Confetti Applique with Linda Seward (Taster Video)

hello my name is Linda suru and I'm going to talk to you today about a technique from my book the ultimate guide to art quilting published by vi and spring this year in 2014 what I'm going to show you today is how to make this which is actually a combination of several techniques in the book I painted I colored the tree with inktense pencils and then I created confetti and I glued that on with glue granules so we're going to make a new one from start to finish in front of the camera which is going to be very interesting right I'm going to do it on a grey fabric to show you that you can have different moods depending on the background of the fabric and first of all I'm going to color it with inktense pencils which are fantastic very soft and you can heighten the color with aloe vera gel which I will show you how to do at the bottom you see all the colors so I will start with a brown now I am NOT an artist at all and so this is just me playing but I find that a tree is a very easy thing to draw and it's a wonderful natural design that you can develop so lots of branches coloring it in a little bit now I'm going to get another color brown add some highlights also make some little branches in that color so the Browns are all tied together as you can see this is you do not need any artistic leanings in order to do this here's another darker color now I'm going to try and color in the background a bit and you'll see when i add the aloe vera it will spread so it will fill it all in you
