hey guys and welcome back I'm Sam crack and no contrary to the comments section and rumors I did not give up on the Ferrari I get it with everyone in their grandmother rebuilding cars at this point it's probably pretty easy to get me confused with another rebuild channel that doesn't finish their projects hold my foxy oh but I finish all my projects let me rephrase that all of my projects get finished now that I'm home from working on the Lamborghini build it's time to get back to work on the Ferrari 360 and get it sorted out but first I have to check if rich is posted a video update yet on his flooded p85d been waiting an eternity to see if he can get this car up and running and not oh yes still nothing yet I am really excited to be back working on the Ferrari 360 there is a lot of new information I've got on this car and we are extremely close to fixing our electrical issue I'm going to fill you in on all of that in just a moment but you probably notice a few things first so this cars up off the ground it's also back on those ugly black wheels and tires and that is simply because number one we have started our interior floor repairs I'm going to show you that as well in a minute and number two I put it back on these black wheels and tires because if you look in the previous video these wheels they were just on using hardware store bolts the wheels that are on the car now those have a completely different lug nut than the Ferrari OEM wheels and these OEM wheels not only require a pretty lengthy bolt they also require like a ball head you can order an aftermarket titanium set of lug nuts get this for a Ferrari for around a thousand bucks a use set goes somewhere around a hundred and fifty dollars for lug nuts and used about 30 bucks a piece for Ferrari lug nuts sounds crazy right so on this car someone also sent me a stat sheet of when these cars were built and this is one of I think two Ferrari 360s that was ever produced in British racing green someone correct me down below maybe it's the one of two 2004's but I'm pretty sure it's one of two and it's one of one in British racing green with a black interior and that makes this car a pretty rare example although I've never been of the mindset that a car is worth a ton more because of just its color combination they produced a ton these 360s now right here you'll notice that the gasket has been pulled up on our windshield trim and that's because the guys over at safe light came out and inspected our cracked windshield they'll also be the ones coming out to replace this windshield and obviously you guys remember our damage to the hood this hood likely popped up at some point damaging the windshield this is a fairly expensive windshield in the job according to the guys at safe light is a little bit more difficult than your standard windshield but I really like using them because they don't pry against the pillars that's the last thing we need is more paint or body work to be done on this car and they said they're gonna clean up all this gross stuff they said it's gonna take a little bit longer again then a standard windshield replacement it's gonna take two guys instead of one this time but that should be a pretty awesome procedure to watch so I can't wait to get that done now coming around in the interior I have all the electronics torn apart down there behind the driver seat here let me get some light on it and I'll give you a better look that is much better this is the house for our mobilizers the immobilizers which I have ripped out of the car if you remember our problem is that when you try to start this car for the first time after connecting the battery it will start just fine but the second time is when it decides to run rough misfire has a rough idle just all the lights come up on the dashboard and you guys in the comments section overwhelmingly have been pointing your finger at the immobilizer and personally I don't think that's the problem but the reason I removed those immobilizers as well as removing the ECU's which I'll show you here in the engine bay is that I've sent all them out to a company to be tested how we lucked out because the shop that diagnosis these Ferrari ECU's happens to be in the same state as me there's several ourself but I think it'd be worth the trip to actually go and visit them and find out how they diagnose these ECU's and figure out what exactly our problem is with the car I think it would make for a really good video if you agree let me know in the comment section below now let me take you in the back and the engine bay where I took out those ECU's and show you something kind of weird that I found in a previous video when I talked about the engine control modules I said they were located behind the seats in the cabin and that is incorrect they're located on each side of the engine bay or left one right here are right one right there now all you're gonna see is the wiring harnesses for these computers because I've already removed them like I told you and sent them in with those immobilizers but when I had them in my hands I took one side the left hand side module apart just to see if it was something that could be repaired when it comes to circuit boards in general sometimes there are obvious things that will cause a problem in them like a blown capacitor may be a bad solder joint and a handful of other things that you can usually visually see by just looking at a circuit board so I took the left hand ECU here and I put a heat gun to it and took the plastic cover off of it and that was a big mistake you see when I did that I found this gel coating over the circuit board those are there to keep things tamper proof and I'm guessing because these are located in the engine bay it also keeps moisture away I try and stay with me here the way the ECU is working this car is very complicated you got your left hand side which is your slave your right hand side is your master technically on the same car you can swap these computers all you want the car should operate just fine but when you swap the left hand side over to the right hand side you make another master module meaning if you try and plug them in any other car on either side it won't work but if you keep the left hand side this slave you are able to then go ahead and swap that into any other car so technically if my bad module is on either side of this car I could buy one more used module out of any other car I think maybe it has to have the same transmission and plug it in here and it should work again if our problem is indeed one of the ECU's even if it's them a master ECU that needs to be replaced I can move the left-hand one to the right side and then put the replacement one in the left-hand side again given that it is a left-hand side from another car I know it's really complicated and that's why I decided just to send them in because the programmers cannot only reprogram these modules if it's a master they can make it slave again they can do all sorts of different things so it just seems a lot simpler and it really doesn't cost much more than ordering a new use replacement part besides the negligible cost difference this should save us a lot in time and frustration because a lot of the used ECU's being offered online aren't designated a left hand or a right hand there just selling you one as a part number in these cars again with the same modules that's just that one becomes the master when it's plugged in that right hand side should come with the same part numbers and that's what's so weird about when I remove the modules from this car they had two differing part numbers someone also wrote with permanent marker LH on one side meaning left hand someone also wrote are on the other side meaning right I'm pretty sure that these have been messed with before so who knows maybe one of them has already been replaced and it's time for the next one to be replaced maybe by replacing one with the wrong module it screwed things up this seems fishy to me so be interesting to see what the diagnosis company has to say about that when we go over to the passenger seat we've got a jumbled mess of wires and stuff let me actually take you back a few days when a good friend of mine who's also pretty talented in the body Department stopped by and gave me some advice on how we should go about fixing this and also provided a little bit of help to get me started now I originally wanted to weld this area up before I knew that it was that close to the firewall and close to all these electrical wiring harnesses the HVAC system all these plastics stuff that would be extremely difficult to replace and expensive to repair so I reached out to a good friend of mine check out who's here hey you think we can get this done without any welding I got my Ferrari certified hammer right here we're gonna beat it all out and probably panel bond it back up alright let's beat it before you wonder there is a jack stand under there what are we doing alright alright I think what are we doing well we're gonna get this nice and flat underneath like this okay here let me get under there when we're hitting the top is not just bouncing back yeah I'm gonna try and get in the center of this alright so with that block of wood underneath our damage I'm guessing that when you hammer it it's just not gonna sink in he's just gonna be like a dolly setup and we're hammering it it's not just gonna flimsy and Bend all right you can see through the car this is a holey Ferrari man this guy thinks of everything you got a bungee cord got a heat gun heat gun will allow us to heat up all that aluminum without touching the floor on fire with a torch because there is some undercoating under there you look at how much room there is to work and the bungee cord got all of our wiring harnesses out of the way look at how clean everything looks down there now so v2 is just gonna heat this up and looks like it should come out this is unsafe it's just a blow dryer I mean look at this dudes hair how do you think you got that hair so we are almost there V what's left man just a little bit more work to do but I'm gonna leave it up to Sam I'm going to the beach vtune offered to stay and help me complete the repairs on the underside of the car but I really wanted him to actually get out have some fun and enjoy the beach while he was in town and he gave me the best advice on how we're gonna go about fixing this so basically from the underside of the car we are going to go and we are going to buy a very thin sheet of aluminum we're gonna grind off the undercoating that's on the car now all this black stuff you see this is like a rubberized undercoating and that needs to be cleaned off so that we can then panel bond that piece of aluminum in place now we're not only just gonna keep it in place with panel bond even though that stuff holds pretty good we're gonna rivet it up as well we'll grind things down smooth one more time and then we'll paint it back with that undercoating you should barely even see it from the top we'll make sure everything is also sealed inside the battery compartment area with some more of that panel bond and that way we won't make any mess welding anything we won't fry any more electronics or melt through any electronics because with welding that generates a lot of heat and it does put all of our HVAC plastics and wiring in danger if our current mechanical issue can be attributed to those ECU's while the majority of the rebuild from there will be downhill besides the paint bodywork that we've discussed in the past this car has been mechanically neglected and really just needs general service items but general service items on a Ferrari also seem to be very expensive one of the failure points of a car that's been neglected is the timing belt and there's no service history whatsoever of a timing belt ever being replaced on this car and remember this is 15 years old so if you're driving at 8,000 rpms and one of whom decides to let loose it's gonna be a bad day and you're gonna have a very expensive paperweight on your hands and depending on how much mechanical help this car needs it might make or break the deal we got at the auction but given that we bought it so cheap we've got a lot of room before we become upside down in this car if you're excited to come along on the cheap Ferrari journey with me be sure to hit that like button also if you're not already following me on instagram well i'll post some pictures of the ferrari as we continue to tear it down and see what condition it's in and also pictures of the lamborghini rebuild project as we're getting it prepared for paint be sure to just go right here click the link in the description box below I want to thank each and every one of you for watching today and I'll catch you very soon [Music]
