a true designer sees nothing the possibility they see potential in all that surrounds them success is in the vision but it's not always smooth sailing each episode designers will be plunged into the unknown will they survive three designers three challenges one overall look inspired by the object of my choice two will be safe and one will be eliminated with the winner of this series taking home $25,000 oh are you do grief I'm scared come on is it breaking you stress I give up this is design genius hi I'm Anya parish rich and I'm from Antwerp Belgium I like to get inspired by clean architectural I'm I'm gonna win because I'm really good at what I do my name is Martha I'm from Spain and very funny I'm since policemen everywhere I love makeup my name is Bella Tenga and I'm from New Delhi India I'm quite a fun-loving guy my skills are new my techniques on you I never play safe and moustache what are designers I'm adagio and welcome to design genius international TV personality entrepreneur fashion designer and celebrity stylist in - EO is one of the youngest designers ever to show at New York Miami and Los Angeles Fashion Week you're here because of your design talents but can your talents adapt to my challenges these challenges are not about the individual pieces but rather the overall vision first you'll be asked to create an accessory then you'll be asked to create an undergarment lastly you'll be creating a wardrobe apparel item of your choice you'll be given different mandatory materials for each challenge but your look must be cohesive I'll be providing you an inspiration for your designs it's about making the unimaginable fashionable and one of you will be crowned design genius and walk away with $25,000 so it's designed or die I'm sure in your world you're used to the finest materials well today we're taking all that away the materials and objects you come across every day life is what you'll be using how you make it fashionable is up to you the materials you'll be using today are objects found in a hospital your first challenge is to create an accessory using a first aid kit your inspiration owl you have one hour for your first challenge time starts now get busy my strategy is very simple to enjoy what I do I can go in because I will hire I study psychology but this is very important from in my life I love passing I have no idea how to bring these two things together first instinct was improvised I'm thinking feathers I'm gonna make wings I'm gonna make a fan in my native Sarajevo like two years ago whether the children show the little prince and we only use the most alkaline dish materials I was really happy when I saw the first aid kit got the kind of material I am playing with since childhood well this is a Bollywood and TV surely gonna help me here because we have time constraint and we also have to do a lots of costumes well this is a and you see that great little net box thing there yeah underneath that out the main challenge is how to put all things together I'm using right now band-aids only I really want to create something just very high-fashion I'm trying to find something to make a frame but I only find this really thin iron wire so I arrive it around a couple of times and it still doesn't work coming up on design genius I'm scared I'm very scared right now so I'm kind of panicking I'm sweating I'm thinking I need to do this right that's definitely not fashionable there's really no excuse for it there's $25,000 at state and the challenges are just getting harder the materials and objects you come across every day life is what you'll be using how you make it fashionable is up to you the main challenge is how to put all things together my strategy is very simple to enjoy about you not yet not yet no I'm nervous but I only think that's a good thing because it makes me want to work maybe this is so in because I kind of perfect sewing in my brand in Spain I have people sewing for me these two are very experienced designers I'm still young with experience and everything these guys have they have an edge over me and historic past so I'm scared I'm very scared right now I want to wrap it in gauze I don't find anything that's strong enough so I need to take another material so I'm kind of panicking I'm sweating I'm thinking I need to do this right okay guys 20 my time and the amount of material that was in first-aid kit the band-aids are something that I just can't get over it looks like a second grade craft project and unfortunately a band-aid fan ain't really fashionable lolly my exes it E is a headgear my silo blocking is like mixing the ancient sensibilities to the Western so I try to fuse both of them together and I try to create patterns out of band-aids I love the fact that you use the q-tips and painted them right you can't even tell that they're q-tips that's what I wanted to see can you turn it around for me now our maxi pads also popular in India as head pieces that's definitely not fashionable and there's really no excuse for it Marta tell me about your creation creation is a clad Maxpedition come from today and the best because I think it's fabric is very natural well I must say I'm very impressed with you out of all the other designers because bags are so sellable I also love the fact that you use the gauze and the way that you used it with the fringe and you spray-painted it was super cool however feel like the band-aids ruined - the clutch designers we're just getting started and it's gonna take a lot more than band-aids to impress me there's $25,000 at state and the challenges are just getting harder if you guys want to be a design genius and win this you're gonna have to step your game up it's not a maxi pad so embarrassed about that fan I just want to burn it set it on fire and do something really nice for the next challenge for your second challenge you creating an undergarment keep in mind the inspiration and that the looks must be cohesive you have two hours to use an IV bag genuine I knew it I need to see complete items something that's gonna hit the catwalk or something that's gonna hit the red carpet this is fashion not arts and crafts your time starts now the more important characteristics are elegance and creativity I'm really really really scared of IVs few years back while I was hospitalized I saw them every day of my life it is quite a difficult task for me to put all this together IV bags nothing to do whatsoever with the freaky now but I'll make it work I'm thinking cut it up and just make sort of quasi out of it ah coming up on design genius use every second wisely I'm trying to create a look but it's not coming up no boy who said I am not confident I don't have time I think I'm gonna start swearing again so it's still the same mess with the sewing machine it just won't work with me there's nothing wrong with the machine there's something wrong with the good I need like this one I think Annie I make a original idea I have a very cool concept right now so I think so I'm gonna win the challenge designers for your second challenge you are asked to create an undergarment using IV bags let's see what you created Anya tell me about your creation I chose for an under dress and try to make a fabric by gluing them together the print made me think of the spotted belly of the owl so it's a slight inspiration that I would like to think it's still there because it was looking a little bit like a potato sack and now it's actually a cute wearable dress one thing I do see it looks like it's coming apart there and that should have probably been sewn but other than that I do appreciate the fit in the silhouette in the shape of the dress I'll be curious to see how you make it cohesive with all the challenges lolly I was very much inspired with the brain of the owl I try to play with the silhouette I make it to look a little sexy I try to use everything possible from the ivy box it is very sexy and I do love what you did with the IV bag you can't even tell it's an IV bag one thing however I'm not so feeling the bottom it looks like a bulky brown diaper I think you would've been better off having just done a bra Martha tell me about your look my creation is a corset I used colors for my expiration I wanted to do more things but I have a problem with in my teens well I think it's really cool where sets are a huge trend right now looks like it could be a little bulky especially with this Ivy thing hanging from it I'm just curious to see how you're gonna put that underneath something well designers you have one final challenge left this is your last chance to impress me and it could be your last chance at $25,000 he was absolutely right about the construction I mean you don't usually make garments with glue guns my scene sees a gram problem ba for a for my migration I do not like Martha's finishing at all designers for your third and final challenge you'll have six hours and I'm gonna hook you up and allow you to polish your first two pieces but you cannot change them the materials you'll be using for your final challenge today are surgical gloves fool okay and remember one of you will be eliminated your time starts now surgical gloves yeah I'm really happy I can think of a number of things which I can do with surgical gloves I can't really really create so many on guard look labs are a garment on their own so you can do loads of them I'm thinking going back to the fetters and making just a massive construction with them I am more confident than oh they're two salads sorry for guessing everybody oh we're gonna die in here keep focus and keep working not lose any freaking minute I just need to pull this one up coming up on design genius I know my game plan I know my strategies what are you making are clowns fashionable in India but are you making fun of me huh unfortunately for one of you someone will be going home I'm sorry but today your look was not genius for your third and final challenge I'm gonna hook you up and allow you to polish your first two pieces but you cannot change gloves and try to paint them what did you do in a lab it's my happy birthday today so these are the best points I know my game plan I know my strategies I just have to play around with the material the gloves are painted I decide on making a skirt 19:20 flapper dress I like the difficult challenge for me and excited because I want to win what are you making I'm just trying to check the color this beautiful dress and then just kept sticking stuff on it one minute three two one you're done time is up I think so I can make it I will make it to the next challenges now it's a stylus Indian style the colors a little like I didn't really get mortals design details too many details designers for your third challenge you are asked to create a wardrobe apparel item using surgical gloves I'm excited to see how you did Anya tell me about your creations I went for a funky sexy night bird I used the gloves to create a skirt which was completely based on the Owls wings I combined everything through the light colors and I gave her a little set of extra gloves the shape of the silhouette was great but I felt like you really played it safe I would like to see you go that extra mile and made this a 4 length piece Lily well I try to keep the same concept I started with the avant-garde and the very sexy look so I try to create a garment in which I can show my accessory and my swimwear together I try to use the final challenge pieces like the hand gloves I was very inspired with the dots and the feathers of owl so I try to copy that and try to create a one card look with the same concept I really love this shape of your dress however it's not finished that's unacceptable I felt like it didn't flow with all those gloves and I also feel like it looks more like a turkey than it does an owl Martha tell me about your look my outfit is a lady style my dress there are a lot of sin for neckline a lot of yep and there I want to put the plastic I thought the choice of black was a great color every girl wants a staple black dress I felt like your look was just too bulky it looked like it added 30 or 40 pounds I don't know why you put a plastic garbage bag on the bottom that totally threw me off as you guys know someone will be going home Anya your look was safe so are you Thank You Lally Marta unfortunately for one of you you'll be going home there's a lot at stake here
