Create Clickable Table of Contents in PDF

welcome back to the official PDF element YouTube channel my name is George and today I'll show you how to create a clickable table of contents for your PDF documents perfect for making reports ebooks or any long documents easier to navigate so let's begin this search report consists of 28 pages and includes several distinct sections such as the abstract introduction research method key points of the report discussion and appendix locating specific information within this can be quite challenging this is where a clickable table of contents can come in very handy a clickable table of contents lets you jump to different sections in the PDF quickly this makes reading and navigating the document much easier especially when you're handling longer documents first I'll show you how to create a clickable table of content automatically open the lengthy report in PDF element and you'll find the auto bookmarks option Under The View tab alternatively the bookmarks icon is located on the left sidebar which also includes an auto bookmarks button press it to automatically create bookmarks for each important section think of bookmarks as small Flags indicating where each part begins at the bookmark panel you'll see an options button find the create a Content page from bookmarks button click this and a table of contents will be added to the first page of the report it's immediately clickable this means you can click on any part of the table of contents and it will take you straight to that part in the PDF however the title of the first part is incorrect it should be abstract also the report includes various statistical tables that I want to include in the table of contents moreover the font size is too large I would prefer the table of contents to be more compact to achieve this we move on to the second part editing our table of contents to change the title of the first section navigate to the bookmarks panel right click on the bookmark and choose rename and enter the correct title for your needs to include these statistical tables in the bookmarks first locate the table take the first table as an example it is in the abstract section right click on the abstract bookmark select add sub bookmark and then enter the name of the table the same process applies to the rest of the tables now the bookmarks are completed to make the table of contents more Compact and prominent open the bookmark property settings where you can change the bookmarks and font appearance I mainly edit the font size and color ensure you apply these changes to the table of contents before creating the new table of contents don't forget to go to the organized view to delete the previous table this ensures the p page numbers are accurate for the new one return to the options panel to create the content page again now the first section title is correct the research tables are included and the content page is both Compact and stands out and that's how you can automatically create a clickable table of content in your PDFs thank you for staying with me until the end of this video If this video was helpful to you I'd appreciate it if you could like this video And subscribe to this Channel and I'll continue bringing you many more videos with tips and tricks to make your work easier you can take a look at the rest of the videos on this channel and there you will find many more videos just like this have a great day and see you next time
