[Music] did you call for assistance yes yes i did count dooku is one of the most fascinating characters in all of star wars and my personal favorite character from the era of the films introduced as a political idealist a former jedi who had somehow left the jedi order despite being mentioned in the first 10 minutes of attack of the clones it was an interesting choice to leave him totally absent for the first half of the film not introducing him fully until obi-wan kenobi arrived on geonosis one of the things that i loved about dooku was how much of his presence came from his reputation a reputation that was heavily hinted at but never fully explained it's clear from what is said that dooku was and continued to be respected among the other jedi even being defended by mace windu and kiarimundi when he was accused of an assassination plot to kill padme amidala you know my lady count dooku was once a jedi he couldn't assassinate anyone it's not in his character but there was always meant to be more to dooku's backstory so today i wanted to talk about my favorite deleted scene from all of star wars but before that i do have a sponsor to thank i hope you guys enjoy it because i had a lot of fun working on this one today's video is brought to you by manscaped they were kind enough to send me their lawnmower which is their leading product and i have a decent lawn so this is like the perfect size to mow it with my wife tells me that she prefers when i mow the lawn she likes some grass but not so much that it's uncomfortable to go outside barefoot apparently 85 percent of women prefer men who mow their lawns it's certainly easier than using one of those multi-blade manual shaver things because those are terrible and scary and have a tendency to nick the ground and that's no fun but yeah i've been using this thing for about a week and my lawn has never looked better plus i've had absolutely no nicks or cuts which is just such a burden lifted off of my shoulders i'm personally a huge fan of their perfect package 3.0 which is what they sent me which includes the lawnmower as well as a whole bunch of really cool stuff for you to use for your manly grooming routine click my link in the description and use the promo code lore20 to get 20 off your order and free shipping so that you can have the best looking lawn around wait i'm supposed to use it on what the lawnmower by manscaped the grass is greener when it's shorter i think the count dooku is behind it he is a political idealist not a murderer so first off i wanted to show you guys this deleted scene in its entirety and then we can talk about the clip together did you call for assistance yes yes i did ah he has a very powerful face doesn't he he was one of the most brilliant jedi i've had the privilege of knowing i never understood why he quit well one might say he was always a bit out of step with the decisions of the council much like your old master kwai really oh yes they were very individual thinkers idealists in the end i think he left because he lost faith in the republic he disappeared for nine of 10 years and turned up recently as head of the separatist movement it's very interesting i'm not sure i completely understand well you didn't call me over here for a history lesson are you having a problem master canoe so as i've mentioned this scene is one of my favorites i've used quotes from it in various other videos and i've always gotten people asking what scene this is from well it is from this deleted scene what makes the clip so interesting is that the scene was never actually de-canonized unlike many other deleted scenes from the prequels like the many deaths of shakti what is its kai walker [Music] it seems that this scene was mostly cut for time reasons rather than story reasons but the actual words have only been more fully affirmed in canon i love this because it seems to explain why dooku was such an idealist and where qui-gon's uniqueness came from you forget but he was once my apprentice just as you were once his i also love how it shows obi-wan reflecting fondly on qui-gon it really demonstrates the positive relationship of the jedi lineage i mean this is his jedi granddad so to speak and it really adds a lot of weight to the latter portion of the movie when obi-wan actually meets dooku another interesting thing this scene does is it really zeros in on this bronze bust of count dooku the bronze bus are said to be the lost 20 the 20 jedi masters who walked away from the jedi order it's really interesting that over the thousands of years that the jedi have been around only 20 masters have actually walked away dooku being the most recent and the last of the lost 20 to walk away before the fall of the jedi order the bronze busts are still there in the final film however it's the deleted scene that really zeroes in on them and i think that that's a really cool feature getting to hear joe costa new talk about how great dooku was as a jedi it also demonstrates a little bit of extra info on jocasta new you wouldn't know this from the movies as they are now but jocasta new was actually a very level-headed jedi who respected those who challenged the jedi council again you wouldn't get this from the movies because she says this line if an item does not appear in our records it does not exist this line is of course a microcosm of jedi arrogance and their frailty in the last days of the republic they were admittedly blinded by the dark side and yet they continued to pretend that they had all the answers if informed the senate is multiply our adversaries will but in reality jocasta knew had great respect for dooku as we've mentioned in previous videos dooku's best friend sifo dias began receiving visions of the sith returning to destroy the jedi and he believed that this was coming soon after the council refused to listen to cyphodius another jedi by the name of ino cordova began receiving similar visions of the same nature and jucosta new remembered what happened to sifo-dyas and was not willing to let it happen again so she actually stole a holocron from the jedi archives a holocron containing the names of all four sensitive children in the galaxy my friend entering the vault gave me a premonition just as it did for the zepho i saw the fall of the jedi the overwhelming power of the dark side spreading across the galaxy we must act quickly i need to inform the council my friend i flew with all haste to coruscant and presented my findings to the council despite my persistence despite my research they do not take this threat seriously only one person believed in me my old confidant jocasta knew she entrusted me with a holocron from the jedi archives a secret copy of her list of young force sensitives she gave the holocron to cordova so that the jedi order could be rebuilt after the coming destruction this holocron is the central plot point for the video game jedi fallen order and it's only said in a single lore entry that you can get in the pause menu that the holocron was given to ino cordova by joe costa new now as mentioned before the content in this deleted scene is actually still canon dooku jedi lost really dives into dooku's idealism and morality confirming everything said by joe costa new here in the deleted scene dooku believed in the jedi as they were meant to be but not in what the jedi order had become and qui-gon really truly embodied dooku's moral compass believing in the will of the force over the will of the council dooku and qui-gon were in my humble opinion the greatest and most grounded jedi in the final days the republic if the jedi council had not been so blinded by their hubris i believe that either of them would have been successful in reforming the jedi order and properly training anakin with the jedi family he deserved and not forcing him to resort to joining the sith to find belonging the biggest difference though between qui-gon and his master of course is that dooku lived long enough to see himself become the villain but anyway this was my favorite deleted scene from all of star wars giving us some background to my favorite jedi before he became a sith what do you think of this deleted scene and how do you feel about all this extra background on dooku and do you think that this scene adds to his overall arc let me know your thoughts down the comments below because as always i want to know what you my friends have to say about our favorite galaxy far far away don't forget to like and subscribe if you enjoyed the video or if you absolutely hated it and learn nothing new you can feel free to leave a thumbs down completely guilt free because that tells me i'm not doing my job thank you all so much for watching and as always may the lore be with you now and forever
