hello and welcome today I'm going to show you how I export a Daz character to character creator 4 and then import that into Unreal Engine 5. hello we begin today by opening up a file browser and in this case I'm a I've installed character creator to its default location which is C programs files reillusion and here is carrots creator go into that folder then go to program assets [Music] external files and here is something called Daz resource I'll just leave that on the screen for a moment if we look this is where it is on my particular hard drive so wherever you install character creator 2 you would make the necessary adjustments to the path and find this folder in this Das resource folder there is a folder a pose and t-pose and we need to copy these and put them in your Daz content folder okay now that might be different for you I use a custom Das folder but locate that folder and place these in it I usually for example uh I will show you in a minute when I open Daz I will take these and I will place them inside a folder called cc4 let me show you that so here we are inside Daz studio and here is my cc4 folder that I created in my Content Library and I've placed all those poses from those two folders into one folder called poses look there we go and what we're interested in today we're going to be creating a cc3 plus character so in order to do that you would use the Genesis a female a pose because we're using a Genesis 8.1 character if you was creating just a standard cc3 character you would use the T pose which is this let me open it up for you okay so it'd put your character into T pose but today we're using the a pose right let's proceed then now you have those files because it's very important you're going to have to place your character into that pose before we export to character creator okay so here is my character and a good way to tell if your hair is going to look okay in character creator I found is if you are just here in normal texture shaded if you if your hair looks okay it may look alright in character creator now I will be straight up front with you I don't usually uh take care and bring it into character creator because I use Unreal Engine so I will take this hair I will convert it to groom hair in blender and then I will import that into the engine and attach it to my character I'm not going to do that today I'm going to send this character to carrick's Creator so let's do that now in my case I am using a Genesis 8.1 character now this presents a problem and you will not be able to import this character straight into character creator we need to do one more thing first and that is come up to tools go to Joint editor you can do alt shift J as well to open this and right click you'll see this little red arrow here if we zoom in look it's under the root node and if we right click on that go to edit rename node and as you will know it's the node name is Genesis 8 underscore one female this confuses carrick's Creator so what we need to do is remove the one and the underscore so it just says Genesis 8 female and I'm going to copy that and I'm going to put it into the node label as well so the both Genesis a female hit accept and now we can come out of this tool and that's all we needed to do for that what I'm going to do if you have a look here because this is a Genesis 8 character it did have uh eyebrows and A Tear line I have removed them just by deleting them next I want to select the dress the hair and the shoes and what I'm going to do is actually unparent those for now okay so they are separate from our Genesis 8 character in my experience this works a lot better as I said at this point you would apply your a pose which we brought in from character creator and now we are ready to export we go to bio export and we will call this something we will call it [Music] um Tut 81. I don't want to get confused with tati we'll call it 81 meaning Genesis 8.1 and we will click save and from this export options dialog I don't want to check selected because I want to export everything I'm going to check figures um I'm not going to check anything else except for animations and we'll export all the morphs and things I don't think they import into character creator I could be wrong and yeah that's it so all those options and then hit accept and once the character is exported we'll jump over to character creator 4. inside carrick's Creator 4 we come up to Transformer in my case it's going to be cc3 plus Please be aware this only supports Genesis 8 characters as far as I can tell if you've got a Genesis 3 character Etc you would choose cc3 so I'm going to choose cc3 plus and we're going to choose the file we exported from Dash Studio and hit import if it all went well then you will get this dialog I click advanced and then this dialog pops up what I'm going to do is I would personally normally not use the skin that comes from Das Studio I would if I am using Dash Studio textures I would use the skin gen premium plugin which is a paid plugin so I'm not going to do that because not everybody has it but it is worth the money believe me and so what I'm going to do instead is I'm going to bake the textures from Daz so I'm going to choose 2K in this case I'm going to generate a profile in my case it already exists because I've already done this and so you'd give it a file name hit save yes I want to replace then it will ask for a texture folder this is where your textures your baked texture is going to be stored in my case I already have a textures folder I will just select that in my case I already have a textures folder I'm just going to delete that and then create it again for you before you so you can see I'm going to call it textures textures [Music] like so and then select that folder and there we go next I'm going to come down here and it's brought the buttons across that I I wasn't too keen on bringing across so I'm going to oh don't check those I'm not going to import those this is the eyelashes I'm going to actually leave those as cloth and this is Ms dress so this is the dress so I'm going to set tight to cloth and then I'm going to come here I'm going to actually set it to dress and if this was for example uh lower half trousers pants Etc you would obviously not put dress here hair I'm going to choose hair brows and beard and then just hair base for this and then that presumes is the shoes it's Auto automatically selected shoes and shoes there if for some reason um you didn't find a folder earlier with the poses in it here for example we could find the a poles if you click on it it actually opens up hold on there we go it opens up this file explorer with your poses in look for Daz so it's a bit late in the process for that and I wish it was a little bit easier to find but if you do need to find those folders again you can do it here look so if you click on that one the t-pose folder with all the daz T poses pops up okay right let's hit OK and import this character this will take a while because we are baking textures okay so our dad's character has now been imported what I'm going to quickly do is just save the project and this is so if we have any crashes we don't have to go through all that baking process again let's have a look at the character Okay so I'm not going to go in depth on how to alter characters inside character creator um I would personally not use this desk and I would use a cc3 plus Bass and then I would simply work with Dash textures over the top as I said with skin gem premium what I would normally do though here at least just so it looks pleasing as I would smooth out the character and I would add I element like so I would also let me select my main character again fixed eye element and I would immediately come over to actor and let me find I here and we have dark brown eyes here so I would choose a dark brown eye like so now you could argue that the other looks better and it probably did I've not figured out a way how to fix these yet we can select them like so and go to the material [Music] and that's about it I really don't want to get in depth with this now but what I will do is I will jump over to moths I will go straight to I and hopefully you have these I know you do have to pay for some morphs I don't know which one I paid and which aren't I've kind of lost track right I will increase the eyeball scale all good right what I want to do now is I was getting a bit carried away with morphs I want to click on animation player I want soft cloth and we'll click on physics as well so animation player and down here you can go to here click and I like to test with personally you can you can use calibration poses Etc but I want to try out posing I just want to see how the dress moves let's have a look okay hit play this is why I like character creator over Daz I can very quickly do something like this I can I can put in a lighting preset for example um let me do that now let me just go to maybe atmosphere and [Music] let's try cinematic see so it's just I can very quickly get things done that I'm not happy with that dress I I really am not but for the purposes of this tutorial it's fine um we could change the dress material I suppose so if I go to it [Music] and then hit play again let me spin around to the back see what's happening yeah we'll find from some angles okay um let's proceed uh I would add Auto blinking as well I'm going to add foot contact and what thought contact does is obviously it contacts the character with the floor so [Music] there we go about there hit play again and there we go I I reckon that this is ready now to go to Unreal Engine 5. so let's do that now we go to file export fbx clothes character I want to export to unreal I am going to choose mesh and motion I want to select current animation all uncheck first frame in buying poles I am going to export mesh and motion individually and hit export and I will call this there is Tutti 81 ue5 yes I want to replace that and let's export this okay so that's our character exported let's jump over to Unreal Engine 5 and import this character okay so Unreal Engine 5 is open and we're compiling lots of shaders so while we do that I'm going to import into a folder and then let me just find it there we go and so this is what we exported from character creator 3081 ue5 I'm going to open that up it asked me uh I've got the plugin that character creator and iclone auto setup import options plugin enabled I've already done this in another tutorial this version is 1.24 I'm going to choose high quality Shader hit okay and now next the character should give you an fbx dialogue here is I'm going to leave skeleton to none and let me just go to Advanced yep that's all correct and down in the material section somebody asked me about this I just leave materials at default and then I hit import and that's it again I already have a tutorial about this okay so our character is imported it's not brilliant because obviously when we didn't use cc3 plus skins these are the original Daz skins and so I I personally wouldn't do this I just wouldn't and it's for this reason that Daz characters do not look good inside Unreal Engine 5 they just don't and so it's it's better to do it the Character Creator way uh than this but let's try and fix the hair um we'll go to here and let's come down to Alpha multiplier and do this and let's have a look probably too much let's go back there we go and it out slightly and there we go right let's just quickly import the animation so close that that and import and where is it here it is the motion fbx file open and that's imported here is there we go I'm going to save all [Music] foreign that into a scene and see what we can do with it this is already a scene I used in the previous tutorial also I'm just going to some reason we have glowing eyes let me just get the Skylight there we go and where is my camera change the focal distance to how about that fantastic and then where's my blight there we go again it doesn't look great maybe like this and if we come on to that uh okay I'm just putting a live links guys little animation on there so it it animates in the browser for us let me just adjust my camera slightly and change the current aperture to around three instead there we go what I'm going to quickly do is I want to show you the difference now I've used the daz textures and obviously it doesn't look that much better than just sending straight from Daz into unreal slightly better maybe so let me go back to Character Creator and I'm not going to show you this process and I will adapt this character in the way that I normally would and then I'll show you the difference foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] it is possible to uh make it look a lot better but I would need more time and obviously I can't do that during the tutorial it's something I would go away during days and days and make it look better but that's it I hope you found this useful please stop being a tutorial I'm more filming me doing things so hopefully you found that helpful once it cools down a little bit in the UK I will do some more if you've got any suggestions for tutorials please leave a comment below and I will see you in the next one [Music] thank you [Music]
