[Music] I'm sure you heard about all the tornadoes that went through Iowa yesterday supposedly there was about 23 of them thank you for joining me I'm Mary with Mary gy news and welcome to watching my videos sending prayers to all those that were impacted by yesterday's storm a powerful tornado ripped through a small Iowa town on Tuesday killing multiple people and leaving at least a dozen injured authorities said Central Iowa was reeling this morning Wednesday after what police described as a devastating tornado laid waste to a rural community and killed an unknown number of people the town has a population of about 2,000 people and is 40 miles Southwest of De Moes Iowa Sergeant Alex dinkla from the town of Greenfield at a news conference confirmed that at least 12 people were being treated at hospitals although the town's aldar County me Memorial Hospital was also damaged forcing purse responders to take victims to facilities elsewhere after devastating Greenfield a town like I said of 2,000 people choose the storm moved Eastward to plummet parts of Illinois and Wisconsin knocking out power to T of thousands of customers in two states here's the power outage map uh currently in Texas there are 13, 653 people without power um in Arkansas 13,591 Ohio 12,000 Wisconsin still has 6 ,000 out and Illinois has 6, 922 that is a lot better than what it was this morning California they have 20, 415 people currently without power here we have the state of Iowa and currently in the county of Adams um there is 577 people without power in Montgomery 437 Taylor County 256 47 there 1,00 um 46 606 and then we'll bring it up let's see uh Mitchell 156 and it goes down let's see Jackson County 196 sending prayers to you guys Wisconsin uh Lincoln County um [Music] 1,8 um 22422 2000 okay I just did that one all right um 462 Lafayette uh 218 the National Weather Service said giant hail and heavy rains in several States they received 23 tornado reports that was Tuesday most in Iowa and one each in Wisconsin and Minnesota the severe weather is expected to move away from the Midwest and towards the Southern Plains and the Mississippi Valley on Wednesday that is according to the National Weather Service they are warning people of large hail damaging winds and tornadoes likely across Arkansas Louisiana and Texas yesterday in Denver k USA reported that they had hail um at times as large as Baseballs in Omaha Nebraska cars were Swept Away by raging flood waters caused by between 4 and 8 in of rain uh leaving some people stranded a tornado also took down several 250 ft or 76 M wind turbines in southwest Iowa some of the turbines caught fire sending plumes of smoke into the air wind farms are built to withstand tornadoes hurricanes and other um powerful winds though the typical wind turbine is 2 to 3 m in power I think that's right so most turbines cost in the neighborhood between $2 and $4 million operation and maintenance runs an additional 42,000 to $48,000 per year cost of turbines can vary in range due to the factors including size wi conditions blade length and of course average hour energy consumption a typical wind turbine is generally uh capable of powering 1,000 to 2,000 homes in one year one megawatt of energy production is capable to power about 1,000 homes and you know and there is some offshore wind tur turbines um they have the 2 to 3 megawatt capacity also so it is a great um loss for these turbines that were damaged from this tornado they still haven't updated how many people were killed but they do have that one person a woman in Adams County was listed as a storm related Fatality and they're not giving any details about that yeah so devastating for these people sending prayers uh what can I say yeah I I I my heart breaks for you guys most of the town's people there have drawn together to help everybody help each other gather what they can and start going towards the rebuilding and recovering yeah they've already started to do the cleanup yeah so what are your thoughts I hope you don't have anybody there but it is a population of about 2,000 people yeah very devastating thank you for watching please like share and subscribe and I'll talk to you later God bless youall bye [Music]
