Dental Work In Mexico - Don’t Hide Drugs When Crossing The Border

[Music] i'm shawna and this is brian welcome to our channel life uninterrupted in 2018 we sold our home auctioned off most of our belongings and bought a motorhome which we affectionately referred to as freda we travel full time with our two french bulldogs lucy and ricky join us on our adventures by subscribing and hitting the bell icon so that you're notified when our videos release each week last day in quartzite we had to make it to beer bellies because we haven't been here yet so it's not very crowded today perfect right it's uh busier though and yeah because we're a little surprised at that so yeah that's true that has been busy the last couple of weeks oh my god for sure we're having a cold one barbie pop as a barley car some other youtube unnamed youtuber calls them [Music] anyhow this is it for us last day in courtside [Music] [Music] oh today we're headed to yuma uh after having been here on quartzite for about a month kind of looking forward to a little electricity and some more running water but the trip from quartzite here where we're located is about an hour and a half total so no big deal yeah smooth sailing all the way down 95 nice and flat so no hills to encounter nothing and today we're dales today happens to be super bowl sunday so we're trying to get an earlier start so we can get into our space they told us we could check in early and maybe get some pot roast going in the instant pot and just sit back and relax and enjoy the day all right one final check make sure everything is secured looks like it is pups are secure hi pups you guys are secured yeah all right as we were coming back into camp yesterday we stopped by just to say hello to our neighbors who have been here for about a week and found out that there's about three youtubers here we'll put their information down in the description it's a a bunch of ladies that are all i don't know if they're traveling together but it seems like they show up in each other's videos quite a bit yeah they must all be sleeping you've got deborah dickinson shalom on the roam and c-dubs journey all camping together well this is the end of the road as you can see for us courtside is to the left eumus to the right and we're going to take the path to the right continue on us95 i've already put the blinds to good use check it out that's so nice brian used to bake on that side of the coach and now he doesn't have to boy much better i could pull it all the way down if i needed to but i don't want to yay it was a good investment a little better [Music] i'm a traveling spirit i've seen many shows from the west pacific to the island of kenya they treat me like a sun anywhere i go and even though no one can tell i still feel that i'm alone i'm alone i'm leave alone stranded i know how to handle it on our way to yuma here we just passed a sign that's in mexico 44 miles so if you're wondering why a lot of full-timers and part-timers come to yuma one of the big draws is that it's about 20 miles from the mexican border and the mexican border is called los alcadonis and they have a ton of dentists optometrists probably some cosmetic surgeons um i would imagine maybe even like uh family practice type doctors pharmacies restaurants and things like that right across the border so a lot of folks come to yuma there are about four or five different thousand trails parks that you can stay in and then take the 20-minute drive over to algodones get your dental work done and then hop back over it's a very easy process brian and i have done it i don't know a handful of times very easy we feel very safe doing it right now they have a restriction that you have to be back across the border to the american side or the u.s side by two o'clock in the afternoon which is kind of weird because a lot of people like to go down there and just have an authentic mexican lunch margaritas but it sounds like we have to kind of keep it moving so we are planning to do that that's the reason that we're headed to yuma for a couple of weeks so that we can go down and get our dental work done we don't have dental insurance and the reason that we didn't is because we knew of this resource and this was our plan all along to at least once a year stop by and get a dental exam so we're going to take you along when we cross the border the algodones [Music] at the roundabout take the second exit to south therapy road [Music] i have learned that no one else can carry this load it's a train where i'm the only passenger on board oh there is beauty to enjoy on this road but even so i still feel that i'm alone [Music] what would you like them to do about it [Music] family [Music] morning early morning for us it's only like eight that's early for bryan and shawna anyhow we're up early because we're headed into algae los algodones mexico today to get some dental work done i'm looking for some some prescription sunglasses maybe have a taco and a margarita anything else we're doing today [Music] no does that cover it all right so we'll see what the border crossing is like here in arizona we went across the border if you recall in texas over to progreso nuevo that was easy peasy we'll see how it goes here our gps right now says it's going to take us about 22 minutes to get to the border once we get to the parking area that's where you actually park unless you want to drive your car across we aren't doing that we're going to walk across that's easier um we are to call the dentist office and they'll come and pick us up and walk us to the clinic which is really nice [Music] take me back to mexico that can't consent would turn somebody right on [Music] how do you feel for one more kiss loving you was such a bliss started up [Music] the dentist office told us once we get here to the parking lot to give them a call and then they would escort us back to the office which is only about about a block from the border i believe you know it's kind of cute he wanted to know what we're wearing and he shared what he's wearing his name is renee and he speaks very good english so forgot this oh we would have never found you that's what clueless in the greens come down here and people sometimes tell me where all we have right here where we came like oh that's about almost the same amount of people we used to get before probably that was about eight nine thousand people every day coming to the border wow it's actually about forty three hundred people in populations okay let's get over a thousand minutes plus the staff the get pharmacies [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] lost so renee squirted us down here with some antibacterial and some hand gel and yes i take your temperature but you know how cool it is outside right here okay hello look at that and then the x-rays are instant that is so cool shawna's having a little extra work done today she's going to have a crown yes unexpected but needed probably [Music] okay look so the dentist and optometrist are done for today we have to come back on monday and now we're looking for a liquor store to get some mixer yeah we're gonna make uh cocktail vendiros for our new friends they've never had them so if you watched our south padre island videos you'll know that we made the cocktail bambitos and we had one our first one in nuevo progreso mexico so it looks like there's a liquor store slash pharmaceutical over here yeah and then we're also gonna look for some lunch like we said many times before whenever we come to mexico people are great here so friendly they they want you to be here because obviously we're part of their livelihood and uh everyone's been super super friendly and you know super friendly very helpful as you can just see yeah and they appreciate they appreciate us being here yeah at least i think they do i think so yes and i'm wearing my mask i was gonna take it off but my mouth is numb you don't need to see that all right let's go find lunch that's coconut that's milk oh maybe it's um show me what those are okay this is this is really cute we're in the store trying to find um this vampiro mix and we found what looks like cooked marshmallows coconut milk uh roasted coconut milk ooh and there's a coconut log it looks like a cigar interesting coconuts i love these so this is the tweeted us the sanchez this is the the mixer and then just with we use silver tequila oh this is really like it tastes better yeah it is sangrita okay we call it little shot of lime we need fresca [Music] do [Music] let's talk about our dental visit what'd you think um so a little different down here i think normally when you go to a dentist in the states when they do a cleaning they use the manual tools then if they need to they'll use the the water pick i think it's what it's called i don't prefer that water pick thing they use the the whole thing on my entire mouth and a couple times sent me through the roof maybe just because i have a sensitive a couple sensitive teeth really i didn't know that um so yeah he used that water pick tool um ultra snake is probably ultrasonic i don't know i think in my entire mouth anyway did a good job pretty quick and very nice very they were very comforting they wanted me you know they wanted to make sure that you're doing okay so you would stop and check everything every once in a while so you're doing okay and very clean that was the other thing too very clean yeah they have a lot of good protocols in place disinfection protocols even when you walk in they disinfect you and hand sanitizer and all that sort of thing yeah so i ended up needing a crown and a filling and you got off scot-free she's cleaning forty dollars she's got nice teeth i don't have such nice teeth well so here get this exam cleaning and x-rays 40 bucks and we're not talking about some old ancient x-ray technology this is it was cool wasn't it yeah cutting edge stuff they were using pretty cool oh you know i just noticed my mouth is still numb on this side all right well i'll compensate i'm kidding now we uh we stopped by a oh so i got a crown hold on i was going to go back i was going to talk about my dental work so i got a crown and they were debating whether i was going to need a determined i didn't and they did it immediately and we only had appointments for an exam and cleaning but they were able to do the crown immediately which was really nice so we're good they got us in quickly and then i get the i get the actual crown i have a temporary right now but i get the actual one on monday so we will be coming back they could have done it today but they're just concerned because the border closes at two and wanted to make sure we got across in time we're not talking about a porcelain crown we're talking what is the zirconium no you can you can smash this thing with a hammer unbelievable how strong it is yeah so that's that's pretty good so that's pretty cool i got the upgraded crown but um yeah all in i think it came to about 400. 400 and 480 so for the crown two planets two exams and two x-rays right right so not too shabby and then we went over to we got photobombed here then we went over to um the optometry clinic and that was actually a little more pricey than i expected in fact i think we could have got the same glasses back in the us smattered in 60 i think for well for lenses frames and polarized lenses yeah and i got a name brand frame i don't remember what it was uh vogue oh that's right okay oh i wanted to get because i wear these all the time i wanted to get prescription sunglasses that makes such sense for me so now i can't and neither can you get on shawna about wearing her sunglasses all the time because she's going to need to now because they're prescription sunglasses that's right and they can have those done in two hours but since we're coming back on monday and again the border closes to two we want to have lunch we decided that we'll just pick them up on monday so no extra charge for the two-hour service yeah that's pretty cool so now we are here at the uh restaurant tons of vendors as you can see we got photobomb just a second ago but just tons of vendors trying to hock their wares understandably sure uh i'm guessing when we talked to the dentist i think they said their traffic's down about about 60 percent what it typically is so a lot fewer people here so right right you know they got to do what they got to do to get business yeah yeah we're happy to be here and again we feel very safe feels very clean oh when we walked into the restaurant again they squirted with the sanitizer temperature that's right and we had to wash our hands we walked into the pharmacy slash liquor store they did the same thing temperature protocol hand sanitizer and spray it down with a disinfectant i mean who knows what that stuff really is but another vendor photobomb uh but anyways any blankets that's the protocol they have to go by here in los angeles everyone's safe and keep the border open and keep visitors coming and that's what we want exactly small prices we ordered lunch we've got our cerveza basically you know i ordered a cocktail of empiro which we'll show you in another video what those are or if you've watched our nuevo progreso video you know what those are looks like our food is here so all right that looks good wow yes [Music] what's your name we picked the wrong day didn't we apparently we picked the wrong day because our friends were just down here on a thursday and said that they waited five minutes holy simoleons it's all the way down there wow [Music] a little bit of a line getting back across the border our friends were just here last week and said they waited five minutes all right we'll see how long it takes probably i don't know 20 minutes so far we've been in line uh 20-30 minutes yeah and then it wouldn't be on our youtube channel yeah better watch it and then it um broke off into two different lanes i told brian no matter which lane we pick i guarantee you it's going to be the slow lane so let's see usually the case yeah most of the moving uh nice steady pace nobody freaking out nobody uh one woman kind of freaked out but i think we've been drinking a little too much yeah too many surveys all right well it was a successful trip across the border no problems took us about 45 minutes um they asked us what we were bringing back and asked if we had any medications which we happen to have this time she wanted to see inside my bag and that was it lasted about a minute a little bit of the story we were talking to a couple yesterday who did the same thing she got some medications tried to conceal them and got caught it was a 5 000 fine if she elected to not pay right then and there it was ten percent of that so 500 bucks so she opted to pay the 500 bucks and she was on her way yeah where she left her medications behind as well obviously they were a controlled substance of some kind it's like yeah i think she said it was a 20 bottle of medication costs for 500 so yeah so don't do that don't do that always disclose what you have and never lie you never know when they might get you [Applause] so otherwise it was an easy peasy trip across the border and now we're heading back to yuma which is about a 20 mile drive shouldn't take that long we do have to come back on monday nice warm sunny day today though yeah which is usually the case in arizona winter in arizona [Music]
