well guys we're entering the home stretch on this thing I've drove it twice now we got our wiring kit I'm not gonna put them guys down a Pepe Kenworth up and playing with they've been really good to me you know the parks department stuff Friday they're their computers were down their computers were down and they couldn't couldn't order anything and when I went home that night about 9 o'clock at night when I got home the internet wasn't working and my son told me he says yeah the dad something happened to the fiber-optic cable it's out all in Southern Oregon or something anyway nobody had internet anywhere all day long Friday so I asked her she could order this and she said yeah I'd have to call Medford so she called Metro Pappy Kenworth over there and they ordered this kit for me and yeah I want to say thanks to Tim Stanford too because he's the one that got on there now I know how to do it I know how to find it this is a 529 87 34cm 2350 connector repair kit so anyway I went in there I you guys know that 6170 am john deere that i was working on the other day episode of video on well kind of a new customer you know these guys they actually owned this old building here that I'm renting from and I've been renting it for years and they've never ever called me to work on their stuff they're a seed potato outfit and you know well this all of a sudden out of the blue they called me for that John Deere and I fixed it and I don't know all week I've been working on I've been going over there almost every day working on all their cab older potato trucks I better oh they broke a shift fork and I like a 88 cab over Peterbilt that had a potato box on it I pulled the shift tower had a 15 speed in it I ordered a shift fork it came back the next day put a fork in it and I knew why I checked out you know when you see broken Forks and transmissions on eating transmissions there's usually a reason and it's usually low or first and it's because that they're jamming it into gear because there's the clutch is not adjusted and sure as hell you know you grab the clutch pedal and there's no free play at all and you climb underneath it and look at it and it's got about a it's got about a Oh three-quarter inch gap between the throw up burying the clutch brake and so anyways the inspection plate was gone off the ball in the bell housing couldn't get it adjusted would not adjust I've read it on the air hammer for a long time tried moving the clutch ring finally I said you got to put a clutch in this thing man and put an inspection plate on there seal it up and keep that dirt out of there so you know and mark marked the owner he's hell of a good guy and he said just do it man he said get it coming let's make it happen so anyway he said we're gonna use it for now I said yeah just don't break another shift fork till I get it fixed anyway so they had a cab over 94 cab over Freight honor with the n14 in it and the clutch need adjusted on it and the picture you guys see there that that that's the drive line out of it this is I should have videoed that but so anyways I climbed under this truck took just a clutch and I looked under there I said holy [ __ ] look at the drive line in it and I I texted him the yeah the picture of that and he goes well that doesn't make any sense he goes he said Bruce drove that thing down there and Bruce's it was it used to you know Drive truck full time before he just kind of retired and drove truck for mark in the fall and you know for harvest and he says he would have noticed that thing that there's no way you know that thing would have been vibrating and slamming and banging and making noise and and we kind of come to the conclusion that somebody there in the potato cellar there where they were processing spuds you know the truck must have been in the way or something and they decided to move it and they probably tried moving it with a brake set is what I have a feeling happened and they dump the clutch trying to get the trying to get you know trying to get it to move with the brake set and twisted the drive line in it but anyways I had a drive line had to go get the drive line fixed and I went back and I had a overheating problem they said get it put a thermostat in it so I went and put a thermostat in it drove it and it's still getting hot and anyways today I went out there and pulled the bottom drain the antifreeze out of it because I have a suspicion that that old truck that radiator was probably needed to be rotted out and I pulled that knows some of them for bolt some of them freight liners had on cab doors had a 4 bolt flange that the neck of the radiator that bottom hose the two and I drained it and just took that 4 bolt flange then I could see the the tubes and the radiator clear today and they were just plug solid you know just years of running that soul in it pulling the radiator out took it to town and Leo up there he's getting her all rotted out and anyway that being said that's what I've been doing the last few days onto this anyways yeah I get sidetracked sorry about that guys could get to telling you about all the crap that's going on but Ruth had ordered this again once she called Metford and they ordered it and for some reason I heard Ruth tell the gal over there ship it directly to Klamath but you guys ordered it well I was out there working on them potato trucks and I came from what they call Hildebrand I came from Hildebrand all the way across over to Klamath to get this and then come down here and get this truck done and I showed up and he said let me look it up it's not here and and they had shipped it to Medford so my wife I called her and she was in class she's going to school clams Community College to be an RN and and I said honey would you please halt asked to a central point and grab my kit I need it now so she got out of class she hauled ass over there and let me get my light and I'll show you what I've been doing in the meantime if I can find oh there it is always having a tire but I drove it the first time yesterday Sunday and I didn't like it because it's kind of looks like crap right now but uh here's our ship tower his his kind of his aftermarket thing here you can't really see it I got a piece of foam shoved in there now you can you can see what I did there's this piece here is kind of the chrome piece that both sounded this big plastic piece what's bolts down to the floor which Ashley actually both sound to this inner plate okay so the inner plate is held down and the shift tower most of that what I did is I measured the center of the hole and I came back an inch and a half so I cut an inch and a half out and what I did is I just turned that plate that I cut out and just put it on this in and welded it in there and then I had the two holes for this end where see these screws here and then I had to drill for more holes and then I made that all that's all centered in there but the only thing is cosmetically now this you got a gap right here I mean that's about all I can really do with it right now you know trying to get this thing down so he can go logging that's kind of where he's at right now he said let's just get her let's just get her rolling and get some money coming in and he says when we get done I want you to wire the crews and just some odds and ends stuff and let's just kind of tidy things up on it so okay on this kit here are your small wire you've got like a I don't know what they say here what's I just looks like a 14 gauge or a 16 gauge I think this is 16 gauge and this is 14 gauge I already opened one of them here on the 14 gauge and I'm pretty sure that we've got a 16 gauge wire on this on this right here yes we have the small wire so and actually got a number on the wire 2/5 925 that's the part number actually on the bag in it no huh to 5/9 2507 what's a 2 8 9 it is the part number on the bag that's kind of cool but if you want needs also got the Adelphi the whole lock assembly and the piece that goes around there and bolts to the ECM and you know that comes with two zip ties that go around there and hold the cable in there which we really don't need that all that says fine it comes with a few of the locks to slide it in there and lock it in kind of a neat little deal really so anyways I'm gonna get to getting these wires in here and let's get going let's get this light over on this side of it that way might help things a little bit so it's not the notes I want to touch on is this 2350 is me and Tim Stanford found out by looking at the wiring schematic they've completely changed the strategy the 870 they 71 the 20 to 50 that I looked up all of them had the same they showed on the schematic the what they were doing was taking the signal return line going up to the on/off switch and they were interrupting it and then all they were doing was taking the signal lines they had they took two signals on the three position switch so they would tie into one signal for position one which would I think was two cylinders and then maybe maybe it was three cylinders it was three cylinders and then positioned to was two cylinders or six cylinders and then position three was all six cylinders and the vgt when both signals were grounded it's a little bit similar here but they don't even show the on/off switch in this schematic for this engine all they show is pin 96 and pin 68 two signals coming in and then two switches with connecting the signals to the grounds they're ground in the signal lines and pulling the voltage down to signal the ECM to turn it on so that being said we found out that position one is on this engine is the front three cylinders okay in position two is the front three cylinders and the vgt based on vehicle speed sense which we do not have hooked up we went off his old magnetic pickup I still have the vehicle speed sense wire right here so I told Tom do you want to do that he said no not right now that's one of the things this winter we're gonna put a dual pickup on the output shaft extension on the transmission and put another speed sensor based on the serial number that's on that frame out there from Peterbilt and we're gonna wire this that way the stage-two works correctly and when to another switch in there for now I told him what we're doing we're gonna use OAuth we're gonna use his original switch we're gonna use that off and then the first stage and then we're gonna use the final stage and he said technically warned he says to tell you the truth I don't ever use he said a lot of these guys tell me how they use that he said I'm an old timer I I just used the full stage anyway so so um there's little plugs in here we got to get out I'll need to get finding a little pair of needle nose pliers or a pickle dig those out of there 96 96 is my signal to stick that one there I need to I need to pull the slide lock there's a slide lock right here that locks the wires it's a 96 Way slide lock little trouble um tell you what I did this is the first time I've ever done this on one of these Delphi connectors like this so I'm kind of shooting from the hip here I noticed that this was hanging up in there and it wasn't crimped very good that was part of my problem and then I got a little bit of grease on my finger here and just greased the water upward go through that rubber sealer a little better and then it slid right in there and locked in there so now we're gonna pull out 1068 we gotta find pin 68 which I can't tell what is what there so if this is pin 73 okay so this would be 72 71 70 I'm gonna put a needle nose plier uh these will work right here Oh do a little fine-tuning here they're pretty touchy see they hang up right there damn there got to be perfect to go in there the clip backwards there there we go thank you and all the way you can tell by looking at the other side real carefully so let's count so we know that that's 72 the next roll over yeah cuz that was 73 there so we're looking at 72 71 70 69 68 and it appears to be in there but it works supposed to be those are the signal one and single two lines to the jig's now we're gonna go find pin 11 it wasn't there either for the fan override all right so that's been one four five six seven eight nine ten eleven yeah I've worked on quite a few coming at this this project here is made me not saying I'm the greatest Cummins mechanic there ever was but it sure has made my game improve a lot by doing this that one went all the way in that one's in that one's in now take our slide lock I mean I sure am glad I got that kid I can use that on John here to John Deere he uses these Delphi connectors to you I actually needed one the other day we ended up just putting another harness in it next time I'll just fix it with this the pin that pushed out on is what it did let's run the fan override switch first I'm gonna leave this out for now until I get on all three wires wired in that way I know what's what what's here from us actually that's the right configuration of what I want to do here so what I'm gonna do is run my signal let's see here I'm gonna run the return that's all we're due to the center peg so get continuity what position is that in that's all the way up okay so that's connecting those two pins that connects that one I thought I thought there was an off damnit I need an off position that's not gonna work is it I sure thought I had an off position yeah that's not gonna work that's what st. gonna work so that'll ground both pins that would be stage stage three that could be stage two well I guess that could be stage one I know what I can do I got an idea that can be stage one that could be stage two and that can be stage three where both pins are grounded and I can just put an on/off switch I can put a can on/off switch and interrupt the the return line before I get to this that's what I'll do okay and I think there's actually a minimum runtime you can do it'll turn off get that wire here's our jinx on/off here's our let's just go to the high stage turn it on [Music] okay I'm gonna go drive it at night [Music]
