the main reason I bought this Ferrari was the fact that it was really cheap but as it's been ridden a million times in the comments section and as I've learned firsthand there's nothing more expensive than a cheap Ferrari besides it being a mechanical disaster the previous owners bawled out in this thing it came with big 20-inch wheels in the aftermarket stereo by Johnny Blaze and a sizeable dent in the floorboards when I first went through it I thought it might just need its hood repaired and repainted a quick bumper touch-up and a new windshield which was destroyed by the hood smashing into it the windshield replacement welp that was the easy part that's because I got safe light on the job now this Ferraris current windshield is a disaster and that's not just because it's cracked if you look it has a thick generic seal that was hanging off the glass and that's because it's had its windshield replaced at least once before this isn't how it came from the factory you see I'm the replacement windshield that safely brought me this is an original Ferrari piece with the seal installed on the glass itself behind the old seal was caked on epoxy everywhere like all other work performed on this car before I got it it was just plain sloppy one of the huge reasons I trust safe light is that they're one of the only glass services I've seen that uses this really cool easy wire system which uses a soft but really strong piece of wire to cut the glass out of place so no prying tools ever touch the pane in the car [Music] and Wayne the install tech who you might remember because he also did the windchill my Audi r8 was even careful enough to avoid radda Rosa who was totally in his way speaking a router oh so while the wind chill was out he took the sticky AC vent trim and cleaned him up so they look brand new [Music] make sure there's a perfect seal the frame is swept and cleaned multiple times as is the brand-new glass before it receives one clean uniform bead of epoxy [Music] it doesn't have to be a Ferrari or an Audi safelight uses the same techniques as if they were replacing glass on my Ford Fiesta and that was the first car that I ever rebuilt it did come with crack glass and if I remember right I think the entire cost installed for new glass on that car through safe light was like two hundred and fifty dollars if you think about it trying to source the glass the materials and the tools to do the job yourself and then you're messing around with glass which is pretty easy to mess up if you're not experienced it doesn't make any sense just make sure you consider safe light when it comes to getting any sort of glass replaced or repaired on your car they're by far the best after replacing the windshield sorting the car mechanically with radder oh the ugly rims with stock ones and repairing the hood it became apparent that the rest of the paint was so dingy that a Polish wasn't going to bring it back to life and we need a full respray now when I originally bought half a pint of base coat at the paint store it was $70 again that's for a half of pine so I was expecting a big bill here just in base coat but the store rep suggested that I buy their standard base coat which was the same brand name but a way better price at $60 a quart I bought three quarts so that cost a hundred and eighty dollars now to keep costs low I recommend never buying any sort of prep materials at the paint store they're marked up pretty high i buy all of mine online at eastwood I got everything we need from the clear coat to the spot fill for under $300 now I have sand papers and primers some other materials left over from other projects but all the supplies necessary for this job came in right around $500 and of course I have most the tools we need here but even if you had to buy the paint gun and a good-enough compressor you'd still be likely well under the several thousands of dollars this would cost at a professional paint shop to spray the entire Ferrari now there are certain jobs specifically on certain cars I would prefer done at a pro shop but this Ferrari has been my bargain-basement project since the beginning and I want to keep the theme here now obviously I want the job done really well here so I asked the help of my friend Zach he's not actually a professional painter but enjoys paint and bodywork as a hobby and his work is pretty top-notch when I brought Zach all the materials in the car I only brought him one additional tool and that was Eastwood Elite Series paint gun this is what they recommended to get the most professional finish out of all the guns they offer now this Ferrari has come quite a long way from it's shaky past all zach has to do here is nail this paint job not only will it run like new it will look like new no pressure here Zac let's see what you got this is the front driver side fender as you can see right here it's all like peeled back and that's because the old the old owners rims were way too big and it would rub it bent all those back same thing with the other side it's not near as bad but it's still there yeah over here that's the image and also the side skirt got scraped on it you see underneath we're gonna go ahead and fix that up too and then we're gonna go ahead and paint everything [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right I'm gonna go ahead and sand down these parts I fixed yesterday I'm gonna stain him down with 400 and then go over them with a 600 and that should be fine with that and then I'm gonna go over the whole car with 800 [Music] [Music] hi everything is prepped and ready to go I sprayed degreaser all over it and clean it all up next I'm gonna go ahead and put a tack cloth on it get all the little bits of trash that are still floating on it and then I can go ahead and start painting hopefully it comes out well all right we got everything painted that needs to be painted the mirrors are over there bumpers you have front bumpers on it and then like the putting the stuff is outside huh doesn't mean painted but the this back hatch thing that goes over the convertible top that had to be painted separately so couldn't fit in here but everything is painted I'm gonna go ahead and buff everything out just cuz it has a little bit of orange peel in certain places nothing too major cue the time lapse of me buffing everything [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I'm busy [Music] wait [Music] [Music] [Music] I think the video speaks for itself let me know down in the comment section below which you think of the Ferraris fresh respray all the credit here goes to Zack the time and detail you spent on the prep work made the final result incredible a Ferraris almost finished but we got to take care of a couple of things specifically the dingy looking brake calipers and we've got to reassemble our interior with all-new replacement OEM panels and then of course we've got to take it on a drive with the top drop make sure you guys follow Zacks channel over at ultimate rebuild I'll drop a link in the description box for you and I'd like to thank each and every one of you for watching today I'll catch you very soon [Music] you
