Converting A PDF Portfolio Into A PDF Binder

in this video we will demonstrate step-by-step instructions for converting a pdf portfolio containing multiple documents into a single pdf file while preserving active digital signatures after the files are converted please note that you will need adobe acrobat pro to perform this task it cannot be completed using only adobe acrobat reader while there are multiple methods of combining files into a secure pdf document the steps in this example will ensure your pdf documents will be prepared properly this method will demonstrate how to print the documents to pdf from a portfolio and combine the separate pdf files into one single pdf file referred to as a binder we will also demonstrate how to combine the original pdf files or documents into one pdf portfolio a pdf portfolio can contain multiple separate files however a pdf portfolio cannot be uploaded to a database without error to see the separate files in a pdf portfolio displayed to the left of the navigation pane go to the menu bar and click view portfolio layout once the documents of the pdf portfolio are displayed right click in a blank space in the folder pane and click select all [Music] this will select all files saved to the pdf portfolio alternatively you may hold the control button and select only the files in the portfolio that you wish to convert to a single pdf file [Music] once the separate files are selected go to the document menu bar and click file print after the print window opens select adobe pdf as the printer check the radio button selected pdf files in the pages to print panel be sure to select document and markups in the comments in forms drop-down menu click print [Music] this will convert each individual files selected into a separate printed pdf file after clicking the print button you will be prompted to save the files to your computer we recommend that you create a new folder labeled with the name of the document in order to save the documents to that folder after they have been printed to a pdf click save for each document in the portfolio [Music] after the documents have been printed and show a status of success click ok the printed pdf files will open individually in separate windows after they are successfully printed the documents will be static pdf files which will be locked and cannot be edited directly after they are printed to pdf but in this format the individual documents can now be combined into a single pdf file without affecting the signature to complete the final step to combine the individual files into a single pdf file go to the menu bar in adobe acrobat pro dc navigate to file create combine files into a single pdf this will take you to the combine file function in adobe acrobat pro before combining the documents into a single pdf file verify that the combined file settings are set to create a single pdf file and not another pdf portfolio click the options gear at the top of the menu bar before proceeding with combining the pdf verify the following options are set under file size in the options panel be sure that the smaller file size icon is selected and verify that the save as pdf portfolio option is not checked then click ok click the add files link at the top of the toolbar then click the add files sub-link or click the add files button in the center of the page both methods listed above will allow you to select the individual files that you would like to combine into a single pdf file the add files window should now open navigate to the location whether separate individual files were previously saved after navigating to the folder containing the files use the control button to select all the files that you would like to combine into a single pdf file then click open these files will now be added to the combine files panel before combining the files you have the option to rearrange the order of the documents after the files are combined by dragging the files up or down any order that you prefer or by using the move up or move down buttons on the toolbar to rearrange the files before combining them after arranging the documents in the order that you prefer you will now be able to combine the documents into a single file on the toolbar click the combine button [Music] after clicking the combine button the documents will be combined into a new pdf file and will open in a new window listed with the file name binder please note after the new pdf file is created it is important that you save the document using a new file name before closing the document if you close the newly combined pdf file before saving the file will be permanently deleted and you will have to repeat the combined steps again on the menu bar click file save as input a new file name click save [Music] after inputting the new file name and saving the document the pdf portfolio has been successfully converted to a single pdf file after completing the conversion of the pdf portfolio to a
