Disaster! I Bought a Big Rig Semi and It's Already Broken!

well you knew it was bound to happen i just bought my first semi welcome back fit against garage do me a favor like this video subscribe to the channel help us out however you can so you can make more bad financial decisions like this one right here [Music] so here's the deal newbern and i take a road trip to kansas city and lincoln hog by a giant enclosed trailer that'll fit my drag boat inside of and then probably discovered that lincoln hawk did not like having that giant trailer hitched to the back of it the truck had a lot of overhang which is that amount of space between the rear axle and where the hitch is ton of overhang and what that did was put a big lever back here trailer just made the back lincoln hawk bounce which meant uber and i were bouncing off the headliner in the cab and we started looking at our options and we had air rides lincoln hawk yes but not really easily or cost effectively did lincoln hawk really have enough power to tow that trailer no not really so at that point i realized it rides bad with a trailer i need the trailer and it's really pretty gutless with the trailer behind it so i sold lincoln hawk it's gone it's out of our lives [Music] and i would like just to bury you bury my feelings now it's an honest try i guess do i miss it yes however i don't miss the chiropractor and i needed one after that last road trip so sold lincoln hawk visited the chiropractor and then started searching for an actual big rig toter home what's a toter home it is a motorhome built on a big rig truck chassis so with lincoln hawk that was 250-ish horsepower 600-ish foot-pounds of torque diesel this 450 horsepower well over a thousand foot pounds of torque mercedes-benz diesel and air ride suspension and living quarters inside so now that we have this we just got to see how will it how well will it tow my trailer fully loaded let's go as soon as we get some batteries as soon as we get batteries because we just showed up to pay for it and um it wouldn't start and we're pretty sure it's because someone left a light on in the bathroom after newburn came and test drove it last week and uh killed all the batteries in this thing and there's five batteries in this thing but uh the seller is super cool got all the batteries out he's at o'reilly's buying new ones i'm sure once he puts them in we'll test drive it it'll go perfectly and then we'll just hit the road in our new to us totorhome i didn't fuel the batteries 12-volt dave's truck again i wasn't going to say it but you brought it up bubble dave you left the light switch on well maybe they did i don't know but everything you touch with you know electricity tends to tends to burst into flames yeah yeah we're just getting all of our electrical gremlins out of the way but otherwise everything seems to work yeah because it does so how does your skills that switch [Music] okay look i might even know like i'm four inches from the floor your feet don't touch the floor dude like if i want to strand you like just be like staying adults are having stuff happen back here you stay in your seat little guy you know what i like about this truck already i don't have to open the door to get to the seat belt we're in lincoln hawk you had to open the driver's door to get to the seat it's just like like tangled up in the floor under the seat and yeah there we go you have to clutch in or it's automatically neutral just start good starts oh man yeah this is this is different so there's a clutch pedal and no stick shift it's just a box with buttons all right we got air conditioning it feels so good functioning radio dude the mirror power mirrors power mirrors look at that and it vibrates a lot at idle so it's shaking the mirror to where i can't really use it though tinted windows couches it's couches right there tilt telescoping this must be lift this telescope oh yeah look at that down up all right and then push oh till all right dude that's straight up bus driver's style right there like y'all shut up back there it made me stop this tower i'll give you something crap out man you put it down here it's like all right let's go to the bar everybody whole neighborhood we now have air ride suspension and air ride seats which means this has to be better than lincoln hawk push the button for drive here we go all right so now what happens oh i it just shifted oh oh there goes the bottle it's still shifting we're in fourth gear already fifth gear sixth gear i do i'm not doing anything seventh gear eighth gear we're in ninth gear at 42 miles an hour tenth gear at 60 miles an hour i just should've been drinking my drink and didn't spill we're going 70 miles an hour in 10th gear passing this new investment people at 1400 rpm so for comparisons lincoln hawk hit 70 miles an hour at 3 000 rpm it was loud and that was with the two-speed rear end in high gear dude that's pretty sweet this won't work you have a big truck oh my god yeah yeah he's gotta have a regular horn too it's so cute finally the dream i didn't know i had driving an actual big rig has come true like we're doing we're it like we're following mr swift he'll probably crash in a second and then uh we'll avoid it yeah and uh yeah we'll keep on going let's raid truck driving uh companies you start best to worst when you're out on the highway who's doing the most dumb things that's all i ever see even if there's not the worst driving company out there they're the ones that everybody posts that's the one you see the most is swift they're all like up on curbs inside buildings have you like tried the couches and the bed and like shower bathroom like if you you utilize it to its there's enough toilet paper right you might already fix that i got soft all right we made it home now we're really looking over the toader to see what does it need what does it want uh it wants a paint job these aluminum panels and this thing is made almost entirely out of aluminum uh you can buy these in white paint or black paint and the paint is really thin and if you look here that paint is pretty much worn through this is a really low mileage truck it's only got 70 000 original miles but it sat outside almost its whole life so this is going to need vinyl wrapping or a paint job or something because we really can't even buff this out without taking what's left of the paint off of it continental tires awesome tires however the sidewalls are cracked so these need replacing before we go anywhere so it needs tires we're not going to paint it or vinyl wrap anytime soon but at some point it needs that other than that we haven't found anything wrong yet so let's go look inside and try out all the things all right so you got a back door the back door leads into the kitchen area this is a freezer and refrigerator right here you've got some storage here we've got a range for cooking on which i'm really excited about one of the reasons we bought the toader was because we wanted to be able to stay in campgrounds and cook for ourselves and stop eating truck stop food three meals a day so it's got a kitchen sink it's got a microwave lots of lights in here there's a toilet somebody can poop while somebody drives which is kind of awesome it has a caterpillar was it a 10 kilowatt or 12 kilowatt generator oh that was huge it's a big generator it's got a diesel generator that runs off the diesel tanks for the truck and provides power to everything here so now that the generator is running we can fire up the lights the ac i think we can lights aren't working oh wait are all the lights 12 volt lights is that what the deal is maybe the lights back here all oh there we go inside here we've got a stand-up shower which i will for sure be using uh we've got a toilet we've got a vanity essentially we're self-contained like we if we've got to pull over the middle of night and stop at a walmart parking lot we can stay there if we have to uh this box here the reason it's sticking in here and kind of looks like the outside of the trailer is this has what's called a slide out so this couch area right here at the push of a button slides out and then gives you more room inside the toter so when you get somewhere and you're going to stay the night you just move newburn on that way and give me some space over here both couches fold out we're both comfortable sleeping without actually touching each other which is good and then up there's another bed there's no mattress there right now we've got a prehistoric and too small television we've got a prehistoric head unit with some skosh speakers this stuff will probably get upgraded at some point because well it's junk the best part about the toader is while somebody's driving it has a pass-through you can come back here and lay on the couch cook a meal sit on the toilet because the truck has air ride it's possible that maybe you're not getting beat up back here while somebody's driving i don't know we're gonna find out because right now we're road tripping from georgia to tennessee to go look at a trailer to replace the trailer we just bought and put behind lincoln hawk that's a tag trailer it's like a bumper pool deal well this is a gooseneck style toter home so the best way to tow a trailer with one of these is a gooseneck style trailer so we're gonna go look at that and if that works out we'll end up getting rid of the red bumper pull trailer that we just bought like three weeks ago and um thank god my wife doesn't notice really anything that happens in the driveway as long as nothing stays here permanently she's fine but if the toaders sat here and three trailers sat here then she might have an issue with you know my life choices as long as they're out of her view she doesn't care and i love her for that i just gotta close this because we can't uh can't drive around we can't drive down the road without sticking out i just seen a video of a police chase with a motorhome really he there's a thermostat here there's also controls here so which one do i use what's this red button to do my last question is i just hooked up a garden hose to fill the water in the side of the rv and it appears to be filling the gray tank the black tank and the fresh water all at the same time which i don't i don't know why pardon my contraption here but this is where i'm filling the water tank am i filling up the wrong tank i have no idea the best way to round out the squeaks is with stereo that's right i see you got you went to the bathroom and got us a an assortment of cds here yeah my entire cd collection is behind the swinging door in the garage in the bathroom and this truck's old that radio looks old i figured we need cds let's go with ccr all right let's play cds it doesn't a basic radio with bluetooth there's no cd player oh all right well uh we have another cd i guess it's newer than that we'll try the bluetooth we're scooting right on past swift here i'm going to slow down i do i wasn't trying to do that i got on the freeway that was like half throttle it was going 85 allegedly we have four hours and 11 minutes worth of driving as long as we don't hit traffic it says we'll arrive in bristol tennessee at 4 23 p.m i hope we don't have to stop for fuel because the bank closes at five and to buy this trailer we have to pay off the loan with one check and then write another check to the seller for the other part of the amount of money we got to give them for this [Music] trailer 192 miles from bristol the app on my phone weighs says we're gonna get there at 4 33 we've lost 10 minutes so far because just outside of chattanooga we hit traffic then we hit a storm and the storm has slowed everybody down and it's a really good storm like constant rain and so if this truck leaks now is when we'll find it yeah you you look for leaks i'll try to keep us on the road oh my god we got a leak no way where out of the ac unit ahead to the list of things that need repairing the ac leaks the ladder is broke on the back you really can't climb on that thing we've got a little bubble in our window tint some plastic items that are need to be replaced on the interior here that are broken the little corrugated rubber grommet that goes between the door and the a-pillar where the wires go through those are completely just shot like falling apart hopefully they still sell new pieces for a fl-112 waze says we have 2.4 hours of drive time we should get there at 4 34. oh it's clearing up it's cleared up i can see sunshine all right pedal on the ride everybody let's do this that's what it's doing dude it's coming up from the bottom it's just getting like there's we need to get under the truck look at the bottom because this the top is bone dry wow okay have you tried the toilet out yet no i haven't disinfected it yet you may want to wipe it if we didn't have toilet paper and like water i would have to go but now that it's all here at our convenience you don't need it i don't need it yeah i'm good right now ah well you guys missed it but we just enjoyed one of the best benefits of the toter and that is david started driving i'm riding shotgun i was able to use the toilet we lost almost no time during during the driver change and uh i think now i'm gonna be awesome i'm gonna go lay down i'm gonna try out the bed hey floor's wet the whole floor the whole floor is wet it's not uh not the rain i found our water tank and it's no longer full because it's in the carpet okay so this is our freshwater tank which is under the sofa and leaking everywhere question is where is it leaking and can i fix it i got a bad feeling it's leaking like under a seam or something it's either the tank or the water pump because the hoses don't seem to be leaking we're not fixing that right now there we go damn that sucks bristol we made it we once changed the motor outside the front gate for some motor speedway that's true we did it yes we did oh you finished drag week by changing that motor that's right and now we're gonna go find a trailer five miles that way it's crazy so right before we got off the freeway we crossed into virginia and now according to this sign which is blocked by the other little sign tennessee welcomes us back in tennessee other than the water leak not a bad trip gigantic water leak that's going to require we take the carpet out of this thing but other than that all good how's the driving position not great this is still doing it for you i can really reach the pedal like really really work it to get down in there luckily uh you don't really have to use the clutch pedal on this thing all right you're gonna turn right on windsor [Applause] [Music] here we go atc aluminum trailer thank you facebook marketplace all right well water tank and the toter is leaking everywhere it's flooded the inside of it trailer's hitched up owner has left we just checked the lights and we have running lights on the toter but no running lights on the new trailer the brake lights and certain civils do function so we got something going on back here are they flickering at all or anything no not doing nothing we're about three hours from darkness which will suck on the struggle bus um we got no running light power out of the plug in the back of the toter and now we can't find the fuse panel in the freightliner did you find it oh yeah oh damn was something covering that before i remember seeing it ah all right oh you gotta unbolt that just to check it yeah damn everything's behind it okay good times now we got an adventure it's getting dark and we got no running lights on our new trailer you want to go park down there in front of the gate for bristol motor speedway do some work to it just like old times yeah i might have some parts and tools left under in the woods changing engine 12 dave going to work here buddy all right so you found the one on off that's not the truck it's the trailer it'll be this one right here so you can take this apartment or before we do that there's a gang box right there and fuse panel in here i'm going to keep this in here and find out our brand new to us trailer he was saying it worked on his truck but that's all bolt stuff that's not gonna be none of this and maybe it is in the cord well let's take the cap off that see if we got juice there yeah because if we don't have juice there then it's down here in the connection okay so nothing down here makes sense i hate these print caps ah lovely yeah that's not that's not helping so i'm trying to put these back together look oh okay hold on let me unplug it from the truck then now is it arcing together no okay yeah everything's going to the wrong thing on the truck this this trailer plug is wired out of sequence and up there everything's falling apart so we'll just start from scratch oh she's a little corroded he's a little corroded oh dude that is it is rusty but is that the problem is it that bad where it's not conducting at all all right so let's put this back in and then check it here where's the pin out from that one should be like this then right yeah it's in the wrong position this one's sitting up here it should be down here that's weird what do these other ones do at least we're fixing all this before your trip yes we got a leak a leaky water tank no working lights like at least we're fixing all this before my wife goes on a trip in there i was trying to talk her into camping out in the driveway in this thing you imagine put the garden hose up yeah she's the whole thing she gets up to go to the bathroom and her feet get soaking wet dude i had to take my socks off i walked back there without my shoes on soaked by socks and i'm rocking no socks i can live that way she is not accustomed to that sort of thing see this is why you don't have to script tv shows people just buy used cars it doesn't matter what you spend on them doesn't matter how nice they were originally just let them sit around for a bit by the time they get to you they don't work they just don't work and this very well have made it may have worked on his truck but like i said the wire is in the wrong spot for this for this connector so we got to move the tail light the running light wire yep to a different spot this is not 12 volt dave's fault like you guys know that all right we did nothing but during the time that we've been here the toter has leaked that much water all the way down the parking lot and the water tank is still not empty and mind you it's leaking into the truck under the carpet through the floor coming out here in the corner and just raining means when we get home we have to immediately rip out all the carpet and probably replace the wood floor oh yeah by the way try to figure out why the right rear turn signal no longer works on the toter the crazy wiring back there we got some work out of us ah but i still feel good about the purchase it just doesn't love me yet should we go please i'm really late you're really late all right it's out of there just lift that up all right you can see the trailer that's good news i'm glad you can i can't see nothing oh i kind of see it here we go my first right turn with a gooseneck trailer you are blocking the mirror i just wanted to see it you're you're perfect though yeah all trailer right like all these things that i'm just now thinking about i mean it's it's not brand new it's been broken it's it's what five years old five years old if they're gonna fall off [Music] they're probably they're probably that's what it's gonna happen they're gonna fall out now yeah that's gonna happen oh this is when the lights decided to quit working don't say that it's getting dark [Music] and it definitely doesn't stop as good as it used to i'm turning on the transmission retarder there we go [Music] [Music] strong like a tree [Music] dealing with our water problem it's not good dude oh dude so the tank that's been like that a while the tank was positioned here and it was leaking here there's a fitting if you look at the bottom of the tank there's a fitting that's been leaking and somebody tried to patch it oh man but it didn't work so dude but this is all fairly solid if we can dry the wood out it might can salvage the wood but the carpet and the foam's got to go yeah i don't see molds maybe down there there might be mold down here seeing the bummer about this is this is what happens when you buy a used vehicle right you have to test everything new burn had the seller hook a water hose to one of the ports on this toter hump which would send water the faucet the toilet and everything and that's called a city water connection what we didn't do was have him fill the onboard water tank we never put water in it until we got home and tried to make a road trip to get that trailer that's when this thing you know showed its true colors and the fact that it's been leaking a long time and it flooded it now we've torn out the carpet the tank the whole thing and we've discovered this thing's been leaking for probably years and you know it's buyer buyer beware you buy use you're buying someone else's problems and you might save some money in the beginning but you'll be paying for it in the end and as long as you can look at it as an adventure and you don't get sick by inhaling mold all right no big deal fix it and move on which is what we're gonna have to do this carpet was nice we'll be getting some more i hope we can save the wood because that piece of wood right there costs about as much as this toter home right now now's not the time to be replacing wood now is not the time to be replacing wood all right i'm gonna go look at the tank and measure it and see if i don't know why they put a water tank in the toter under the couch there's so much storage under this thing like it seems silly to me to to risk flooding the inside of your toter right uh so we may be ditching that all together getting a different size one and putting it under the toter or getting a brand new one making sure it's really well sealed up and putting it right back where it was i mean we had so many compartments it might be worth just measuring one of the big compartments shoving the tank in there and being done yeah the bigger the better because i mean that water tank is for when you're in a place where you can't hook up to a garden hose and you want to run the sink and you want to take a shower and you want to use the toilet and you want to do dishes that's when that water tank comes comes in handy you know it's a tank of water with a little electric water pump down there and it will send pressurized water throughout the tower but damn all i did was flood this place [Music] by a toner they said it'll be fun they said floor number one floor number two board number three floor number four oh my god no doubt this one's done from all the other water leaks yeah that's my different man yep fire beware fellas ladies fire everywhere at least we caught it we're not gonna sit here and breathe this you know for an extended period of time [Music] why i told her home they said it'll be fun they said and it was right up until the point where our flip-flops were covered and cold wet damn ugly filthy water that didn't belong on the floor of our rv and why did that happen well apparently water tanks go under couches inside of rvs when they crack and you try to poorly repair it with whatever this substance is they leak for many months or years or god knows how long destroying the carpet the padding and a lot of the wood in there we're gonna fix it though we've already got a fan going in there drying out the wood which hopefully we can save we've ripped out what you see here we're going to order a new tank we're going to put it in there back where it was because we kind of want to keep the outdoor storage that we have under the rv and we're just going to make sure it's installed properly there won't be any of this and we'll move on to the next project involving the toter before our epic road trip that's coming up in about three weeks [Music] [Music] too
