hello and welcome to today's hit film video today we'll be showing you three effects which you can use to make some really creative text effects so let's begin today I'm going to be going through things a little bit quickly but not too quickly and most of the stuff should be fairly easy to understand so today's video is going to be rated three stars out of five on the difficulty scale also I'm looking to expand my channel a little bit because hip film is great but if there's any other I've no tutorials that you guys want for other programs or making films in general or any kind of video that you guys want just leave a comment down below so that I can see what kind of videos you guys would like for me but with that being said let's get into this video so herein is composite shot we've got four layers we're just going to go through them one at a time the first one is a fractal noise plane pretty much it's just a black pane with a fractal noise effect on it everything has been left at default except for the fact that I've keyframed the position that it moves and you can see here in a fractal noise transform position I've just set a keyframe at the beginning of the comp and at the end so that it moves slowly between a two now if you don't know what the fractal noise is it's a randomly generated noise effect that can be pretty useful for visual effects because it's random it's just a pattern so you can mess around this and looks pretty cool next I've just got this piece of text quite simple and I've also got a gray layer on top of that which just has to glow effects one which has a small radius and one which has a bigger radius combined they make a nice glow now I've also got a gray layer here with a bunch of grades I've just got an order light flares then I've got two curves to add color and contrast levels histogram to bring up those blacks and some graying although of course everything here is optional and now I'm just going to show you guys a really cool effect called the parallax effect create a new grade layer I'm just going to create it above all of these layers but not above the grade and I'm just going to drag the parallax effect on it and well the parallax effect does is that extrude things based on its luminance so let's just hide this grade layer and you can really see the parallax effect in action if we go to the edges here we can see that all the dark areas have not been moved much but all the lighter bits have been pushed in this is not just in the edges it's been done throughout the entire image and you can see these white text bits have also been pushed in so if we just go sorry not into the gray layer but if we go into the parallax effect right here we can increase the depth to really push this effect to its maximum and we can see what's effective now we can also invert it so that all the white bits are pushed out it's extrude the text outwards and it makes it look 3d in another way you can also blur the map if we don't want it to be so sharp now with the height map when it's selected to be none the height map will just be the image that it's being applied to right here but if you left a custom height map for example just the text then it will extrude it just with this text so it says wipe it's in this text layer then it will extrude them outwards and because the rest of it is transparent it extrudes it back in now that you know the parallax effect does I'm just going to mess around with it to create some cool effects so I'm just going to make sure the height map is the text I'm going to set the depth to be maximum and going to make it so it's not inverted I'm just going to duplicate this effect I'm going to set the height map to be none and then I'm just going to duplicate it one more time and you can see here that these fractal noise these clouds look really 3d and it looks pretty cool I'm just going to add the gray layer and we can see we've got this really nice Atmospheric lorry kind of text in the middle of clouds which is a really cool effect now because of the parallax effect it looks kind of like it's inside the clouds rather than just something sitting on top of it and that's kind of the effect that I was going for so that's the parallax effect of course there are two other effects that I'm going to show you so let's get into that here we've got to put similar scene just going to go through it layer by layer again we've got the same fractal noise it's pretty much the same except that one of the colors the lighter color has been changed from white to a mid gray and then I've got a text layer and then I've got the same text layer but with a neon glow right and I've just got a gray layer to attach some colors so the next effect that we're going to be looking at is the caustics effect so I'm just going to create a new gray layer and you can just set up for the core sticks and just drag onto that gray layer and you can see it does some pretty weird reflective stuff the purpose of the caustics layer is to try and make your scene look like it's being looked at through water and that's a pretty cool effect if you mess around with these you can find something that you like but now I'm just going to go with some settings that I've messed around with before the recording of this video I'm just going to set the depth to be 200 and the refractive index to be 2 now as you can see this doesn't look particularly magical it looks alright but the text is quite hard to read and you can see these edges here it's not too pretty so I'm just going to show this layer again and that magic going to add a new gray layer above this and I'm just going to drag the korsak's layer on that and you can see here we've got some really interesting effects now I'm going to set the depth to be 225 and the refractive index to be 2 and we've got this really cool reflective look kind of looks like it's glass or like the service of water and that makes for a pretty cool effect when we add our colors my opinion looks even cooler looks like some kind of flaky gold of course you can mess around with these settings however much you want you can copy my settings directly if you really want to but you know it's just for some ideas to create some really cool creative effects now the third effect which I haven't seen many people use is the chrome inator now it's a bit of a weird effect and it's kind of hard to use on the text itself so I'm just going to use it on the background here I've got something which is pretty much identical to the first composite shot here got the background with the fractal noise moving up we've got some text and we've got the same grade I'm just going to create a new grade layer now I'm going to drag it just above the background I'm going to add the chrome inator effect now the chrome Lyoto effect kind of makes it look like it's what chrome or liquid metal is the way I like to think about it because it looks kind of like a terminator but it kind of turns your background or whatever you choose into a chrome kind of look kind of like liquid metal and you can mess around with the detail and all of this stuff to get the look that you like and it doesn't end there either you can go ahead and combine some of the effects that we've learnt in this video such as the parallax effect and it still looks pretty cool and so there you guys have it some really cool effects inside a tip film with which you can create some pretty cool titling now of course there are a whole bunch of other effects in hitfilm but some of the ones that I recommend to just try out are lots of these in the distort bulged kind of just boulders your image and you've seen video game high school this is the effects that they've used for when they kill characters inside the video games so that's pretty cool as well so thank you guys for watching this video I hope you enjoyed thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video as always stay shiny bye [Music]
