I want to go to the book of Revelation chapter 4 for just a few moments this morning Revelation chapter 4 and after these things I looked and behold a door standing open in heaven and the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking to me saying come up here and I will show you things which must take place after this I want to talk to you for just a few moments about what what happened to John and how it should be on our minds I want to preach on come up here come up here in your mind come up here in your thinking I want your mind on heaven I want you heavenly minded come up here God saved the Prophet from a boiling pot of all they were trying to kill John in a boiling pot of all he was thrown into it and I'm sure he was scarred from head to toe from third-degree burns but God saved him and when he wouldn't burn up they pulled him out and they marooned him on an island called Pappas and on that island that voice came to him it looked bleak it looked like it was the end of the church he was one of the last few disciples who had not been martyred the rest of them all had been killed and he was the only one that was alive and here he is burned with third-degree burns isolated on an island by himself suddenly heaven opens up and says you've had a bad day you've had a bad week you've had a bad year tell you what you need to do it's not just talking to John he's talking to you you need to come on up here let me show you heavens perspective let me give you let me let you ease drop on a coming eternity that you're going to experience if you won't give up so I want to preach today about this place called heaven because in this room there are precious people who been strained and stretched emotionally by the trials of life people who have been hounded with physical pain people who have been a harassed with financial difficulty people who have been humbled by the terrible domestic family issues that are taking place in their life and listen to me Satan wants to keep our attention on our problems not on our promises we live shallow earthbound lives that's what the devil wants us to do to only focus on our troubles and our trials and he wants to smother out of you the promise from John 14 and 3 where Jesus said I go to prepare a place for you and if I go I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am there you will be also John said I looked up I saw a door in heaven and I heard a voice say come up here peer into the paradise of God it's a real place not just the state of mind heaven is not a sentimental dream heaven is not a figment of our imagination heaven is a place in my father's house are many mansions if it were not so I would have told you but he say I'm telling you this is a real place in acts 1 the angelic benediction spoken over Jesus as he's floating up ascending to heaven and the angels asked this question why are you standing here gazing disciples this same Jesus which is taken up from you shall so come in like manner 1st Thessalonians 4 puts it like this for the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of an art angel and the Trump of God will sound and the dead in Christ shall be raised first and we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together in the clouds to meet the lord in the air and so shall we be with him forever more and then he doesn't end it there he says wherefore comfort one another with these words we are commanded to comfort God knew the trials would get so heavy the burdens would get so real the the stresses of life would so overwhelming that there would come times and moments in our life when we didn't just need to view life from down here but we needed to come up higher and here comforting words and he said I command you to comfort one another with this promise I have come this morning to comfort you I don't care how bad things are I promise you they're gonna get better in a place called to heaven give the Lord a great praise if you're a believer somebody shout I want to go there don't you let the antagonists of your soul take heaven off the table the devil wants to take heaven off of our radar screen but it's mentioned 1865 times in the Old Testament and 316 times in the New Testament that tells me we ought to be talking about heaven we ought to be singing about heaven we ought to be preaching about heaven we ought to be testifying about heaven 1st Peter 1 & 4 said you should rejoice greatly that you have an inheritance that fades not away reserved in heaven wherein you are to greatly rejoice in this hopeless fulfill that scripture-less greatly rejoice that we have a reservation in a place called heaven let's let Hell know we still believe in heaven and he's not gonna take it off the table I hear well-meaning Christians sometimes say I'd serve the Lord if there was no heaven but wait a minute you don't have a right to take heaven off the table because heaven is real I'm headed somewhere we used to sing a song in the church it's called I got heaven on my mind here's how it goes these are the verses well I'm feeling mighty fine cuz I've got heaven on my mind don't you know I wanna go where the milk and honey flows there's a lot that always shines down inside this heart of mine and now I'm feeling mighty fine cuz I've got heaven on my man if you want to get to feelin mighty fine look I can't even talk about it without smiling I feel like Joel Olsteen right now come on I can't even talk about heaven without feelin mighty fine hallelujah if you want to get out of the Molly Grubbs you start getting your mind old heaven and you'll feel naughty fine hallelujah the voice that come up the word heaven means Heights elevation that which is up heaven is up Jesus came down to earth Ephesians said he descended and after he rose again he ascended because heaven is up we know that with a shout when Jesus comes back again he will descend from heaven because heaven is up and the dead in Christ shall rise first they're gonna rise up because heaven is up and we who are alive and remain shall be caught up evan is a Lucifer when he wanted to take over heaven said I will ascend because heaven is up I will ascend to the to the congregation in the North I will raise my throne above the throne of God heaven is real heaven is high and heaven is up if you could travel at the speed of light this is what they call light-years and if you could travel at the speed of light it would take you mercury is 57 million miles away and it would take you four and a half minutes to get there if you could travel at the speed of light but John said I got to heaven immediately Jupiter is 390 billion miles away and it would take you 35 minutes to get there Saturn is 793 million miles away and it would take you 1 hour and 10 minutes if you could travel at the speed of light and yet the truth is John said immediately I was in heaven immediately in the moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last Trump we shall be changed and be in heaven I'm saying to you today what Paul talked about in first Corinthians is truth the fifteenth chapter when he said behold I show you a mystery we shall not all sleep but we shall be changed in the moment in the twinkling of an eye mortal shall put on immortality and and corruption shall put on incorruption and death will be swallowed up in victory and the and the phrase insane would be fulfilled o grave where is your victory Oh death where is your sting I don't know who you buried I don't know who you've lost but I've got news for you death will be swallowed up in victory because of what Jesus did they will rise again if their faith was in Jesus Christ 1st Corinthians 15:58 said therefore be steadfast immovable always abounding in the work of the Lord for as much as you know your labor is not in vain in the Lord hallelujah in other words get heaven on your mind when things get tough when hours come and Trials come get heaven on your mind onward to the prize before us soon his beauty will behold soon those pearly gates will open we shall tread on streets of gold when we all get to heaven what a day rejoice in that would be when we all see Jesus we will sing and shout the victory how do you get off depression pills how do you how do you get out of the mullah grub's you got to get heaven on your mind you got to stop just looking at the temporal and the end and the passing and see the permanent and the eternal Jesus is coming again and we're going to a City of Gold where there is no sorrow pain tears death or dying can you say man somebody CS Lewis put it like this he said if you read history the Christians who did the most for the present world were the ones who thought most of the next world he went on to say when Christians cease to think of the other world they become ineffective in this one their minds were occupied on heaven and if we're not careful we will let the enemy of our soul do nothing but make us think about here and now and it's a trick folks it's a trick I believe that we need to be reminded of first John 3 in verse 2 it does not yet appear what we shall be but we know that when he shall appear we shall be like him for we shall see him as he is and then it goes on to say in every man who has this hope in him purifies himself I believe the reason that people don't live holy and people don't live clean lives and people just live loose and wild and crazy and half committed to God is they don't believe in Heaven and the rapture and the coming of the Lord it used to be we were afraid to do anything and you talked and put that damn sin then do grace I'm under grace - but grace doesn't give me a license to live like hell I if you to grace it ought to be changing you more and more and more into the image of Jesus Christ and I'm telling you we need to preach heaven like it's real we've let the devil take heaven off the table and nobody talks about it nobody talks about the eternal reward but one day we're gonna leave this world behind and our real reward is in another world if you never get the car the house if you have Jesus you have it all take a praise break and get heaven on your mind for just a moment it's gonna be worth it all church it's gonna be worth it all 2160 three times the Bible talks about Christ coming to get us this doctrine must be preached and the theory must be believed because he said everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself heaven is a mighty motive to purify yourself heaven is a mighty motive to say no to sin no to evil no to wrong no to drunkenness no to sexual immorality no to uncleanness and impurity why why am i doing that because heaven is real and one day I'm gonna get a crown if I fight temptation if I stand for what is right if I honor Jesus and take up my cross heaven will be my reward hallelujah heaven has fallen off our radar screen and people just live in loose and wild for here and now that's why when they get 50 they have what they call a a midlife crisis you ought to say it's a mid I'm almost there hallelujah I'm going down the hill down I'm on my way to heaven praise God they have a midlife crisis god oh my god have I still guided am I still stood am i no you're not [Music] you're going down but if you got your hope in Jesus you're going up [Applause] hallelujah let's shout like we're gonna shout on streets ago just one moment every campus at every campus this he said we're in greatly rejoiced in this hope have an inheritance that is in heaven revelation 13 and 6 tells the satanic beast says the Satanic beast opened his mouth to blaspheme three things Satan wants to slander three things to blaspheme God to slander his name and his dwelling place that's interesting to me and those who dwell in heaven our enemy slanders three things he slanders God's person he slanders God's people and he slanders God's place and the people who are going there in heaven after forcibly being evicted from heaven in Isaiah chapter 14 Satan is bitter toward God's person toward God's people and toward God's place he it must man him to know that we're entitled to the home he was kicked out on he's been to heaven we haven't he knows how wonderful it is and it drives him crazy that he's kicked out but because of the blood in the cross we're gonna take his place in heaven and so he whispers lies about the place it's not real he living for nothing for God there's no reward there's no heaven there's no halo there's nothing he whispers lies against God's person against God's people he's the accuser of the brother and against God's place live live it up when you better there's nothing coming yes it is Satan hates the new heaven and the new earth as much as a disposed dictator hates a new nation and a new government replacing him once you close your eyes everybody close your eyes at every campus watching by televisions streaming this live close your eyes I mean close them I can see if you're looking at me close your eyes I want you to envision the most beautiful place you've ever been complete with palm trees raging rivers jagged mountains waterfalls snowdrifts then I want you to envision friends coming towards you family members who love Jesus I want you to picture them with smiles on their face and you're all walking together and hugging one another together in this place all of you have powerful bodies you're laughing and playing and talking and reminiscing you're seeing one another and all of the sudden someone is coming it's Jesus he's got a big smile on his face and you fall to your knees and he pulls you up and embraces you and says well done enter in to the goodness of the Lord don't let you look at me now don't you want to stay there didn't you see you just got heaven on your mind you forgot about all your little earth with problems don't let the devil take heaven off the table it's our hope it's our hope what what's it gonna be like as I've not seen and ears have not heard revelation 21 and for said there will be no more sorrow sickness death crying or pain for God shall wipe every tear from their eyes the former things have passed away and behold all things are new I wrote down some things yesterday that will not be in heaven there will be no funeral homes in heaven because the upper takers gonna put the Undertaker's out of business there will be no hospitals there will be no divorce courts there will be no bankruptcy courts there will be no addiction centers there'll be no teen suicide there be no pornography there'll be no cancer there be no rape there'll be no missing children there'll be no drug problems there be no gangs no shootings no acts of terrorism there will be no racial tension or division there will be no prejudice there will be no injustice there'll be no misunderstanding there will be no harsh words there be no hurt feelings there'll be no gossip there be no worry there will be no rest there will be no bad habits there'll be no heart monitors there'll be no locked doors there will be no sin there will be no depression there'll be no child abuse there'll be no wars there be no emotional breakdowns there be no murders there be no trials no drama no tribulation there will be no suffering no separation no starvation no arguments no accidents no temple no Sun no moon no night there'll be no cancer Ward's there'll be no high heart diseases there be no diabetes there be no mangled limbs there be no there'll be no twisted arms there be no asthma wheezing for breath there have been a wheelchairs there'll be no crutches there no intensive care units there will be nothing but absolute perfection I'll have a new body I'll have a new name I'll have a new mansion I'll have new Jerusalem I'll have a new nature I'll drink new wine I can't do it down here but I'm gonna do it up there I'll drink you hallelujah praise God and I'm mom you gonna drink it whether you want to or not or Jesus is gonna embarrass you in go serve your water he's gonna serve you a new wine I don't know what that is but it's gonna be good and I'll sing a new song worthy is the lamb loeli loeli bullring so I wanna I want to end with telling you what will be there because John did in Revelation 21 and I'm gonna read it like I want to read it now I saw a new heaven and a new earth and the first heaven and the first earth passed away there was no more sea I saw the holy city New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God prepared as a bride adorned for her husband I heard a loud voice from heaven saying behold the tabernacle of God is with men and he will dwell with them and they shall be his people and God Himself will be their God verse 4 and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes and there'll be no more death no more sorrow no more crying there'll be no more pain for the former things have passed away and then in verse 10 and he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me the great city holy Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God heaven the glory of God her light was like most precious stone like a Jasper stone clear as crystal and she had a grade in high wall with 12 gates and 12 angels the gates and names written on there which were the names of the 12 tribes of the children of Israel three gates to the east three to the north three to the South three to the west now the wall of the city had 12 foundations and on them were the names of the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb and he who talked to me had a golden reed to measure the city its gates and his walls and the city was laid out as a square its length his greatest breath and its measured the city with the reed twelve thousand furlongs its length breadth heights are equal then he measured its walls 144 cubits according to the measure of a man that is the angel that is of an angel the construction of its walls were as jasper in the city was pure gold like clear glass the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones the first foundation take a breath I'm still reading and don't you check out on me you need to hear the Bible the first foundation was jasper the second sapphire the third chassid Oney the fourth emerald the fifths are ducks the sixth sardius seventh chrysolite the eighth beryl the ninth topaz the tenth crows effect cross a phase the eleventh jacinth and the twelfth Emirates the twelve gates were twelve pearls each individual gate was of one pearl and the streets of that city were pure gold like transparent glass verse chapter 22 and he showed me a pure river of the water of life clear as crystal proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb and in the middle of the street on either side the river was flowing and there was a tree of life which bore twelve fruits each yielding every month the leaves of the trees were the healing of the nation's there was no more curse but the throne of God and of the lamb shall be in it and the servants shall serve Him they shall see his face and his name shall be on their foreheads there shall be no night there no lamp no light of the Sun for the Lord God gives them life listen and they they they shall reign for ever and for ever does anybody believe that's still going to happen you need to get heaven on your man no givin up no turning back nope getting carnal it's all in in love with this whole world and what it can offer I don't care how much money you've got nothing can compare to what God has prepared for us and we need to have heaven on our mind stand up on your feet and lift up your voice and just worship Jesus for a moment tell him that he's worthy tell him that you're thankful tell him that you're gonna serve Him with all of your heart mind soul and strength why wouldn't I he's given us this beautiful earth and while we're here we'll leave and we'll be triumphant and we'll overcome but one day when we get to heaven what a day of rejoicing it will be the battle will be over and I just I just came to comfort somebody I just came to remind somebody that you need heaven on your mind if you are going through something rough down here don't you let modern thinking say oh well that's just an escape it's not an escape it's the Bible and if you believe the Bible you believe what I'm preaching [Music] Paul put it like this he said these light afflictions are to be counted as nothing compared to the glory that will be revealed that these light afflictions are for a moment are working a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory in us that's why Paul said I think it's in 2nd Corinthians 4 he said we're perplexed 2nd Corinthians 4 we're purple xed and not what is persecuted they don't help me so you got to help me you got it hallelujah we're hard pressed they need the King James that's their problem we're hard pressed on every side yet not crushed we're perplexed but not destroyed not in despair keep going next verse we're persecuted but not forsaken come on say it cast down but not the strong always bearing in our body the dying of the Lord Jesus Christ you know what Paul was doing he was getting heaven on his man he was saying I'm going through stuff here but I'm gonna go up higher and remember this is not all I'm headed somewhere that's what you have to do every head bowed and every eye closed at every campus if you're in this room and you would say pastor Franklin I don't know that I'd go to heaven if I were to die today if Jesus were to come back in the flash I don't know that I'm ready and I want to be ready I want to go into eternity right with God I want my name written in the Lamb's Book of Life if there is a heaven there is a book called the book of life and your name is either in it or it's not it can be in it today if you want to know that you're saved if you want to know that you've been forgiven if you want to know that you're going to heaven it won't happen by accident you have to make an appointment and he'll write your name in the Lamb's Book of Life if you confess Jesus as Lord and Savior this is your day pastor pray for me I want to get right with God if that's you boldly raise your hand I want to see it right where you are just raise it unashamed I want to go to hell that hand and see that hand raise it high see that hand I see that hand I see that hand there at every campus just lift your hand high God will see it this is important this is what you do to make your reservation sure I see that hand raise it high unashamed all over this room thank God those of you there the pastors are coming down front and every one of you who raised your hand slip out of your seat at every campus and walk down to the front we're gonna pray a prayer with you we're gonna pray a prayer with you come on if you raise your hand be bold just step out and say I'm coming to Jesus I'm surrendering everything to him there's no shame in it there's no embarrassment in it this is God's grace this is God's goodness this is God's assurance to you come on here they come clap clap here they come just get out of your seat right there in Spartanburg right there right there right now you your heart is beating fast this is an honor called for you come on you don't know you don't know when heavens gonna call or what Jesus is gonna come you need to be ready today is the day of salvation come on come on this is your service this is your altar call come on go ahead come on Buford come on Spartanburg come on come on honors Callie this is your day this is your name heaven is real heaven is real beautiful beautiful beautiful beauty anyone else come on anyone else come on for God so loved the world that He gave His Son that whosoever would call only would be saved hallelujah and if you have this hope in you of heaven you purify yourself you purify yourself how many of you believe that's the truth let's pray this prayer right now everybody pray it outloud all of you who came forward here in this campus and there wherever you are let's just get ready to rejoice with the angels in heaven heaven has taken notice of this part of the service right now and when you pray this prayer Jesus is gonna write your name in the book of life you will be secured for eternity you will be saved because of the blood and the finished work of Calvary receive it today everybody say these words Lord Jesus I believe in you there's no other way to get to heaven there's no other name that can save me but the name of Jesus and so I call on your name save me forgive me raise me from the old life to a brand new creation I receive him as my Lord and Savior and I thank you that my name this moment is being written in the book of life I am known in another world and one day I will make heaven my home because of Jesus hallelujah I'm forgiven and I am saved everybody take a praise break we're almost done can we take a break break and thank Jesus [Applause] want you to freeze I'm gonna put the blessing on you right now you're ready for the blessing those of you prayed this prayer hearing at every campus if you prayed this prayer we have people who are gonna give you free Bibles and free information and you're gonna get signed up and get baptized in waters commandment of the Lord Jesus Christ and I'll either baptize you outside or will baptize you in here but we've got to have another baptism service and you can be one that gets baptized and it's gonna be beautiful and it's gonna be powerful and I want to have the honor of doing that welcome to the family of God you're saved you're forgiven you don't have a past anymore your past is over you're a brand new creation started here and now now once you do so helps you to turn to somebody and I want you to say I'm gonna see you in heaven and you don't look so much better than you do right now you look good right now but you're gonna look even better I believe our bodies are gonna be incredible in heaven that's the only hope
