[Music] hi everybody everybody i'm back everybody genie young is back and i'm back with yet another amazing recipe i am so excited today because today at the young's house gina young is going to share with you all how easy it is to make delicious beef stew this recipe is so easy it doesn't require a lot of ingredients and you know you make a gina young style it's gonna be so tasty y'all never had my beef stew before you better make yourself here are the lovely ingredients you will need right here i have some beef now this is called stewed beef it's already chopped up i have washed this with lime juice salt and water and then i've pat it dry with the paper towel you're going to need some butternut squash now you can use fresh if you like today i'm using frozen you will need a can of corn or one frozen bag of corn you're going to need some veggies right here we have some beautiful carrots we have some sweet peas and also over this way we have two and a half stalks of celery one large vitalia onion a beautiful green bell pepper and right here we have some tomato paste right here in this bowl i have three large potatoes chopped up and it's soaking in cold water you will need some chopped up tomatoes you're going to need a can of crushed tomatoes and right here this is better than boy on beef flavored base that's absolutely amazing you're gonna need some beef broth and right in this cup is red wine okay now you're gonna need some spices so we can spice everything up here's what you'll need over this way you will need some red pepper flakes you're going to need onion and garlic powder and right here i have some garlic puree black pepper and salt make sure your hands are impeccably clean let's get started with this really easy recipe gina young style okay everyone so the next thing that you want to do is let's go ahead and heat up a pan with some oil in our pan let me show you how much oil i have in my pan right here i have just some vegetable oil just enough to coat the bottom of the pan and we want to create a nice beautiful golden brown crust onto the beef so let's get this beef into our pan just like so okay and then what we're going to do is we're going to take this time to season our beef okay and then also you're going to need um two bay leaves bay leaves is gonna really give you an amazing flavor we're gonna go in with some nice onion powder don't you dare be afraid to season okay if you're afraid to season your food will be flavorless that's garlic and right here we're going to go in with some nice black pepper just like so gorgeous and then we're going to put some sea salt in in this manner now once we start to create a nice beautiful golden brown serum to this beef i'll come back and i'll show you what to do next okay everyone so while our ground while our beef browns up i want to talk about something really quickly so this right here this is a beef stew seasoning packet and it's pretty much out of sight anytime i make beef stew or sometimes you don't have to use it but it's highly suggested if you like flavor get you one of these and you don't have to get this name brand they are so delicious they are packed with flavor and you know we're using the salt the pepper the garlic powder the red pepper flakes the red wine but using this as an addition will give you great flavor when i come back our beef will be nice beautiful and golden brown and i'll show you what we'll do next okay everyone so i want you all to take a look at our beef now some of the beef this beef is not fully cooked we just wanted to get a nice serum to it and you will also see that some it you know still has a little rare to it don't freak out about that and the reason why is because this beef is going to get reiterated back into the pot and we're going to cook it you know for maybe an hour and a half okay so now now it's time for the veggies what you want to do is you want to start off with those veggies that are nice and hearty so now if you were using the butternut squash fresh you would put the butternut squash in first with the potatoes because we know that butternut squash and potatoes at least take a half an hour to get nice and soft so right here i've switched pots because i'm going to need a nice size pot to handle all of this beef stew so we have some oil we have our celery our onions and our bell peppers get it right into your pan just like so [Music] and then we're going to put our potatoes in if your butternut squash like i said if it's fresh put that in but we're going to i'll tell you the perfect time to put your butternut squash in if you're using frozen let's give this a nice stir and when i come back i'll show you what we'll do next okay everyone so i let the potatoes the onions the celery and the bell pepper cook for around about eight to ten minutes and what you're going to see when you look in this pan is that the onions have started to get nice and translucent and that's what i'm looking for so now here's what we're going to do let's go ahead and put your corn in you can put your corn in now because this corn will not get mushy all right and then there's another ingredient i want to talk about really quickly i already told you about the bay leaves now's that time you can put the bay leaf in but you want to make sure you know when you get ready to serve it you take those bay leaves out because we don't want your loved ones to consume the bay leaf okay so now this is flour we're going to coat the veggies with flour and the reason for coating the veggies with flour is it's going to give your sauce an amazing thickness to it that is just amazing it's going to make it like gravy consistency how much do i put in well it there's not a certain amount you just want to really coat these veggies and i'm actually going to put a little bit more in just like so okay all right let's get it nice and coated just like this beautiful so all together this has been cooking for around about let's just say 11 to 12 minutes all right so now what we're gonna do now is time to throw everything in the pot and everything happens really quickly from here when i come back okay everyone so you know how we put the flour on the veggies there's a couple of different ways you can do that and i want to talk about that right now if you wanted to you can coat your beef in the flour and sear off your beef that way and then you'll still achieve that nice gravy from the flour that falls off into you know your sauce okay but when i make beef stew i like to put the flour on the veggies we're gonna use just two heaping tablespoons of the tomato paste and you don't have to worry about breaking it down this is going to cook so much it's going to break down itself okay so now that we have that we want to put a teaspoon you can use maybe a teaspoon and a half but i want you to keep in mind that this better than boy on beef flavoring it does have some salt in it so be careful if you've never used it before okay so we have our tomato paste better than bouillon beef flavoring right now we're going to go in with the crushed tomatoes just like so is this gonna make it taste tomatoey no not at all don't worry about that okay but you definitely need this when you're making beef stew now those of you that are really not fans of chunks of tomatoes you can skip this part but here at the young's house we love the chopped up tomatoes in with this recipe okay so now what i'm going to do i want to stir it up just a little bit just like so in this manner so everything is coated in that gorgeous crushed tomatoes okay and once we have that done here's what we'll do next now we're going to put some red pepper flakes if you if you're not a fan of the heat it's okay don't don't use it we don't want to burn off anybody's socks today just enough so you can feel a little bit on the back of the palate but not too much we're going to go in with some of that garlic paste that's going to give amazing flavor about that much is going to do the trick and then beef broth this whole 32 ounce you're going to need that whole 32 ounce just like so in this manner we're going to let this simmer down for around about a half an hour and when i come back we'll put our meat in with the veggies and i'll show you what to do next okay everyone our veggies and our tomato sauce our beef broth and all of these beautiful seasonings have been simmering down for about a half an hour now what we want to do is go ahead and put your meat in just like so okay be careful you don't want it to splatter all over the place if there's any juices on the platter just pour that in as well it's just fine so once i get all of this meat into our pan and this i'm going to let this simmer for a little bit and then i'll come back and i'll tell you the perfect time to put your other veggies in and also that gorgeous red wine okay everyone let's talk about something really quickly now's the perfect time if you wanted to use this throw that whole packet in there okay now i want to tell you about what the temperature you need to do you don't have to cover this if you cover this it'll thin out because steam will create and then you'll have a thin beef stew i don't want my beef too thin i want it nice and thick somewhat like a gravy so i'm gonna leave the lid off okay so i just wanted to talk about that when i come back i'll show you what we'll do next okay everyone so we let our beef stew cook take a look at it it's almost done i want you to see just how thick it is oh and look just how gorgeous i'm just what i'm doing here is i'm pushing some of the steam away so you all can get a good look at what this looks like it's chunky and it is simply beautiful that's what beef stews should look like gina young style now here's what we're going to do we're going to take our butternut squash get it in there just like so butternut squash is absolutely amazing in this dish and like i said don't forget that if you get the fresh butternut squash you put it in when you put your potatoes in because it will take longer this is the last 15 minutes of the cooking process and we go with the frozen butternut squash the peas and the carrots don't take any time i'm not going to use too many carrots because i'm not a fan of carrots but when you make beef stew you have to have it okay so what we're going to do we're going to let this gorgeous beef stew simmer for about 15 more minutes when i come back i'm going to say an amazing prayer and you all are going to get that first bite okay everyone there's one more thing that we need to do now is that perfect time to put your red wine in there and listen here i know a lot of you say i don't want to put wine in it listen it's not going to give you an alcohol flavor it's going to give you that umami flavor make them say mommy and we're just gonna put a little bit in there okay you have to have this all right that right there gorgeous it's gonna do the trick we're gonna get this in here like i said 15 minutes when i come back i'm gonna say a prayer and give this a bite okay everyone our beef stew is done and my mouth is salivating let me know anytime during this video if your mouth started salivating and your stomach started rumbling what a gorgeous bowl of beef stew now you can't have beef stew without a nice hearty bread sometimes i like to have garlic bread we're going to cut into this bread here this is a french bread and it's seasoned with garlic and herbs okay here's what i like to do i'm just going to cut two up don't cover it up with the lid it gets thin all right look at that i'm trying to get a piece of almost everything on this that's why i'm doing it this way give me everything on my spoon so right now i am so happy this is so delicious all of the flavors they really come together and don't you for don't you dare forget that butternut squash it really makes for an amazing beef stew i promise you
