Daily Devotional | The King Has Another Move

[Music] well hallelujah to the lamb I'm pastor Jeffrey Johnson senior I'm the senior pastor of the Eastern Star Church in Indianapolis and Fishers Indiana with a word of inspiration for you on today out of first Timothy chapter 6 verse 15 which he will manifest in his own time he who is the blessed and only potentate the king of kings and the Lord of lords when I was a youngster in church I remember a minister telling a story about a man who went to a museum and as he walked through the museum he got intrigued by a portrait it was a portrait of a man who was playing the devil in a game of chess for the man's soul it was called checkmate and this man in the museum he was a chess champion himself so when he gets to this portrait and he sees this man playing for a soul against the devil he stops and looks at this portrait called checkmate and he could see it through the picture that the man seemed to be losing his soul he's being defeated he could tell about a frown on the man's face and a smile on the devil's face that the devil's getting the victory and the man is losing his soul to the devil and you could tell because the name of the picture the portrait is checkmate and in checkmate that means you finish you're done you're defeated and this chess champion just stood there for hours looking at this portrait the museum gets ready to close he's still intrigued by the portrait he's standing there and the employees are walking up to him since sir you have to leave we're getting ready to close and he says I can't something that's not right with this picture so you have to with the museum is closing you have to get out of here no there's something wrong with the picture and the employees begin to ask well what is wrong with this picture well you the picture seems to suggest that this man is losing he's frowning in this chess match with the with the devil for soul it's checkmate but this is not checkmate I can look into portrait and see that the King still has another move and you're in this time of unrest in this time of inequality in this time of social injustice in this pandemic and the sickness and this unemployment so many of us have frowns on our faces and we're depressed it looks like the devil is one it looks like we're defeated but I want you to understand that the King still has another move the Apostle Paul told that young preacher Timothy that Jesus is Lord of lords and he's king of King and even when it looks like it's over King Jesus still has another move right on King Jesus no one shall hinder thee let us pray lord thank you for the truth of your word and the revelation of your Holy Spirit that even when it seems like all hope is gone we're all helpless and defeated that we can trust your word to know that the king of kings King Jesus still has another move move and bless he'll deliver and set free in Jesus name Amen [Music]
