Cleaning Our Once Abandoned French Chateau From 40 Years Of Neglect.

a dream you dream alone is only a dream a dream you dream together is reality [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] the dream doesn't become reality through Magic it takes sweat determination and hard work so I've finally got some decent weather and it's time to get on the other side of the Chateau isn't it yeah so the other side of us we've got all the scaffolding up we give it a good clean got all the shutters off and got the new windows in and it looks absolutely amazing now just getting all those jobs done so we haven't been able to do it up until now because of weather pretty much every day for about three weeks hasn't it yeah knowing that we're in summer I know every day it's rained so it's just not being safe to get the scaffolding up so now we've got a couple of days of decent weather we're going to try and get the scaffolding up on this side and we can start working on giving it a clean getting new windows in so the windows have arrived so Paul is busy painting them Ash has just nipped out to get the new cremorns which is the locker mechanism and then yeah once we've got the scaffolding up hopefully we'll be able to get the new ones in next few weeks will be in yeah next few weeks yeah because we have to get a Shifty on on getting this side cleaned and also it ready for him going in yeah yeah you excited yeah are you gonna help I like your gloves [Applause] come of it and it's gone really well so scaffoldings up the shutters are down and it's ready to start cleaning it yeah which is exciting the Moss off the roof that's going to make a massive difference as well yeah to be honest I didn't realize just how much of a difference it's actually made that you don't notice it when it's on there do you we didn't add to realize it was so much but once you've cleaned it again on that side though because the rain we've had and obviously the stuff that you've used worked yeah so it's really cleaned off now yeah it looks like a brand new roof it does looks brilliant yeah you can just see how bad this side is now so yeah we'll be at a crack on do the same thing that we did with the other side yeah they're all clean get the stairs there's only even the steps aren't as bad as the last one no there's only one I think that needs adjusting cholesterol okay so that's it good yeah and then like I said it's just gonna look fantastic to have both sides done and then we'll come on at the tower it's still a bit unsure with what we're gonna do yeah um how to do the towel [Music] again before he's asked the question I'm going to say it now because I'm not answering the comments so if you ask it in the comments it's not getting answered the awnings will be getting done but it's a job for another day yes we're just cleaning the front right now and getting the new windows for in yeah so we're on a schedule with it we're not left then we've not forgot about them they will be getting done they will be getting done yes we're not going to leave them like that no we will be replacing them with glass which we have said a million times yeah um what we have to just discuss old until it covers the whole thing rather than just like 10 of it and the priority at the moment is to get the windows in for the winter and get the shuttle cleaned for the winter so the the islands it'll probably be a job next year I can't imagine it's going to get done this year no I don't know the back end of winter but that's at the very earliest opportunity we'll have to do it I think no yeah so that's answered your question but for now we're gonna grab a drink call it a day and hopefully tomorrow start on cleaning it cleaning it yeah yeah and now we know the system that's going to be a lot easier as well yeah so we should have it done by tomorrow dinner time for now we're going yeah so we'll see you tomorrow so the other day I'm back up on the roof again oh on the scaffolding just under the side of the shower now and it's obviously great to actually be up here and again it all sorted and getting a closer look at it all to be honest so we can properly see the roof now and obviously checking all the tiles and to be honest it is really good um touch wood obviously it stairs like that well a couple little bits off to the gutter and we need to clear out which we knew anyway um and then once we got all sorted we'll pop the little caps in to stop them getting blocked up but while I'm up here I can get those cleaned out and then I can start getting the first treatment of the um Moss color on the roof and once that's done I'll leave that for a few weeks I'll come up give it a little bit of a brush off and then put another treatment on and that seems to have worked really well on the other side and it killed I'd probably say about 90 95 of it off and the other little bits will just come off in time obviously the treatment's on there and it's killed it now so it just needs to fall off so during winter it'll probably fall off a lot more anyway so yeah I'm gonna get my armor equipment and I'll show you obviously what I need to start out first with the little we've got a couple little birds nests that have been so plunked in the guttering there's no beds or eggs or anything in the no the old ones but um the needs to run out because it's going to block up the got run in time and causes more problems so while rupee you may as well get started and yeah see if there's any other little bits that we need to get on with so I'll show you now obviously the things I'm going to tackle today and then go from there so as you can see I'll see this quite a lot of moss on the roof I don't realize until you're up close just how much they actually is to be honest um is there any still away it doesn't look too bad so I've got my jet wash this is the treatment I'm using to fill it all off um it just kills off any sort of like lichen any Moss or anything on walls roofs patios anything like that so all I do is with the jet wash there's a spray bottle of course on so I just pop it in there and then it mixes with what that's coming out can squirt all that on I think first I have to wet it all down and then I apply the treatment and then leave it for 20 minutes half an hour and then wash it off um so I'll get a crack on with that well while I'm up here I see we've got a bird's nest there and then I don't know if you can see it because the sun there's just one there as well just underneath the roof of the Tower so I'll get both of those out first we've got like a long stick and then you can see down this side the gut run you'll see all of the got runs blocked off so I'm gonna have to get our list out so there's like a little Nest there wasn't too bad so that's all I don't know and get all the rest cleaned up for around here and then get all this off and then once our list has been trapped um I can start sanding the Dharma window get our lap done and then go look a pin on it we are taking these shutters off for now these are the original shutters and we're gonna try and restore them and then pop them back up I think it would be nice to have them and we do get quite a lot of bad weather on this side so all I do is just roll down and then these little bars lock them into place whenever we've got a storm so yeah it's good a couple of the little bits I need to do while I'm up here but nothing too much so I'll crack on now getting these birds nests out and then I'll start treating all of the roof foreign foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign foreign [Music] so that's the first part of the treatment done for the roof and already it's looking brilliant like so much has come off just with the first treatment in the jet wash and so I'll leave that for a bit while we get the rest of the front of the shower cleaned um obviously you can just leave this treatment on then once we've done all that we can come back to it and give it another coat and try and get the like next bits of that off and then hopefully fingers crossed that'll look as good as the other side but while I was um up here waiting for the treatment I decided to clean this part of the Tower and already it's looking absolutely amazing it's looking brand new to be honest and the other side obviously we couldn't really clean it and the scaffold them with it a little bit further away and we didn't really know the process at the time so we've got most of it cleaned but no one known the process out clean it obviously I thought I'd try it on this part I tried a bit of the solution that we're trying on the roof tried some of that on left it on for a bit and then went over and brought a lot of it up like I said fantastic as you can see yeah so you might see in the video how much it changed as well yeah I'm pleased with it just not looking forward to doing the other sides of it I don't know how we're going to do that but that's a job for another day well it's just absolutely amazing while I'm up here like the views so we've got the tower you've got all the front field and then all the way down there you've got little lala cell so you may be it so you're just down there so Village but yeah it's it is scary when you're okay yeah but I said just for the views like one of my favorite ones literally just stood here so having half the tower in the shot and then up in the field and it is it's just beautiful so I'm done for the day up here so I'm gonna go down and see how everyone else is getting on I can't believe we've got up that quick I know it went up far easier this time now obviously we're getting a hang of the scaffolding and how best to get it open put it together how it stabilize it yeah how it stabilize it which is the most important thing yeah because it gets a bit Rocky up there didn't it yeah it does and yeah it's all up which is brilliant and I've got the first quarter of treatment on the roof and quite a lot of it to come off already to be honest yeah and so hopefully we'll be a crack on with the rest of that get that started and I've seen my little test patch on the side of the tower it just looked brilliant already just getting that little bit sparkly clean yeah so uh the next stage you'll be noticed actually cleaning the front of the The Chateau so the actual walls yeah we're sat cleaning them and then go from there hopefully it'll be the windows in and then the bottom windows in yeah and then the scaffold down and get the front done turret yeah I'm not looking forward to that so that'll be another day yeah that'll be a different day just give it a day's rest and then we'll do that yeah yeah yeah a day in between will be fine yeah but we can't wait to even just get this other side cleaned and get the windows in because then you'll get the full effect of having the both sides fully clean even taking the shutters off it's took 50 years of age of like their election away yeah yeah yeah because they were really bad on this side all of them were hanging off yeah so it looks a million times better than what it did just getting them off shutters we will be um replacing in time um but that'll be a later date so we will be getting sure started and just to go over again the canopies we will be restoring the canopies so they're the metal things that are sticking out other side of the tower anyone asked about the canopies I'm blocking them never going to be allowed to comment again I'm sorry I did this last time yeah so we will be restoring them um but again we have to readjust the scaffolding to concentrate purely on them and obviously the main priority at the minute is to get the windows in so it's water tight I think people comprehend the amount of work that's going to be in them kind of piece no it's going to be a massive amount and it's probably a month's working each canopy just cleaning it getting it all right welding it back into position yeah okay gutters and everything sorted so yeah it's gonna be a lot oh yeah well that'll be another day's job as well that'll probably be after the day when we get scaffolding down and back up again yeah yeah do you think he's kidding hey hope you've enjoyed Today's
