#DesignGenius Episode 6 Season Finale | And the winner is..

last week on design genius hi Donna Sandro and Bianca went head-to-head to create design from materials found in a kitchen in the end Zandro boiled over and couldn't find his vision it's all on the line and things are about to get interesting in this final episode of design genius a true designer sees nothing the possibility they see potential and all that surrounds them success is in the vision but it's not always smooth sailing each episode designers will be plunged into the unknown will they survive three designers three challenges one overall look inspired by the object of my choice two will be safe and one will be eliminated with the winner of the series taking home $25,000 come on it's breaking youth stress I give up this this is I genius today's a very important day and winning the $25,000 would be a great gift of appreciation I am a design genius I'm ready to go and I'm looking forward to it I want to prove that you don't need experience and going through something like this if you want something you just have to go and get it this is it winner takes all the winner will be the design genius Ivana you're going down welcome to the finale of design genius international wouldn't be that without more surprises this week you'll have a fourth opponent let's welcome to the show Anya I knew welcome back I had expected Anya to come back instead of Lalit so it was actually surprised and poet's walk onto the stage Final Four you know the game three challenges one overall look inspired by objects of my choice first you'll be creating an accessory then you'll be creating an undergarment and lastly you'll be creating wardrobe apparel of your choice after each challenge there will be an elimination until there are only two the two will go head-to-head and compete for the title of design genius and the $25,000 cash prize this time I really want to show that my concepts are well researched and it's not over the top I'm really gonna control it so it's majorly the creator part which I'm definitely gonna show on the corporation really excited about going into the finale African savannah especially we will eat there it's gonna be great fun for today's challenges you'll be using materials found in a junkyard for your first challenge you'll be creating an accessory using old bicycles oh what a nightmare this is doors challenge the worst materials ever given to us I come from the bike country so I'm really excited about this material your inspiration for this challenge bamboo and accessory with bicycle parts with the inspiration of bamboo there's gonna be really challenging I'm confused I don't even know what to do with it I can't relate bamboo with bicycle one of you will be eliminated after this round you'll have one hour starting now our both pulling the same thing the bicycle of spectra quite intelligently although would need us to be done to lift one after the other but she starts cropping the one below and the one on the top Oh Bianca don't lift pause just lift away I'm letting this one and this one Navarro was telling me not to pull but I know she was telling me that so she could get to the one I really wanted coming up on design crazy hyung get it out trying to cut those wires and the cutters are just not sharp enough I can't go through them I've Drive one vehicle after the other and everyone just cuts through after a few minutes I just had to skip the idea I was flashing between and it's not coming out I literally have to cut that chain from a metal cutter and it took a lot of time I see that Ivana was already working on hers with the same material the rubber guard so what I did was I immediately went to my mannequin and just put it on there so you know it dibs on the idea yeah I want to melt something yeah it's so fun how how do you use it here okay I am scared he's gonna bring out this set I started the blue dots a humongous flames come out of it that was scary I have to control it and glue it nicely designers this challenge is half way over you now have 30 minutes I'm going for a bracelet but it doesn't really work so I decide on a chain and I give it an extra hand by adding a little pocket in there so it's useful as well as pretty once I had the idea that I'm going to make that charm bracelet it was just a matter of figuring out how to put it together as fast as possible designers you have two minutes left and it's hasta luego for one of you the first hour is almost over the challenge is almost over and I've got just about enough time to make another pouch I worked very carefully this time so that I don't have to finish a band but there were few things left and I I was trying to finish the entire things in last two minutes one minute laughs I look around and I'm so scared I see that they've used at least two parts of the bicycle and so with panicking I just took their reflectors and smashed it five four three two one time is up this is where one of you goes home let's see what you created regardless of my personal prejudice I think Ivana's bracelet was the worst piece in the challenge because a bracelet usually is oval or at least round shaped I really loved my price that I thought it was cool and funky is something I would wear may not be everybody else's to taste but it's definitely something I would wear I have a feeling I'm going home this time if I went today the Spanish are gonna change my life designers for your first challenge you are asked to create an accessory with old bicycles your inspiration was the bamboo let's see what you created Avada talk to me about your creation and how you use the materials and inspiration I created a lucky charm inspired by bamboo the bamboo is used in China for thanks Sheree for good luck and I used the adjustment also from the petals and as an additional adjustment here and the three stalks of happiness wealth and longevity my favorite part of this piece was the fact that you use a spring to create a clasp I also love how you use the band to make it adjustable to anyone's arm size I could definitely see the inspiration in it loved your Fung Shui reference however when we put it on the model it wasn't really that wearable it hurt her arm Anya talk to me about your creation and how you use the materials and inspiration so I wanted to go for a break bracelet and I did the chain that one didn't really work so I chose to go for a necklace I wanted to make it a bit more give it an extra element extra level so I made it in a little purse where you can put your iPod in your phone or whatever you need to take with and then I chose for the colors of a panda because bamboo made me think panda in the bamboo Anya I love the fact that you use the bicycle chain for this and the fact that you even made a little pouch to put in an iPad or a phone or even change I thought was really brilliant I think you created a beautiful necklace but it's too long lolly talk to me about your creation and how you use the materials and incorporated the inspiration my first inspiration comes from the the colors of the bamboos so there was a small there were so many small bamboos which are there with the orange and red color inside so I have taken the inspiration from that and I have made a boo which is in the same color and the defect of bamboo I have used a lot of metal here so to give a question on the head so I have used the cushion here that'll be comfortable on the head what I loved about this peacefully is the fact that you took a risk you made a Couture head wear creation and I could definitely see the bamboo in the bow that was my favorite part of this whole piece and I love the fact that you used so many materials you were really innovative and creative in that sense also when we put this on the model it wasn't practical or wearable there was no stability and it was falling off her head Bianca talked to me about your creation and how you use the materials and inspiration I made a necklace which P put on your garment on top of your garment it would have the illusion of a collar so this is melted also to show a ripple effect so it has the feeling of bamboo with water trickling so this would be like the droplets Bianca I really liked the shape in the silhouette of this it reminds me of almost an Egyptian necklace I felt like you could have used the bike chain rather than a regular chain and I would love to see more the inspiration I'm sorry your bamboo story I'm just not seeing it designers I just want to say how proud I am of all of you watching you grow in this competition has really been such a pleasure and you should all really be proud of yourselves for making it here to the finale today and this was a really tough elimination but as you know this is where I have to send one of you home Lily I'm sorry today your designs were not genius I'm extremely shocked I didn't know that that was gonna happen they leap it shouldn't have been you and then there were three and soon there will be two so let's get in to the next challenge I'm really not happy with that decision and I'm really surprised right now I just don't agree with the judging sorry in terms of Lalit Spitz I had to agree with India's decision the leads going on I'm getting ready for the second challenge designers for your second challenge you'll be creating an undergarment the materials you'll be using discarded chairs furniture so many fabrics and I can see all the colors I needed and then I see this bamboo chair which looks like bamboo I just saw it spot-on you'll have two hours for this challenge starting now the chairs are dusty and dirty and just disgusting to work with but it's fabric so it's doable take a mask I know in da shoe has a hard time seeing the inspiration in my work so I wanted to take the chair with you know the obvious choice for bamboo but it was in front of the Ivana after go to plan B there is no plan B I saw this bamboo chairs and I felt like it was put there just for me so many inspiration came to make a bamboo push-up bra since the material given was most suitable the fabric I got off the chair has rope sewn into it so I'm trying to like get it out and takes loads and loads of time and it's plastic wire so it hurts it doesn't come loose I'm really kind of annoyed right now coming up on design genius her nipples are gonna pop out of that why don't you just focus on your creation cat fight cat fight Ivana what do you think of her creation I don't like it hey Anya what do you think of this it looks cheap so do you guys really have drama going on Lily your designs were not genius I'm extremely shocked and then there were three and soon there will be two I wanted to make an undergarment with an Eastern vibe because of the bamboo so I haven't really made a bra before so I decided to just drape it on and it ended looking like a kimono red is the color of good luck in China and mixing the bamboo and red color made sense I didn't really have a nice flat piece to work with but I think I managed to solve that challenge well designers you have one hour left remember to keep it cohesive and use those materials I've added what do you think of her creation I don't like it it's not very flattering okay wow that's beautiful hey Anya what do you think of this it looks cheap you'd have to have really really tiny boobs not to pop out of that one hence it's a push-up bra got fight cat fight cat fight two minutes until someone goes home one minute left designers time is up put your creations on your mannequin and let's see what you made I think my piece will get an extra touch when the model tries it off I was pleased with what I've done and I hope that in - wobbles like we like it as much as I could I wouldn't say onion and varnish garments are better than mine it's just that they finished designers for your second challenge you are asked to create an undergarment using old chairs let's see what you made Ivana talk to me about your creation I created a pram and it took the bamboo out of a mash chair created a caps and I continued my inspiration from the bamboo is a good luck symbol in Feng shooey so red the color red is also good luck the thing Cherie then I created the back and which are also took inspiration from the Seri bamboo Harvester Ivana I really love your many levels of inspiration here I love the color I love the bamboo mesh I could definitely see your inspiration here and your use of materials so well done with that I would have liked to see adjustable straps I think that would have fit the bottle better Anya talk to me about your piece bamboo inspired me to make a corset but this is a boneless corset I was lucky enough to find a fabric which looks bamboo inspired I turned the fabric inside out to have the green instead of the white and I finished off with strings I actually found inside the chair to close the garment and little bamboo Leafs again Anya great use of materials I also love the fact that I can see the inspiration with your color choices to me though your Chrisette looks like a couch Bianca talk to me about your piece I made a very different kind of bra I was inspired by a kimono because when you think about bamboo it's very Asian and now the is one boobs supposed to be out there I decided in a way that it would be very leaf like so that's why the cutter lit this way and in the back you have this as well fabric is from the chair as well as the Garter Bianca I love your choice of fabric from the couch the mesh was really really cool I love the one-shoulder back super sexy the construction on this piece you can tell you ran out of time it's it's not finished it's not constructed properly at all Ivana who should go home I for peace both equally I know that Bianca has it's only a student she doesn't have the experience perhaps Anya's a little bit more experienced but then I really don't like her taste of style so Anya onions should go home Bianca has a little bit more of an edge Anya so do you think she'd go home I'm really curious to see what Bianca could do more so I think Ivana should go home Bianca who should go home I think it's a Ivana I'm sorry but I kind of have difficult time with you sometimes so you think Ivana should go home Bianca I disagree today your designs were not genius it's okay congratulations Ivana and Anja both of you will be competing for the title of design genius in the $25,000 cash prize let's get started being on design genius I can say that I gained confidence in it as a designer and I really learned a lot plus Bianca she's she's only learning still it is mesfet must be so tough for her Ivana Anja this is your final challenge being a design genius is all about your ability to communicate your vision and delegate responsibility in order to create your most elaborate designs you're gonna need a little help and you'll have to work well with your assistant it doesn't matter who my assistant is actually honestly I'd prefer not to have any I'm quite skilled in delegating and getting work done I have plenty of experience in that please step forward and select a can of spray paint assistants please step forward and greet your partner Marta is gonna be my assistant so I'm happy to work with Marta she's she's a great girl so I found out that eva is going to be my assistant and I was really really pleased to see her for your final challenge of the series you'll be creating wardrobe apparel using umbrellas I was really happy to be head on barela's there was fabric it was moving it was something I could really work well with the designer that makes the unimaginable fashionable will be our design genius you'll have four hours for this challenge starting now I'm grabbing all the black umbrellas I can I want as many as I can get it was one slack umbrella next to me and since she was holding on to it I just grabbed on to it as well are you really gonna fight it with me I never needed that umbrella I just did it really true just tea sir coming up on design genius we have a really complicated dress to make so time is really of importance take another one communication barrier just ripped I'm blanking my mind I knew I knew I wouldn't be nervous good as I was someone is going home and someone will be a winner assistance greets your partner Marta's gonna be my assistant these is going to be my assistant you'll be creating wardrobe apparel using um barela's you'll have four hours for this challenge starting now much as you can good there so Marta is my assistant and we have this much this communication barrier I hate giving control away you get help great but still help is delegating and that makes you lose time I am these is a bit more closer yeah yes I knew Anya would be no as good as I was in delegating and coordinating yeah ever understood it immediately there was no need for me to explain too much yeah whatever you think is best yeah hence we worked so well together you want me to much then the nice one as well yeah well the game is halfway over and someone is going home and someone will be a winner how much time is left there's a lot on the line here and I cannot think about that because otherwise I can't keep focused so I'm liking my mind I thought of a strategy which I think could work easily to like apply the foliage on the on the skirt so we have a really complicated dress to make and we have to experiment with a few things so time is really of importance I'm not really concerned with Anya is doing Evan are beyond the zone two minutes last these final seconds can make or break your design the umbrellas we were using we're old umbrellas and there were lots of tears in it just ripped and I need another stitch in the first thing just rip so I had to fix it hand stitched it is ready and it was very little time Merida is having trouble threading the bobbin it's too well-oiled which I understand because it's not that easy they took another I kind of had to finish something first and then help her please uh-huh and you want an empty one take another one yeah I'm not gonna miss that machine I hate that machine one minute left these last seconds are so crucial five four three two one time is up I like my dress better than hers so I hope I can be devout ass today my intention was to create a dress where industrial finds nothing wrong with this but it's just amazing she's a master technically but she's got lack of taste ivana Anya for your final challenge you were asked to create wardrobe apparel using umbrellas it's my pleasure to welcome our guest judges meet Loreen Oh a fashion forecaster and blogger for break my style calm I'd also like to welcome Cebu Briere Ivana talked to us about your creation how you use the materials to create your cohesive look I created a red crab a tres and I incorporated my futuristic bamboo which is the neckline of that dress just made of the stalks of the umbrella and that symbolizes bumble of the future in order to keep it cohesive I created that opened back so the bra which I've created in the previous challenge is visible I really appreciate the fact that you used so much of the material I love the silhouette of this dress I think it's really feminine and sexy I like your dress very much I think it's modern and it's trendy my personal aesthetic is to say that you know less is better and I just think you're losing me a little bit in this dress thing that bothers me most about this piece is I really find the neckline distracting my only concern is it looked better on the mannequin than it did on the model Anya talk to us about your creation to create your cohesive looked I chose to use bamboo as in a bamboo bush as inspiration I repeated the leaf pattern from my previous two challenges the only thing which is fabric is basically the carrier I really love your usage of the materials it was very cohesive with your necklace and this piece is very dramatic I really like the gray white and that combination just blew me away well to me Ana you're bringing theatricality into modernity and that requires a lot of historical references and a lot of talent from a young design like you what I don't like about this piece is the way that you use class to close it I would have liked to see an invisible zipper Ivana Anya this has been a very tough decision both of you should be really proud of yourselves for making it this far Ivana you've been so consistent your constructions been impeccable and you've really been a standout in this competition Anya your designs and ideas are fresh and innovative and I think you have something special one of you will be the design genius and walk away with $25,000 anja today your designs we're genius congratulations you are our design genius I still don't believe it I did my best to make something which is well and beautiful and I worked really hard on it and Marta helped me and pre-dessert win my name is Anya and I'm the design
