hey Deckers today I'm having a look at Diablo 4 the steam version on both the LCD and the OLED steam decks so you can see the top is the LCD and the bottom is the OLED I've turned HDR off on the capture recording but I've left it on on the on screen recording cuz it makes a massive difference on the OLED but there's also a bit of color temperature difference so that's a bit of the color warmth for some reason the default on the LCD is 7500 and the default on the OLED is 6500 so I will match those up for future updates but that's why the colors are a little bit different but you can really notice the vibrancy difference on both of these anyway and the oled's HDR version on Diablo 4 is just absolutely phenomenal I've put some screenshots on socials previously if you want to check those out directly for hdr on versus off so looking at performance there's two main modes that I'll concentrate on for both of these and the first is medium with no FSR enabled and this is on the LCD steam deck and you'll see that this out in the world you'll still get around 60 frames per second and it will look beautifully clear now you're not going to notice a huge amount of difference between the frames per second on both of these configurations but you will notice uh quite a lot on the graphics quality at least I do anyway and medium with no FSR is actually my third way of playing although some of the effects do look absolutely fantastic on high I just like the clarity of no FSR so you'll see as I come over to MD FSR 2 on quality mode I can bump this up to the high settings and it does look absolutely phenomenal but that FSR 2 even on the quality mode does still bring in a bit of that blur and it depends on how much it bothers you to whether you want to have this on or not now both of these configurations will not get 60 frames per second solid but that's not my aim here because Diablo 4 doesn't really need 60 frames per second solid you just want a nice stable goodlooking experience so both of these will get you that but it depends on which is kind of your preferred now if you have the medium with FSR 2 quality it does get you to that 60 fres per second 95% at the time but again it just looks even more blurry with the medium settings so FSR 2 quality on high settings is definitely a fantastic way to play but you will still drop down into the 40s especially in kashad which is one of the big towns and that generally happens in quite a lot of the big towns and some of the big dungeons as well same kind of thing with the medium with no fsar in kashad and other towns you get a little bit better frames per second but it also gives you slightly less on the wattage well actually they both kind of bounce between 20 and 25 depending on how much stuff's going on on the screen so it really is a preference my personal preference is medium with no FSR but also make sure you turn Distortion off and cap your frames per second in game to 60 and when it comes to the OLED versus the LCD obviously the OLED is much smoother and especially with that 90 HZ screen but you'll notice massive difference on the wattage and the battery life for both of these you see that the battery life isn't much worse on the OLED at 42% as the LCD was at 80% but quite different Graphics going on in the game is why the frames of second difference is there but the wattage is still lower on the OLED with more stuff going on pretty similar setup with the Leed looking at the FSR 2 quality and medium with no FSR at all so we're going to start with the high FSR 2 quality and just a couple of other notes on here I did drop the Clutter quality down to high from highest on this preset and also making sure Distortion is off on all of the settings as that also makes quite a difference we'll see that even on high quality with the FSR 2 and a lot more stuff going on on the outside world we will be still around the 50 to 60 frames per second again it looks absolutely phenomenal and we're only sitting around 20 WS so you're going to get a good 2 to 3 hours battery but if we put the FSR 2 quality against the medium no FSR this is where you'll notice that blurriness a little bit more don't notice it so much when you get used to playing FSR 2 on quality but when you do switch to no FSR on medium you do quite notice it when you go back as I said the frames per second isn't much difference with these two modes and this is why I kind of bounc between the two quite often don't always notice a huge amount of difference for that high quality with the extra effects but you do need thatu quality or balance mode to keep that frames per second up which then brings in the blurriness and that's where it kind of almost becomes counterintuitive to having those higher graphic settings same with the medium settings if you do bring in that FSR it does counter act it and also making sure that the sharpen image is only down around 50 on that FSR 2 quality by the way then as we switch back over to the medium settings and no FSR you'll see that we get that clearness we get around the same frames per second if not a little bit better and again around that 21 watt range but I do just find that the medium quality with no FSR is just a much nicer experience so that is my recommended settings for both the LCD and the OLED and you'll see that the OLED will get around 2 to three frames per second better in a lot of the cases but you'll get a good half an hour to an hour more battery same when we come back into kavash Shad frames per second will bounce between that 40 and 50 Mark so we didn't get a huge difference between the two models but the HDR with the OLED screen does look absolutely phenomenal on Diablo 4 let us know in the comments below what games you've been playing and whether you're diving into Diablo 4 on the steam version your progress does carry but is it really worth spending another 60 on I'll leave that up to you thanks for watching and see you in the next one
