Hello, my name is Erin. This tutorial shows two ways to combine PDFs into one in Adobe Acrobat Pro using the 2023 interface update on both PC and Mac. Both methods can also be used to combine other types of files, such as images, Microsoft Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets with your PDFs. However, please note that non-PDF files will be converted to the PDF format once combined in Acrobat. If you are using an older version of Adobe Acrobat, please see my previous tutorials on the same topic, which are linked in the description box below.  This first method doesn’t require you to open a PDF before starting the combination process.  To begin, open Adobe Acrobat Pro. And then hover your cursor over the Create button at the top of the screen. Next, select Combine files from the menu. When the Combine Files screen appears, select the Add Files button.  Now, locate and select the files you want to combine in the Add Files dialog box.  Next, select the Open button on a PC or Add Files button on a Mac.  Finally, select the Combine button.  The combined files will open as one PDF called “Binder1” or “Binder2,” etc.  If you would like to reorganize the pages, select the Pages button to open the Pages pane. From there, you can drag the thumbnails up or down as necessary.  When you’re finished, I recommend saving the new combined PDF under a more specific name than Binder by selecting Menu followed by Save on a PC or File followed by Save on a Mac. This second method is best if you have a primary PDF to which you are adding additional PDFs or other files. To begin, open the first PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Then, right-click or Control-click the open PDF and then select Combine files from the shortcut menu.  The open PDF should now appear in the Combine files screen.  Next, select Add Files. Followed by Add Files from the drop-down menu. Once again, locate and select the files you want to combine in the Add Files dialog box, and then select the Open button on a PC or Add Files button on Mac.  And then select the Combine button.  The combined files will open as one PDF called “Binder1," "Binder2," etc. And once again select the Pages button to open the  Pages pane, where you can drag the thumbnails up or down to reorganize them as necessary. And then select the Menu button a PC or File menu on a Mac to save the new combined PDF under a more specific name than Binder.  Before we close, you may be wondering about the Combine files option in the All Tools menu.  Currently, this option opens the Combine Files screen, but it does not automatically include any open PDFs. However, you can choose to include them by selecting Add Open Files. All the steps we just performed are listed with images on my website at erinwrightwriting.com, which is linked in the description box below along with my playlist “How to Use Adobe Acrobat,” where you can find  many more step-by-step Acrobat tutorials.  Feel free to leave me a comment if there’s a specific topic that you would like me to talk about in the future.
