well I'm guessing this is about Tiger Tiger trivia tiger trivia oh boy oh that's a good question ah Tiger Woods holds the top six spots tiger stuff is just such an anomaly in this world that it's always hard to comprehend oh this is false I don't know if we're ever going to see anyone come close to what tiger did oh wow it's true True Tiger is truly in a league of his own every time we talk about his stats they're just mind-blowing I was Bloody 11 off dang that's amazing I'm like how the hell did he do this and this and that and winning this much in that one year he made it look so easy for so long that I think a lot of us just really took it for granted at the time it's always neat to be part of History to be part of things that no one's ever done ever it's beyond numbers you can't quantify it he just absolutely rewrote the book the first 11 years of his career he won 14 major championships for 13 years number one playing how about that huh one more and he stands alone at the top of the mountain he sets a benchmark that the young players can strive [Music] [Applause] toward big cat he's back next on the te from Jupiter Florida please welcome the founder of the tgr foundation and the tournament host Tiger [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Wood it's like he's never left 82 PJ tour wins the tiger slam I will Lowry just like you guys witnessed him shatter break all the PJ tour record books his stats profound unfathomable I can't remember the last time he even used that word he's not done yet even if his Sunday red looks a bit different than it did nearly three decades ago it was a a different era you know when I came out I mean I know it's 20 plus years but the mentality was very different you had the mental of earning your stripes and eventually as you gain more experience handle the situations you start to win well I saw there it's no different from when I played junior golf to Amer Golf and Collegiate golf that I won at each level why can't I win here the story here at Brown Deer Park was the pro debut of 20-year-old Tiger Woods what would be a successful week here of Milwaukee that Victory would been awfully nice [Music] a victory do you think um to me that comes off as uh a little cocky or Brash well I when you come out here your you know what I'm saying your first pro tournament you say you know I can win oh I understand that um I've always figured that why go to a tour if you're not going there to try and win you'll learn and Tiger Woods would open his pro career with a four under 67 I won two times in '96 and then did well in '97 the rest of my career you look at that time mid to late 90s into the early 2000s like real great world beater players talking about Davis loves of the world Ernie El FJ Singh and then my group of youngsters that were just starting to come through just trying to really figure out how we were going to find a way to deal with this guy he ties ear El for the tournament record at 17 under it was towards the end of my playing career so I I saw a lot of it up close in personal and relative to the field it was a different level C a strange referenced basically what everybody said in in the locker room you'll learn because nobody was that much better than anyone else you know I have learned something I think you're better than I thought you'd be thanks are you better than you thought you'd be this early yes winning as much as I have so far I never thought that would actually happen until I got in until the flow of playing on tour which is probably about 22 23 maybe in 24 in his first full year as a professional tiger Amad six wins growing to his total to 15 by the age of 24 including eight in 1999 alone the season that followed rewrote history as we knew it that time I was what 24 25 99 2000 so you know that athletically it's generally when you Peak and fortunate for me I was able to take advantage of my my Peak years it was an incredible start to the year you know going head to-head with Ernie right there at caloa I was just on a run where I was making everything what do you think about that we had this saying that every now and again I'm just holding a play I you shouldn't hold up play I mean you should just give this to me it's a 15 20 footer I mean I why am I holding up play and I was just making those butts time and time again I played well out of gust but not good enough I think I finished fifth the BJ but the next three Majors were were positive when he won in those events at peble beach in 2000 then at St Andrews when he ran away from the field that one which was the second leg of the tiger slam actually completed his career Grant slam the Third Leg of course was the PG Championship to have the opportunity to do something that only Ben Hogan's done win three majors in a year and that was that was nerve-racking but tough n had to wait for eight months until Augusta would come around again also in 2000 I was one in Greens and reg and number two in putty and so you're hitting a lot of firway a lot of greens and making everything it it's going to add up to some W's but also if I do it properly it's going to add up to some bigger margins too and I had some nice margins there 158 and then a few other ones so I won the dog fights but also um had a couple blowouts Tiger Woods his ninth victory of the year and the second man to capture the Triple Crown the US the British and the Canadian opens in the same year it's a tremendous honor to be able to win you know three open championships in one year and especially since not too many guys have ever done it I started that run I've won with eight times in 99 and then nine and in 2000 so 17 times and four majors in that 2-year span with one of the greatest seasons of all time in the books Tiger's fourth straight major title was still up for grabs in April of 2001 the tiger slam was complete when I was a kid I I never thought about winning four in a row or be a part of the Grand Slam I never thought of that I won the the so-called fifth one at the The Players Championship so I have I guess the five biggest tournaments you could possibly win sitting on my M right now better than most I had an opportunity and I was able to capitalize on [Applause] it during the entire 2000 PJ tour season how many rounds did Tiger Woods record higher than 73 I me I'm just say something crazy say two one dang close that's that's ridiculous Scotty shefflers 2022 23 scoring average of 68 63 ranks seventh all time on PJ tour what six names are ahead of him on that list I would guess there's only one and I would imagine it's just six tiger years there's only one name Tiger Woods it's too easy it's kind of the reason I got into the game of golf so it's not totally surprising but to have the top six spots is pretty absurd that's incredible I mean to have to have the six lowest scoring averages what he's done is uncomprehending the 25 under tournaments and I think that's the most impressive thing about it if you look at the actual schedule he played to hold his top six scoring average seasons on the PGA tour it's probably the most impressive thing is is where he played them next on the te from Dallas Texas please welcome the 2023 players champion Scotty [Music] shuffler after a crazy 2023 Scotty sheer is the first player to win back-to-back play of the Year honors since Tiger Woods while today's Stars continue to chase that dominance it's no mystery why sheffer's name is sitting right beside tiger in those history books I just laugh like his statistics from the early 2000s were so absurd like I I looked at the player of the year stuff to see how many times he won it there was like eight years there where he won it almost every year if you followed Scotty schiffler week in week out out last season you would have seen how consistent he was Tia green starting right trying to turn it again and it's a pretty good spot here it comes texbook Tiger Woods did that to six different seasons so Scotty schiffer's season should stand out but it should also remind us of that next level that no one else other than Tiger Woods is a t tiger holds the first six I think that kind of tells you everything need to know on how good Scott he's been playing you finish the round with him shot 68 or 67 you kind of step away from the round and kind of Blown Away at how easy he made it look and then you actually think back to the shots that he hit and you're like okay he actually only missed one green and it was in The Fringe and oh yeah he hit 12 out of 14 Fairways oh wow yeah that's actually unbelievable in addition to the seventh best adjusted scoring average in PJ tour history sheffer's 2023 Strokes Game T to Green ranked second only to tigers in 2006 oh Scotty how about that for a moment Scotty's unbelievable he's doing things that are tiger esque anytime you're doing something where you're even mentioning the same breath as tiger you're on an incredible run the reigning Player of the Year earned 13 top fives last year the most by any player in a single season since tiger in 2005 that just speaks to such consistency that you don't really see that much so Scotty's an unbelievable player and he's going to be a top player in the world for a very long time if he keeps this up for the next few years he's going to be the greatest player of Our Generation there's no question Scotty has proved to be the guy to beat every time he plays he's incredibly consistent and he has a chance to win every time he tease it up I think we're all trying chase that consistency um that's something that I've tried to chase for a number of years and to have a year where I I really did play consistent for the bulk of the year is a nice little little thing for me sheffler made buly or Worse on just over 10% of holes last year no other player has averag below 11% since Tiger Woods did it back in 2002 the thing about Scotty that's so impressive is he doesn't go outside of his comfort zone finding himself in the biggest golf tournaments every single week and winning at a very Swift pace and winning very very [Applause] frequently after a breakthrough victory in 2022 shefer won three of the next five starts breaking Tigers record a fewest days between his first PJ tour title and reaching world number one he's the first person in quite some time now where there's been some significant separation from one to two in the world and from the rest of the pack he's really special it's no surprised he's been killing it the world number one has maintained that dominance to start 2024 with three victories in a span of four starts and tiger likee fashion baby this is my eighth tournament win now out here I've tied him in Players Championships outside of that you know I got 14 more majors and you know 70 something PJ tour events to catch up and he joins only tiger in winning the Players and the Masters in the same year golf is so difficult and he made it look so easy for so long that I think a lot of us just really took it for granted at the time think about the cuts for him not to ever have just one really bad round the first two rounds of a tournament like it happens so easily all [Applause] right we may have witnessed one of the great streaks in golf in order to to be number one you have to win and order to win you have to make it around for the cut 142 cups consecutively can be looked at a 100 different ways Tiger Woods really wasn't a class of his own so his bad goal was still good enough to at least play the weekend different sports you see you know let's just take pitures in baseball for example a lot of them will go three four Innings they don't quite have it even though they're Superstars they get pulled off and out of the game a golf that can't happen I was a fighter I was consistent and I'm very proud of that whether I felt good or or not I went out there and I executed over that period of time he found a way to have consistency like we've never ever seen before and I think that's why that stat gets so much respect from his [Music] peers yeah it's a most amazing record in sports I know uh the hits record in baseball is pretty remarkable but I think you have to be out here for a year or two to realize how utterly impossible that that would be there's some things that are out of your control when you're playing golf and weather is one of them and getting sick or just playing poorly for a just a tiny stretch can sometimes mean missing the cut four or five bad holes in a row you know you're you got no chance you just shake your head you're like that's just that's just crazy you know I don't know that's not humanly possible you know in in in our game so there's so many things where you shake your head it's just so outlandish it doesn't make any sense especially in some some of the bigger fields and the majors we was playing the best tournaments every week I don't know how you can't wake up one day on a Thursday and something hurts or don't feel good how about that one huh making a oh baby God love it it's just a testament to how well his game is cuz if something was off he had five other things that are still the best in the world well tiger asked me what the cut score was and I said well it looked as though it was going to be one over and he gave me a big smile and said I love the pressure it just manifests the power of this man's mind and then the desire he would find a way to make it happen and that to me was the most admirable thing is how he would make a way by hook or by crook Tiger Woods was going to do it blind hog finds aade corn every once in a while he can have things stacked against him beyond belief but he will never ever give up what got me to that level was my my will to to not give a shot back I I hated making poogies I still do I just hate making a bogey and I think making a part putt from 10 ft is more important than making a birdie putt he never dropped that shot it gets perspective because it made news when he missed a cut when he didn't have a weekend tea time only the third time as a professional Tiger Woods will fail to get to the weekend it's disappointing anytime you miss a cut uh because you're here for four rounds to compete and win a golf tournament and I don't get that opportunity to win a golf tournament he thrived on the pressure and sometimes that is just to make a cut it's not just to win a tournament or win a major championship is to keep momentum make a cut give yourself a chance on the weekend and that's what he did so well for so tiger trivia how many pj2 wins did Tiger Woods earn in his [Music] 20s so 97 he was what 21 or something at the Masters uh hold on hold on hold on what is he he was born in 19 75 uh we will go [Music] with 40 I'm going to say it has to be close to 40 but like I would say 35 46 that's not bad I was pretty close I was Bloody 11 off dang that's amazing I'm not sure I had a win in my 20s so um not to say that I would ever compare my career with Tigers but um you know every time somebody pulls a stat of his you just have to shake your head Tiger's role in elevating his sport is larger than any other Superstar athlete had an impact on whatever that given sport is so if you try to boil it down to numbers yeah the DAT is still going to be highly favorable for tiger and his impact on the game but it goes way beyond that it's Way Way Beyond numbers before he had a single professional Victory to his name tiger faced a level of hype never before seen in the game of golf there was such a hoopla around him tiger this tiger this tiger this tiger this and you everybody's like wow this kid's going to have a lot of pressure on himself he just came out ready to play I Remember bch Haron telling me this kid's going to beat you guys to death and sure enough he was right I know he made the first cut of and then sure enough he went out and won to the next six events made it to the Tour Championship and almost won the quarter mer on the PGA tour the pegy exceeded expectations Paving a way for today's Tiger inspired generation to win early and often at the end of 2017 my best season on tour won five times I just finished winning the FedEx Cup won a major and one of the first text again I had when I got done with tiger and it was congrats now do that nine more times and that's what I've done in my career cuz he's won whatever five or more times 10 times or something like that the best season of the quarter Century eight [Applause] wins I won five in one year and everything had to go like my way like I I honestly had to pinch myself sometimes on like is this really I felt like I was in a simulation cuz I just like I didn't know if it was like real or not but to do that that consistent for that Ro was just remarkable I mean will it ever happen again maybe probably not though I wish I could just see it firsthand and go back to really witness that at this age where I'm at now I I definitely understand it more than you know where I was as a as an 8-year-old trying to see what he's doing he gave those guys a license to say I could do it because they've seen it happen in their lifetime but maybe that was their biggest gift something he wants people to break his records he wants a dominant future players they go win most of the events with everything he's accomplished there's a new challenge to go chase tigerwoods streak of 24 consecutive Cuts now goes to 25 game respects game and with each new star comes a mutual respect for just how difficult it is to maintain early success when karawa burst on the scene and won the PJ Championship he was in the middle of a run of 22 straight consecutive cuts that was is very reminiscent of Tiger Woods when he first turned Pro 25 straight consecutive Cuts while no two careers are ever the same the tiger comparison finds those who come within Striking Distance of his records it's obviously the the biggest compliment you can ever receive in the game of golf so if you ever mention in the same sentence as him I think you're doing quite well when we start trying to make these comparisons to people like tiger it's interesting because a lot of these players are so young and still growing up it's always a lot of fun to make these comparisons but in a lot of ways too I think it's kind of unfair and we should just allow all these players to come out and run their race so to speak and enjoy what they bring to the table you can argue a lot of the same things with Michael Jordan I mean LeBron has obviously had a great career as well but those kinds of careers or people like that don't just come around they stand on their own so look at it as a compliment and then let them go play from there and Tiger's 46 wins in his 20s is a record that forever may be chased the guys today have an appreciation with just how hard it was to do the things that tiger made look easy he reset the bar every bar for everyone all right tiger trivia true or false tiger spent more time at world number one than the length of Michael Jordan's career with the bulls does Jordan's career with the bulls include the years of his Gap years or no let me figure it out I'm from Chicago I should know this I reckon he must have been there well he won I know he won six so that's six years at least they won in 91 92 93 so he left he was he wasn't there for 94 and 95 so 94 to 80 90 83 to 94 is how many seasons 11 Seasons or 12 tiger I want to say had like 600 and something weeks at world number one that's actually quite close I think tiger was only no world number one for 13 years I want to say total maybe more or I feel like this is a trick question though oh this is false I reckon MJ had a long career with the bulls I know VJ was number one for in the world for a little bit in 2004 and then tiger was back from 05 to 09 so that's 5 years now I'm going to go with Michael Jordan St with the bulls oh wow it's true it's really close though unbelievable Tiger 13 years 5 weeks Jordan 12 years 28 weeks really close within months I was right about the 13 years though my math is wrong at Jordan's Jordan's ears though the amount of time that Tigers spent at world number one is Untouchable but it doesn't take away from others who made it there Roy maoy has reached the top of the mountain a number of times throughout his decorated career and he holds one achievement even tiger can't claim it is Rory mroy with his extraordinary talents that wins a third FedEx Cup title to share two FedEx cups with Tiger Woods I thought was a really cool accomplishment but to to even separate myself from that tie and get to three you know I would put that up with you know some of the biggest achievements I've had in the game with his 23rd PGA Tour victory in the fall of 2022 the northern Irishman became the number one player in the world for the ninth time in his career totaling 122 weeks only 561 shy tiger 683 or whatever it is I can't faom it's unbelievable I just don't think anyone can speak highly enough of what tiger did you know over that stretch of Gulf it was just insane tiger will never pass me any mantle in the game because I'm just not I'm not him I will never be him his success on the golf course I don't know if it'll ever be matched again Rory's embraced what it is to be at the top of the game maybe in a more comfortable way than tiger ever did and that's why people seem to flock to him pretty easily and that's been a big part of what I think his legacy will be I think he set a great example for a lot of us going forward and I understand and I realize that I I will never have the influence on the game that he has had I think there's a bunch of us now that can fill his shoes but it's not just one or two of us it needs to be 15 or 20 of us I'm not going to remember the exact numbers but like we're playing at Riv this year and I hit my t this guy yells out like congrats on being number one Scotty you know 11 more years to go 11 more years to go at 21 years old Tiger became the youngest player to reach number one in the world a place he will call home longer than anyone in PJ tour history one of the best records is Tiger Woods being world number one for 13 years collectively that's like three careers really at the highest level it's almost half my life really you think about how hard it is to stay number one for just 6 weeks I think the Last 5 Years the world number one's changed every year so it just goes to show you how how incredible that is getting to number one was much easier than staying there staying there is hard because the amount of time that you have to allocate to practicing and playing gets smaller and it gets a little bit harder it gets a little more challenging from 1999 to 2004 tiger set a record of 264 consecutive weeks at world number one only to surpass his own Mark with 281 straight weeks from 2005 to 2010 let's not forget he did this with almost three or four iterations of his golf swing he was like okay I've scaled Everest let's find another way to do it there was this un quenchable thirst inside just to find his very best even if it was Reinventing himself my goodness he's done that multiple times the number of weeks at number one obviously something that you'll never see broken you know it just goes to his ability to compete and play his dedication to craft dedication to Precision dedication to Middle game that just was that much better than everybody else you add in you know lifting sessions of an hour and a half to 2 hours a day plus Training Table you know practice time the next you know it's a 10-hour day and you do that week in week out and then you add in a decade of that it's the fact that he continuously found the motivation and the drive and the dedication to keep getting up keep putting the work in keep finding ways to improve himself in his game to stay on top of the mountain for that long it's one thing getting there but then finding ways to sustain that is mega mega impressive to me all right tiger trivia what is Tiger Woods career win percentage with outright 54 hole [Music] lead oh oh wi percentage whenever I watch tiger highlight is this it's as if he's won every tournament he's ever played so um no I can't tell you the ones you didn't win I know he lost once no wait was it tyer Le when he lost Yang I can't remember I don't remember him losing another one other than that maybe there's another one 98% I think it's like 97% somewhere there I know it's extremely high okay so that I was close I gave tiger too much uh yeah he won 95.7 of the time that he had a 54 H lead yeah D for 44 out of 46 is great 44 for 46 that is so impressive man cuz I think in theory you lose more in Sunday than than win actually people tend to forget really quickly how good it really was man he was he was stupid good the legend just grew and it got to a place in a Sunday in the final group if you're alongside Woods you're one down before you've hit a shot because of the stature he carried and how he owned space rentree in everybody's head if I'm playing with the lead whether it's one or 10 if we tie I win simple mathematics my job is to make sure that I shoot a number that will tie [Music] you I think we were paired together in the last round I remember birdie and ju to tie for the lead and uh you know tiger kind of gave me a smile there are times when yeah I've got to put the hammer down and I've got to make a bunch of birdies here in the next four or five holes all of a sudden boom it'd make a 20-footer boom iron shot close or par five you know wedg it two under three under another three you know next thing you know he's five or six under for the day and and has a five or six shot lead it's like a football team when the other team needs some turnovers or some things to happen some bad play and you need that from Tig it's not like we were playing scared we were actually playing a little over aggressive trying to hit six iron or four iron to a tighter pin knowing he had an eight iron that he'd fly it straight up in the air and be able to access it that is a real tricky mental space for an athlete to be in because you start to question yourself and that really to me was the thing that really separated tiger really for about a decade even if they had their best they probably weren't going to get him tiger won a career best seven consecutive starts from 2006 to 2007 second all time behind Byron Nelson's record of 11 straight on five separate occasions tiger had streaks of three or more victories in a row if I won I was going to do it again just how soon I was going to do it he treats 72 holes like it's the the last hole to win a golf tournament every time that's where he was better than everybody he rolls up he's got the red shirt black pants everything that that is coming along with that that record of constantly winning dominating beating up on his opponents everyone on the course seemed to have one eye on what they were doing another eye on what was Tiger doing they could hear the roar they knew that was reserved for him when Tiger's making a move there's a different noise and you cannot Escape that so there was there no escaping the pressure you couldn't hide from the moment and that was maybe you know Tiger's 15th Club in the back what tiger could do in the chaos that tiger brought is what made him so great in those positions it's hard to isolate one thing over another and say this was his best achievement you know the Run of major championships winning seven out of 11 at one time or the season where he ran this tournament win streak but all had the same feel this a big shot for him if he wants to win this thing all eyes on tiger a low strafe for turning up the left Center going down the left side this should be good has not lost a tournament that he's played in in more than a half year and then to watch him not only rise to the occasion but do it often times in a dominating fashion over and over again I would almost bet you that was been a foot of where he was aiming it that's how perfect that shot was Tiger Woods with a chance for birdie to put away his 64th PGA Tour Victory his win percentage on tour is something that I don't think will'll ever see again seven consecutive wins worldwide four for four in 2008 one of the most amazing runs in sports history continues those are nice numbers and in our sport the win rate is very lows 5 6% our guys are in the Hall of Fame with that you can see him do something that would produce a massive reaction 500 ydd away on the golf course you would see another player falter is like it just the world crumbled because they knew the and was making a move he was charging the first 11 years of his career he won 14 major championships and he was ahead of Jack Nicholas he was ahead of everything he was ahead of every record in golf he would front up and he had that look in his eyes tiger he was a dynasty himself I've never seen anything like it in sport and I've covered a lot of them well I got to earn my way into 83 but that's a career that's just not something that happens overnight that's going to be done over an expansion of decades took Sam close to 30 some years to do it we're measured in [Applause] decades tiger trivia if you only took Tiger's total combined wins in California Florida and Ohio where does he rank old time PJ tour [Music] wins so California I mean Tory Pebble I think there's got to be close to about seven or eight in each state so I'm going to say like oo I'm going say like 20 to 25 wins and then that would put [Music] him my geography is not great but Florida Arnold Palmer he's won a bunch in Ohio Memorial I mean he's got to be around maybe sixth or seventh all time list 30 wins where would that make you on the PJ tour [Music] probably top 10 okay the answer is 10th he's got 16 in Florida 14 in California and 13 in Ohio that's that's crazy so 43 wasn't too far off I said about 10 in each state but uh wow and I even highball it and I'm still short just in three states in the United States and he's 10th in the all time and he's got over I mean he's got over 35 wins that's pretty incredible I've had 82 wins on on the PJ tour and 15 majors and I can name most of them but there are a few golf courses which I've done really well at I've won seven times at Tor even though I counted as eight cuz I want to US Open there as well I've won eight times at Bay Hill eight times at five times at Memorial that's a pretty big chunk of the the bulk of my [Music] winds his seventh Victory here at the Farmers Insurance open tiger you won a Tory seven or eight times that's eight times and one I was a junior so technically nine so I like that place uh I I I've enjoyed playing Tor for some reason just fits my [Music] [Applause] eye the best player in the world has won this tournament three times in a row and unless something unforeseen happens there's a pretty good chance he'll win it again four and in a row for Tiger Woods and Bill the experiences that I've had there and on top of that be able to win it and to have you know the king there they give me a big handshake and a hug and and some of the experiences we shared you know after round and throughout the years it's very close to my [Applause] [Music] heart the lights out at akan was big we were in a race against darkness and by the way Darkness one tiger was 178 yd away in a fairway I couldn't see anybody out there he strikes an eight AR and when it lands it was genius is what it was flash bulbs are going off everywhere and I believe I said something about lights out and Tiger Woods is done it again how about that huh [Applause] he ran off three wins in a row there at one time five times overall and he pulled off shots there on a couple of years chipping in look at this shot look at this might go in might go in might go in it is in that was one of the most incredible golf shots I think you'll ever see played it was always going to be a special place for Tiger because it was Jack's tournament and Jack was someone that he not only respected but he competed against Jack set the standard and he wanted to do what Jack did and he wanted to do it to The Next Step Above and Beyond he grew up with Nicholas's records on the wall in his in his bedroom Tiger's records are going to be a little bit like Jack where not a play with think we [Applause] unreachable to host an event and to have the same status as two of my Idols Jack and Arnold I miss it's a dream come true receiving a trophy from Tiger that's one way to get your name right beside him in the history books but his records that may take a lifetime to break chasing tiger isn't so much about overcoming his stats or surpassing achievements but it's about pursuing his commitment to the game I've always been one who likes to break records and push the envelope I'm always trying to push to get better that has been the Hallmark of my career winning means a lot to me second sucks and third's even worse I look back on it now and uh I wish I could have won more Tiger's dedication and winning mentality BR the success that we witnessed for decades only history will tell if we'll see it again I would equate it to having the opportunity for the first time in your life to go and watch Michael Jordan play it's like Muhammad Ali it is the elite of the elite as an announcer it was wonderful because he could perform magic you get to the point sometimes where your reservoir of superlatives is bone dry what's the next great superlative that you can come up with they've all been used it was a wonderful
