in this video i'm going to show you how to create beautiful animated gifs like this one and these are the ones we use regularly on the community post of our youtube channel let's go what's going on everyone my name is ronnie welcome back to our channel and woo boy oh boy there's a lot of good stuff happening in the channel at the moment we recently passed the 150 000 subscribers so first of all thank you so much for being such a faithful fan of the channel of our content and yeah let's continue growing together like we help you grow as a canva designer you help us grow as youtubers and it's a win-win all right cool today we are jumping straight into canva and we are going to design one of our kind of signature community post animated gifs like the one you are seeing right now behind me all right so we are going to create this one from scratch and let me quickly jump into canva to show you the behind the scene of this design of this visual so you see a couple of things going on we have a video background you can play it so you see it plays we have some animated numbers here we have the text which is also going to be animated with an animation then we have the bitmojis and yeah that's pretty much what there is to it i'm going to reproduce this one from scratch so in another design so yeah let's go ahead and do this okay so we are going to start from the canva homepage nothing fancy about this and because i know i want the square so one by one aspect ratio i could start with an instagram post so 1080 by 1080 pixel but because animated gifs tend to be a little bit lower resolution when exported i want to double the size of that typical instagram post and make it 2160 by 2160 so i'm going to create a custom design so using the create a design and i'm gonna go custom okay so 2160 by 2160 yes create that design please canva there we go we have the canvas okay so the first thing we are going to do is to search for this video background that looks so beautiful okay so for that i'm going to go to my elements tab okay always start from the elements tab it is right here that would be easy now right because it's one of my recently used elements but i want to show you how i found it so i actually searched and used a search bar and i typed in gradients or radial gradient or something like this i think this is how i started my search and then of course i filtered for videos because you will see mixed results from photos graphics and videos i want to filter by videos okay and also i want to give you guys a heads up i'm using my canva pro account right here everything i'm going to show you in this tutorial except from the background remover and some of the pro or premium elements that will not be available for free users otherwise everything else is going to be easy to reproduce even though you don't have a canva pro account it's just that you have more choice with canva pro and since i have my canva pro account right here and then that's what i'm using on a day-to-day basis that's what i'm going to be using for this tutorial so you will have obviously less choices in terms of video backgrounds but you can go with some other types of backgrounds or you can maybe find some free backgrounds as well on some other websites or other stock libraries and then import them into canva if you cannot find what you are looking for in the library but for me so this is how i started see and the background i use is very similar to this one okay so i'm going to search by clicking on the three little dots here i'm going to get a bit more info so i can maybe refine my search and find it radially shining particles i'm going to retype this into canva radially shining shining particles i'm going to type that in and hopefully i will find my visual yes right here okay so i'm gonna click on it it's going to load on my design page but what i want to do is to insert that video into a frame i could very well stretch this and make it my background but i kind of want more control over this so i'm going to go back to my elements by clearing this search okay elements scrolling down a bit and i will find the grids here i use grids all the time when i want to insert either a visual or like a photo or a video into my background because this gives me more control over this like this element i can move it easily and if it was basically snapped into my background i could not move it easily like so so yeah i prefer to use them in the grid also if you double click you can resize it's really up to you i'm going to leave it like so so done okay so i have my background the next step would be to bring on these bitmojis that i was using so let's come back to the original design so i can show you i have two bitmojis here i have diana and i have myself and these are actually part of the same bitmoji i took them from this bitmoji right here you see oh and one more thing i want to teach you is that when you have a visual and you kind of move it around like over a grid it tends to snap into that grid or that frame if you don't want it to snap into it you can hold your command key on your keyboard or your control key and then it won't snap but you need to kind of hold that key down otherwise if i release it then it snaps again but if it snaps no worries just click on the control or command key and it will unsnap from your background another way of doing it you click on your grid and you lock it so you can use the lock button right here to kind of lock your background and now this element is not going to snap into it but what i wanted to show you is that this bitmoji is actually a friend emoji so for those of you who don't know what friend emojis are let me show you this page right here from the bitmoji support center so set up friendmoji on the bitmoji app so friendmojis are a fun way to use bitmojis together with your friends or with contacts that you might have it will need to happen on your phone so the way it works you will need to first connect your snapchat account with your friends so your friend emojis so it happens there then once you have it what you will be able to do is to have these two friends right here i have diana and ed from canva and when you click on these buttons what you can do actually is to pretty much have friend emojis so that they are bitmojis together with your friends so this is how i found this bitmoji with both diana and i inside of it i will share the link to this friendmoji support center so that you can understand how to connect your other contacts or friends to your bitmoji so that you can use them but it won't happen in canva it will happen in your bitmoji app on your phone but then from there it's super easy to grab that visual send it to your computer and then you can use it in canva so that's a little trick of how i actually managed to get a bitmoji with diana right here i'm gonna delete this and come back to my under construction project right here so the next step is indeed to import that bit mode it's still here in my upload so i'm going to import it i'm going to lock this background as well so that it doesn't snap into it perfect and now what i did is to actually split this bitmoji into two so i copied it ctrl c ctrl v okay i'm gonna keep one here and the other one here what i did is that i reduced the size of this and i tried to isolate just ronnie and just diana so i have both ronnie and diana on the other side so in order to do this what i did let me add another page and bring this bitmoji here so we see what's happening actually so what i did is that i ran the background remover on this bitmoji so by selecting it edit image and the background remover is a pro feature it's kind of like my favorite pro feature actually so i'm gonna run it on this bitmoji the reason i'm doing this with the background remover is that background remover will allow me to use the eraser brush see once i have run the background remover and don't get me wrong there was no background on this bitmoji but what i really wanted to access was this eraser tool eraser brush right here so i'm going to use this to actually erase the part of the bitmoji that i don't want to see so i can isolate ronnie here so like so so first using a precise brush and then i'm gonna bump the size of this brush so i can really go and erase the rest easily okay so i'm good with this i'm gonna crop it like so so i don't think this is going to be an issue just can erase a little bit of diana here like so actually you know what let's erase everything okay so now i just have ronnie here i'm gonna click on done and there you go i have my first bitmoji right here can cut it like so perfect so that's the first one let's bring on the second bitmoji here or let's take care of diana's side same thing i'm gonna click on it run the background remover and then use the erase tool and this time i will do the same but on this side so i'm going to delete this text right here without and i can zoom in if i want to be a little bit more precise yes just make sure i'm deleting this part right here like so perfect and i can zoom out i will delete everything else there you go we have everything here done just going to snap this resize it like so okay now i have my 2-bit emojis they look good what i can do is to bring them back to this design right here okay so i have that but the bottom of them is slightly cropped right so i'm going to use them both together and resize them at the same time so i keep the ratio between each of these bitmojis and now i'm just going to try to position them in such a way that let me zoom in so we can see what's going on here you see diana's like lower part here i want her to be kind of like showing the thumbs up like so but i don't want to see that it's actually cut in a weird way and then ronnie can be like that this looks good the positioning looks on point on these two what i can do is to maybe center them i'm gonna group them position center and then maybe it's a little bit too much on this side so with my keyboard arrow i'm just moving them back to the right a little bit so now they look good let me zoom back in i'd love to see the entire design here so i'm going to use my zoom command and use fit so i can see the entire canvas so this is good let me ungroup them and then one more thing i did with these bitmojis i used the shadow effect to have a glow around them okay so again by selecting one of them use the edit image and this time i'm not gonna use the background remover i'm gonna search for the shadows and my glow effect okay there you go and then i'm gonna click a second time to access my options my settings here okay so in terms of size i'm gonna go for 20. yep transparency i'm gonna go for a hundred color obviously i'm not gonna go for black but i'm going to go for white like so yep looks good and the blur i'm gonna go for 10. so 20 10. looks good i'm gonna apply this perfect now i obviously need to apply the same glow effect or shadow glow effect to diana let me see if i use the copy style button if i can do that no that's too bad that would be wonderful if i could have applied all of these settings at once so no worries i'm gonna go edit image shadows glow settings and that was i love that i can manually enter my numbers here so 100 and then this was 10 and this was white perfect apply okay all right my bitmojis are now ready with a nice glow around them let's continue building this animated gif all right let's have a quick look at our original design right here to see what's missing so we are missing the animated numbers and the text right underneath that says subscribers okay it's kind of in a regular shape so let's go ahead and create these missing elements first the numbers okay so if i go back to my elements and i search for a numbers or number set number set and i'm going to filter this using the filter button right here i want this to be animated apply filter and filter that search for graphics okay so this is what i am looking for so i see these numbers right here they are moving actually all these numbers are moving but i like these ones so i need to write 150 so for that i need a one i can do this i can click on the three little dots and i want canva to show me more like this okay so i have all of these numbers i can see they exist in black as well so that's pretty cool i'm going to use the white ones and they also exist in kind of an outline type of look but i'm gonna go for the classic look okay so one let's see the entire collection again here i don't know why i closed it five and zero one five zero let's select the three of them and resize them all at the same time this is a real time saver if you resize your elements like so that you import like numbers or icons you want them to be exactly at the same size import them all and then select them all and then resize them all at the same time it's a trick that i use all the time in canva it will save you a bunch of time and it will make sure they are actually resized exactly at the same size which is important if you want to be precise with alignment and size on your design so something like that let me select all of them and now what i want is to evenly space these three numbers horizontally so i select them all use the position button and go to my horizontal space evenly horizontally like so now canva puts the same amount of space in between each of these numbers i still need a little k somewhere so i'm going to reduce the size of this animation slightly i'm going to center it for now but it's probably going to move slightly to the left because the k will kind of like offset them a little bit okay so let me find okay so for that i'm gonna go to my text box i'm gonna use this font right here and see how it looks there's okay let me bring it here yeah it doesn't look that nice with that font so i'm gonna try different fonts maybe peace sauce yeah something bolder not exactly let's see this yeah this could work so it's really a question of taste at this stage like which font do you prefer for this little k right here i'm gonna use that and now like i was saying i'm gonna select all of them and try to center that again like i'm not gonna snap it exactly at the middle i just want the illusion that it is centered and sometimes using your eyes is actually better especially when you do stuff like that when you add a little element that might offset your design i don't always use the alignment options in canva you see it seems like there's more space between the zero and the five so i'm just gonna going to select it and then with my keyboard arrow just try to bring it a bit closer and i know i spaced them out evenly with the button but still like it seems sometimes the animations are made in such a way that it might look like so so yeah it's really a question of like doing it make it feel right all right i have this animation going on it looks nice i'm gonna group this stuff so selecting everything here then finding my group button yeah it is grouped and all i have to do now is to create the last part of this design which is the irregular shape and the text that says subscribers first i'm going to write subscribers in this font montserrat semi-bold okay subscribers okay this looks good probably need this bigger but not too big maybe 110 let's center that like so and now i need my shape so you can either go for elements clear this and clear this and go for irregular shape so that's one way of going me and my team we actually use some custom shapes uh that our designer has designed for us so i'm gonna go ahead and use these so you won't find these in canva but if you do have the luxury of having someone who can or if you can do it yourself like create some custom shapes then i highly recommend you use these graphics this will set you apart from everybody else because nobody else will have that and we like to kind of do this in this channel and with our brand our content to have a few things that sets us apart i think it's always good when you're building your brand so i'm gonna change the color of this to a gold color like warmer color like this that will pop that will kind of cut through the rest of the design i'm gonna push this backwards so now i have my subscribers here let's give this a black color okay looks good and i'm gonna tilt it one degree only okay this looks pretty good i'm gonna take these two and give a little bit more space okay i think we have a winner this is pretty much the entire design i'm gonna reduce the size of this text slightly so 105 yes looks good make sure it is centered the last thing i need to do is to animate this one text right here this one text box so i'm going to animate that by using the animate button and i think i used the burst subscribers the bounce don't remember exactly which one i used on my original design i think it was the burst yes it's burst but the timing for this animation is a little bit too long so i'm gonna unlock this background right here so what i want here is to download this design as an animated gif that i will upload on the community post on youtube and i know that the file size limit to upload something a visual on youtube's community tab is 16 megabytes so i cannot have a file that is going to be larger than 16 megabytes so knowing that i probably have to reduce the time of this video which is 10 seconds i don't need 10 seconds probably gonna lead only maybe 1.5 one point let's say 1.5 seconds yeah that's enough and now i can see here my animation with the burst yeah it's much faster because it's basically the same amount of time of my video background and i reduce that from 10 seconds to 1.5 seconds so now this animation is much faster okay so i think we are pretty much done with the visual i'm going to export it as a gif and then we'll see how it [Music] looks all right so to export this design into a gif i'm going to simply head over the download button right here just be aware here that if you want to post that on the community tab on youtube you shouldn't download this is an mp4 video because you won't be able to upload that in the community tab so what you need here for the youtube community tab is a gif all right so i'm going to click on this and make sure i'm selecting the gif right here also pages page two there's nothing on page two so i'm just gonna go ahead and delete page two so again download select gif yep and i'm just going to download this so now canva is gonna work his magic download this as a gif should show on my computer in a couple of seconds okay my gift is exported i can see here you've got your design all right so i'm gonna close that window find this show that in my finder and this is how it looks so you can see the background is playing it's a loop like a 1.5 second loop then i have my subscribers with the burst effect and i have my kind of bumping numbers like breathing numbers so this is perfect and it's ready to upload on youtube all right guys it is now your turn diana and i really want to see your design skills we figured you know we teach you guys on this channel but we want to see we want to accompany you in the learning process and the only way to do this is if you show us that you can recreate or be creative based on what we taught you so the challenge for this week is that you will after watching this tutorial you will try your very own animated gif and post it in our facebook group learn to design with canva so there will be a link in the description of this video to the facebook group just go there if you're not yet a member become a member and then show us your design and use the hashtag teamrandi okay so create your design post it in the facebook community use the hashtag teamrandy okay and we will have a look we will give you some feedback the community will give you some feedback and this is just a fun way to learn and grow together as designers alright thank you for watching this tutorial until the end if you liked it smash the like button you know the drill and i will see you in the next video
