creek so to speak uh so in order to get around it what you have to do is actually launch the game from the dolphin menu but there's an extra step involved I've already got this pulled up what you're going to do is go over here to where it says config uh and to scroll through the menu or to use your trackpad which is basically what you have to do here you're going to have to hold down on the steam button on your steam deck while moving your thumb over the trackpad once you go into the settings what you want to do is find this option here where it says change discs automatically you just want to click the right trigger on that to click the check box and then press the B button to exit out and then go down to the Twin Snakes you want to launch dis one click on it and then click play now the other thing here is is that by default the controls won't work like none of the buttons work I don't know why it just doesn't so for the twin Snakes in particular I've created a custom control scheme that I believe I've uploaded if you go and look for it and it's not there just leave a comment below and I'll go back in and re-upload it or or upload it for the first time I'm not sure I'm pretty sure I uploaded it though but what you're looking for is this right here uh the dolphin menu uh slth twin Snakes basically what I've done is replicated the control style of Metal Gear Solid 2 for the twin Snakes the only difference is that you have to press the x button for confirmation so when you're scrolling through the menus uh you have to press X as opposed to the b or a button which to be honest is very awkward it's it's not the way it's supposed to be but when you're actually playing the game the controls are one to one the same as Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 uh it's just the way that the twin Snakes is because of the GameCube controller it's weird but anyway uh the thing is you'll only have to do this for multidisk games for other games you might want to customize customize the control scheme a little bit differently but with games that are just one disc Just Launch them from the steam deck menu and and by the steam deck menu I mean this menu like right here just select the the game and then you're good to go I don't know why I lost video feed there right so here we are at the door and I'll say rough hand that the footage might look a little choppy this game runs at 60 frames per second most of the time so I'm guessing it's just something to do with the capture card or OBS I don't know but anyway uh here's the door this is where the game will swap discs normally here comes the the menu or the thing to tell you and you see a thing up there in the top left corner says changing discs automatically so whmo it's done and that's how you do it it's it's a little bit annoying to have to go through the dolphin menu in order to pull that off and I I hope at some point that the um people behind the Dolphin Emulator can maybe come up with some kind of work around for that uh specifically for the steam deck to have just like some kind of quick access menu because like one of the other problems with the twin Snakes playing it on the steam deck is the controller swapping with psycho mantis uh I don't really know of a good workaround for that basically you just have to die three times and then shoot the two statues in order to be able to do any damage to psychomantis but anyway that's it I hope that you all found this useful if you did please consider hitting that like button consider subscribing to the channel uh leave a comment below if you have a question about anything that I might have missed I think I pretty much covered everything but uh yeah and at some point I will try to do a tutorial on how to install the HD texture mod for the twin Snakes on the steam deck because I'm sure there are some people that will find that useful but uh yeah that'll do it for now I'll be back hopefully soon with some with a new video I need to get back into the playthroughs I really need to do mgs2 so that might be next but I I never try to commit to anything because I always end up eating my words on that but uh yeah that's it thanks for watching I'll see you guys next time take care
