What I find interesting is seeing all their answers together and how every one of them from the owner to the players all mention the commissioner's report, because the report probably makes them look cleaner than they actually are.

I'll never believe the Astros didn't cheat in 2018 and 2019.

Itโ€™s been really fun shitting on the cheating astros and everything, But what makes me a little annoyed is the fact that Cole just came out and basically defended his former team, saying they didnโ€™t cheat during his tenure when everyone else on the team believes they did. I know heโ€™s not supposed to publicly spill the truth because of how it would make him look. It just makes me wonder if he privately told his new teammates the real story on what he knew in 2019. That must be an awkward situation for him to have to explain the details to the team that was potentially cheated out of two title runs.

I have no doubt that you can make the case for this. That being said, I'm somewhat surprised the video narrator hasn't tried making a career as a legal consultant.

does body language and the evidence prove that the Houston Astros are lying about not cheating in 2018 and 2019 find out next welcome back to the channel shakers derek van Schaik here the houston astros cheated in the 2017 season by using a camera in the outfield zoomed in on the catcher to steal signs they would watch that live feed in the dugout tunnel and decode the signs the catcher put down for the pitcher and then alert their team's batter and baserunners of what pitch is coming which of course is a massive advantage but how did they alert their batter and baserunners they would do a series of loud bangs on a trash can in their dugout tunnel here's an example of it listen for the trash can bangs did you hear those two bags it's probably a little difficult to hear so let's amplify the audio so you can't miss it now keep in mind this has been going on throughout the game and naturally the pitcher is gonna pick up on the pattern kind of like why is it that every time I'm about to throw something other than a fastball I hear these loud bangs coming out of the Houston Astros dugout so far far the pitcher here calls the catcher over and notice as he's walking to meet the catcher he's looking into the Houston Astros dugout kind of like those dirty rats are stealing her signs Barker says to his catcher's something along the lines of I think they're stealing your signs so they switch up their signs and the next pitch when the batter doesn't have the correct knowledge of what pitch is coming he strikes out in November 2019 Major League Baseball finally started to investigate the Houston Astros for cheating and in January 2020 found that they in fact cheated in 2017 the year they won the World Series and found some cheating in 2018 but no cheating in 2019 even though in 2019 they made it into the World Series but did the Astros really stop most of their cheating in 2017 we're gonna break down body language and piece together all the evidence to finally reveal the truth now let's get started usually when we get a report there are no facts it is somebody calls up we think they have our signs what MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said there is bogus especially with what happened in the 2017 Houston Astros cheating the Astros were communicating the stolen signs to the batter by banging on a trash can in plain earshot of everyone in the stadium and those watching at home Farquhar the pitcher we just saw figured out how the Astros were cheating while he was simultaneously pitching on the mound the complaint that the Astros were stealing signs and communicating those stolen signs to the batter by banging on something in their dugout area most of the evidence can be attained by just watching the games there been reports out there formal complaints that you were at least aware there was cheating going on some people have suggested it's the worst-kept secret in baseball the single biggest challenge in the investigation you need someone to cooperate with you someone to give you factual information everybody who knew the real facts about what we're going on we're kind of within that cone of silence birdcall sorrows [Music] I have a great investigations Department the commissioners report makes it clear that you were not an active participant that you did not endorse it meet former Astros manager AJ Hinch who was suspended from baseball for one year due to this cheating scandal and subsequently fired by the team's owner the investigation found that AJ was not an active participant because he didn't set up or manage the technology to use to cheat twice you damaged the monitor that was used to steal science I didn't initiate her I didn't endorse it but I was the manager and I think there's a responsibility when you're in a position to end it I hit it I mean I just about I mean I didn't like AJ gives a quick shoulder shrug when he says he didn't like it which indicates uncertainty of what he just said which makes sense because if he really didn't like it why didn't he stop it well because it's a huge advantage for his team to know what pitch is coming but it's also clearly cheating out in the open where everyone can hear the trash can bangs coming out of their dugout and if they're got he's in trouble get to the bat to it yeah I didn't like it AJ took a bat to the monitor what do you think that tells us right it was probably done in rage and not done after pondering how epically wrong it is to cheat therefore AJ smashing the cheating monitor with a bat could have been done after her team loss kind of like you guys are using this to cheat and still can't even get a hit I just feel like I could have done more looking back especially the leader that I feel like I am in 2019 versus you know where I was in 2017 and where I've grown but he seems to be referring to the baseball seasons where in 2017 he allowed cheating but in 2019 he's grown a lot since then kind of like how was the old AJ when we're analyzing people it's always important to know that person's motivation AJ will be looking for a job in baseball after his suspension is over in 2021 so he needs to come across as a changed man from 2017 in this interview so the commissioners report said there was whistling there was clapping there was yelling eventually they settled on the system with the banging at the trashcan you have to be hearing the banging going on correct you know I heard it I heard it thank AGA was not an active participant is way too generous wait your team is cheating throughout this season and you're constantly being reminded of the cheating with loud trashcan booms coming from the tunnel of your dugout you are actively supporting the cheating throughout this season the player is stated that if manager AJ Hinch told them to stop engaging in the conduct they would have immediately stopped hitting the monitor with a bat wasn't enough and clearly it wasn't I'm much that much more confident today than I was in 2017 he's blaming it on his prior lack of confidence which sounds better than if we really think about what was lacking it seems to be his morals ethics and integrity in 2019 you were being asked about the Astros stealing signs cheating use whatever terminology you want do you remember that at Yankee Stadium that series I remember now here AJ is asked about a news conference after a game his Astra's played against the Yankees in the 2019 American League Championship Series keep in mind this interview was less than four months ago and remember the Astros and the baseball commissioner have consistently defended that the Astros didn't cheat in 2019 let's see if that's actually the case hey Jay what do you think of the allegations you guys were whistles to try to gain some kind of advantage immediately AJ goes from open body language before the question was asked to defensive self-comforting body language as soon as the question was asked man I'm glad you asked that question and I thought it would come up today first AJ says he thought this question would come up today meaning he thought very much about how he was going to answer this which tells us that he seems to believe that this accusation needs a good explanation which gives that accusation merit AJ gives a big nervous gulp as soon as he starts answering as we're going through this interview see if he can pick out his deceptive body language I'm gonna warn you though it's over the top and it's you know we talked about this the other day and we start to hear a little crackle in his voice when he answers in an in reality it's a joke but did you hear that nervous waiver in his voice but also noticed how high his shoulders are right now protecting his vulnerable neck when we're feeling nervous or scared such as when we're being deceptive our shoulders subconsciously rise you know major league baseball does a lot to ensure the another big nervous gulp but also notice what he's saying the fairness of the game right he's talking about how the MLB does a lot to protect the fairness of this sport which is a lot of convincing and not just conveying liars will typically use more words when answering a question than those who are truthful since Liars know they're being deceptive they subconsciously feel the need to over-the-top convince you into believing them AJ breaks off his self comforting body hold because he started to sweat from the fear of getting caught that we naturally feel when lying this fear is amplified when the number of people watching in person and on TV is large such as here also did you notice anything else let's rewind this last piece see if he could spot it the fairness of the game right he's starting to breathe more heavily because his fight flight or freeze defense mechanism kicked in which happens when we tell a lie there's people everywhere if you go through the dugouts and the clubhouses and the and the hallways there's like as you saw before AJ broke off that self-comforting body hold but went right to his self comforting handhold so many people around it well maybe he's not lying this is over the top normally people are not as easy to read so this is your first video with me don't get the wrong impression that picking outliers is always this easy so many people around that boys crack nervous tension in his vocal cords because of his apparent deception anything that are doing this and then nervous clearing of his throat to try and release his vocal tension you know when I get contacted about some questions about whistling it made me laugh his heart rate is surely fast as we can observe from his rough vocal patterns and giving big nervous gulps to not make his nervousness obvious through an increased breathing rate because it's ridiculous and and had I known that that it would take something like that to to set off the Yankees or any other team more nervous wavering in his voice and a lot of out of character stuttering stammering and crutch words we would have practiced it in spring training now notice how much different he's sitting compared to before the question was asked yeah he's completely turtled his neck in his shoulders in fear which is common of someone who is lying also wasn't that a very convoluted and belabored answer to supposedly a stupid and even insulting question that the Astros cheated to win if he was honest it would be a simple direct quick response I give something that is supposedly so stupid and insulting so much time in explanation he was apparently trying to convince and not just convey people have attached anyway that answer to what we now know about what happened in 2017 well you're in defending your club about not cheating now after that interview we just saw do you think AJ will own up to cheating in 2019 let's watch the accusation was that you were getting signs and relaying by wrestling tooth and we were yep AJ still denies it and here's his bogus explanation of why he came across is so uncomfortable I didn't like the line of questioning it was uncomfortable I came out firm I know it looks bad because it kind of gets blurry in the entire organization over the course of a few years here's the big question to AJ why did you stop cheating in 2017 if it apparently was so successful and you didn't get caught the Astros won their first ever World Series in 2017 so why would they stop logic says they would either continue or escalate their cheating but claim they basically just stopped cheating in 2018 and 2019 if that was the case we would surely proactively hear from AJ and the players telling us about moments of moral and ethical clarity discovering that cheating is wrong and deciding not to do it anymore but we really didn't hear anyone say any of that oh yeah it's way too late for the Astros to take my advice and play the moral clarity card now we would expect something like that to be said right after the report was released based on what we heard and what we know it actually makes more sense that they would amp up their cheating technology 2019 season we've heard reports about Astros players wearing buzzers underneath their uniforms that's how they're getting the signal what pitch is coming can you assure us there with no buzzers or anything like that buzzers to signal which pitch is coming seems to be the next logical step of taking their cheating technology to that next level the trashcan banging worked okay to start but it's kind of risky because it's out in the open for everyone a year and when the crowd gets really loud it's difficult for the batter to hear the banks it was suspected that Jose Altuve used the buzzer here to know the Yankees pitcher was gonna throw an off-speed pitch when Jose hit this championship winning home run in 2019 if you ask your teammates not to tear your shirt why was that this is what some believe to be his buzzer and may also explain why he didn't want his teammates the rip off his shirt in celebration now what does AJ say about the buzzer accusation see if you can spot any signs of possible deception well in Commissioner we got investigated for three months and the Commissioner's Office did his thorough an investigation as anyone could imagine was possible amania I know he mentioned that the emails and the texts and the messages and I believe him AJ refers to the investigation claiming that it exonerated them of cheating using buzzers but he's the manager he's in the dugout he's in the locker room if anyone knows AJ would know so why doesn't he just use his own words to confirm that they didn't use buzzers lying is a lot of work it's uncomfortable and even dangerous because of the possibility of getting caught so many times instead of directly saying a lie the deceptive person will find another way to answer the question still favorable to them but without having to actually lie also did you catch this Bart thing well the Commissioner we got investigated for three months and the Commissioner's Office did is thorough an investigation as anyone could imagine was possible I mean yeah I know he mentioned the emails and the texts and the messages yes the squeaky vocal nervous tension is back along with tightly pursed lips at this moment of suspected deception and I believe him we found no evidence not a single witness who could corroborate that there were buzzers being used during the 2019 season indeed that they were doing anything inappropriate during the 2019 season altuve let's just look at the MLB investigation versus coming out and saying I never used a buzzard how did you react to that now this is the jose altuve interview that was just mentioned see if he can spot any deception good about this talk of buzzers that kind of get about us yeah that's ridiculous you know I'm a big dude their investigation they didn't find anything did you catch it let's rewind it and break it down what about this talk of buzzers that kind of get us first we see them given out of place smirk and then quickly a self distracting cough which seems to be done so we can avoid grinning widely right now we're suspecting that this might be duping delight but remember when we're looking for signs of deception we're looking for clusters of signs which point to deception and not a single sign because those alone don't mean anything let's continue I'm a big dude their investigation did you notice how Jose talked about how the investigation exonerated them just like AJ did earlier and the Commissioner's Office did is throw an investigation and I believe them instead of Jose personally denying the accusation it's the same reason why AJ referred to the investigation and not personally denied it instead of lying it's so much safer and easier to talk about how the investigation didn't find anything and of course just because the investigation supposedly didn't find that they used buzzers doesn't mean that they didn't use buzzers or similar devices now Jose's body language cluster of shoulder shrug an increasingly tight-lipped smirk indicates likely deception here the smirk is duping delight that he knows something but won't say the shoulder shrug indicates he doesn't fully believe what he just said and the increasingly tight pursed lips indicate he's holding back he's duping smile about also keeping his mouth shut feeling like he's preventing the truth from escaping his mouth he definitely seems to know more but he's certainly not going to say I thought that that answer could have been better given what we were told during the investigation Jim are you confident your team didn't use any wearable devices or buzzers during the 2019 season now the Astros owner Jim crane can you guess what he says the Commissioner arrest on the report and I'm confident it's accurate I think you're noticing a trend here right I'm a big dude they're investigation they didn't find anything 2019 nobody wore bosses nobody wore Buster's that's a lie finally someone admitted they were buzzers in 2019 this is known as a Freudian slip typically we catch ourselves or correct ourselves when we miss speak but when the truth slips out sometimes it goes unrealized because it felt right when it was said which seems to be what happened here the reason I'll say I do it you may be wondering how that type of cheating went undetected by MLB investigators there are many possibilities MLB investigators may not be very inquisitive they may have been paid off by the billionaire owner Jim crane to look the other way the Astros could have hit it too well or the MLB doesn't want everyone to know that the Astros were cheating for three years and they failed to follow up on those cheating claims and stop them how bad do you think that would look for the Commissioner and Major League Baseball I understand people's desire to have the players pay a price for what went on here I think if you watch the players watch their faces when they have to deal with this issue publicly they have paid a price if you don't know the facts [Music] the mo B's investigation does not seem correct a second investigation done by independent investigators needs to be done so what penalties did the Astros receive for their massive cheating conspiracy the Astros GM and manager got suspended for one year the team was fined five million dollars and they lost them draft picks that's it nothing happened to any of the players who cheated and the Astros got to keep their 2017 World Series title I think what bothers a lot of people in all this is that it just doesn't seem fair for all the players and fans who it affected you know didn't only affect us as the Yankees you know it affected fans of the game guys are going they're playing a fair and square and you know get beat up a little bit and now they're out of a job because of it that's it ain't right I could sit up here and lie to you and say that you know I've forget about it and move on but it's always it's always gonna be in the back your head a little bit yeah you're always gonna think about it and it doesn't make any sense that they were to properly stop cheating I she was so successful for them in 2017 give this video a thumbs up if you think they continue cheating beyond 2017 give this video a thumbs down if you think they magically stopped cheating in 2017 now in the comments what do you think should happen to the Astros and those players for cheating let everyone know in the comments below now hit that subscribe
