okay now this is the exciting part we're going to go ahead and show you the proper way to use a corner trowel I've watched several videos on YouTube and they have a tendency to go ahead and put the moat on with a six inch flat knife and go back through with the corner trowel I'm going to actually show you how to eliminate put it on with the six inch flat trail and just put on four corner trout saves you time and you have a nice second job when it gets done but what you do basically got two flat sides like you got two flat trowels you go ahead and use a white button and you'll wipe it so look something like this you store it up at the top at the corner you push the nose in and as you pull it down you push the handle back and group and also in the charts taper it out once again that side this side okay and down and as you go remember start in the corner and then flatten the trowel out as you go down so this is what it looks like as you get going you come from the bottom then there's one trick what you want to look at is see this right here how slowly spotty when you get done you want to make sure that that's nice and you've got to beat a mud on both edges because when you do when you feather it out it'll go ahead and give you a nice pretty edge okay so now that we got it on you want to make sure you don't have any sheetrock show them because if you do your tape will bow in preschool the tape and now that's all pretty full if you just take this quarter put it in the corner and just gently go down and every so often and set it so it lays there now we're back with the corner trout there's a secret here if you get in a habit if you push here and tilt it back to the noses up like this you can go ahead and start from this side you push here and just push the handle down and just put pressure and it'll set that tight for you can you go ahead and come down go ahead and set itself in the mine and now once you've got it seated with your corner trout just make sure just go over it again and make sure it's seated up tight against the sheetrock and once again just push your finger here that the nose up and push it down you know what if you've got this nice pretty bead on both sides that tells me this is going to be easy to go ahead and use your six inch flat knife to clean it up and one of the tricks I've learned instead of looking straight and perpendicular fashion come off on a 45 put pressure on the outside of the night that feathers it and also what that does is that pushes the mud of us to thin out towards the edge of the joint and every sew up and just clean your knife off you just continue on up and so there's that sight same thing on the outer side remember put pressure on the outside the furthest away from the corner and as you can and if you got a few imperfections which I do here just hit it again and just flush on the outside once again rotate out and that's okay now this is what the first coat looks like so what I've done is I went ahead and set the base mud put the paper down put a top coat down with that all-purpose compound and now what I do is let this dry and I'll put another coat - two coats of +3 USG mud on top of this so we'll go ahead and make this joint finished but if you notice my edges they're nice and smooth so they're ready for the +3 top coat of USG mud okay what we're gonna do now is we've put on the tape we've put on the base coat but we also put on the other coat and so now we're going to do is and what happens is this tape has a tendency to shrink which is normal so we're going to put on the plus three or the blue box now over the top of this which we'll go ahead and make it easy sanding and I'll go ahead and fill in some learnings perfections that's an imperfection is up here you probably can't see it on the camera but then as you go down through those that's more the protection school origin here and so once again let's go ahead and just go over what we've learned the mutton trap go ahead and coat both sides of the quarter trail and on this hair now what you do is you can keep your finger right up here at the top and apply pressure and now to go ahead and keep the point in the groove of the corner it will give you a nice pretty joint as you go down and how you tell is if you get out you're gonna have imperfections in this corner and that tells you that your the nose of the corner trout is not right in the corner at the joint once again get your mud both sides and as you go down just work that mud in and just push it the handle divorces corner of the joint and I don't apply your body they remember we're looking to see how this is so spotty on the edges we want to go ahead and make sure that we have a nice pretty edge that we could work with there's a good am true you can see how that starting to form out and if you notice I started about an inch below the very top and the reason being is so this excess mud up here what does you start reading the corner the top it'll go ahead and leave that big bulk of mud at the top so what you do is you come back in you start at the very top you pull it down and then you run that trout back at the top and that flattens that big hump of mud out in the middle or up top that you want to go ahead and chip out later once again both sides and was dripped from the bottom and finger placement on this corner trout is critical if you don't get it right you find it when you're sweeping this out with the blue mud what we do is typically I'll have a figure in the middle and I'll try to go ahead and put two things on the outside it fills baryonic first once you get going it becomes natural so if you got your fingers up here you got pressure here pressure here and pressure rating the nulls of the trout and pull it down and that has a tendency to keep the nose of the trowel right in the corner of that joint so by the time I get down here I'll have very little sanding to do so you just go ahead and look make sure that that corner is complete you don't have any flaws in there and that looks really good okay once again this go over keep your trowel your flat knife at a 45 pressure on the outside keep there's a 45 and one thing I forgot to tell you it's just a habit I do it if you put your knife about halfway inside of the fresh mud and halfway out on the sheetrock you'll find it's a little bit easier to control and you'll feather join a lot lesser so it's about half and half pressure on the outside of the 945 it you keep fresh on the outside you see imperfection going on here let's just come back up takes care of that so now that joy as I look through it as I go down through it looks good coming back up we've got a little bit of imperfection here you come in with the dry corner trowel start at the bottom place your fingers where they need to be okay so that when it dries I have a little tiny standing here I'm gonna have a little bit of sand in here and I just go over the edges real quick and that edge is done it is ready for paint you
