Jules just when I look around I see the footprints of this great preacher everything such precision and order preacher like no other the other day he came to my church and set the house on fire why we were shaking and that the door lady wasn't even discreet when are you coming I wish you were all pastor I turned to her and I was about to say so what about me but I thank your pastor for allowing me this privilege he is a dear friend and a brother he had that unique ability to make you feel like you're the only friend in the world unique gift loved him dearly I hope I know you're treating him well and I know that that you're doing your very best to remember those vital statistics is anniversary and birthday and send him on a vacation every now and then the preacher is doing a marvelous work here and let's put our hands together in that knowledge the angel of this house faster Abraham Jews I know is why Dominique is sitting out there somewhere she never liked to be acknowledged but I have to behind every good bad or successful man is a good woman and we not only the first lady today on this day thank my good buddy pastor Pastor Golf whenever those two get together fire they bring down the house such a dynamic duo so good to see you pastor you know when you're giving me those words of introduction and telling the Brethren I was going to the Far West the woman right behind me I heard her she didn't know I heard she said there was fire out there I wanted to add there's earthquake - but anywhere was Jesus I could safely go so you have to pray especially for me out there I'm gonna hold you there this call came out of no you know where I love northeastern this is the only conference that I've ever known was looking for for this call didn't seek it they came they came calling and so all I did was answered I will miss you all but Jesus said if I go I will come again amen let's look to the word this morning Jeremiah 18 one through six craves our indulgence at this time Jeremiah 18 the Bible says and the word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord saying my 18 one through six arise and go down to the potter's house and there I will call thee to hear my word and I went down to the potter's house and behold Arafah a work on the wheel need to pay attention to the wheel in verse three the wheel and the vessel that he made of clay was barred in the hand of the Potter so he made it again another vessel seemed good to the Potter to make it the word of the Lord came to me saying o house of Israel cannot I do with you at this Potter said the Lord behold as the clay is in the Potters hand so are ye in mine hand o house of Israel for the next few minutes we want to look at the subject trust the process that's power heads or my father if we now open the written word which now will become the spoken word I pray your father that you will plant my feet on higher ground and evade me just a little higher this morning give your servant clarity of word and thought and mind father we when I asked for the Holy Spirit to come now in copious showers and so consecrate me now to thy service Lord by thy power of grace divine and may my soul look up with a steadfast hope and my will be lost in time in Jesus name we pray you know in the world of sports there are many thing that we can learn which if we apply to our lives we can read positive results case in point there is a popular saying or a cliche that has become the mantra of the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team it's called trust the process this catchphrase was first used by the 76ers former general manager Sam inky you see the 76ers had the worst record in the league they were at the bottom of the barrel in comparison to the elite teams of both the eastern and the Western Conference even though they had the number-one draft pick back-to-back here then acquired the great Ben Simmons and Marco Falls not to mention the dominant and domineering Joel embiid they still had a losing season suffering setbacks after setbacks but in spite of their embarrassing display on the court at the press conference when the general manager was asked about the dismal performance he never panicked he never seemed overly worried he just simply acts Philadelphia fan beads to exercise patience and trust the process now what seems like empty words back then have turned out to be words of wisdom and insight because now the 76ers are at the top of their game not where they want to be just yet because those of us who love the game of basketball and watch the playoff just the other day can attest that a few weeks ago we saw them got spanked by the Boston Celtics but at the same time they are certainly not where they used to be having the worst record in the league and now their fans are have a lot to look forward to for the coming years all because they exercise patience and had trust in the process now if we can do that for a basketball team that has though Viveca batter down here understanding that it takes time to go from ordinary to extraordinary then how much more should we be patient with the airing wand especially those who have just got baptized how much more should we be patient with them follow me now as we look at a few verses of this chapter in Jeremiah here we find God is speaking to him and he's asking him to arise a comma after the word arrives indicates that the word is in the imperative tense meaning that God is giving the Prophet a command there are times when God please then he begs said he urges he promised but then there are the times when he commands this case God is not implying to Jeremiah that it would be a good idea thought is not asking him either he's telling him he's telling him to arise get up and go down to the potter's house and there I will cause you to hear my words let me unpack these few verses in chapter 18 here the people of Israel had sinned against God and he had pronounced judgment upon them now the Bible is famous for demonstrating the Justice of God there are numerous stories in his word of swift and brutal punishment upon the wicked for example Lot's wife she turned into a pillar of salt just for looking back at Sodom when she was specifically instructed not to this should be a warning to all of us when God to live with you from Sodom don't look back when he delivered you from a negative past don't look back if he delivers you from alcohol don't look back if he delivered you from drugs don't look back if he delivers you from a sinful lifestyle don't look back if God lives you from friends that were drying your soul down to hell don't look back if God delivers you from a relationship that's toxic and abusive don't look back because there just might be some serious consequences the problem with Lot's wife were that she looked back and after that she became a pillar of salt now we can agree that God's judgment on occasion has been swift and brutal upon the wicked but in this case in the Book of Jeremiah there are snapshots of both his justice and his unfailing mercy towards the people of Israel throughout Jeremiah's writing we can gain a greater understanding and appreciation of how merciful God is because when we stop and consider the people of Israel were not in a good place spiritually Jeremiah said of them in chapter 5 verse 8 that they were as fed horses in the morning everyone made after his neighbor's wife so in other words they were guilty of the sin of adultery and the comparison to an animal highlights the crudeness of their actions this verse also indicates that they were not subtle in their doings either but paid their awful acts publicly they left nothing to the imagination they had neither respect for God a lower man but that's got all not only were they guilty of the sin of adultery and every moral act they were also guilty of murder ingratitude at temple desecration often time they sacrifice their children idles just to name a few all these brazen and presumptuous sin to the side of God it called for his swift action he Israel had filled their cup of iniquity to the point that it was full and running over and now justice demand that they be wiped out and the nation justice demanded that they be blotted out of existence justice demanded that they reap the full measure of their deed but somewhere in God's psyche mercy said no and Israel is not the only one who is deserving of God's wrath think of them anytime that you deserve the swift judgment of God think of the many time that he should have turned his back on you think of the many times he should have let you drown in your tears think of the many times he shouldn't have answered your prayers think of the many time that that God could have let you die when your and on the hospital table think of the many time that that devil could have taken you out I'm so glad that mercy said Noah I don't know about you but when I think about my situation I'm glad that mercy said no let me see the hand of those who need some mercy right now God could not could have given up on us a long time ago but his mercy said Noah someone said there is a whiteness in God's mercy like the wideness of the sea praise be to God would you see him in out there now God could have given up in Israel but again his unfailing mercy would not allow him and this was a little puzzling to Jeremiah because he had heard how God acted in time past toward the transgressor of his law he heard out the earth opened up and swallowed Korah Dathan and abiram when they rose up against Moses he heard how Pharaoh's army was drowned in the deep red sea saying with a little confusing and a little mystified to Jeremiah of how God acted he looked in himself and he said why is God acting different today because the acted a which such judgment calling so easily back in Israel then why is he not acting the same way today well you need to understand that when it comes to the act of judgment God calls it his strange act it is trained because that's not his nature that's out of character for God you see God's natural disposition is to love to forgive to show mercy and to give grace or I let me throw it where you can catch it as parents you may be angry at your children when they are disobedient is that right oh yes and you're angry when they don't listen but at the same time your natural inclination is to love them and to shower them with kindness well God is the same way he may not like some of the things that we do but he loves us just the same you see he hates the sin but he loves the sinner he may hate homosexuality but he loves the homosexual he may hate the act of murder but he loved the murderer we can't comprehend it we can't fathom it we just have to believe it and accept it and understand that no matter how deep in sin you may have fallen God's hand can reach down to the gutter ball and pull you from the pit of deep despair and I can testify because until you know the loving hand that reaches down to fallen man and lift him up from out of sin we're here fallen until you know just how it feels to know that God is really real then you know nothing until you know the love of God I wish I had some testimonies up in here who could testify about how good god is and such a loving sinner if you have committed two hundred pounds of sin he has 300 pounds of forgiveness that's the kind of God we serve would you see men out there and another thing I've discovered in that there's absolutely nothing that you can do to stop God from loving you if he had that kind of and love that won't let you go it's a kind of love that doesn't wait to be loved back in return for example there are some people that I know that who will only love you when you love them back in return you know folk like that they will only love you if you love them in return but I'm glad that God is not like that you see his love he loves us even when we don't love him he loves us even when we get rich in swich you know I got some friends if they Trevor they haven't seen you for a long time you seem like you got rich and switch have your friend ever told you that yes well God loves us even when we get rich on him and switch he loves us even when we turned our back on him God's love is not the kind that love because us again there are some people who will love you because of what you can do for them like some girls I know notice the operative word is some I didn't say old I want to remain on the girls side today some girls I know if you give them money and buy them expensive gifts or give them your credit card to go shopping all day they will call you all the sweetest name in the dictionary oh my sugarplum my sweetie pie my honey bunny bye my sweety come brush me all the sweetest thing that adjectives in the dictionary uh-huh but that kind of love is based on what you did but see if you never gave her money if you never gave her your credit card if you never gave her diamond and pearl she would have never said those flowery words am i right about it the only word that you would have heard when you especially when you try to hold her hand is it you're never never gonna get it never never gonna get it not this time never never let me leave that alone you don't know what I'm tell you get it next week that kind of love doesn't stand the test of time that's a fear weather kind of love I love that's here today and goal tomorrow a love that will disappear on you like Casper the Friendly Ghost but the kind of love that God give if the love that's in spite of her and not because of her he loved us in spite of Ophelia that in spite of our shortcoming that in spite of our wicked way that in spite of how we turn our back on him someone said though I've turned my back on him and wander away still he does love me wherever I strayed but back to his dear loving Dom I would flee when I remember that Jesus loved me I wish I had some worshipers who could testify that God is that kind of love he will love you know what when he will love you in spite of your sicknesses as part of your shortcut being there that love is so high you can't get over it so low you can't get on the rent so wide you can't get around it you just have to accept it and to give God the phrase forgiving it what do you say man out there a perfect example of this love is found in our texts of concentration between the Potter and the clay first two says said to Jeremiah see germs Germany I didn't understand why God just wouldn't give up on Israel no matter how they had sinned so he had to going places where crime was up and the brothers were hitting up and prostitution was the order of the day Jeremiah's delicate sensibilities I'm sure were offended but it's part of it all the command was still to go down you see in order to save us all God has to take us down down into farmers Boulevard and knock on some doors down into gaibara in some of these neighborhoods where the crack is high and cocaine is on the rise down in some of those back alleys where the gang bangers are hanging out and and right down in some of those grisly ghettos where the little homies are trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents down where women are are drugging and prostituting their body sometimes God has to take us out of our comfort zone and take us out of these a wonderful air-conditioned building then padded future and pecos town where the masses are and let us know that that God is able to save to the utmost of those who come unto him by faith praise be the God God has to take us down and I know one day because I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful Shore I'm talking about when God takes you down sinking deeply stained within thinking to rise no more but then the master of the sea heard my despairing cry and from the waters he lifted me now safe am i when God walls to see the sinner sometimes he has to take us down down where the going is rougher and the going gets tougher and the hills are hard to climb but I started out a long time ago and I've made up my mind that I've decided to make Jesus my choice and watcher my was going down he stopped by the porters house and saw him toiling over a lump of clay at the wheels and he watched the Potter at work he noticed that the clay was just like any other clay as a matter of fact it looked just like the same clay that he sees in his back yard everyday there was nothing special about it it was just dirt let me give me give you this one for free don't ever allow anyone to put you down or to cause you to have a low self-esteem about yourself because whoever is trying to put you down remember this one thing that they also came from dirt they nothing but dirt they made a bit of anything different from you now now they may be a different shade of dirt some are white turn yellow turn brown turn red dirt black dirt but they are still dirt yes they may have a PhD but all that is it's just a dirt which has a PhD so what if they have a lot of money they're just dirt who happen to have a lot of money if they have to have a private jet they're just dirt who have a private jet and if they have an office in the church so what big deal they are just dirt who happened to have an office in the church at times people say to be man pastor I coming back to church because somebody did me wrong well really if you stop to think about it for a minute the person who did you wrong ain't nothing but dirt they came from dirt so can you imagine you are gonna allow them this person may be this tall a little five five foot one or five field to pile of dirt to stop you from coming to church stopped you from getting your blessing stopped you from going to where God wants it to be stop you from getting to the next level I don't think so ain't no dirt ain't that important I'm sorry but I'll be darned if I'm gonna let some power seeking egotistical dirt block my blessing would you say man out there don't let anybody put you down because we all came from dirt turn to your neighbor and say neighbor I ain't scared of you because I ain't nothing but dirt the Jeremiah noticed that there was nothing special about the dirt that was in the Potters hand that it was just ordinary dirt perhaps it in his installation the clay was good for nothing ah what I've learned about the Potter is that it's a perfect portrait of all of us because all of us are sinners all of us are worthless lump of clay like the clay we are good for nothing we are nothing to write home about like the clay we are just ready to be thrown out but then in the text I want you to notice the Potter took the time wrought a work at the wheel well what's the wheel in this context the wheel is the instrument or a horizontal piece of this that the porter uses to shape the clay into a decorative useful object now what I've discovered about the Potter is he only takes clay to the wheel when he is gonna make a vessel out of it and how he does it is he takes a lump of clay and he places it in a center turntable called the wheel head and then he spent it with his foot like how micron I remember those old swing machine you gotta go down with the foot somebody knows that I'm talking about you see y'all sophisticated you know you don't know nothing about that but then you go with the swing machine man and to the Potter he hasn't the clean his hand and he's going at the spinning wheel and my friend you need to understand this that the Potter only takes the vessel to the wheel when he wants to make something out of it somebody all the time I feel like preaching now somebody ought to shout at the stand up and to say praise be to God he took me to the wheel praise be to God he took me to the wheel because he saw in you a vessel that he could use the president didn't see it the nominating committee didn't see it the board members didn't see but that's alright god soit even said that man you can't be have a position in the church you haven't been here long enough but oh you don't have to worry about being a position in the church a lot of your name is written in heaven God sees what you can be praise be to God he took you to the wheel there the only church of church folks saw all they saw what a lump of clay but God saw a vessel that he could use so somebody need to give him the glory somebody need to shout praise because he took you to the wheeler I believe somebody here today may have been thrown out as good-for-nothing oh you've been thrown out as worthless but praise be to God he took you to the wheeler because God saw it what you could be when you're pleased that's in the master's hand I don't know about you but I'm so glad that he took me to the wheeler he took me off the crap heap of sinner and he took me to the wheeler he took me off the crap heap of disappointment and he took me to the wheeler he took me off the crap people failure and he took me to the wheeler he took me off the crap heap of feeling like crap and he took me to the wheeler if you feel like me this morning and you'll feel like crap just wave your hand all over this building you don't have to be cute about it you don't have to be ashamed to acknowledge it because all the Potter is gonna do is take you to the wheeler and make you all over again if you want to be made all over again just shout glory if you want God to take you to the wheel Jesus uh I don't know about you but I'm so glad that he took me to the wheeler ah Lord I'm a worthless sitter the chief of sitter but you took me to the wheel I've seen them come short but you keep taking me back to the wheel I feel you in word sword action and indeed but Lord don't show me away just paint me to the weak and mold me and make me after your will while I'm weeping a yielding and still and not only take me to the wheel order but keep me there until sin die out in me keep me at the wheel until your walk me and Paul crispy and tell me that I'm your own keep me at the wheel until I wrapped up tie it up tangle up in Jesus Jesus is my whole and all keep me at the wheel until you heal my body keep me at the wheel until you take away my pain keep the wheel until my eyes shall see the glory of the coming of the Lord praise be to God he's gonna keep you at the wheel I don't you know Ezekiel saw the wheel way up in the middle of the air a wheel and a wheel way in the middle of the air the big wheel run by faith and the little we run by the grace of God a wheel and a wheel way in the middle of the air somebody other shout glory tonight I'm glad for the wheel how about you I told you to pay attention to that wheel and so now watch this in the eyes of man again we just look like a worthless piece of clay nothing about it nothing to it but you don't have to worry about that because you're not here in church because of any man you're not here in church to get banned applause no no there's if it were up to anyone in here you'd have been dead a long time ago but but but so it doesn't matter what what men say it was God say that counts he had the final word you see God doesn't look at us from the bifocals of man because man is quick to condemn and quick to ride off and quick to put down and denounced as useless but when God looks at us he sees what we can become when we were placed in his hands I'll never forget it self-disclosing now I'm not proud about it but one day I was in school and the teacher you know saw me as worthless that's good for nothing and he said forever steward why that silly grin off your self-righteousness well a bunch of righteous holy righteous food there's the righteousness and then there is righteousness you know when when folk get baptized and come into the church we expect them to stop everything that they were doing all at once so on day one we want them to dress like us look plain like us wear their skirts like us become vegetarian like us and you know Charlie whether when you came into the church you are doing none of those things every Church I go ah ha I tell my members don't mess with my new converts if you have nothing good and uplifting to say then saying nothing at all some of us all we are good for is to run folk out of the church especially if you're doing nothing to bring them in one time a church member came to me as a pastor where are those numbers you baptized I don't see them I tell you pastor not to baptizing too soon I said where are they you were the one who told them not to wear that skirt so shorts you were the one who told them to take that earring for both their ears take that necklace around their necks my loved one God told us to catch the fish he never gave anybody of authority to scale the fish are you hearing this and so there are some poke we are not gonna get it all together right away long as you're coming to church that's good enough for me leave people alone and mind your own visitor because if I look in your closet there's enough skeleton in there to last for a lifetime I'm just trying to make it in I just want to make it in I don't care my friends what people are doing I don't have time to be any peeping tom and to watch what you're doing I don't care who is sleeping around with who long as when you come to church and you hear a word that Jesus is mighty to save it that's what is required the Bible says what does the Lord require of thee but to do justly and love mercy and walk humbly with thy God and stop watching and getting involved in other people's business I didn't mean to say all of that so I watched this first for that the best of that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the Potter it was watching now how could that be it's in the part of hands but at the same time it is mine now what's clear to me like never before that even in the part of the hands things will go terribly wrong don't ever feel that because you're in church and because you got baptized that the devil gotten your address that devil he's of no respecter of person I have discovered that in this life feelings get hurt church members fight positions get changed marriages break up children go astray money runs low bills increase blood pressure gets high I bought it deteriorate and get sick am I right so far am I talking the truth lives get shattered huh we fall from grace what I'm trying to say is on the journey sings will go wrong as they sometimes do even when you're in the partners hands but the fault is not with the partners the problem is with the claim you see you must remember that we were born in sin and seeped in iniquity so every now and then our lives are gonna be shattered and broken my last point verse 6 I'm giving you the remedy now and then I'm gonna get out of your way it says o house of Israel mm-hmm this is where it gets good it says verse 6 o house of Israel cannot I do with you as this potter saith the lord he says behold as the clay is in the Potters hand so are you in my hand o CWC let me give you this for free even though the clay was marred and messed up the good news is it was still in the Potters hands so as long as you remain in the Potters hand he has the power to rebuild you again and to make you over again so if you want through success in life you don't have to read dr. Phil's book new rules for living all you gotta do is stay in the Potters hand and if like humpty-dumpty you accidentally fall that's alright because we have the best repair team on the planet he will knew his past and they didn't pay him any mind they would pay attention to the other candidates but they left him out well as the evangelists I they have to follow my direction and so I went to him and I saw that he loved the Lord in spite of what he was doing he loved the Lord I said one peep Billy do you love Jesus he said yes I love him I said is it your desire to follow him all the way and man I must admit at the pastor I made the way so hard I said do you know you got to stop this do you know you got to stop drinking do you know you gotta come off drugs and for I was hoping that he here it will brush your teeth it will give you a new closer it will put shoes on your feet it will help you to walk right and to talk right it will deliver you in the darkest hour yes the claim may be Marda but praise be to God it was still in the part of head you may not receive the answer to your prayer but stay in the Potters hand it may seem like God have forgotten your address but stay in the Potters hand you may have fallen and you can't get up but stay in the Potters hand your life might not be going the way you planned but don't worry about it as long as you remain in the Potters hand it's gonna be all right sometimes you're up and more times down but stay in the Potters hand that cancer may be malignant that's all right just stay in the Potters hand your bad deeds may outweigh your good deeds but stay in the Potters hand your lover your loved ones may close their eyes in death but don't get mad at God just stay in the Potters hand and when you're in his hand he will give you a peace in the midst of your storm he will renew your faith restore your confidence courage relieve your fears readjust your focus redeem your life I'm talking about redeem redeem how I love to proclaim it Redeemer by the blood of the Lamb if you ask me how I know you see I've been down before but I made it I've been hit by rock bottom but I made it I've been sick before but I made it I've cried sometimes but I was ladies I've been betrayed sometimes but I'll lead it I've been lied upon but I'll lead it I've been destitute but I'll lead it I've been rejected but I've made it because through it all I said through it all how to trust in Jesus and I've learned how to trust in God I said through it all through it all I've learned to depend upon His Word and if you ask me how I know I will tell you the same power that passed out seven people out of Mary Magdalene it's at same power that same tuna from the belly of the whale that same power from Pharaoh's army in the deep red sea if
